About: I have stayed with my friends' animals many times, including an iguana 🦎😅, so I decided to help others who would like to spend their holidays peacefully without worrying about their furry friend. I work remotely, so I have no problem staying with my furry friend during the day or at night. I usually go for three walks a day, and if necessary, I have no problem going for additional ones. I don't offer pet care services in my home. I adhere to the rules of the homeowner where the pet lives to ensure the animal feels as comfortable as possible.
“Rosalind house sat for me over 4 days recently to look after my 2 dogs, one of which has recently had surgery. This is the first time I have tried this service. Rosalind is excellent! I can highly recommend her! From first meeting her I felt confident she would take care of the dogs and my home really well. She is friendly, personable and experienced looking after dogs and my 2 dogs really like her! She kept me up to date with photos etc I will certainly have Rosalind to care for my dogs again, she is great! Thank you so much!”

About: I always wanted dogs growing up, and have often cared for friends’ pets when needed, and when I moved to Whiston I finally got the chance to have one full time - my ex-partner’s family dog needed to move, and we took him in. As we’re no longer together I don’t have him any more, and I would love to be able to give the care and attention to pets who need a home from home. I’m comfortable administering mediation (the dog mentioned took 4 different tablets, twice a day) and promise to always provide them with as many walks, playtime and treats as they want (treats within moderation obviously)! My work is hybrid so I’m able to be at home a lot, and I would never commit to taking in a pet if there was a chance I couldn’t be at home with them all the time. When working from home I can be flexible to ensure I can match your pets normal routine as closely as possible. They’ll also provide me with the perfect distraction to procrastinate! Although the back garden is unfenced, I would never leave your pet there unsupervised. I do have a fenced and gated front driveway. I would stick to your usual routine as closely as possible - pets are allowed wherever they are comfiest in my house, so they’d have full and complete roam of the house to make sure they found their most comfy spot! I’ll send photos and updates every day to let you know how they’re doing and what we’ve been up to for your peace of mind!
“Megan looked after our dog, Meg, when we went away for a few days. Meg has never been left at home or in kennels when we’ve been away and at 13 years of age we didn’t fancy putting her in kennels - she’s quite an anxious dog! Megan came to our house and we went for a couple of walks so Meg could get to know Megan so even before we went away we were comfortable with our choice. Megan sent regular updates while we were away and Meg was absolutely fine when we got back - no anxiety because she’d been in her own environment. Megan is lovely; she loves dogs ♥️and we have absolutely no worries about leaving Meg in her care again. Definitely recommended 5* 😊”

“Alex looked after our two dogs for the first time, and we couldn't have been happier with the care he provided. We left home feeling completely confident that they were in safe and capable hands. Alex is enthusiastic, trustworthy, and immediately puts you at ease. He kept us updated regularly, which gave us great peace of mind while we were away. We would highly recommend him to anyone looking for reliable and caring pet care.”

About: I've always loved animals and have experience caring for both cats and dogs. I grew up with three dogs and now have a cat, so I understand how important it is to keep pets happy, comfortable, and sticking to their usual routine. I work from home, so I'm flexible and reliable. Whether it's feeding, walks, playtime, cuddles, or medication, I'll care for your pet as if they were my own and keep you updated with regular photos and messages. I work from home full-time, so I'm really flexible when it comes to drop-in visits. I'm available on both weekdays and weekends, and fitting visits into my day is no problem. I’ll make sure your pet is happy and comfortable while you’re away and keep to their normal routine as much as possible. That means feeding, fresh water, litter tray cleaning, dog walks, and some playtime or cuddles depending on what they like. Every pet is different, so I always follow your instructions and take my time with them so they feel relaxed and safe. I’m also happy just to sit with them for company if that’s what they prefer.
About: I’ve taken care of animals since I was a child and I’ve always had a passion for pets. I’ve rescued numerous animals in and around my neighbourhood, including two baby squirrels, and cared for and reunited them with their owners. I am happy to care for cats and dogs with different needs and will try my best to accommodate. I currently work part-time and have a young child. However, I love animals and will accommodate as much as I can to ensure that they’re in safe, loving hands. I offer care in pet owners home and will always ensure that the owners rules are followed. In my own home we have baby gates, doors and a large fenced garden to ensure the safety of your animal.
“Gypsy and Mark did a fantastic job looking after our two cats while we were away. We received regular photos and updates and felt confident throughout that our pets were in good hands. Would highly recommend and definitely book again. Thanks so much!”

About: I have a pet dog who we raised back home in the south who I raised since he was 6 weeks. We trained him to do above average levels of commands until his illness took root and we had to reduce the exercise he had. But always able to provide fun and friendly care for animals! I’m currently not working so I’m available all day and weekends of daycare, boarding or pet sitting. I’m an outdoorsy person and couple so walks will always be common with any services. I have a ground floor pet friendly apartment with a riverside greenery area just outside common with city suburbs dog walkers for socialising, walks and playtime
“Michelle has been an absolute star from start to finish. Her communication from the outset has been second to none. I was let down last minute by a sitter and Michelle stepped in last minute to look after my two Frenchies. Despite the sit being arranged last minute, Michelle still arranged a pre-sit visit to meet me and the dogs, have a bit of time to allow me to show her around and familiarise her with the dogs routine and feeding schedule. On the day of the sit Michelle was punctual and arrived exactly at the pre-arranged time which meant I could get on the road promptly too. Over the weekend I got regular updates and pics and videos of my dogs I came home to to happy, well exercised and tired dogs. Michelle left the house neat tidy and even put bedding onto wash. I would definitely use Michelle in the future to sit for my dogs and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a friendly, helpful and professional sitter.”

About: I’ve always loved being around dogs and spending time outdoors, so dog walking is something I genuinely enjoy rather than just a job. Whether it’s a relaxed stroll, a long adventure, or exploring new routes, I’m happiest with a four-legged friend by my side! 🌿🐕 I’m an active, caring, and reliable person who will always match the pace, personality, and energy of the dog I’m with—whether they’re full of zoomies or prefer taking life one sniff at a time. A little about my experience 🦴 I’ve had dogs for over 10 years and have regularly cared for the pets of family and friends, so I’m comfortable with different breeds, personalities, and routines. I also have a Labrador of my own, so I know all about the energetic, slightly chaotic “crazy dog” moments! Whether your dog loves to run, play fetch, swim, or simply curl up for cuddles, I’ll make sure they feel safe, happy, and loved throughout our time together. Every dog is unique, so I’ll always take the time to get to know their routine, personality, and what makes them happiest. ❤️ I’ll also keep you updated with plenty of photos and messages 📸 so you can relax knowing your best friend is having a great time. I’m currently working part-time, so I’m able to offer flexible availability Monday- Wednesday. I am happy to provide morning, afternoon, and evening drop-in visits where possible. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priority. I make sure to follow all care instructions closely, keep pets secure during walks and visits, and provide a calm and caring environment while you’re away.
About: I’ve grown up with animals and currently have one dog and three cats, so caring for pets is just part of my everyday life. I’m used to the little messes, the different personalities, and the routines that come with them, and I genuinely enjoy it. Being around animals feels natural to me, and I’m patient, attentive, and comfortable handling whatever comes up. I’ll treat your pets with the same care and attention I give my own. I’ve recently graduated from university and am currently based at home, which means I have a very flexible schedule. I’m available throughout most of the week and can dedicate plenty of time and attention to caring for pets, whether that’s regular check-ins, longer stays, or last-minute needs. While I’m not able to board pets in my own home, I’m very happy to care for them in the place they feel safest in your home. I understand how important it is for pets to stay in their usual environment and routine, especially when their owners are away. I can stay in your home to provide consistent care and companionship, or carry out regular check-ins to make sure they’re fed, comfortable, and doing well. I’ll always treat your home and your pets with respect, and make sure you feel updated and reassured while you’re away.
“Marie was a great help looking after my cat Freya whilst I was away. She kept me updated with pictures and left the house perfect for when I came back. Would definitely recommend her :)”

About: Having grown up with a large breed dog most of my childhood (boxer dog) I quickly learnt the love and loyalty a dog gives. For the last 14 years I’ve had 2 large black labs that have now sadly gone (due to old age) and left a great big hole in my heart. Due to work commitments it wouldn’t be fair to get another dog but what I can do is give my love to another dog while its humans are in holiday or away from home. I work Monday to Friday day time but I’m happy to spend weekends and evenings looking after your dogs needs. I’m also available during school holidays. I can provide care for your dog in your home or out on a walk while you’re away from home. I’m happy to visit your home to check on your dog if you need that or take them on a walk.

About: I love all animals but dogs in particular, they make me happy and they are always glad to see you when you walk through the door. I offer a house and dog sitting service where I will, along with my husband Colin and dog Alfie, stay in your home with your dog or dogs (maximum of 2) and look after they as if they were my own. They will get to stay in their own familiar surroundings where they will be loved and cared for as if they were our own. They will get at least 2 walks per day and lots of playtime with either ourselves or Alfie who loves to run and play with other dogs. For your peace of mind we will meet you beforehand so you can get to know us a little bit better and you can ask any questions you might have. We are experienced in particular of looking after more senior dogs and realise they don't need as much exercise as they once did but we will try to keep them occupied with treat puzzles or a nice brush and lots of cuddles. We are able to administer any medications your furbaby might need also I have a canine first aid certificate and we are both DBS checked. We have looked after lots of different breeds over the years including our own dogs and dogs through home boarding. Your dog will have all of our time as this is our main profession, they will have all our attention unless we have to go out while we stay with them. We will of course keep your pet safe by keeping them on their lead at all times unless they are allowed off by your consent.
“Viktoria looked after our sausage dog, Mabel, when we went away for 10 days, and I couldn’t thank her enough for how comfortable she made me feel leaving Mabel with her! We received regular updates on how they were getting on, and she even took Mabel for a pup cup at Starbucks! I would highly recommend Viktoria to anyone looking for a dog sitter!⭐️”

“Katie was brilliant and really helped us out last minute. Our two large and hyper dogs loved her immediately and she was great with them from the start, sending photos and keeping us updated while we were out. We will definitely be asking Katie for help again!”

About: Me and my partner have both always had big dogs ever since we were little, both with family dogs (and other pets). We have a love for all animals. I currently work nights so my days are free to give you the satisfaction of knowing your dog is taken care of, walked, fed and loved. My partner (Carys) also works along side me so we have 24/7 availability. I have a fully fenced off garden, with plenty of room to run and play. Our full attention will be given to providing the safest and most calm enviroment.
“Mark and his daughter Faith came for a meet and greet. We have a Romanian rescue, 71/2 months old, Faith was really calm around him and he took well to her. We arranged a few hours sit with Faith, again he really took to Faith. She maintained her calmness and really engaged with Varg. We have not seen our rescue this relaxed around a non family human. We will definitely be using Mark and Faith again.”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Rotherham walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Rotherham choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
