“Rosalind was great from the first meet and greet, very understanding of our pets needs. We received regular updates and came home to happy calm pets, can not recommend Rosalind enough. We have found a reliable pet sitter and will 100% be booking again 🙂”

About: I’ve had cats and dogs my whole life! Experience from looking after young animals to older! My family has recently got a puppy that requires lots and training and looking after! Check out my new instagram: ryans_petcare I work full‑time in the civil service, and I’m new to pet sitting, but I’ve had plenty of real hands‑on experience with animals. I’ve had cats throughout different stages of my life and recently raised a kitten from 8 weeks old who’s now 2. I’ve also spent time around dogs of different sizes and temperaments, helping with walks, playtime, and general care. I’m looking to fill my evenings and weekends by helping local owners and giving their cats and dogs company, routine, and reassurance while they’re away. When I’m looking after a pet, I will focus on keeping their routine as close to normal as possible. I’ll follow the feeding schedule you set, keep fresh water available, and make sure they get the right balance of play, attention, and quiet time. For dogs, that includes regular walks, toilet breaks, and sticking to any training or boundaries you already use. For cats, I’ll handle litter changes, feeding, playtime, and give them space if they’re shy or prefer independence.
“Megan looked after our dog, Meg, when we went away for a few days. Meg has never been left at home or in kennels when we’ve been away and at 13 years of age we didn’t fancy putting her in kennels - she’s quite an anxious dog! Megan came to our house and we went for a couple of walks so Meg could get to know Megan so even before we went away we were comfortable with our choice. Megan sent regular updates while we were away and Meg was absolutely fine when we got back - no anxiety because she’d been in her own environment. Megan is lovely; she loves dogs ♥️and we have absolutely no worries about leaving Meg in her care again. Definitely recommended 5* 😊”

“Viktoria was fantastic! She helped us out at short notice, which we really appreciated. She was communicative, clear, affectionate and caring with our dogs, sent lots of pictures and let us know how things were going unprompted while we were away. She left our house in great condition and our dogs were very happy. Our rescue pup can be a bit slow to warm up but clearly liked Viktoria and was happy to be close to her, which we found reassuring too. We’d happily have Viktoria back again and highly recommend her to look after your fur babies!”

“Alex looked after our two dogs for the first time, and we couldn't have been happier with the care he provided. We left home feeling completely confident that they were in safe and capable hands. Alex is enthusiastic, trustworthy, and immediately puts you at ease. He kept us updated regularly, which gave us great peace of mind while we were away. We would highly recommend him to anyone looking for reliable and caring pet care.”

“This was our first experience with a outsider dog sitter, Usually use family but was unable to this time. Was a little apprehensive at first, but all was great. Jack was absolutely fantastic with Eva....he stayed at ours to sit Eva for 10 nights. He kept me updated daily on how she was doing and the things she was upto. She grew a very special bond quickly with Jack which was surprising with her being a rescue dog. Usually takes her a while, but within two meet and greets with him she was smitten. She actually seemed rather sad when he left 😔 😔 Jack will always be our go-to dog sitter in the future while Eva is still with us. 10/10 service.......thanks Jack.”

About: I’ve taken care of animals since I was a child and I’ve always had a passion for pets. I’ve rescued numerous animals in and around my neighbourhood, including two baby squirrels, and cared for and reunited them with their owners. I am happy to care for cats and dogs with different needs and will try my best to accommodate. I currently work part-time and have a young child. However, I love animals and will accommodate as much as I can to ensure that they’re in safe, loving hands. I offer care in pet owners home and will always ensure that the owners rules are followed. In my own home we have baby gates, doors and a large fenced garden to ensure the safety of your animal.
“Sarah looked after our house and dog for three weeks. Absolutely no concerns at all. Sarah kept us updated and sent us photos of our dog and he was clearly very happy and well looked after. Would definitely recommend Sarah.”

It would be great for my dog to also be able to socialise with another dog if booking the boarding option. Great with training, rewards, attention to detail and most importantly...affection! Available for all your pooches needs! Cuddles, Walks and Affection GUARNTEED!! Park walks, Treats, Belly rubs are all part of the caring package your pooch will recieve! No 2 days are the same! I have a fenced garden with gated front entry to the house. I have 1 dog who is 1 years old and will always be open for a playtime buddy!
“Mark and his daughter Faith came for a meet and greet. We have a Romanian rescue, 71/2 months old, Faith was really calm around him and he took well to her. We arranged a few hours sit with Faith, again he really took to Faith. She maintained her calmness and really engaged with Varg. We have not seen our rescue this relaxed around a non family human. We will definitely be using Mark and Faith again.”

About: I've always loved animals and have experience caring for both cats and dogs. I grew up with three dogs and now have a cat, so I understand how important it is to keep pets happy, comfortable, and sticking to their usual routine. I work from home, so I'm flexible and reliable. Whether it's feeding, walks, playtime, cuddles, or medication, I'll care for your pet as if they were my own and keep you updated with regular photos and messages. I work from home full-time, so I'm really flexible when it comes to drop-in visits. I'm available on both weekdays and weekends, and fitting visits into my day is no problem. I’ll make sure your pet is happy and comfortable while you’re away and keep to their normal routine as much as possible. That means feeding, fresh water, litter tray cleaning, dog walks, and some playtime or cuddles depending on what they like. Every pet is different, so I always follow your instructions and take my time with them so they feel relaxed and safe. I’m also happy just to sit with them for company if that’s what they prefer.
About: I’ve grown up with animals and currently have one dog and three cats, so caring for pets is just part of my everyday life. I’m used to the little messes, the different personalities, and the routines that come with them, and I genuinely enjoy it. Being around animals feels natural to me, and I’m patient, attentive, and comfortable handling whatever comes up. I’ll treat your pets with the same care and attention I give my own. I’ve recently graduated from university and am currently based at home, which means I have a very flexible schedule. I’m available throughout most of the week and can dedicate plenty of time and attention to caring for pets, whether that’s regular check-ins, longer stays, or last-minute needs. While I’m not able to board pets in my own home, I’m very happy to care for them in the place they feel safest in your home. I understand how important it is for pets to stay in their usual environment and routine, especially when their owners are away. I can stay in your home to provide consistent care and companionship, or carry out regular check-ins to make sure they’re fed, comfortable, and doing well. I’ll always treat your home and your pets with respect, and make sure you feel updated and reassured while you’re away.

Megan looked after our border collie for 2 weeks in our home while we were on holiday. He is quite an anxious chap so we wanted someone experienced so we could relax and not worry about him. Megan was that person! She was brilliant from start to finish, took time to meet him and walk him with us before the sit. She kept in daily contact with us with updates and photos of their adventures together. She even did some training with him which was great! I would highly recommend Megan to anyone, and will definitely be using her services should I need to in the future . Thank you Megan!
We’ve had Viktoria look after our dogs many times, and we always rebook her when we need someone to take wonderful care of our pups. Viktoria is always warm, communicative, affectionate with the dogs, tidy, and responsible. We’ll happily have her back again x

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Rotherham walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Rotherham choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
