“Paolo had a great second stay with Martin, where he was spoilt! Martin also followed our instructions to give Paolo his medication twice daily. We felt confident that Paolo was in good hands with someone who loves dogs. Thanks again 🐕”

“Danielle had our sprocker Murphy over night for the first time this week and he seemed to settle really well. We had photos and messages updating us on how Murphy was getting on. I’d use Danielle for future overnight stays and dog walking. Thank you Danielle”

“Carol is amazing with Rolo, makes him feel so welcome & loved. Like a home away from home. This Rolos second time staying and always come home so happy and content. Carol provides a warm, safe & very loving environment for any pet staying there. Thank you so much for putting our minds at rest & being the perfect dog sitter for us. Carols communication is perfect & we enjoy seeing all the photos & hearing all about Rolos day.”

“Julie was great with Paolo and clearly loves dogs. She had read Paolo’s profile and asked questions relating to his medication so showed me that she was prepared. She sent updates and photos. Her house is a great space for dogs with a huge garden. Thanks”

“Mark and Helen were fantastic with Chase! They took great care of him and kept me updated with regular photos and messages. Chase looked so happy when I picked him up, and it was clear he’d been well-loved and looked after. I’d definitely trust them to care for him again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for kind, reliable sitters.”

“Emily was absolutely brilliant. Very polite, respectful and an all around brilliant host for my little doggo. She takes into consideration your needs - I asked for regular photo updates and she didn't fail to do so whatsoever. I would definitely recommend Emily and without a shadow of a doubt will be booking with her again.”

“A massive thank you to you & your family for taking Bella in and looking after her. It was lovely to have someone who sent the daily updates of what Bella got up to whilst we were away & we can tell she had a lovely stay. Thank you again”

“I requested a booking within a week of needing cover. Michelle responded very quickly and offered Tommy and I to go round to meet her and Graham on the very first message. When we met, Tommy was immediately settled with them and I was instantly at ease. I was worried going into this having never had Tommy with a sitter or at kennels but I need not have worried. He bonded with Graham, napping on his feet and was very comfortable in Michelle's company. They are a lovely couple who are evident dog lovers and treat your pets as their own. I will not hesitate to book them again. Thank you so much for making Tommy so at ease and like he was at his own home. 10/10 sitters x”

“River has had the best of times. Pearl is a lovely person and she really cared for River and treated her like her own. She kept me updated, sent photos and videos during the stay. Nothing was too much for her. I can thoroughly recommend Pearl to anyone.”

“Where to start… Aimee is fantastic! Jax was immediately comfortable, roaming around and exploring their lovely home & garden, we knew he was going to be fine from the minute we walked in. I got regular updates and I could see Jax was content & so settled. So much so, he was more than happy to stay when we went to pick him up 😅 We would highly recommend and will certainly be using Aimee again.. Thank you! 🙏🏻”

“Our 3 month old puppy had so much fun with Adam and his family. They took care of her and loved her like she was their own and it was so comforting to receive the pictures and videos of our happy puppy. We’ve already booked again. “I cannot thank Sarah enough for the care for Benson for two days. Having not left Benson with someone he doesn’t know for a very long time, Sarah took the time to assure me that everything was fine and she’d take great care of him and that she did. Right from our initial meeting, I knew I’d made a good choice and that he’d be looked after and cared for. I got regular updates and lots of photos. If there’s anyone I’d recommend to look after your dog then Sarah is the person for that. I can’t thank her enough and would highly recommend.”

“Alfie loved his time with Tom, Tom walked Alfie regularly and welcomed him to his home like Alfie was was one of his own. Thanks Tom would highly recommend Tom and will have no hesitation using him again”

“Miley has been difficult to board due to being a timid dog but Rebecca rose to the challenge wonderfully. She understood Miley’s needs and immediately engaged Miley in a way that reassured her. Miley was soon wagging her tail and waiting for treats. This is an amazing outcome for our shy little dog. Rebecca is very personable and sharing information was easy. The environment was above standard and I had no concerns leaving Miley with Rebecca. Miley came home a very happy girl so I know she was well looked after and comforted during her stay. We will definitely use Rebecca again! Thank you 🤗🤗”

Julie looked after our nervous rescue dog Paolo for 10 days and I would highly recommend Julie. Her house is also great for dogs, with a big garden. She was very attentive to his needs as a nervous dog. She gave lots of updates and reassured us Paolo was ok. He quickly very settled with her. He had a great routine with lots of walks and even trips out to the pub! She was very cautious with the heatwave only walking him when it was cool and making sure he had cool spots in the house. She went the extra mile when his food ran out (sorry!) driving to pet shops and even researched and cooked home cooked alternatives as he’s on a special diet. She also followed all our instructions including with his medicine. We are so thankful to have found Julie. Thank you

Harvey had a 12 day stay with Tomasz and Ash & Leo What an amazing young couple. Regular updates everyday and lovely photos, Harvey has been so well looked after and been so happy, I highly recommend Tomasz and Ash and can’t thank them enough, Harvey is our world and we had an amazing holiday and didn’t worry once. Thanks again to you both and of course Leo for being a lovely little brother to Harvey for 2 week, very sweet little boy xxxx

I was really nervous about leaving my Pug Peach with anyone whilst we went on a family holiday. I needn’t have worried. Helen was absolutely amazing from the very beginning. Clear communication, and super friendly. I appreciated the constant communication, and videos and pictures, it helped me relax and enjoy my time, knowing peach was in great hands. Peach had a wonderful time, she fit straight in and was treated as a part of the family, including all the belly tickles she could want. She came home just as happy as when we left her. I would not hesitate to send peach for a holiday with Helen again. Thank you so much ❤️

Alexandra and Luke were lovely. Treated Ed and Aherla like family. Aherla can be a anxious dog but she took straight to Luke and settled down. Ed took to Alex and became a puppy again. A couple of issues at night as they have never stayed away overnight, but alex and luke handled them with no problem. Would 100% book them to look after Ed and Aherla or any future fur babies we have.

Barry looked after our Barney. He kept us informed on how he was setting in. He sent us regular photos as well. It was a real home from home . We would definitely ask Barry to look after Barney for us again. We definitely recommend Barry to look after your 4 legged friends.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Yorkshire and the Humber may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
