5* Wakefield Council boarding/day care licence
Hello my name is Helen I have always been surrounded by animals from large dogs to the smallest of fur balls, I have taken in rescue Border Collies whom came with lots of challenging behaviours but also brought lots of love and friendship. I decided 15 years ago to set up my little animal business, looking after other peoples animals, whether this is offering home visits or dog boarding or day care at my home, as I hold a 5* Wakefield Council Licence, I have many repeat animal owners whom entrust me to look after their beloved pets. I am also a qualified dog/puppy trainer, first aider and in canine behaviour, so over the years I have had the privilege of working with some lovely dog owners and their dogs, for many different reasons, from training issues to more complex problems, regarding dogs being reactive. I have a vehicle which is kitted out, to ensure that your dog is transported around safely and securely.

I was really nervous about leaving my Pug Peach with anyone whilst we went on a family holiday. I needn’t have worried. Helen was absolutely amazing from the very beginning. Clear communication, and super friendly. I appreciated the constant communication, and videos and pictures, it helped me relax and enjoy my time, knowing peach was in great hands. Peach had a wonderful time, she fit straight in and was treated as a part of the family, including all the belly tickles she could want. She came home just as happy as when we left her. I would not hesitate to send peach for a holiday with Helen again. Thank you so much ❤️

Helen is absolutely wonderful. She’s incredible with our puppy and has such a calm, intuitive way with dogs, she really is a dog whisperer. We’re so grateful for the love and care she gives Athena.
Helen was lovely and took the time to meet us for a walk and get to know us before booking in an overnight stay to see how they got on. Unfortunately our dogs weren’t able to return as they didn’t settle in the change of environment and were barking at noises outside. Helen did explain on the meet and greet that she was very conscious of her neighbours and not creating too much noise and if there were issues she wouldn’t be able to look after them again. I didn’t think this would be a problem as our dogs are generally well settled and we haven’t had barking or noise issues in the home or at sitters in the past. We were asked to cut short the overnight trial and collect them in the evening. We weren’t able to and Helen did kindly accommodate keeping the dogs still until early the next morning. Ultimately it just wasn’t a good fit for them which was a shame as Helen was very professional and clearly loves her job. If you think your dogs may be a little barky or jumpy at noises outside, paying for a trial is perhaps not a great use of your money given the noise sensitivities at this particular sitters.

Great with communication and updates. Lovely woman, very honest and understanding. Knew straight away I could trust her with my fur baby Charlie and felt comfortable leaving him. Thank you :)

I would highly recommend Helen. She is a true dog lover. Helen looked after Jerry as though he was her own. I received videos of Jerry having fun and photos of him cuddling with Helen. He came home relaxed and settled so I know he had been looked after well. Thanks Helen.

My puppy had a great visit with Helen. I was kept up to date through out her socialisation visit. Booking was straight forward and Helen responded to all communication. I would definitely recommend,

Schedule
My life revolves around, looking after my Border Collies Fraggle age 12 and Maisy age 8 and the dogs that I have in my care on a daily basis, their priorities come first. Everyday, myself and the dogs are either enjoying tramping around in the woods at New Millerdam or Winterset Woods or a gentle stroll around Pugneys, I also have unlimited access to 23 acres of privately owned greenspace to walk around, as these beautiful places are right on my doorstep. My doggy owners love the photos and videos that I send to them on a daily basis, showing them the fun that we are having or the snuggles on the settee. (Please note that I do not walk more than 3 dogs at any one time, after an initial assessment, this will determine which dogs I walk together) Both Fraggle and Maisy, I have had the pleasure in having them since they were puppies, they are my world!!! They are both very sociable and love nothing more than being with me and other dogs enjoying our daily walks or cuddles on the settee.

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
My house is spacious with plenty of room for the dogs to move around in and the garden is enclosed with a 8ft fence, which is Wakefield Council Approved for my licence. This ensures that the dogs are safe and secure. If your dog is crate trained and you would prefer your dog to have the use of a crate whilst in my home, then I have a variety of sizes to choose from. At feeding times I have a variety of different types of Kong's and interacting toys to stimulate the dogs mind or if a dog has a tendency to eat it's food too fast, I have bowls especially designed to slow the dog down. Please note that I always do a free, meet and greet session, with you and your dog, as this gives both parties the opportunity to get to know one another and ask any questions or concerns.

A typical day
A typical day starts with the dogs having toilet time outside, which I always supervise, any senior dog/s will have toilet time by themselves so that any younger more energetic dog/s are not jumping all around them. Then it's medication and feeding time, depending on the instructions of the owner and the medication. I walk the senior dogs first as it's a slower paced walked and again depending on the requirements of the dog and owner's instructions, it's generally only 30 mins of gentle exercise. While the senior dog/s are resting after their walk, then it's time for the younger more energetic dogs time for their exercise, once all of these dogs are loaded onto the van, secure in their crates, then we will head to either New Millerdam, Winterset Woods, 23 acres of privately owned greenspace or I'll book a local, enclosed and secure dog park, where the dogs can drain their energies. Once we are all back home, it's cuddle time or for those dog/s that want to play, there are lots of interactive toys to play with. Around teatime the dog/s that require feeding will be fed, any senior dog or for the more energetic dog/s that may require another short and gentle walk, will be walked again for around 30 mins, this helps them settle down for bedtime.

- I will always do a meet and greet with you and your dog/s before your dog boards at my home, this gives us all the opportunity to meet one another and ask each other questions.
