“Our puppy’s first stay for a day and night with someone else and it couldn’t have gone any better. Baz kept us regularly updated with photos, videos updates and our puppy looked like she was having a brilliant time. Put our minds at ease immediately and will definitely be using Baz again next time we need a dog sitter. Thanks”

“We could tell straight away that Teddy had been in a loving, caring environment. Teddy had a lovely time and was really happy when we picked him up. Sophie took fantastic care of Teddy during our 10 days away and kept us reassured with periodic updates on how he was doing. Will absolutely book again & would recommend highly!”

“Lauren and family were absolutely amazing! They had shadow for a week while we were on our holidays and we got regular daily updates of her having the absolute best time. I cannot recommend these guys enough.”

About: Always had a dog in my life. Whether that be my own or other people's. Since a young age, I have looked after dogs of all kinds. At age 10 I started walking neighbours dogs. At age 12 I helped bring up a litter of pups and watched the mummy give birth. At age 15 I got my own puppy he was a cross breed and he was a very reactive dog but I trained him to be a good boy. At age 17 to 19 I rescued a female staffy and an American bulldog from the kennels. Had a break and then bought my simba when he was 8 weeks old he is friendly and well behaved and he's the best company. I tell him all my secrets and he has never spoke a word 😂. I've no commitments other than the school run and a typical day with simba is breakfast then a nice long walk in the fields. Lots of playing fetch and exploring. Simba then likes to have a nap. He wakes up has his dinner then wants to play catch or fetch. We spend lot of time in the garden if the weather's OK. When the kids come home simba likes to play with them he enjoys ripping up paper and plastic wrappers just making a mess really 😂 it's all good aslong as he's happy and id treat your dog as if it's my own ☺️ they are in safe hands. We then go on another walk to the park after tea then we come home and get cosy. The garden is fenced. Simba can also keep your dogs company. The children are gentle and love dogs. Please don't ask me to look after your dog if it is NOT OK left alone as I will have to be out on the school run during the week twice a day. I'll never leave dogs in the same room alone. We as a family look forward to meeting your fur babies.

“Jamie was absolutely fantastic, he understood that I was really anxious leaving Diesel for the first time and accommodated my requests to meet up a couple of times beforehand. Diesel had a lovely stay with Jamie and we will definitely be booking with him again.”

About: After losing my own boy, my cockapoo, Alfie, suddenly in August, I never thought I’d be able to open my heart or home to another dog so soon. But a part of me feels like it’s missing and whilst I’m not ready to commit to another one of my own, I have so much love to give to other people’s fur babies. I feel that whilst helping other families with doggy day care and/or dog sitting, I can help my heart heal at the same time. I am a paramedic and work shifts, meaning I often have mid-week days off and blocks of rest days at a time. My working hours allow a good range of availability and my role demonstrates my professionalism, compassion and reliability. I am a responsible dog lover who will invite your furry friend into my home, care for them like they are my own and keep them safe until you they return home. Please feel free to reach out if you think I may be suitable for your needs. I am a paramedic and work shifts, meaning I have blocks of days off, both weekends and weekdays. I am offering dog sitting services, through the day or overnight on my rest days so I can fully commit my day/night to your fur baby and have lots of fun. I have a large and interesting fenced garden in a rural location with lots of amazing local walks. My garden is secure with lots to explore and as I would only be having one dog at a time (or two from the same household) your dog would get full roam of the garden and our undivided attention.
“We’ve had a Stanley stay with Rachel a couple of times now and he’s loved staying with her and her family. They really fuss over and pamper him and send us regular pics and updates which is lovely. We can highly recommend Rachel and will definitely be using her again!”
“Poppy had the best holiday with Carrie. She was treated like one of Carrie’s own. She got to lounge on the sofa, visit the allotments, walk off lead around the park and she even attended a dog show! Carrie provided me with updates and pictures throughout her stay. Poppy definitely had a fabulous time, thank you 😊”

About: Hi, we’re Hannah & Ben! We’re a dog loving household with lots of experience. We’ve had family dogs in the past, and while we don’t have a dog of our just at the moment, we’re often the “aunt and uncle” who look after friends’ pups whenever they go away — a role we absolutely adore. We’ve also used other pet care apps over the years, so we understand how important it is to find someone you can trust with your four legged family member. We’re lucky to both work from home full time, which means we have plenty of time, attention, and love to give. Your pup won’t be short on company or wee breaks. We’d love to welcome your dog into our routine and make them feel right at home! We work from home full time so lots of company through out the day here. While we occasionally have to take a trip for work it’s rare both of us have to go at the same time so there is always someone here. We have a walled garden at the back and we can are more than happy to crate if that’s what makes your pup feel most comfortable, please just bring that with you. We are also more than happy to administer medication but please discuss this with us at booking.
“Amazing sitter, I can't recommend highly enough. Kept me up to date and definitely loved them both like her own. I wouldn't hesitate booking again in the future, once she's caught her breath again 🙈😂”

About: I have taken care of many of my friends dogs whilst they go on holiday(s) over the last 5 years. This has included two beautiful, high energy spaniels and older Dachshunds. I work from home and have a spaniel myself so I’m constantly out and about making sure they have the best day. I wake up around 5.45 on week days and take George (my spaniel) on a nice 5k walk along the canal. I work from home so will get my morning meetings out of the way, let George out in the back yard in between. I usually walk to the local park at lunch which is around 2.5k round trip. And after work, depending on what I have planned we usually are out and about places. Quick walk around the block just before we go to bed. I have a fenced yard. Plenty of room in the kitchen to keep a cage. A ring camera that overlooks into the kitchen for if I need to nip out to the shops. And George is the most loving companion, he has been so socialised since I’ve had him that he loves having other dogs over for sleepovers.
“I booked with Natalie for a home boarding service for 4 nights just recently. It was the first time I have used this type of care for my dog as family are usually available so I was quite apprehensive as my dog is a rescue dog and she’s only 2 years old, she can be quite nervy but we arranged a meet and greet and I felt just from this meet up that she was going to be well looked after and her needs met (as she can need time to get used to people). Natalie is a really caring and considerate person and was making sure she knew what to expect with Bambi so that they could all have an enjoyable few days. She was up cuddling on the sofa and making herself at home straight away and I was so happy to see that they were all having a great home together. Was kept updated through the week with some lovely pics in the house and out on walks and couldn’t be more grateful for Natalie creating the best atmosphere for Bambi to know she’s in a safe place and she could relax and be herself, which is everything to a dog owner. Will 100% be using Natalie in the future. I’m very glad to have found someone I can trust for home boarding at the first time of asking 🙏🏻🖤 🐶 xx”

“I honestly couldn't recommend Amy highly enough. Black Labrador Ellie clearly had an absolute blast and I think would've quite happily stayed!! Be seeing you again soon and thank you so much.”

“Martin and his family are fantastic,I didn't want to put our puppy back in a kennel so looked for alternative that's when we found Martin. Alfie can be a handful at times but Martin said he were good We got photos of video clips every day even sent photo before we set off to show us how he had settled in,I can honestly say we had 2 fantastic weeks with no worry our puppy were definitely enjoying his holiday. We can't thank Martin and his family enough. We won't give Martin a 5star we are giving him 100+ stars. Thank you again Martin x”

About: I have a 5yo bully mix called Lennie who is my best friend. Having Lennie has allowed me to explore the world of dogs and their needs. Lennie is very experienced in having other dogs in our home regularly, and excels particularly well with puppies as he is very patient, tolerant and likes to play gently. We have raised a little of 5 cocker spaniels and also have a 3 month old lurcher puppy who will reside in kennels as a working dog. Lennie has been pivotal in these pups becoming confident around large breeds, and all 5 of our puppies new owners have commended us on our rearing of them and how confident and well rounded they now are at 6 months old. I have poured a lot of time and money into researching how to keep my dog well stimulated, both physically and mentally and find great pleasure in learning how to keep him happy and healthy. I have joined Rover to look for dog friends that would enjoy our daily countryside walks with us, whilst enabling us to support those who may not always have to time to provide such exercise! I know many amazing walks around my area, you can rest assured that your dog will be well exercised and mentally stimulated when they return to you. I am also available for overnight boarding, you can be safe in the knowledge that your dog is in a loving home away from home environment with lots of cuddles, mental stimulation, and around other dogs for company. I work from home 3 days a week so am able to provide regular interaction and exercise with the dogs. Getting out on a walk is the perfect way for me to break up my day at home. I can provide 1:1 walks if necessary in instances where your dog is reactive, I have expedience with this so you can be confident that I your pup will be well managed. However, if your dog is comfortable with other dogs I would also bring my own along too. Dogs in my care can expect lots of attention and love, whilst also prioritising their own needs and wants. I appreciate all dogs have completely different personalities and would tailor my care to each individual. Dogs are allowed on the furniture and wherever they please in the house. Both my front and back gardens are completely secure and away from public access with good space to roam around, play and relax if the weather permits.

Kim was absolutely fantastic. Great communication throughout. Met up beforehand for a meet and greet. Kept us updated with Ozzy while he was staying with her. Our dog is still young so can be a total ball of energy but we picked him up super happy and it was clear he'd had the best time. 100% recommended and we will definitely use again in the future (if they’ll have us…😉)

Would highly recommend Sean to take care of your dog. He took care of our Evee (collie, spaniel cross) as if she were his own. Loads of long walks and plenty of playing fetch with lots of photos and video clips as proof! Sean also came to our home to meet and spend time with Evee before we dropped her off. Will definitely use Sean again the next time we are away. Thanks again Sean!

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
