“I requested a booking within a week of needing cover. Michelle responded very quickly and offered Tommy and I to go round to meet her and Graham on the very first message. When we met, Tommy was immediately settled with them and I was instantly at ease. I was worried going into this having never had Tommy with a sitter or at kennels but I need not have worried. He bonded with Graham, napping on his feet and was very comfortable in Michelle's company. They are a lovely couple who are evident dog lovers and treat your pets as their own. I will not hesitate to book them again. Thank you so much for making Tommy so at ease and like he was at his own home. 10/10 sitters x”

“I would book Claire, Chris and their lovely family to look after Rudy again in a heartbeat! It gave me so much confidence that they already had a golden retriever. They were absolutely fabulous and would highly recommend! Thank you 🤎”

“Could not recommend Isabella enough, she took great care of my dog whilst on a family holiday. She updated us daily with lovely pictures and videos of what he had got up to. Will certainly be using her services again. Thank you again 5 ⭐️ service”

“My Boston Terrier, Jerry, has only been seeing Ivans for a short while, and already he’s coming on leaps and bounds. He’s doing better on his lead, he’s doing better with his reactivity, and Ivans has been a huge support in helping me to learn how to help Jerry. It feels like he wants to set Jerry up for success, which is hugely positive. This time I had to travel last minute, and Ivans had Jerry at his home for me. I was worried, and he eased my worries. My surprise at seeing photos of Jerry happy around other dogs… walking next to other dogs… it was amazing. Usually he is… a challenge around other dogs, to say the least, but Ivans knows exactly how Jerry’s mind works and is able to work magic! I would highly, highly recommend, especially to people like myself whose dogs need some training support! Right now, Jerry is happily curled up calm and sleeping, which is a blessing in itself!”

“A massive thank you to you & your family for taking Bella in and looking after her. It was lovely to have someone who sent the daily updates of what Bella got up to whilst we were away & we can tell she had a lovely stay. Thank you again”

“Steve was absolutely amazing with Cassie. She seemed to have really enjoyed her time with Steve and had plenty of walks with him. That much that she didn't want to leave.Would definitely book with Steve again and 100% recommend him.”

“Anna looked after my Molly extremely well this weekend. I received a number of updates though out the day along with pictures of what they were up to. I absolutely would recommend Anna to look after your dog anytime, you can just tell she absolutely adores dogs and that it’s self is peace of mind. Thanks Anna, Molly will be back! 💗”

Julie looked after our nervous rescue dog Paolo for 10 days and I would highly recommend Julie. Her house is also great for dogs, with a big garden. She was very attentive to his needs as a nervous dog. She gave lots of updates and reassured us Paolo was ok. He quickly very settled with her. He had a great routine with lots of walks and even trips out to the pub! She was very cautious with the heatwave only walking him when it was cool and making sure he had cool spots in the house. She went the extra mile when his food ran out (sorry!) driving to pet shops and even researched and cooked home cooked alternatives as he’s on a special diet. She also followed all our instructions including with his medicine. We are so thankful to have found Julie. Thank you

Harvey had a 12 day stay with Tomasz and Ash & Leo What an amazing young couple. Regular updates everyday and lovely photos, Harvey has been so well looked after and been so happy, I highly recommend Tomasz and Ash and can’t thank them enough, Harvey is our world and we had an amazing holiday and didn’t worry once. Thanks again to you both and of course Leo for being a lovely little brother to Harvey for 2 week, very sweet little boy xxxx

I was really nervous about leaving my Pug Peach with anyone whilst we went on a family holiday. I needn’t have worried. Helen was absolutely amazing from the very beginning. Clear communication, and super friendly. I appreciated the constant communication, and videos and pictures, it helped me relax and enjoy my time, knowing peach was in great hands. Peach had a wonderful time, she fit straight in and was treated as a part of the family, including all the belly tickles she could want. She came home just as happy as when we left her. I would not hesitate to send peach for a holiday with Helen again. Thank you so much ❤️

Alexandra and Luke were lovely. Treated Ed and Aherla like family. Aherla can be a anxious dog but she took straight to Luke and settled down. Ed took to Alex and became a puppy again. A couple of issues at night as they have never stayed away overnight, but alex and luke handled them with no problem. Would 100% book them to look after Ed and Aherla or any future fur babies we have.

Barry looked after our Barney. He kept us informed on how he was setting in. He sent us regular photos as well. It was a real home from home . We would definitely ask Barry to look after Barney for us again. We definitely recommend Barry to look after your 4 legged friends.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Yorkshire and the Humber may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
