We needed someone to look after our pet dog Lucky for a weekend and found Jaye and her husband on Rover. They were an excellent find and took really good care of him. They welcomed him into their home, nothing too much trouble, plenty of walks and sent us photo updates. He had a great mini holiday and settled right in. Will definitely ask them to look after Lucky again in the future.

Another amazing holiday at Sally’s for my dog Dany! For anyone looking for a trusted dog sitter, Sally is absolutely the best - an absolute gem! She shows genuine love for my dog and goes above and beyond with regular photo updates and sweet stories about their time together. The constant communication and updates give me such peace of mind. Her attentive care and obvious affection for pets makes her invaluable - I honestly don't know what I'd do without Sally! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a sitter who will treat your dog like family.

Leanne was absolutely amazing. She went above and beyond for Penny and me and was super patient with us both as we figured out if Penny could co-exist with Nala. They ended up getting along great, which I think is mostly thanks to Leanne’s expertise and experience with nervous dogs and fosters. Leanne provided detailed daily updates along with lots of photos and videos which was so appreciated. I would (and do!) Leanne to anyone and everyone!

Our second time using Ray and Jo, and they are fantastic with our dog, he loves going and they definitely put my mind at ease that he’s being well looked after. He can sometimes be a bit excitable but they don’t make me feel like he’s a bother which is amazing. Would definitely recommend and use again! Thank you again!!

Karrie and Kevin were absolutely incredible with our 2. Being a Belgian Shepherd, Ava isn’t quick to warm with new people, and yet she was soon easing herself gently into her loving temporary home alongside her Golden Retriever sister Pink and her adopted sister, German Shepherd Willow, owned by Karrie and Kevin. I would not hesitate to book again.

Molly is an old lady with a few problems. Natalie was a perfect fit for her from first meeting to collection after her visit. When she was dropped off she immediately abandoned us and made herself at home in Natalie's house. We would highly recommend her as a sitter, particularly as she only takes one dog at a time. Molly we think enjoyed the company of Natalie's own dog too.

Beatriz looked after our dog for 3 days and we couldn’t have felt more comfortable or happier leaving him with her. She was excellent at communicating and met all of our dogs needs. She sent us lots of updates and photos, which was reassuring as this was the first time we had ever left him with a dog sitter. We couldn’t have asked for any better, would definitely recommend Beatriz to look after your pets and would not hesitate to have her look after our dog again!

Thanks so much for taking great care of Monty. Getting regular updates and photos from Lesley while we were away reassured us, the children in particular, that he was in good hands. The words “Will look after your dog as if they were my own” are so true. He looked and felt totally at home when I came to pick him up. Thanks again

Emma did a fantastic job of taking care of Ruby. We were able to pop round for a meet and greet before hand so that Ruby had a chance to meet Emma and have a good sniff around where she would be staying, which really helped her settle in quicker. Ruby can be quite fussy, and it was fantastic to see how Emma took care of all of her (sometimes quirky) needs. She also provided lots of lovely photos and videos of Ruby during her stay. My wife and I would not hesitate to recommend Emma as a dog sitter, she’s kind and a true animal lover!

FAQs for Boarding - Ryedale

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Dog Boarding in Ryedale on Rover is £33.35 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Dog Boarding easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Dog Boarding. For more information on service fees, click here .

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in Yorkshire and the Humber may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
