“We would highly recommend Charlotte if you’re looking for a sitter, she was absolutely great from organising a meet and greet and providing regular updates while we were away. Olive had a lovely time and didn’t want to leave when we came to pick her up!”

“Dawn and her family were brilliant looking after our 2 doggies for 10 nights. Lots of updates, photos and videos. Treated them like one of the family. Both settled very well. Would definitely book again.”

About: I have loved all animals since a small child. I grew up with a west highland terrier, my brother had Rottweilers and I’ve helped look after neighbours dogs including labradors. I’ve been on borrow my doggie the last few years having looked after a whole range of dogs, including a rescue. I’m looking forward to looking after dogs on Rover now, too! I work full time, but I already have morning, lunchtime and evening walks (I jokingly describe myself as a dog!). Kirkstall Abbey and Becketts park are both less than 10 minutes to get to by foot - but I do have a car too for longer journeys. I’m in a flat, but it’s large and has a nice communal garden, my neighbours do have two very cute Maltese dogs, so any dog I care for will need to be friendly with other dogs. My flat is large and I have a nice medium sized fenced and gated communal garden. Any dogs I look after will get regular toilet breaks and walks. I don’t have any pets of my own at the moment, so your dog will get all of my attention!
“Our fur baby had never been looked after by anyone other than family before but as it was our daughters wedding and we had to find a dog boarder. We have been so lucky to find Hayley and her partner to look after Bonnie, they made us feel relaxed in leaving her and that it was home from home for her ie sleeping in the sofa and even their bed. We would definitely leave her again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them”

“Artur looked after my dog called scooby, he was amazing with him. We had 3 x daily updates including pictures of scooby, which was brillant to see and scooby looked happy and relaxed. You can see Artur really cares for the animals he looks after and I will definitely use again in the future. Artur was easy to book through rover, really easy to communicate with and arrange time for drop off and collection. Thank you for taking good care of scooby ❤️”

“We can't thank Andrea enough for looking after our beloved family dog Gus! Andrea was brilliant at keeping us updated with photos and videos of all the adventures and daily dog antics. Gus has come home very settled and we feel that this is due to the calm and caring environment Andrea has created for looking after dogs. I look forward to booking Gus on for his next Doggy retreat.”

“Would 100% recommend Julie as a sitter to anyone!! Such a lovely woman, attention to detail was second to none and nothing was too much of a problem. Our 8 yr old dachshund Draco can be a bit of a handful, but she was amazing with him and he clearly had such a lovely week with Julie as he’s been pining for her since he got home! We got lots of photos and regular updates which was lovely to see, he had lots of walks & little outings, like his own holiday. We even had an issue on day 2 where our arranged care for our other dachshund Luna was no longer an option, and Julie took her on for the rest of the week as well! I had nothing to worry about in terms of their care all week as they were clearly so well looked after and loved. I will absolutely be rebooking with Julie for future stays, a little home from home for both our dogs 💕”

“Absolutely the best. Jessica took such good care of my dog, Buddy, that I believe he wanted to stay. I will always use her whenever she is available and still sitting dogs.. I trust her completely.”

“Tracey helped us out at short notice when we were let down by another sitter. She was very accommodating to Alfie’s needs, gave him long walks and lots of care. We will definitely contact Tracey again next time we need a sitter.”

“Laura was amazing. Lenny had the best week with her and we wouldn’t hesitate to use her again. He was so relaxed and well looked after and made great friends with Kibou and Laura with lots of snuggles on the sofa. We got lots of lovely updates from Lenny’s time with Laura while we were away which was great and gave us peace of mind. Laura took Lenny for days out and lovely walks and he had such a brilliant time there. It’s the first time we’ve ever left Lenny with anyone outside of family and it couldn’t have gone any smoother. Laura’s communication was great in the build up and throughout and she even came to meet Lenny with Kibou beforehand to make sure the boys go on. 5 stars!!”

About: Hi, I’m Evelyn! I work fully remotely, can always be in to look after your pet. I grew up with four family toy size poodles and one Maltese from they were 8-week old until 16 to 18-year old. So, I have full-age dog care experiences for small size doggies. I'm also very active and organised, so I arrange time and to get out for a walk with pet. And to keep my pet with regular rules that can reduce their anxious. Although I haven't had a chance to own a cat myself. But I have experiences taking care and play with friends' cats. I'm a total animal lover and it makes me VERY happy to hang out with dogs and cats! Having spent so long with them, I understand their body and eye languages and respect them as a human being. I am flexible to be a regular sitter if you have long-term needed. Let's arrange it then can keep your pet feel comfortable and calm, they won't to change home so often when you absent. I am a home based employee, your pet will be with me in the flat and I will arrange my spare working hours to bring them out for toilet and regular walk. I have a very private and safe flat without stairs in a pet-friendly apartment. The apartment with a public garden can take your pet there for a small walk with lead if they don't need a long walk. The apartment with lift, and I never let a dog stay home or go out alone. In the flat, there are no sharp surfaces or dangerous steps. Your pet and me will spend our time in public area (kitchen and Living room) of flat. My office space is also locating in the living room, so I am able to see and hear them all the time.
“Beata and her daughter welcomed my very attached cockapoo into their home for a few days and did a wonderful job looking after her. My pup was really comfortable and relaxed with them from the moment they were introduced and they take their roles as dog carers seriously and professionally. Such lovely people with a natural affinity for dogs. Beata took my pup for walks in the countryside and they clearly showered her with attention and affection. I highly recommend Beata as a sitter.”

About: I grew up working on a farm where there were plenty of dogs, horses, sheep and other animals that I cared for. My family home was also full of dogs, cats, chickens, the lot! I even had my own pet sitting/walking business as a teenager. I have been in Leeds the last 8 years and since finally moving to a suitable flat with a big private garden I am now able to help care for other peoples pets. I am home most days of the week and love going out for walks and runs, and just generally spending time outside. I have a 9-5 job but I can work from home at least 3 days a week. I am around most weekends as well and love to get out and about! I have a fenced garden where the back door can be open all day if required! I can crate your dog if needed or just let them roam about. Happy to take them out on lunch breaks and after work too - whatever your dog requires!
“Coco had a lovely time with Deirdre and Liam. Deirdre was quick to respond to messages, and uploaded lots of photos to keep us updated. We would be very happy to leave Coco with them again.”

“Our Tibetan Terrier spent the weekend with Ericka while we were away. Ericka was very professional from a great first meet and greet to regular updates during and a debrief at the end. Our dog is a bit nervous but Ericka took everything on with grace. Her love for dogs really shone through the whole time. We will definitely be booking with her again!”

“Jess is a great dog sitter, as always she kept us updated and our dog porridge came back a happy tired pup. Would not hesitate to recommend and we will be rebooking in the future”

Brilliant. My senior rescue was at home with Thomas almost immediately and from the photos he was absolutely chilled and enjoyed himself the whole weekend. Thomas kept me updated, went out of his way to make sure he drank during the heatwave and dropped him off to save me a pet cab. Highly recommended dog sitter and an excellent bloke all round :) See you again!!

Thomas and Jess took the time to meet with us and our dogs before their trail overnight stay. Thomas took time to listen and ask questions about both dogs and what their needs were. He messaged us with any concerns and showed genuine care and thoughtfulness. We have already booked longer stay with Thomas and feel really reassured that our dogs will be well cared for.

Andrea was absolutely amazing with our spaniel Lily! We had daily updates and Lily came home exhausted after clearly a fun filled week of playing and walking! Her dog Keith is beautiful and so easily adaptable. I’m not convinced Lily was happy to come home. Will 100% be using Andrea again... ❤️

Thank you so much Artur for looking after Syd with so much love & attention. I was a little apprehensive leaving her but I needn’t be as she looked so contented on the photos you forwarded with daily updates. I highly recommend Artur who clearly has a passion caring for dogs , Syd loved staying with him, again many thanks.

Our greyhounds had a wonderful time staying with Abigail, Aleashia and Tiny. They kept us updated with daily photos, which gave us complete peace of mind while away. We felt very at ease and confident they received the best care. Will definitely be booking again in the future!

We left Cooper with Thomas whilst we went on holiday and he had a fantastic time. Coop can be quite uncomfortable around new people but over the course of the week and the constant picture updates he settled in really well. Thanks to Thomas for making Coop feel comfortable and all the walks they went on together.

Isabella looked after our greyhound for nearly a week and it was great! We felt super comfortable leaving our dog with her, she was very flexible and friendly. She was accommodating to all our dog’s needs and requests. Thank you for taking such good care of her! Will be booking again.

Rebecca was absolutely amazing! Our doggie Benny came home so happy but was also clearly saddened to leave Rebecca’s house and that’s just the best sign that he had a great time. We received many updates and photos and Rebecca was always so quick to get back to us! Absolutely recommend to anyone ❤️

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Yorkshire and the Humber may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
