“I can't rate Sally highly enough. Use her once and you won't want to entrust your dog with anyone else. She is so patient with my reactive collie and walks her multiple times a day. She also keeps me up to date with pictures and videos so I can see how happy my girl is.”

“We booked on Rover as our usual sitter was away, I was apprehensive as they hadn’t been left with people we didn’t know. Leanne and Daniel are BIG dog lovers, after booking we did a meet and great, Mabel and Baxter were relaxed and happy as soon as they arrived at their house which left us feeling so much better about leaving them. We were away for 10 days and got daily updates, photos and videos of their holiday adventures. We would recommend Leanne and Daniel to anyone who needs a dog sitter, they were very well looked after and happy.”

“Raymond and Jo looked after my frenchie Suki for just over two weeks. From the beginning their communication was prompt. I was anxious about leaving Suki but Ray and Jo completely put my mind at rest. They have heaps of experience and obviously cherish dogs. I received regular updates and photos and didn't worry at all. Ray and Jo are such a special couple and Suki was really well looked after with that extra love. I would highly recommend them.”

“Wholeheartedly recommend Karrie to look after your dog. She went the extra mile making sure our dog felt safe and secure throughout his stay. She catered to all his needs in every way. Needless to say we picked up a very happy boy. Will definitely be using Karrie in the future.”

“Our 9-month-old whippet/staffy mix had a great time with Kelly! Her three other dogs kept him entertained, and Kelly sent us daily updates and cute photos from the dog park. He came home happy, healthy and tired! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Kelly to anyone else who is looking for a really capable sitter.”

“Chrissy has been amazing looking after our doggo for 6 nights. She kept us updated daily with photos and we returned to a relaxed and very at home pup when we went to pick her up. Would use again and can highly recommend.”

“Emma looked after our rescue dog overnight at short notice - a lifesaver! . She kept in touch throughout the stay, sending regular updates and photos which really helped alleviate my anxiety. Would definitely recommend Emma to others. Many thanks”

“Jordan was fantastic, I only booked the evening before and she was so accommodating and easygoing, especially as it was short notice. Doris has a wonderful time, I received regular updates which was great. I’d happily send Doris back anytime. 🩷”

“Leah and Ben were brilliant. They communicated well throughout and were attentive and caring to Rocky, even though it takes him a while to settle in new places. They were really helpful and understanding and could even give rocky his oral medication without concern. Their dog Louis was also lovely and very gentle and sweet. Rocky loved playing with him. We felt at ease leaving Rocky with Leah, Ben and Louis for the first time and knew he was in excellent hands. Thank you so much! We’ll definitely be re booking.”

“Eva has looked after Suki two weeks in a row, for overnight stays. Suki was so excited seeing Eva for the second time which to me, indicates she had a good time. Eva shared pictures through the stay!”

“I am so happy leaving Winston with Lesley and her husband Phil. They always look after him so well, and he is always happy to see them. They always keep me up to date with how he is with photos and messages. I couldn't wish for anyone better to look after him.”

“Our dog Fudge had a great time with Vanessa and her family. He has come back from kennels in the past shivering and nervous, even if just for a couple of days. He was with Vanessa for nearly a week and could not have been happier. It's clear that the family adore the dogs the look after. She sent regular "pupdates" and we were delighted to see how much he seemed to be enjoying himself, whether playing, going on long walks, or just snuggling in. Will certainly book in with Vanessa again in future”

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Yorkshire and the Humber may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
