This was my first time using Rover. My Jack Russell has a great time with Jaye and her partner. I was provided daily photo updates and they looked after him well.

Sally has been a great help to us as a pet sitter and we trust her 100%. Recently, we had a family emergency and asked her last minute if she could take care of our dog, Dany for two nights. She was quick to respond and stepped in to help as she always does. We know Dany is in good hands with her, and we really appreciate her reliability. I would recommend Sally highly.

Karrie and Kevin were absolutely incredible with our 2. Being a Belgian Shepherd, Ava isn’t quick to warm with new people, and yet she was soon easing herself gently into her loving temporary home alongside her Golden Retriever sister Pink and her adopted sister, German Shepherd Willow, owned by Karrie and Kevin. I would not hesitate to book again.

We’ve just recently collected Coco from her stay with this lovely couple. It was obvious that she was loved and well cared for and we’d definitely use their services again if we need to go away. We’d highly recommend them.

Kelly is simply great! Clear comms and a pre booking meet up to make sure everyone including the dogs are happy. Left the 2 girls with Kelly knowing they were in good hands with an experienced person. Dogs probably had a better holiday than I did. We’ll certainly be back.

Chrissy has been amazing looking after our doggo for 6 nights. She kept us updated daily with photos and we returned to a relaxed and very at home pup when we went to pick her up. Would use again and can highly recommend.

Molly is an old lady with a few problems. Natalie was a perfect fit for her from first meeting to collection after her visit. When she was dropped off she immediately abandoned us and made herself at home in Natalie's house. We would highly recommend her as a sitter, particularly as she only takes one dog at a time. Molly we think enjoyed the company of Natalie's own dog too.

Vanessa, Chris and their lovely boys made Salt so welcome into their home over the bank holiday weekend. Salt clearly just settled in naturally to their caring environment as if it was a home away from home. Vanessa kept me regularly updated with photos and texts on how he was doing. I was totally reassured and therefore our family could unwind away on our trip away safe in the knowledge that Salt was in the best hands. Would wholeheartedly recommend the family as host to other pet owners. Thank you 🙏

Absolutely brilliant and will use again. My dog was just treated like one of the family which is all you can ask for. She had the best holiday, which meant we had a the best time knowing she was being looked after and having a great time. The whole process was easy and relaxed, I couldn’t recommend more.

FAQs for Dog Boarding - Ryedale

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Dog Boarding in Ryedale on Rover is £33.35 per night (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Dog Boarding easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Dog Boarding. For more information on service fees, click here .

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in Yorkshire and the Humber may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
