“Frances and her husband made sure Tilley was well looked after. We were both made to feel welcome in their home and I know Tilley had a great time, with the updates Frances provided. I have no hesitation in recommending Frances and look forward to Tilley staying with them again soon.”

“Dodger had a lovely stay with Jackie! Jackie was caring, very attentive and her own dog Oreo was the perfect host. Lovely lady! Dodger was a very happy pooch so would definitely book again!”

“Wendy and her husband made me feel at ease leaving my dog with someone other than family for the first time. You could see they had built a relationship up really quickly! I received photos and updates the whole time he was there. I will definitely use Wendy again. Thank you so much.”

“Our 9-month-old whippet/staffy mix had a great time with Kelly! Her three other dogs kept him entertained, and Kelly sent us daily updates and cute photos from the dog park. He came home happy, healthy and tired! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Kelly to anyone else who is looking for a really capable sitter.”

“This was our first time using Rover and Odie’s first time away from family members we thought kennels wouldn’t be the right solution for Odie as he needs a quiet space being an older dog and after hours of scrolling for the right person we came across Michael. Reading his profile gave us reassurance and confidence that he would be the right person to look after our boy with his home offering a home from home environment, quiet space, meeting routines, patience and understanding of his personality he ticked all the boxes! Michael was quick to respond with any queries before we went ahead with booking. We received lovely pictures and videos of Odie out on walks and snuggled up at his home and he looked very happy and content throughout the whole Holiday. We had no worries or concerns at any point. We wouldn’t hesitate to book again in the future with Michael as he was very kind, approachable and genuinely very caring. Thanks again Michael for looking after our Odie boy and it was an absolute pleasure meeting you. Enjoy your thank you gift🍾 Craig, Kerri, Kids and Odie”

“Leanne was absolutely amazing. She went above and beyond for Penny and me and was super patient with us both as we figured out if Penny could co-exist with Nala. They ended up getting along great, which I think is mostly thanks to Leanne’s expertise and experience with nervous dogs and fosters. Leanne provided detailed daily updates along with lots of photos and videos which was so appreciated. I would (and do!) Leanne to anyone and everyone!”

“Daisy has just returned from Raymonds after 10 nights with him. Through out her stay we were kept fully informed and received photos of her enjoying herself, and certainly looking like she had made herself at home. When we first arrived for her stay Daisy was more than excited to see Ray which we took as an encouraging sign and she was still at home there when we picked her up. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Raymond, this is Daisys second stay and hopefully not her last.”

“Ana looked after our lively Labrador as if she were her own, thoughtful in planning and kept us up informed how she was to calm an anxious dog owner ! She had a great time and forgot who we are, she has a new family 🤣 already booked again thank you so much”

“Dobby had the BEST time again with Kathryn! He came back so happy. He gets lovely walks and all the cuddles. He thinks Kathryn’s dog Alba is his best friend… she’s probably glad to see the back of him and get some peace but Dobby has the best time keeping them busy with his craziness! Thanks again Dobby will see you soon xx”

About: I have been around pets all my life! I am a registered complex needs carer who currently works in the care sector, but I would like to care for animals fulltime as I do enjoy walking especially with dogs! I have a caring nature and I like to be physically active in all weathers! I have owned dogs, cats throughout my life. My current work allows me to select my own working schedule and therefore im in charge of my own time management. I would like to pet sit fulltime. Although I live on a busy road im fortunate to have a good sized garden which is completely walled. My home is secure and a good size. I live alone and I'm a non smoker and enjoy the company of animals. I have experience with reactive dogs and understand the needs of anxious dogs. I have experience of caring for adults in their own home and im cleaning and tidy and respectful of people's own homes. I have looked after friends dogs while they go on holiday. I'm happy to adapt walks to suit the needs of the pet - long hikes, medium walks or quick walkies! I can drive in my estate car to secure locations, hire a dog field or just walk locally. I live in a lovely town and have access to beautiful countryside on my doorstep. I understand owners can have particular routines for their pets and im more than happy to keep to routines.
“Pete and Emma were lovely and treat Teddy like their own. We had a few get to know walks and practice stays. Whilst we were away we received regular updates from them and he looked very settled and happy. He had plenty of walks and activities. It put our minds at ease knowing Teddy was enjoying his time away from us and would definitely use them again to look after Teddy. Thank you so much Pete and Emma.”

“Minnie had a wonderful time with Kay. We felt at ease instantly, as Kay was so thorough when asking about Minnie’s needs and showed her lots of love from the get go. She has an amazing garden which Minnie wasted no time in enjoying! Kay sent lots of updates with photos and videos to put our mind at ease too which was fab. We would recommend to anyone who would like a kind, loving home away from home for their pup, we will certainly be using Kay again.”

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
