“Pete and Emma were lovely and treat Teddy like their own. We had a few get to know walks and practice stays. Whilst we were away we received regular updates from them and he looked very settled and happy. He had plenty of walks and activities. It put our minds at ease knowing Teddy was enjoying his time away from us and would definitely use them again to look after Teddy. Thank you so much Pete and Emma.”

About: I provide extra attention and care to pets. Because of how meticulous I am, I easily and quickly notice changes in their personalities or moods which is very necessary in picking up signs of health issues or any distress. I believe it is very important to treat animals with love and provide them with all the care possible. I have catered for different kinds of pets so I am very aware that different pets require personal attention and care specific to them because temperaments and behavioural patterns are different. That helped me understand better how to train pets based on their individual/personal circumstances. Every pet is a new joyful experience for me. It warms my heart to care for them which makes me feel like they do more for me. I love them.

About: Hi, I’m Dave. I’ve had dogs all my life and have experience caring for both large and small breeds with different personalities and energy levels. At home we currently have Scout, our friendly 10-month-old German Shepherd and Golden Retriever cross, so your dog would have a sociable companion during their stay. We also have an older cat who sleeps upstairs out of the way. Our home is family-friendly, so any dog staying with us would need to be comfortable around secondary school-aged children. I understand how important it is for dogs to feel safe, relaxed, and part of the family while their owners are away. Your dog will receive plenty of attention, companionship, exercise, and a caring home environment during their stay. There is always someone home for company.I work full time night shift so will be in with your pet through the day whilst my wife works day shift so is in through the night plus our 2 sons who are always about. We have a fully fenced and secure garden where the dogs can safely play and relax. Scout loves digging up the garden, so part of it is sectioned off — if your dog is a digger too, don’t worry, ours is as well lol. Scout gets three walks a day along with plenty of playtime and attention from the family in between, and your pet would be treated as part of the family too.
“Dodger had a lovely stay with Jackie! Jackie was caring, very attentive and her own dog Oreo was the perfect host. Lovely lady! Dodger was a very happy pooch so would definitely book again!”

About: We’re a caring and reliable couple who absolutely love dogs. While we don’t have may years pet-sitting experience, we’ve spent the last five years looking after our own cockapoo, friends and family's so we’re very familiar with daily walks, feeding routines, playtime, and plenty of cuddles. I work as a paramedic, and between the two of us, one will always be at home during the day and night. This means your dog will never be left alone for long and will always have company, supervision, and attention. We understand how important it is to trust someone with your pet, and we’ll treat your dog as if they were our own—making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and happy while in our care. Pet care is already a big part of our daily routine as we have our own 5-year-old cockapoo. Our day is structured around walks, feeding times, play, and relaxing at home together. Due to my work as a paramedic and my partner’s schedule, one of us will always be home during the day and overnight. This means we can provide consistent supervision, regular toilet breaks, walks, and plenty of attention throughout the day. We’re used to planning our routine around a dog’s needs, so any dog staying with us will fit in comfortably and be treated like part of the family We have a big, fully fenced garden where dogs can safely play and explore. They’re welcome anywhere in the house and will be treated like part of the family, just like our own dog. We’re really close to parks and open fields, so there are plenty of good walking spots nearby. We also enjoy the occasional trip to the seaside for a change of scenery, if your dog enjoys that. We’ll stick to your dog’s usual routine as much as possible and make sure they feel comfortable, safe, and well looked after while they’re with us!
“Emily was an absolute pleasure to communicate with, coming up see Betty prior to her stay. Betty had a great time socialising with other dogs, and came back in a happy mood. Will 100% be booking again with Emily if I go on holiday ☺️”

About: I’ve grown up with both dogs and cats and have over 20 years of experience caring for my own cats. Alongside this, I have around 10 years of hands-on experience looking after dogs for extended periods, often for weeks at a time. I’m very comfortable with animals of all personalities and needs, and I genuinely enjoy providing them with a safe, happy, and loving environment while they’re in my care. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine as I’m not currently working, which means I have plenty of time and flexibility to give pets the attention they deserve. I’m home most of the day, so I can maintain consistent feeding schedules, provide regular playtime, and ensure pets feel comfortable and settled. I’m able to adapt my routine around each pet’s needs, whether that’s multiple walks for dogs, quiet companionship for cats, or sticking closely to specific care instructions. Because of my availability, I can offer a calm, attentive environment and won’t need to rush or leave pets alone for long periods. I provide attentive, reliable care whether pets are in my home or in their owner’s home. In my home, I create a calm, safe, and welcoming environment where pets can settle in comfortably, sticking closely to their usual routines for feeding, play, and rest. I make sure they get plenty of attention, stimulation, and affection so they feel relaxed and at home. When caring for pets in their owner’s home, I respect their space and follow all instructions carefully to maintain the pet’s normal routine. I ensure feeding schedules, walks, litter or garden care, and any specific needs are met consistently. I also keep owners updated for peace of mind, so they know their pets are happy and well looked after while they’re away.

I have a fenced back garden. My house has 4 bedrooms with a large kitchen and a large living room so dogs have plenty of space.

Wendy and her husband made me feel at ease leaving my dog with someone other than family for the first time. You could see they had built a relationship up really quickly! I received photos and updates the whole time he was there. I will definitely use Wendy again. Thank you so much.

I can’t praise Ana enough, She looked after my dog like it was her own,During the week of our dogs stay Ana kept us informed by way of videos showing them enjoying walks ,and playing together,it made our holiday more enjoyable knowing that our dog was being so well cared for,Thanks again Ana ,we will definitely be using this service again,

We were very happy with the level of discussion before the stay but even happier with the care given while we were away ! Max & Sam go everywhere with us but a family wedding meant that they had to stay behind and it’s a massive bonus for all if they are looked after well . They were with Jordan and even fireworks couldn’t spoil their stay . We were also kept up to date with messages and appreciated the updates - thank you Jordan .

Helaina looked after our 5 month old puppy while we were away for a week on holiday. She was attentive and adaptable to her needs. We were kept up to date with how things were going and sent pictures and videos, which clearly showed our puppy having a good time, including socialising with other dogs. Helaina really knows her stuff when it comes to caring for dogs and is aware of how to tailor the care she provides to the needs of the individual dog, including with enrichment activities. She is a great communicator and responded promptly to my messages. I would not hesitate to recommend her and cannot thank her enough for taking such good care of our puppy.

Sitters in North East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
