“Yang is absolutely wonderful. She popped to see me the day before to meet Margot (puppy) she arrived early on the pup sitting day. She made a fuss of puppy straight away and I knew Margot would be in safe hands. Yang kept in touch throughout the day. I’ll 100% be using Yang to pup sit again (if she is agreeable) wonderful lady and dog sitter. Thank you so much xxxx”

With most of my work being done online I am flexible to make lots of time for walks and playtime! I prioritize safety, trust, and comfort in every visit. I create a secure environment by keeping pets supervised, following your pets usual routines, and ensuring they have fresh water, meals, and plenty of love and attention. About: I’ve taken care of dogs my entire life and have trained or owned pups from every “walk” of life - from small to large, young puppies to elderly pooches, rugged rescues to pampered pedigrees - I’ve loved them all and want to give your precious pup all the attention they deserve! ☺️ I have a precious pup of my own who loves to have new furry friends around! I like to spend a lot of time outside so walks and playing in the field are frequent. Otherwise, we’ll be found studying at one of the dog-friendly coffee shops. 🙂 I take frequent breaks from work to play with my pup so there is no shortage of affection and attention for dogs here! I also have several dog beds in my home office so if your pup likes to snuggle/sit on laps I’m always up for that while I work. 🐶
About: I understand that leaving your pet with someone new can feel like a big decision, so my priority is always to make sure they feel safe, comfortable and well cared for while you’re away. I’m happy to follow your pet’s usual routine, including walks, feeding times, playtime and plenty of attention and cuddles if they enjoy them. I also understand that every pet is different, and I’m happy to take the time to get to know their personality and what makes them feel comfortable. For house sitting, I’m respectful of your home and will treat it with the same care and consideration I would expect for my own. I’m also happy to keep you updated with messages and photos while you’re away, so you can relax knowing your pet is doing well. I’d love to meet you and your pet beforehand, go through their routine and make sure we’re a good fit. I look forward to meeting your furry friend! 🐾 I work in an office Monday to Friday, usually from 9am to 5pm, but I have the flexibility to WFH when needed. This means I can be quite flexible with pet care, especially for longer stays. My weekends are completely free, so I’m available to give pets plenty of time, attention and company. I’m happy to work around their usual routine and make sure they feel comfortable and well cared for while you’re away. I’ll care for your pets in their own home, where they already feel safe and comfortable. I believe keeping their usual environment and routine can make a big difference while you’re away. I’ll follow your instructions carefully, give them plenty of attention and make sure they feel happy and relaxed in their own space. I’ll also treat your home with the same care and respect I would expect for my own, so you can have peace of mind knowing your pets are in good hands while you’re away.
“Helen is a delight! Really helped us out at short notice, and took Fred from another sitter, despite not meeting Fred before, and it was a late-at-night sitting. Fred was looked after beautifully, and we could not be more thankful for Helen for allowing us to feel that Fred was in safe hands. 10/10.”

“Tamara was wonderful with Maude. I came home to a happy healthy pup who had blatantly had the best time with this lovely calm and confident young lady. Thank you so so much Tamara and I would highly recommend her to anyone in the area she’s a gem !”

“Vicky was absolutely fantastic. She was punctual, clean, respectful, and genuinely honest in every interaction. My dog, Morgana, took an instant liking to her, which is something that doesn’t happen too often. It was clear from the start that Vicky has a calm, intuitive way with animals. I felt completely at ease knowing Morgana was in her care, and I’d be more than happy to invite Vicky back to look after her anytime in the future. A truly wonderful dogsitter. Thank you!”

“Emma looked after Misty for us whilst we had a family celebration day. Emma soon had Misty settled and comfy and they had a good day together which included two walks. Emma sent us photos and a video of their outings and Misty looked happy with their adventures. Misty has taken to Emma and we will certainly be using her services again. Thank you Emma for taking such good care of Misty for us.”

About: I’ve grown up surrounded by all kinds of animals, from cats and dogs to chickens, horses, and even a rescue fawn! Animals have always been a big part of my life, and caring for them is something I genuinely love. Over the past few years, I’ve had the opportunity to travel the world, including spending time in New Zealand where I was fortunate enough to house-sit and care for some wonderful dogs. I’ve also built up experience through TrustedHousesitters, looking after pets in their own homes and making sure they feel safe, happy and well cared for while their owners are away. I’m very happy to provide references from my TrustedHousesitters stays if you’d like to hear about my experience from previous pet owners. Now that I’m back in the UK and settled in York, I’d love to continue doing what I enjoy and help care for your pets. While I’m not currently able to have a dog of my own, this gives me the perfect opportunity to enjoy plenty of walks, playtime and cuddles with yours! I’ll always treat your pets as if they were my own, taking the time to understand their individual personalities, routines and needs. Whether your dog loves long walks and adventures, a good game of fetch, or simply curling up on the sofa for some company, I’m here to make sure they feel happy, comfortable and loved while you’re away. I know how important it is to leave your pet in someone you can trust, and I’ll do everything I can to give you peace of mind while they’re in my care. I’m primarily available for house-sitting and dog walks at weekends, as I work full-time during the week. Depending on the location, I may also be able to offer midday dog walks during the week, so please feel free to get in touch and I can see what might work. I’d also be happy to consider boarding, although as I live in a flat, this would depend on the size, temperament and individual needs of your pet. I’m always happy to have a chat beforehand to make sure I can provide a comfortable and suitable environment for them. I live in a flat in the city centre, and although I don’t have a garden, I’m a very outdoorsy person and love getting out for walks. I’m often down by the river exploring the local area, usually with a coffee stop at one of the many lovely cafés along the way — so there’s no shortage of opportunities for walks and adventures! When house-sitting, I’m very happy to follow your usual routines and instructions closely. I know every pet is different, so I’ll take the time to understand their individual needs and make sure they feel comfortable, happy and well cared for while you’re away.
“Olivia was fab - arranged to come over to the house for a meet and greet to get to know our dog. All communication spot on. We had confidence that everything was going to be fine whilst we were away. Plus the dog seems knackered so they must have had a great time! Olivia was amazing. Olivia was kind enough to house/dog sit for us whilst we enjoyed a long weekend away. She was great in very way, form the start communication was excellent and she took the time to visit us before the booking. Very punctual, organised and caring towards our much loved pet who warmed to her immediately. We had no hesitation in leaving her to house pet sit for a 4-night weekend. Communication continued to be excellent with regular pictures of our whilst out walking. Returned home to one very happy pet, an immaculate house and complete gratitude to the care Olivia had taken.
Helen looked after our elderly whippet , Winston, yesterday. We were very impressed with the care and the professionalism she showed. When she visited to meet him, she arrived promptly and quickly ascertained what was needed to look after him successfully. She kept us very well informed during the day she looked after him and Winston was a happy whippet when we returned. Many thanks, Helen!
Giovanna stayed at our house for a week and looked after our dachshund Arlo. He had hurt his neck a few weeks ago so was on strict rest so wasn’t his usual self. Giovanna took great care of him and the house during her stay. She sent us pictures every day and we felt confident that Arlo was being loved and cared for. We would definitely use Giovanna again and are so grateful of her care for Arlo.
Yang is brilliant. It was my first time using Rover and leaving our two kittens but she made the whole process very easy and I would not hesitate to book her again. She sent lots of updates and photos and calmly managed all kinds of kitten chaos! Apart from two happy kittens, I would not have known Yang had been in the house as she left everything very tidy. Thank you Yang, I would definitely recommend you to others!
Joanne has been absolutely fantastic, she has looked after my babies so well. I have 3 dogs which can be a lot for some people but Joanna has been amazing. She sent me lots of pictures and videos which I love as I missed my dogs so much while I was away. She took great care of my house as well and I literally had 0 worries while I was away. Her communication was great and nothing was too much trouble. She really does care about animals so much and treats your pets like her own. She made my holiday completely stress free and I would happily book Joanne again and again to look after my dogs. Absolutely 5 stars 🌟

Octavia was great - she was very flexible with our relatively last minute booking and even made time for a meet and greet beforehand. Maple was very comfortable with her and was even queueing at the front door to leave with Octavia at the end of the day, so she must have had a nice time! Would happily book again.

Erin was on time, friendly and pays attention to detail. She love Jax and Jax loves her. She proved to be trustworthy and did what she was asked to do. She updated me with photos and told us how she was getting on with him. Cannot fault her and certainly will use her services again.

Lucy was great! We needed a last minute house sitter to look after Maple who had just come into season. Lucy was really flexible and managed to fit in a meet and greet beforehand, and Maple took to her so quickly. We felt very comfortable leaving Maple with her and would happily book with Lucy again!

Could not be happier with the care that Lyla and Charlotte provided for our two dogs whilst we were away. It was so nice knowing the dogs were being cared for so well in their own home, and knowing our home was in such capable hands. We had lots of messages and updates throughout our holiday so we knew they were happy and meant we didn’t miss our dogs too much! I cannot recommend Lyla enough, I’m almost scared to sing her praises too much in case lots of people start booking and there’s no availability for me!!

Eleanor is a lovely dog sitter - answers enquiries quickly , is always punctual and very friendly . She has looked after Millie a few times now including this Fri evening and also this Sat . She is always very good with Millie and Millie really enjoys her company -we get loads of pictures of Millie looking relaxed and happy which is reassuring as Millie has separation anxiety . Thanks again for helping us out Eleanor

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred York walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in York choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
