“Honestly couldn’t recommend Kim enough!! She’s been absolutely amazing with Bonnie and has genuinely gone above and beyond for us 🥹❤️She’s been great with all her regular check ins and I’ve felt so comfortable knowing Bonnie is being looked after by her. She’s honestly so lovely with her and you can tell she genuinely cares. She’s also gone last minute when I’ve needed help, which I’m honestly so grateful for because she really didn’t have to! She’s always been so lovely, helpful and accommodating and nothing has ever felt like too much trouble. I’m so glad I found her and would 100% recommend her to anyone. Bonnie absolutely loves her too which is the main thing 🐾❤️”

“Absolutely fantastic - dealt with our high energy staffs with complete professionalism and humour. They were very happy to make a new friend. Thank you so much - will definitely book again in the future.”

“Caitlin was absolutely brilliant looking after my elderly, grumpy cat Susie! 🐱 She was patient and caring with her, even though Susie definitely isn’t the easiest cat to win over. It was really reassuring knowing Susie was being looked after by someone so attentive. Caitlin kept me updated throughout and I could tell Susie was in safe, caring hands. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Caitlin and would definitely have her look after Susie again. Thank you so much! ❤️”

“I’ve used Keyleigh a few times now to look after my Belgian Malinois puppy, Poppy, and she is amazing. She has been so kind, reliable, and it has been such a relief knowing our dog is in safe hands while we’re not there. They have been so kind, reliable and patient, and it has been such a relief knowing our dog is in safe hands while we’re not there. Our dog can be a little anxious and is still building confidence with being away from us and around other dogs, but they have been incredibly understanding and have taken the time to work with her at her own pace. It’s clear that they genuinely care about the animals they look after, rather than simply seeing it as a job. Communication has always been great, and I really appreciate the updates and reassurance we receive. Knowing Poppy is happy, well cared for and getting plenty of attention makes such a difference. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, caring and dependable to look after their dog.”

About: I've always had a genuine love for dogs and believe they deserve to be treated like part of the family. Caring for animals comes naturally to me, and I understand how important it is to find someone you can trust with your pet. I'm patient, reliable, and attentive to each dog's individual needs, whether they love long walks, playing, or simply having company and cuddles. I'll make sure your dog feels safe, happy, and well cared for while you're away, keeping to their usual routine as much as possible. I know leaving your dog with someone new can be worrying, so I'll always provide the same love, care, and attention that I'd want for my own pet. My goal is to give you complete peace of mind, knowing your dog is in kind, capable hands and having a wonderful time. Alongside working part-time as a hairdresser, I have a flexible schedule that allows me to dedicate plenty of time and attention to the dogs in my care. This means I can provide regular walks, playtime, companionship, and ensure your dog gets the love and care they deserve without ever feeling rushed. At the moment, I'm offering dog walking and drop-in visits. As I have a dog of my own at home, I'm unable to provide boarding or doggy day care right now.
“Frances was amazing, this is our third time now and we trust her completely! She plays with our cat, feeds him, brushes him and cuddle exactly like we would. She sends lots of pictures and she's always very friendly and polite. Our cat cannot wait to see her again!”

“Took great care of our boys for 10 days. She spends so much time with them and gives regular picture updates. Sorry about the sick you had to clean up a couple of times 🤣!! Thank you very very much, we will be booking Christel always!”

“Fantastic sitter, attentive and kind. It was our first time leaving Luna on her own for a few days and Amy really kept our mind at ease, and it’s clear that Luna loved her. Thanks again!”

“Thank You so much to Penny for looking after my 2 void kitties at short notice, she was very patient and understanding with my arrangements, as I’d booked wrong dates at first! She is so lovely and friendly too ❤️ Penny followed all requirements and ensured our home also looked after 👌 ⭐ would fully recommend 😻 xx”

“Sarah was fabulous. She kept us updated regularly and was consistent with her visits to our cat. We would highly recommend her and will be using her again when we need. Very trustworthy.”

“I can’t recommend Olivia enough! She took such amazing care of my doggies while I was away and gave me complete peace of mind. From the moment i met her, it was clear how caring, responsible, and attentive she is with animals. Throughout the time I was away, Olivia kept me constantly updated with lots of videos, photos, and messages, which meant so much to me. It was so reassuring to see how happy and relaxed the dogs were with her. She made sure they were well fed, comfortable, and had plenty of attention and time in the garden. It’s not easy trusting someone with your pets, but Olivia went above and beyond and treated them like her own. I came home to two very happy doggies! I’m incredibly grateful and would 100% recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter. We will definitely be using her again!!!”

About: I've been a lifelong dog lover and owner. Apart from the Yorkshire terrier I had as a child, I've always been a fan/owner of rescue dogs, all shapes n size's n ages n medical needs and more. I'm happy to give animals any medication they may need, I understand if any pets have fears about other dogs, or objects. I can appreciate if you or your pet have any routines that need to be followed, and I will always abide by any rules/needs you and your pet have. I've experience of nervous dogs. I've also self funded my level 3 qualification in canine first aid, and I'm always keen to learn more about animals, dogs in particular, their psychology needs, training, behaviour. And I looked after a friend's housecat in January, so I've learned to change litter trays, and the importance of keeping housecats safe. My friends cat needs medication at set times through the day, so I got up early to give this, I adapted to the needs of the cat, and I'd do the same for any animal. It is a long time since I had rabbits, guinea pigs etc, but if you can educate about what you require me to do for your pet, then I'm eager to learn! Currently I help to care for my elderly father part time, but I have plenty of time to care for your pet needs. I don't have any children, and are unable to have my own pets , so I'd love to help other people care for their pets. I'm very adaptable, I drive my own car, I'm happy to work around your schedule. All I want to do is keep your pet and yourself happy. I adapt to whatever the situation I'm in presents to me. I understand that as humans are unique, so are our pets too. Keeping pets to routine they are used to me matters hugely to me, and equally keeping pets safe is of the utmost importance to me. As is respecting your and your pets privacy, I would never take a photo of your pet without permission, and I'd never post on social media. When I had my own dogs, I'd get up and let them into the garden if needed, then a cuddle and fuss, give them a little bit of breakfast, I'd have a cuppa, get dressed, and we would go for a walk. Then back home, a clean up if needed, a treat for them. If they wanted to play with toys then we would, if they wanted a nap they had one. Then another walk in the afternoon, then their main meal around 5pm, a dental stick around 6.30pm. Then more play if wanted, outside in the garden. Or snuggling on the sofa with me. I've tended to have mature dogs who enjoyed snoozing, but I was happy to go with whatever the dogs wanted. If my dogs needed it, they were bathed outdoors, as my bathroom is small lol.
About: Dogs have been a big part of my life for many years, and I have had four dogs of my own as an adult. This has given me lots of practical, hands-on experience and made me very comfortable caring for dogs with different personalities, routines and needs. I have also looked after friends’ and family members’ dogs in my home, so I understand how important it is to create a calm, safe and caring environment where dogs can feel settled and relaxed. I know how much trust it takes to leave your pet with someone else, and I would always treat your dog with the same kindness, patience and attention I would want for my own. I am reliable, attentive and genuinely enjoy being around dogs, and I would always aim to make sure your pet feels happy, comfortable and well cared for. I have a flexible routine, so I can make sure pets get the time, care and attention they need. I am happy to work around walks, feeding times and your pet’s usual habits to help them feel comfortable and settled. I have a fenced garden and a friendly pug-cross to keep your pets company. There are also three teenagers at home so the will never be lonely and have lots of attention.

About: Hi! My name is kanan and I’m a huge dog lover who truly enjoys spending time with furry friends. I have experience caring for dogs through looking after my friend’s dog, which included feeding, walking, playtime, and making sure they felt safe and happy while their owner was away. I currently work two days a week, which means I have plenty of time and flexibility to give your dog the attention and care they deserve. Whether it’s a fun walk, playtime, or simply keeping them company, I make sure every dog feels comfortable, loved, and well looked after. I understand that every dog has their own personality and needs, so I’m happy to adapt to their routine — whether they’re energetic and playful or prefer calm walks and cuddles. Your dog’s safety, happiness, and comfort are always my top priorities. If you’re looking for someone reliable, caring, and enthusiastic to walk or look after your dog, I’d love to help! I can’t wait to meet you and your pup 🐶 Pet care fits very naturally into my daily routine. I make sure to plan my schedule so I have enough time to feed the cats, clean their litter trays, and spend quality time with them. I enjoy giving them attention, playing with them, and making sure they feel comfortable and relaxed while their owners are away. Throughout the day I check on them regularly to make sure they are doing well and have everything they need. I’m also happy to keep to the cat’s usual routine, whether that means specific feeding times, playtime, or quiet companionship. Caring for cats is something I genuinely enjoy, so I always make sure they feel safe, cared for, and not lonely. I always make sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and relaxed whether I’m caring for them in my home or in their owner’s home. I follow the pet’s usual routine as closely as possible, including feeding times, playtime, and any specific instructions from the owner. This helps pets feel secure and keeps their day consistent. I’m very attentive to their behavior and needs, making sure they have fresh water, a clean litter tray, and a calm environment. I also give them attention and companionship while respecting their personality—some cats love to play and interact, while others prefer quiet company. If I’m in the owner’s home, I treat their space with care and respect and make sure everything stays clean and tidy. I also keep owners updated so they know their pet is safe and doing well. My goal is always to create a calm, trusting environment where pets feel comfortable and well cared for.
About: I have owned numerous dogs over the years and currently have 2 Labradors. I have taken care of my friends and families dogs when they go on holiday or if they are out for the day and need me to walk or feed their dogs I currently work part time and the time I’m not at work I spend at home or out and about with my 2 Labradors so your dog would just fit in with our daily adventures and routine I have a secure high fenced back garden which is accessed via French doors so your dog can come in and out as they wish. We have lovely off road walks around our area so plenty of adventuring for us to do. My dogs have the full run of my downstairs and are never left alone for longer than a couple of hours should I need to nip out.
“I would definitely recommend Kim, she’s been doing drop in visits with Penny this week while I’ve been working extra hours. Penny is always well fed, watered and happy when I get home. I’ll continue to use Kim regularly going forward, I’ve also made myself a new friend.”

“Shannon is great, I couldn't recommend her more! She took care of my cat for two weeks, like he was her own pet. Can you expect more from a sitter? :) She is communicative, punctual, reliable, kind and trustworthy. Her every day "reports" from drop-in visits contained everything you would want to know about how your pet is doing - their feel, mood, condition, and so on. Also, she always includes a lot of pictures of our cat, which was the main highlight for us. She's always willing to do that extra mile if you are in need, like add an extra bowl of water or reset an automatic cat feeder that isn't always working flawlessly. Or top it up with cat food. Definitely, I will book her again because I know that my cat is in good hands!”

About: Dogs & cats have always been around in my life and I genuinely have a huge spot in my heart for animals. Growing up I loved looking after family & friends pets and exploring new places with them. Both my family and my partners' family have plenty of pets and we love being the favourite big sibling and giving them treats and lots of attention. Our families have lots of dogs of different breeds and we even have our own trained therapy dog Betty (who is Minnie’s best friend and auntie). I love spending my free time in their company and having the best bond with them. Hopefully, I can share that with your pet too! :) I have my own miniature dachshund, Minnie, who is an absolute bundle of joy. She is currently at doggy training school. She will always be with me, so as long as your pet is good with a very typical sausage dog, then I am the right fit for you. I’m currently working full-time, but I WFH so I’m always around for the pooch. I have plenty of breaks in my day to accommodate toilet breaks and walks to stretch their legs. I am the gal for any pet walking needs and drop-in visits to your home. I am a very organised person who loves a routine, so if your dog requires medication etc, I will be very punctual with feeding times etc. I can easily bring a crate and I can bring my pooch with me if you wish, as I know some dogs need other dogs company around humans. Alongside me, my partner loves animals too and will frequently ask to join me on dog walks. This definitely comes in handy for dealing with larger dogs and often helps when dealing with dogs that are more comfortable with male presence.
“Liam was brilliant and looked after my cat Gus so well while I was away for a couple of nights. He sent lots of pictures and kept me in the loop with everything they got up to! I would absolutely recommend and will be looking to book with Liam again for my next trip in August.”

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Wakefield choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a key safe. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalised codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in a flat, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or lift etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy.
