About: I've always had dogs in my life. I lost two elderly dogs last year and so badly miss having dogs . I dog sit for our friends dogs whenever possible, but would like to open our home to more. More cuddles, more walks, more mess and more craziness. If you have a dog who needs close attention and wants to feel secure, I can give that care. If your dog needs long walks, I would love that. Our two dogs became infirm when they were old. If you dog needs extra care as an elderly dog, I have the experience. I hold independent comprehensive dog-care insurance. I work part time from home. No routine as such, so I can fit around what your dog needs. Some days are quiet and other days include a long walk and play. We have a large, fenced, dog friendly garden which is completely secure. Your dog will have plenty of room, inside and out. Plus my bed to sleep on, if that is what they like.

About: Experienced, Loving Family Dog Sitters 🐾 Hello! We're a dog-loving family with a lifetime of experience caring for dogs. Between us, my partner and I have owned and looked after dogs for most of our lives, and caring for them is something we genuinely love. After regularly dog sitting for friends and family, we've decided to open our home to more dogs and their owners. We have two young children, aged 4 and 5, who absolutely adore dogs and have grown up around them. Because of this, the safety and comfort of both our children and any visiting dogs is extremely important to us. We only accept dogs that are comfortable, gentle, and trustworthy around young children, ensuring a safe and happy environment for everyone. One of the biggest benefits we can offer is that both of us work from home full-time. This means your dog will rarely be left alone and will receive plenty of attention, companionship, and care throughout the day. Whether your dog enjoys playtime, cuddles on the sofa, or simply having people around, we'll tailor our care to suit their individual personality and needs. We have a small front garden available for quick toilet breaks, and we're also just minutes away from large open fields, parks, and beautiful nature walks. Regular walks and exercise will be provided according to your dog's age, energy levels, and routine. We understand that leaving your dog with someone else can feel daunting, so we'll treat them as if they were our own—providing a safe, loving, and caring home while you're away. We look forward to meeting you and your four-legged family member! 🐶 Lots of love, attention, walks, and cuddles guaranteed. Pet care is a natural part of our daily routine. Both my partner and I work from home full-time, so we're able to provide constant supervision, regular toilet breaks, feeding, playtime, and plenty of companionship throughout the day. We regularly care for dogs belonging to friends and family, and we enjoy incorporating walks into our daily schedule. We live just minutes from large fields and nature walks, allowing us to provide exercise tailored to each dog's needs. As a family of dog lovers, spending time with and caring for dogs is something we genuinely enjoy, so any dogs staying with us become part of our everyday family life while they're in our care. We care for every dog as if they were our own and always aim to keep them as comfortable and settled as possible by following their usual routine. Before any stay, we'll discuss your dog's feeding schedule, exercise requirements, sleeping arrangements, medications, and any special needs to ensure continuity of care. In our home, dogs will have plenty of companionship throughout the day as both of us work from home full-time. They'll receive regular toilet breaks, walks tailored to their energy levels and needs, playtime, affection, and a safe, family environment. We have a small yard for quick toilet breaks and are just minutes away from large fields and nature walks for longer exercise sessions. We only accept dogs that are comfortable around young children, as we have two children aged 4 and 5 who have grown up around dogs and love interacting with them. If caring for a pet in the owner's home, we would follow all instructions provided, maintaining the dog's normal routine as closely as possible. This includes feeding, walks, playtime, administering medication if required, and ensuring they receive plenty of attention and care while their owners are away. Throughout any booking, we are happy to provide regular updates and photos for peace of mind, so owners can see that their pet is happy, safe, and well cared for.

About: i have always been a really caring person. we got our first family dog at the age of 10 and from then always took great care of him, always the one to do all aspects of his care (the good and the bad) i went to uni and completed my nursing degree in jan 2025, unfortunately i had a sporting accident and broke my back and subsequently lost my job. as soon as i became an adult, i rescued my little tri girl (pippa) and the poor soul has come such a long way since living with me and after lots of exposure and training. 2 years ago, i got my first puppy as an adult, my blenheim girl (nellie) she has become the sweetest little soul and we’ve taken part in lots of socialisation, agility, and she is now starting her therapy dog training **** please note i cannot drive so am only available for toilet trips that i can access via bus/walking but will be unable to pick up/drop off from your house (unless your dog is comfortable on a bus or the distance is within walking distance) **** due to my recent accident, i’m unable to work my nursing job. i’m currently still in the rehab phase after relearning to walk. i’m at home much of the time with my 2 girls so it would be perfect company for dogs that are otherwise left alone they would have some play mates and cuddle buddies! i would incorporate their regular routine in so things stay familiar for the dog aswell. i have a large grassy garden, that’s fenced. a sand pit for the dogs, lots of water toys and outdoor toys plus an outdoor sofa. the dogs will be allowed in all areas of my house (if you allow) my dogs sleep in my bed and sit on the sofa with me during the day. i have a door before the front door for safety at the front door.

About: Pets have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. My family has a lovable 11-year-old Labrador whom I helped train from puppyhood — from basic commands to good leash manners. We also shared 18 wonderful years with a gentle British Shorthair cat, so I understand the unique needs of both dogs and cats at every life stage. Whether it’s energetic playtime, patient training, or quiet cuddles, I treat every pet like my own. Your furry family member will get the same love, attention, and care I’ve given my own for decades. Because I work from home, your pet gets my full attention all day. I can easily fit in frequent potty breaks, play sessions, and walks, and I’m always around for company and cuddles. My flexible schedule means I can stick closely to your pet’s routine — whether that’s early morning walks, midday training, or late-night check-ins. Having pets around while I work makes my day better, and I love giving them the same care, patience, and companionship I’ve given my own over the years Whether your pet is staying at my place or I’m visiting yours, they’ll get the same love, attention, and comfort they’re used to. In my home, I make sure there’s plenty of space to play, cozy spots for naps, and a safe, calm environment. I stick to your pet’s routine for feeding, walks, and playtime so they feel secure and happy. When I care for pets in their own home, I keep things consistent — from their favorite walk routes to the way they like their food prepared. My goal is to make every visit or stay feel like home, so your furry friend stays relaxed, loved, and well-cared for.

About: Having had dogs all my life, I have finally decided do something I really love on a full time basis. I've had over 40 years experience of looking after my own dogs along with those of family and friends. These have ranged from Patterdales and Staffies to Spaniels, Schnauzers, Collies and, currently, my beautiful, female, retriever cross. I am a volunteer with a local dog rescue and this involves doing home checks to assess the suitability of adopters and also doing home visits to assess dogs who, sadly, need to be brought into rescue. Despite having no formal canine related qualifications, my friends say my dogs are always well trained and theirs often go home doing new tricks because I love to play games with them. Coming from an education background and managing 30 kids in a classroom means I have lots of skills and an abundance of patience! I've raised many puppies, nursed them in their old age and am used to giving medication and any individual care that may be required. You are welcome to visit and look at where your dog will be staying. I would also suggest a short walk around the area to allow our dogs to have an introduction before then coming back for a cuppa to see how they get on in my home environment. I already have my own 6 year old female retriver cross who needs lots of exercise and time to play. Another dog would fit easily into our daily routine and with us both being fit and active, we're usually out walking at least twice a day. If you would prefer your dog to be walked individually this isn't a problem as I do not have to work around any set hours. I have a large, fenced garden and live in an area with lots of footpaths and walking routes. I live in a cul-de-sac away from the main road and there is a big green in front of my house which is great for those dogs who refuse to toilet in the garden! I have a large spare crate so you wouldn't need to bring a crate with you if your dog is crate trained.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Doggy Day Care in Wakefield on Rover is £25.3 per day (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Doggy Day Care easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Doggy Day Care. For more information on service fees, click here .

There are 1,415 sitters on Rover for Doggy Day Care in Wakefield. About 85% of Wakefield sitters can respond to requests in under 60 minutes. Whether you are planning ahead for public holidays, need last-minute care, or need same-day cover for an urgent trip, you can message multiple sitters at once to find available care.

Once you find the right match, you can arrange a Meet & Greet to ensure they are a perfect fit for your pet’s personality before confirming.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later collection to match your Wakefield commute.

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust collection and drop-off times when needed.

Your dog’s first day care experience is a big milestone! To help your pup settle in comfortably, we recommend:

  • Food and treats portioned for the day, with feeding instructions
  • Your dog's lead and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)
  • Any seasonal gear, such as paw-safe wax for winter or a cooling vest for the summer
  • Medication, if applicable, with clear dosage notes
  • Any special care instructions or training tips to help your sitter provide the most personalised care possible

Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in Yorkshire and the Humber may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a qualified vet or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s booking protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
