“Claire is very friendly and is obviously used to looking after dogs, having sadly lost her own last year. Our elderly cockapoo had a wonderful time enjoying two walks and a sit on Claire’s sofa! Highly recommend and intend to book again; thank you Claire!”

“Laura was amazing with Barney, it was his first full day away from us and we couldn’t have asked for anything more. I’d feel so at ease going out for a day if he was left in the good hands of Laura!! Absolutely loved the update photos too! Thanks so much Laura”

About: I have been a petsiitter, walker, companion for many years. I love all fur babies, recently looked after chickens too. I have a car, can work in York and surrounding areas. Will consider further afield but a minimum of one continous week. Always recommend a meetup before a booking for a cuppa and maybe a biscuit 😉 Recently retired. As i am an animal lover and experienced pet sitter for cats, dogs, chickens i can't think of a better way to spend my time. I cannot look after pets in my own home sadly. I can only offer pet sitting, Vet visits, Pop-ins for all fur babies, chickens, feeding, comforting, walking. Sadly I cannot look after reactive dogs because of past experience.
“Duke my german shepherd had a fantastic time with Tammy and thank you so much for taking care of my boy. He was so worn out and loved i wouldn't hesitate to rebook Tammy when I visit Birmingham again”

“Karrie had our girl for the day whilst we took the kids to Flamingo Land and was great with her. Karrie's dog is lovely and so mellow, ours soon settled with her and had a lovely day.”

“Benson's first time at a dog-sitter so I was anxious about leaving him, he's a big boisterous dog who can be nervous - I didn't need to be, he had a wonderful time, was looked after perfectly, very experienced and lovely sitters, highly recommend.”

“We were so pleased to have found Wayne on Rover, especially as we needed to make last-minute arrangements due to a change in plans. From the moment they met, Ronnie took to Wayne straight away, which immediately put our minds at ease. Wayne kept us updated throughout Ronnie's stay, and it was clear he was being well looked after. When we picked Ronnie up, he was relaxed, happy, and completely himself, which is always the best sign that he's been comfortable and cared for. Thank you, Wayne, for looking after Ronnie so well. We wouldn't hesitate to use your services again and will definitely be back if we need help in the future.”

“Julie was absolutely wonderful looking after Harley. I was sent pictures throughout the day and couldn’t have chosen anyone better :) I felt very comfortable leaving Harley with her at her beautiful home. Would definitely recommend.”

“Would definitely recommend Christianne, she looks after Ted who struggles with separation anxiety once a week. Updates throughout the day and takes great care of him and his needs.”

“We were over the moon with Cariana and the way she looked after Ziggy for the day! She kept us updated with plenty of pictures and I just knew Ziggy was being very well looked after. She was a very happy pup and we really appreciated the care Cariana provided. Would highly recommend! Thank you Cariana!”

“Hendrix came back happy and healthy.. puppies are super energetic and I felt bad Hendrix just wanted to play all the time he was there and didn’t rest (as he slept in the car on the way) Very appreciated Octavia-Louise, thanks for looking after him!”

“Vanessa and her family were lovely with Maya and she has come back happy, and ready for bed! Vanessa sent lovely photos of Maya and her home felt a safe welcoming place to leave my lovely dog. Will definitely take Maya back there. Thanks!”

About: I have my own professional dog training business and have worked professionally with dogs for around a year. I have my own dog, who I have had from a pup. I have worked with service dogs in training at Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. I have worked with multiple other dog walkers and trainers. I am fully insured privately and have an enhanced DBS check. I have experience with a lot of different dogs, including old dog, puppies, reactive dogs, aggressive dogs, and nervous dogs. I have recently finished university and gone full time self-employed as a dog trainer. I am very flexible to work around your schedule as needed. I have my own pup and a large enclosed back garden. I don't currently offer overnight stays, but do offer day-trains, meaning you dog would stay with me for the day.

About: I’ve loved and cared for dogs for most of my life. Growing up, my family had a female Pomeranian who was with us for over 10 years, followed by a female Husky. Caring for them gave me experience with dogs of different breeds, sizes and personalities. Now I live with my partner and our spayed female Cockapoo, Loopy. Looking after her has taught me the importance of understanding each dog’s individual needs, routine and personality. I’ve also looked after friends’ dogs, including a large Old English Sheepdog, whom I bathed and cared for, as well as several Cockapoos. One of my friend’s Cockapoos even stayed overnight in our home for a week, so I’m experienced in helping dogs settle into a new environment and feel comfortable. I genuinely love spending time with dogs. I enjoy taking them for walks, visiting parks and going on countryside walks together. I always pay close attention to their behaviour, comfort and wellbeing, and I’ll care for your dog with the same love and attention that I give my own. As a freelancer, I have a flexible schedule that allows me to give dogs plenty of time, attention and companionship throughout the day. Caring for dogs is already a big part of my daily life, as I share my home with my partner and our lovely Cockapoo, Loopy. As a Cockapoo owner myself, I understand the energy, affection and attention this breed needs, and I’m always happy to adapt to each dog’s own routine and personality. Whether your dog enjoys long walks, playtime or simply relaxing with people, I’ll make sure they feel safe, loved and at home. Your dog’s safety, comfort and happiness will always come first. I have a friendly, spayed female Cockapoo who enjoys the company of other dogs. I introduce dogs gradually and never leave them together unsupervised until I’m confident they’re comfortable with each other. I’ll carefully follow your dog’s usual routine, including feeding, walks, medication (if needed) and any special instructions. Every dog is different, so I take the time to understand their personality and make sure they feel relaxed and secure. My goal is for your dog to enjoy their stay just as much as you enjoy your time away.
“Eva took care of my dog Wanda for an afternoon. Everything went great and Wanda had a great time with Eva. I would definitely leave my Wanda with her again, she spent a great afternoon with lots of treats and cuddles.”

“Lesley was wonderful, thankyou so much for looking after Buster. We needed day care to attend a funeral in York at last minute. Buster was settled as soon as he saw Lesley when I dropped him off and a very happy chappy when I picked him up. He would clearly have stayed with her without hesitation. Great to get a fully detaiked report on his day too. Wouldn't hesitate to book Lesley again.”

Dougal had a brilliant time with Claire, she kept us up to date with pictures and videos. Pre booking communication was excellent and we would thoroughly recommend her to other dog owners. Dougal will be very happy to return, he loved your garden. Thank you Catherine

Claire allowed us a pre booking meet up beforehand and we were all instantly at ease with her ,she was very friendly and attentive to Max .Her garden is completely enclosed and safe for pooches to sniff around .We felt totally happy to leave Max there and Claire gave him his walkies and lots of cuddles and pampering. She was great at sending " pupdates🐕" and pics of what he was up to throughout his stay.100% recommend Claire and will definitely book her again if we are in that area in the future. Excellent, thank you Claire 😃🫶x

What a woman?! From the off, Claires correspondance and communication was brilliant! We had a weird circumstance that we couldn't meet beforehand to introduce her, as we were travelling from outside the area, for just a short amount of time. This didn't put her off though, and despite me never having used Rover before, she seemed the perfect fit for my slightly nervous wee boy! On rocking up, she made him feel welcome immediately. She gave the fuss pot a wee chew, then took him down to her fully enclosed courtyard garden and let himself sniff about whilst tossing a squeak ball for him. She sent me photos throughout the day. (Though our signal was poor, we had them through all at once which was lovely!) On pick up he was happy to see us, but also not in any rush to leave! Thank you Claire for looking after my boy with such care. If we are ever in the area again and needed help, I would not hesitate to reach out!

Your dog’s first day care experience is a big milestone! To help your pup settle in comfortably, we recommend:
- Food and treats portioned for the day, with feeding instructions
- Your dog's lead and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)
- Any seasonal gear, such as paw-safe wax for winter or a cooling vest for the summer
- Medication, if applicable, with clear dosage notes
- Any special care instructions or training tips to help your sitter provide the most personalised care possible
Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Yorkshire and the Humber may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
