“Tara obviously is thoroughly invested in providing a professional and accommodating house sitting service. She engaged immediately with a meet and greet at my house and took on board my requests etc. I would have no hesitation in booking Tara again.”

“John did a wonderful job looking our two border terriers, including one grumpy senior. He kept us informed about their well being with regular pictures and this made our trip more relaxing as we weren’t worrying about the dogs. We came home to a tidy house and happy dogs. I think they had a wonderful time with John and were actually a little disappointed we were home 🤣. I would use John again without hesitation.”

“Julie was amazing, she was so good with Alfie taking him on long walks and sending us updates while we were away. Alfie takes a while to warm up to people but he was so comfortable around her. We definitely would recommend, she was great and such a lovely person 😊”

“Katie's dog sitting service exceeded all expectations, providing exceptional care for my elderly rescue dog, Betty, who currently struggles with behavioural issues. Katie's expertise and genuine love for dogs shone through in every aspect of her service. From the moment I stepped into her home, I felt reassured by the clean and welcoming environment she had created. It was evident that Katie had tailored her space perfectly for dog sitting, ensuring it was both comfortable and safe for furry guests like Betty. What truly set Katie apart was her patience and understanding. She took the time to connect with Betty, recognising her unique needs and quirks. This level of attentiveness instilled confidence in me, knowing that Betty was in capable hands. Throughout Betty's stay, Katie provided regular updates and delightful photos, allowing me to relax knowing she was in good spirits. These thoughtful touches demonstrated Katie's commitment to transparency and ensuring pet owners remained connected with their beloved companions. In addition to Katie's exceptional care, I must also commend her wonderful dog, Daisy. Daisy's presence added an extra layer of warmth and comfort to Betty's stay. It was apparent that Daisy embodied the same attributes of nurturing care, remarkable patience, and endearing charm as Katie. Their dynamic duo made Betty's experience even more enjoyable, and I am grateful for the positive influence they had on her during her stay. Katie and Daisy truly make an unbeatable team, and I cannot thank them enough for their outstanding service In summary, Katie's professionalism, genuine care, and expertise make her an outstanding choice for anyone seeking a dog sitter. I wholeheartedly recommend her services and look forward to entrusting Betty to her care again in the future.”
“Tamara was wonderful with Maude. I came home to a happy healthy pup who had blatantly had the best time with this lovely calm and confident young lady. Thank you so so much Tamara and I would highly recommend her to anyone in the area she’s a gem !”

“Jordan was excellent at looking after our two dachshunds, one of which has a disability and therefore his needs are quite particular. It was a long day, 6.30am - 8pm house sit but Jordan patient and kind and was able to keep us posted throughout the day. Both dogs were happy and took to Jordan really well. 100% would have her back for another house sit.”

“Jonny helped us out at short notice. He was really friendly and communicative. Our dog Teddy seems to have had a really good time with him. Appreciated the photos throughout the day. Thanks Jonny!”

“Cannot praise Carol enough for looking after our cats and the house. Right from the pre-visit, we were confident that Carol was going to be the perfect fit for us. During our stay away, Carol kept us updated on the cats, how they were, what they were up to and we were happy that everything was perfect. Carol knew what we expected and went above and beyond to ensure the cats were happy and contented. Carol is a fantastic pet sitter and I cannot recommend her highly enough. Will definitely be asking her to sit for us again in the future.”

“Emily was brilliant throughout, she visited my house prior to looking after Judge to meet us both. Communication was excellent and Judge was content when I arrived home. Emily remained very flexible over the two days which was key and enabled me to enjoy my time away.”

About: I’m a doctor and Pet First Aid & CPR certified, with additional training in feline behaviour. I genuinely love cats and have cared for all sorts of personalities and little quirks 😊 I only board one household at a time, so your cat gets plenty of attention and space. For me, it’s not just about food and litter, I keep an eye on their mood, eating, grooming and how comfortable they are, and I’ll keep you updated with plenty of photos along the way. My home is calm with no children or other pets, and has got large windows and lovely views for them to enjoy while they settle in. 🐾 I’m currently preparing for an exam, so I’m home most of the day. I’ll either be studying or spending time with the cats, so they’ll get plenty of company, attention and cuddles. I understand how important it is for cats to keep to their usual routine, so I always try to keep their feeding, playtime and sleep routine as familiar as possible. 🐾 I know leaving your cat with someone else can feel like a big deal, so I treat every cat as I’d want someone to treat mine.I’m specifically careful with their food, medication, exercise and any little instructions you leave me. My home is quiet, clean, pet-free and child-free, so your cats have a calm space to settle in and feel at home

About: I’ve grown up with both cats and dogs and have spent my whole life caring for animals. Over the years, I’ve regularly looked after pets for friends and family while they were away, including feeding, walking, playing, administering basic care, and making sure they felt comfortable and loved in their owners’ absence. As a pet owner myself, I understand how important it is to find someone trustworthy to care for your pets. I treat every animal as if they were my own, paying close attention to their routines, needs, and personalities. Whether your pet enjoys long walks, playtime, or simply some company and cuddles, I’ll make sure they receive plenty of care and attention while you’re away. I work from home and have a very flexible schedule, so I’m able to spend lots of time with the pets in my care. Whether your pet enjoys company, playtime, regular walks, or simply having someone nearby, I’ll make sure they receive plenty of attention throughout the day. I have a secure fenced garden and a friendly indoor cat. While she is gentle and calm around other animals, she can be a little nervous around unfamiliar pets. To ensure a stress-free environment for everyone, I can keep her on a separate floor of the house when needed. My home has three floors, providing plenty of space to safely separate pets if required. I will always make sure that both your pet and my cat are comfortable, happy, and well cared for during their stay!
“Alicia was very quick to respond for a very short notice booking Request . Alicia arrived promptly - she was very good with Millie who has Separation Anxiety From the picture Millie looked very relaxed . I would definitely contact her again to look after Millie”

About: I regularly care for a friendly cocker spaniel, so it's important that your dog is comfortable around other dogs. I've been informally dog sitting for around two years now and I really enjoy it. I work an office job during the week, so I am available to help from Friday at 3pm until Sunday evening. I'm an active sitter and love a long outdoor adventure in all weathers. I'm just as happy to take a stroll on lead down my nearby lanes, engage in a game of fetch or have a cheeky snuggle on the sofa for the afternoon - sometimes its hard to tell who's having more fun :) Your dogs will be free to roam around the bungalow, which is based in a quiet cul de sac in Great Houghton. There are no rules to where they can go, they are free to enjoy beds, sofas and the small enclosed garden we have out the back of the bungalow. I will try to stick to your normal routines where possible and will of course send updates and photos as many times as you need, I want you to feel just as relaxed as your pet. I work Monday to Friday so I'm only available on weekends. I usually have a cocker spaniel on a Saturday so please only get in touch if your dog is comfortable around other dogs I'm in a quiet cul de sac with an enclosed garden. There are lots of fun walks near me in varying length. Animals that stay here are treated as members of the family and will be loved and cared for as you would your own :)
About: I have had pets since I was 10 years old. I have had cats, dogs and kittens and also rabbits. I have experience looking after people’s kittens/cats/senior cats and also puppies/adult dogs and senior dogs. I have medication administration experience as our old senior cat had medical conditions which required medication. I love looking after furbabies to ensure their individual needs are being met taking into consideration their different personalities. I currently work a 9-5 job Monday to Friday but I am free evenings and over the weekend. Over the weekend I am more flexible to look after pets in my own home, take them for walks and do drop in sessions. I can also offer dog walking/ drop in sessions in the evening after work hours. I have a fenced backyard for your furbaby and I am a 5 minute walk away from a field. I am available to meet up prior to a sit/walk or drop in so I am able to meet you and your furbaby so you can assess who is going to look after your family member.

“Jessie settled well with Jessica and the two of them seemed to have a great time. We came home to a very happy dog - she obviously hadn't missed us very much. Jessica was brilliant - the house was spotless. As if no-one had been here. We would definitely use Jessica and Rover again. Thank you”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.

- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Selby choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
