“Honestly wouldn’t recommend anyone else I was so worried about leaving my dog as I’ve never left him before baz kept me updated the whole time with pictures and videos and looked after snoop better than I could have ever imagined- snoop can sometimes be quite difficult as he is a rescue yet baz was amazing with him- I will be using at every need and couldn’t recommend any more!!”

“Our cockerpoo Lottie had a fabulous stay over with Marnie and her lovely hubby and she came back so chilled out! This was the first time we had used Rover and we could not have picked a better sitter so beginners luck I think! We had a greet n meet beforehand to make sure we were all happy and then Lottie stayed over one night whilst we had to travel to a funeral. It was an emotional trip for me so to be able to leave our precious pooch in such caring and capable hands was a real load off my mind. Lottie was soon settled in and making herself at home and Marnie was very reassuring sending me regular updates and photos and giving her great walks and lots of cuddles. I would definately recommend Marnie as a very caring boarder and we feel confident that we have found the perfect sitter for our little dog for a future break. Finding someone you can trust and feel confident with is not always easy so It's a real bonus to find such a lovely person who obviously goes the extra mile to welcome and look after your precious pooch so I am very thankful to have found such a lovely couple first time round. Thank you Marnie it was an absolute pleasure to meet you and hope to see you again soon.”

“Kody was very happy with Rafael D. and family and when i couldn’t pick him up on the Friday because the plane I was on had a bird strike and we had to return to the airport and couldn’t pick him up until till Saturday it wasn’t a problem.I also had daily reports and photos.”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better couple to look after our dogs while we were away. From the moment we met them, they were warm, friendly, and clearly genuine animal lovers, which immediately put us at ease. They had the absolute best time — it was obvious they were well cared for, happy, and comfortable throughout their stay. We loved receiving updates and could tell they were being treated like part of the family. It’s such a relief knowing we can go away and trust that our dogs are in such kind and capable hands. We would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone and wouldn’t hesitate to book them again in the future.”

“We 100% will ask Louise to have our Bruno again! He absolutely loved spending time at Louise’s cosy home, he didn’t want to leave! Completely put our minds at ease, it’s hard to find someone you trust to look after your fur baby but as soon as I met Louise we knew Bruno would be absolutely fine in her hands! So caring and kind, thank you so much!!”

“Dan was wonderful! Great communication from start to finish, very friendly and flexible on timings which was hugely helpful. Our dog Winston had a wonderful time and Dan kept contacted me throughout the day with updates and photos which was so thoughtful and reassuring! Would defo use Dan again - thanks!”

About: Always had a dog in my life. Whether that be my own or other people's. Since a young age, I have looked after dogs of all kinds. At age 10 I started walking neighbours dogs. At age 12 I helped bring up a litter of pups and watched the mummy give birth. At age 15 I got my own puppy he was a cross breed and he was a very reactive dog but I trained him to be a good boy. At age 17 to 19 I rescued a female staffy and an American bulldog from the kennels. Had a break and then bought my simba when he was 8 weeks old he is friendly and well behaved and he's the best company. I tell him all my secrets and he has never spoke a word 😂. I've no commitments other than the school run and a typical day with simba is breakfast then a nice long walk in the fields. Lots of playing fetch and exploring. Simba then likes to have a nap. He wakes up has his dinner then wants to play catch or fetch. We spend lot of time in the garden if the weather's OK. When the kids come home simba likes to play with them he enjoys ripping up paper and plastic wrappers just making a mess really 😂 it's all good aslong as he's happy and id treat your dog as if it's my own ☺️ they are in safe hands. We then go on another walk to the park after tea then we come home and get cosy. The garden is fenced. Simba can also keep your dogs company. The children are gentle and love dogs. Please don't ask me to look after your dog if it is NOT OK left alone as I will have to be out on the school run during the week twice a day. I'll never leave dogs in the same room alone. We as a family look forward to meeting your fur babies.
“We’ve had a Stanley stay with Rachel a couple of times now and he’s loved staying with her and her family. They really fuss over and pamper him and send us regular pics and updates which is lovely. We can highly recommend Rachel and will definitely be using her again!”
“From our first meeting with Kirsty and Darryl (and their dog Wicket and cats), I just knew I had found a great family to take the best care of my dog. She has just had her first stay, boarding for 14 nights, and I can’t thank them all enough for their care, attention and patience with her. I was able to relax and enjoy my holiday knowing how well she was being cared for. I received regular messages and photos, updating me on how she was going on, and could see that she too was having a great holiday with them. I highly recommend Kirsty and Darryl to anyone looking for boarding in a caring home environment. Thank you so much 😊”

“Merlin had a great time at Carrie’s with her and her lovely dog Bella! He came home happy and exhausted after lots of walks and cuddles and Carrie was really flexible and kept in contact all weekend with lots of photos to keep my mind at rest! We’ll definitely book Carrie again 😊🩷🐶”

“Honey loves her stays at Daryl’s house, so much that sometimes she doesn’t want to leave! Daryl is very kind and approachable and I have no doubt that my beloved pet is very well looked after when with Daryl. 10/10 would recommend to all my loved ones x”

“Dora had a great overnight stay with Chelsea, Pongo and co and was so well cared for. It's clear the whole family love and understand dogs, and they were so accommodating and sent plent of photos to reassure me. I'm delighted Dora has a new dog-friend for sleepovers, and by the look of things, so is she. We will be back!”

“Amazing sitter, I can't recommend highly enough. Kept me up to date and definitely loved them both like her own. I wouldn't hesitate booking again in the future, once she's caught her breath again 🙈😂”

“Such a caring family to leave your dog with. We had regular photos and videos of Bentley out walking with their dog Bobby. Bentley was treated just like one of the family...lots of cuddles , naps on the sofa, ball games and a wonderful safe garden to run around in.”

“It was the first time we've used a dog boarder, so was a little apprehensive. But there was no need, Bodi absolutely loved his stay with Mark and family (and dogs) Mark kept us updated with photos and videos, we were actually worried that Bodi wouldn't want to leave. I have no hesitation in recommending Mark and would definitely use him again.”

“This is our second stay with Ada and Noodle has had the best week with this lovely couple, feel so at ease knowing he was well looked after, plenty of updates to what he's doing and how he is getting on, the only dog sitter we trust with Noodle Thank you both so much, again.”

“Absolutely 100% recommend. Ted remembered them and pawed at the door to get in on arrival. Lovely couple and would not hesitate to book them again. Thank you so much for looking after Ted.”

We could tell straight away that Teddy had been in a loving, caring environment. Teddy had a lovely time and was really happy when we picked him up. Sophie took fantastic care of Teddy during our 10 days away and kept us reassured with periodic updates on how he was doing. Will absolutely book again & would recommend highly!

Would highly recommend Sean to take care of your dog. He took care of our Evee (collie, spaniel cross) as if she were his own. Loads of long walks and plenty of playing fetch with lots of photos and video clips as proof! Sean also came to our home to meet and spend time with Evee before we dropped her off. Will definitely use Sean again the next time we are away. Thanks again Sean!

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming

- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
