“I can’t speak highly enough of Louise. My dog is my world and he requires medication on a regular basis. I immediately felt at ease with Louise and knew I could trust her with my boy. She has hit the perfect balance of warm and friendly with professionalism. Can’t wait to book another visit.”

“Jessie settled well with Jessica and the two of them seemed to have a great time. We came home to a very happy dog - she obviously hadn't missed us very much. Jessica was brilliant - the house was spotless. As if no-one had been here. We would definitely use Jessica and Rover again. Thank you”

About: Hi! I’m Daisy and I have had my own pet care business for several years, pausing it to go back to university. I have a lot of spare time alongside my studies so would like to fill it with doing what I love and miss from having my business. I have extensive experience of all kinds of breeds and temperaments and great references. I have a background in veterinary care and trained veterinary emergency care. Happy to accommodate all pet personalities and especially experienced with reactive dogs. I’m very flexible and free most days and times. Just give me a message to discuss availability. Happy to work adhoc or more of a regular service. I’m experienced with pets of varying temperaments, especially reactive dogs due to working a lot with rescues. I appreciate everyone’s pets have their own personalities so happy to work with them the way you feel is best.
About: I've cared for a variety of pets throughout my life, from dogs and cats to horses and livestock! My aim is for all pets to feel as loved as possible. I work part time from home, as well as helping on the family farm. I have lots of availability for dog walking and pet sitting. Currently only offering house sitting and dog walks while work is being done on my house. However, current clients will have priority for when pet sitting in my own home becomes available. I have a gentle but playful border collie who can join playful pups for walks, or single household walks are available too!
“We were so thrilled to welcome Ella into our home to look after our cockapoo Phoebe for a weekend. She took Phoebe for walks and snuggled on the sofa and in bed - just what Phoebe loves! We came home to an immaculate house and wouldn't hesitate to book Ella again.”

About: Fully Insured Pet Sitter & Cleaner with a Clean Enhanced DBS Hi, my name is Stacy. I'm 40 years old and a proud mum to two amazing sons, Mason (21) and Zach (18). My son Mason lives in York and I'm looking to do a paid petsit whilst also spending some time with him/his partner. Over the past 12 months, I've been caring for pets and homes across the UK and overseas. What started as a way to experience new places soon became something I genuinely fell in love with. There's nothing more rewarding than giving pet owners peace of mind while ensuring their beloved animals are happy, safe, and well cared for in their own environment. As a result, I recently launched my business, Homes & Pets, offering reliable pet sitting services alongside Home Reset support for people who may be feeling overwhelmed by household tasks, life changes, busy schedules, or simply need an extra pair of hands to get their home back on track. I am fully insured, hold a clean Enhanced DBS certificate, and take great pride in being trustworthy, caring, and respectful of both people's homes and their pets. Whether you're heading away on holiday, need someone to care for your pets, or would like support creating a calmer, more organised living space, I'd love to help. I am a 40 year old Mum to Mason (21) and Zach (18). I am looking for a cat sit in York as a way to see my son Mason and his lovely partner, Saffire. I'm a fully insured petsitter with an enhanced DBS. My son Mason lives in York for Uni. I was recently made redundant and so visiting him has proven difficult. I am looking for low maintenance cat sits so that I can explore, and if possible, where my son and his partner can come for dinner in the evenings. I have been petsitting around the UK and overseas for the last 18 months as a way to travel. I am happy to share my DBS check and my insurance details for your reassurance. I will take care of your home as if it was my own and give updates as regularly as you wish. My only request is that there are no cameras inside the home as I personally find this intrusive. of course, outdoor cameras are no problem. I am reliable, responsible and an excellent communicator.
“Thanks to Nick for doing a super job looking after our dog and cats. Had to ask Nick at the last moment to change the timings and he was happy to accommodate. Really happy with everything and would definitely recommend.”

“Nicole has a lovely vibe and quickly bonded with my one year-old terrier. Nicole communicates brilliantly. Dora had a lovely time with her today and came back chilled and happy. I will definitely be asking Nicole for help again!”

“Julie was amazing, she was so good with Alfie taking him on long walks and sending us updates while we were away. Alfie takes a while to warm up to people but he was so comfortable around her. We definitely would recommend, she was great and such a lovely person 😊”

“Thankyou so much for looking after both our cat and dog at our house. Also thankyou for keeping us updated and sending us photos of what they were up to. We hope you enjoyed it and we recommend Carol 1000%!”

About: My husband and I have had pets our entire life, so caring for animals truly comes naturally to us. Although we sadly no longer have our own dog, our love for animals hasn’t changed – and we now have a warm, welcoming home ready to help other families by caring for their dogs and cats when they need it most. I work from home so no pets will be left on their own. Your pet will be part of our routine at all times unless otherwise specified by you as an owner. Our home is very much a home-from-home environment, where pets are treated as part of the family. We have a gentle and animal-loving 2-year-old who absolutely adores pets and has grown up around them, so kindness and respect for animals is something we value deeply in our household. We also have plenty of pets within our wider family, so animals are always part of our lives.
About: As a devoted pet sitter, my motivation stems from a deep-rooted love for dogs and a genuine enjoyment in caring for animals. My journey into pet sitting began organically as I found myself frequently looking after friends' and family members' dogs, as well as other animals, while they were away on holidays. This experience has not only enriched my life with countless wagging tails and warm nuzzles but has also instilled in me a sense of responsibility and understanding of the trust pet owners place in a sitter. I take pride in providing a service that goes beyond mere supervision. To me, pet sitting is about creating a bond with each animal, ensuring they feel loved, secure, and engaged in the absence of their owners. Whether it's maintaining their daily routines, providing stimulating playtime, or just being a comforting presence, my goal is to ensure that every pet is happy and healthy under my care. My services are tailored to each pet's individual needs, and I am committed to upholding the highest standards of care. With my experience and passion for pet sitting, I am confident in my ability to provide a safe, nurturing, and fun environment for your furry friends. I am presently engaged in a part-time job that allows me the flexibility to work remotely, which means that my schedule is quite adaptable. Consequently, I will have an abundance of time available to devote to the care and attention of your pets, ensuring they receive the best possible care during your absence. I live in a quiet area away from busy roads, surrounded by nature. Our back garden has a fence all around, so it's safe for animals. We've turned a small room in the garden into a cozy space for dogs, with plenty of spots for them to sleep.
About: Hello! Dogs have been a huge part of my life for 6 years, ever since I have owned my boy, Buster. Whether your dog loves long, energetic walks or just wants to snuggle on the couch, I can tailor my care to their exact needs. I am reliable, communicative, and ready to give your dog a safe, fun stay or walk. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, running, and I work as a dental therapist and am also studying alongside at university to become a dentist! I am currently studying dentistry at university and have differing timetables most weeks, so I am available on my days off from uni as well as during holidays inbetween term time to look after or walk your pets! I will be available most hours to ensure they need everything they require. I love all animas as if they are my own. I have a courtyard while at university and while at my home I have a big garden for your pets to enjoy. I will be able to feed them whenever and they will always have fresh water available. Let me know anything your pet will require and I will do my best to ensure they get just that!

“Andrew was great, he looked after our dogs in our home for a week. The dogs really took to him quickly and enjoyed having him around. One of dogs took poorly and needed veterinary attention quickly. Andrew ensured this happened and kept us up to date with his progress in the days that followed which was really reassuring. We would definitely recommend Andrew to anyone wanting their dogs cared for in their own home.”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Ryedale walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ryedale choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
