This was our first time using a pet sitter and Matthew and Greta made the whole experience so much easier. They immediately made Beau feel welcome and weren't at all phased by the fact she is a four month old puppy. We received regular pupdates and Beau was really happy there. We have already booked in Beau's next stay with Matthew, Greta and their lovely children.

Maria was great with communication and we left our dog in good hands for 12 days with Maria when we went abroad for a family holiday. We had the opportunity to meet Maria and her dog Bambi at their home before making the booking to ensure it was a good fit for both sides and to discuss any concerns. Received plenty of photos and updates and on returning home our boy is very happy and has been well looked after, definitely recommend and will use Marias services again if needed

About: Lifelong Dog Owner Dogs have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. Being a lifelong dog owner has given me years of hands-on experience caring for dogs with different personalities, needs and behaviours. I understand that every dog is an individual, and I believe patience, consistency, kindness and understanding are at the heart of responsible dog ownership. Experienced Dog Foster Parent My experience as a foster parent has allowed me to care for dogs who have needed additional support, reassurance and stability while preparing for the next chapter of their lives. Fostering has helped me develop a deeper understanding of how dogs can respond differently to new environments and experiences. I have learned the importance of allowing a dog to progress at their own pace, building trust gradually and providing a calm, safe and supportive environment. One of the most rewarding aspects of fostering has been watching dogs grow in confidence and helping them become ready for their forever homes. Animal Charity Committee Member My involvement as an animal charity committee member has given me experience beyond my own dogs and foster care. It has allowed me to contribute to the wider welfare of animals and support the important work carried out by charities and volunteers. Being involved at committee level has also given me an appreciation of the organisation, commitment and teamwork required behind the scenes to support animal welfare, fundraising, awareness and responsible pet ownership. Dog Boutique Owner As the owner of a specialist dog boutique, my passion for dogs is also part of my everyday working life. Meeting dogs and their owners regularly has broadened my experience considerably. I enjoy getting to know individual dogs, understanding what their owners are looking for and helping them choose products that are appropriate for their dog's lifestyle and needs. My aim is to create an environment where both dogs and their humans feel welcome, comfortable and valued. My Approach to Dogs My experience as an owner, foster parent, charity committee member and business owner has taught me that there is never a one-size-fits-all approach to dogs. Every dog has their own personality, history, preferences and way of communicating. I believe in taking the time to understand the individual dog, treating them with kindness and respect, and always putting their welfare first. For me, working with dogs isn't simply an interest — they have been a constant part of my life, and that lifetime of experience continues to shape everything I do today. Looking after your dog would be a structured but flexible part of my day. I would plan morning and evening walks around my existing schedule, making sure your dog is fed, exercised, and given attention at consistent times. Short check-ins during the day would help maintain routine and comfort for the dog, while also fitting around my work or personal commitments. My dogs are very much part of the family, and their happiness, health and wellbeing are at the centre of their daily routine. They have a safe, comfortable and loving home environment where they receive plenty of attention, companionship and affection. I believe dogs thrive when they feel secure and have a consistent routine, so their days include regular feeding, exercise, enrichment, play, rest and quality time with us. Exercise & Enrichment My dogs receive regular exercise appropriate to their individual needs, age and energy levels. Alongside walks and physical exercise, I understand the importance of mental stimulation. Enrichment, play, toys, scent-based activities and interaction are all used to keep them engaged and prevent boredom. Feeding & Treats I take a responsible approach to feeding and choose food and treats with my dogs' individual needs in mind. Fresh drinking water is always available, and treats are given appropriately as part of their overall routine. Health & Wellbeing Their health is taken seriously, with regular veterinary care and attention to preventative healthcare, grooming and general wellbeing. I also pay close attention to changes in behaviour, appetite, mobility or general demeanour, as these can sometimes be early indications that a dog isn't feeling quite themselves. Companionship & Individual Care Most importantly, my dogs receive plenty of companionship. I spend time getting to know their individual personalities, preferences and boundaries rather than expecting every dog to behave or respond in the same way. Their routines are adapted when necessary to suit their individual needs. Whether they want to play, explore, have some quiet time or simply settle down nearby, I believe dogs should be able to feel relaxed and secure in their home. The same principles would apply when caring for someone else's dog. I would respect the routine and instructions provided by their owner while making sure their dog receives the same level of patience, attention, safety and care that I expect for my own.

Well what can I say Alison is AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING 🤩 It took me 2 yrs to find this lovely dog caring lady . My dog Honey has never been left with anyone before as she suffers from separation anxiety and cannot be left alone . Because of this problem it was difficult to find someone who would care for her and be there 24/7 but I eventually found Alison she cared and loved for Honey the same as I do with lots of love and cuddles and she really put my mind at ease so that I could enjoy my holiday with regular updates . 10 🌟

Katie was great with our young Golden, Finn. We were dropping him off on route to friends so weren’t able to do a meet and greet but it wasn’t a problem. Katie’s responses before we met were friendly and helpful so we felt confident from the beginning. We got updates on how he was doing and he was well looked after! Thanks again Katie and if we’re ever in the area again we would definitely reuse.

We had such a great experience and felt completely at ease leaving our little Pomeranian girl for two weeks. From the very beginning, it was clear how much they genuinely care about the dogs they look after. We visited before booking so our dog could meet them first, which really helped put us at ease. Their house was very clean and felt like a safe, comfortable environment for a small dog. Communication was easy and responsive throughout our time away, and they regularly sent us photos and updates, which we really appreciated. When we picked her up, she was happy, relaxed, and clearly comfortable with them — not stressed at all. It genuinely felt like she had been treated as part of the family. Leaving your dog for an extended period isn’t easy, but they made the whole experience completely stress-free. Knowing she was happy, comfortable, and well cared for meant everything to us. We’d happily leave her with them again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to other dog owners. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If I could give 6 stars instead of 5 I would. I contacted Paul to look after my dog, Henderson. After meeting Paul and seeing how his dog Oli and Henderson got along, Paul decided he would take care of Henderson—and I’m so glad he did. When someone is truly exceptional at what they do, they deserve real respect, and Paul has my utmost respect. He sent me videos and photos every single day, which reassured me completely that Henderson was having the time of his life—playing with Oli and going on walk after walk, every day. I can honestly say Henderson will never go into kennels again. Paul fed him fresh chicken and beef, treated him like his own, and loved him the same way I do. Henderson loves his cuddles, and Paul gave him plenty of those too. Please consider Paul to look after your dog. You won’t just find a dog sitter—you’ll feel like you’ve found a friend who genuinely looks after your best friend. Thank you, Paul. Henderson and I are already looking forward to my next holiday and his next holiday with you.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Dog Boarding in Doncaster on Rover is £33.35 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Dog Boarding easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Dog Boarding. For more information on service fees, click here .

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in Yorkshire and the Humber may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
