“Liam and Hannah had our little westie Daisy for 2 weeks why we all went on a big family holiday and all I can say is Daisy is very depressed being at home she much prefers being with Liam, Hannah and Beau! We can not thank you enough for having her and will definitely be coming back next year if I could give more than 5 stars then I would 100%! Of course the star of the show Beau! What an amazing boy he is Daisy is most definitely missing him he's such a kind beautiful natured boy I would also highly recommend his dog buddy services!”

We would recommend Georgia to anyone who is looking for sitting or boarding, and would not hesitate to book Percy in again.”

About: I’ve grown up around animals and have always had a strong love for pets. I’ve had a cat since I was young and have helped with caring for my family dog for the past six years, so I’m very familiar with daily routines like feeding, walking, and giving lots of attention. I’ve also helped look after pets for family members, which has given me experience with different types of animals and personalities. I’m reliable, gentle, and always make sure pets feel comfortable, safe, and happy while in my care. I am currently a student at Durham university so have all summer to play and care for your animals:) I have lots of experience with walking and playing outside. Beaches and big fields are my favourite I am flexible and can take pets to my house with a lovely field near by for them to play in. Or I can come to you and help that way:)
“Julie was amazing! Biggles had his own holiday, he was walked every day and we had plenty of updates and pictures of him looking very happy. Biggles seemed to settle pretty quickly and was given a lot of love whilst we were away. Thank you so much for all of the care and love you’ve given Biggles this week!”

“Samantha was great with Nugget. From the first meeting I could tell he would be OK with her. When I went to pick him up, it looked like he didn't want to leave. Samantha is the best if you need a weekend away. Will definitely be asking her again, if we need another weekend away”

About: I've had dogs my whole life and currently have two friendly, well-socialised dogs of my own. I regularly help care for my neighbours' dogs while they're at work, providing walks, companionship, feeding and plenty of attention. I genuinely love spending time with dogs and understand how important it is to know your pet is safe, happy and well cared for. I currently only work on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so I'm available most other days for dog walks, drop-in visits and boarding. For boarding, dogs would need to be comfortable around children, as I have two dog-savvy children who have grown up around dogs and know how to interact with them respectfully. My own dogs are very friendly and enjoy the company of other dogs, helping visiting pets feel welcome and at home. I will care for your dog as if they were one of my own, making sure they receive lots of love, attention, exercise and cuddles while you're away. I also only work term time so I’m at home full time during the school holidays ☺️ Pet care fits naturally into my weekly routine as I already care for my own two dogs every day. I am fully available on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays for walks, drop-in visits and boarding. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays I work from 8:30am until 3:30pm, but I'm available after work. I also only work term time so there are periods where I am home full time, my husband also works from home on a Tuesday and is in the local area on wednesdays usually so our dogs are never left alone much at all which will be the same for your pet 🙂. Weekends are usually spent with my family enjoying local parks, beaches and countryside walks, and any dogs staying with us are welcome to join our adventures. If we're visiting somewhere that isn't dog-friendly, we're usually only out for a few hours at a time. Your dog's safety, comfort and happiness are my top priorities. We have a large, secure garden with high fencing, giving dogs plenty of space to play and explore safely. I live in a lovely area of County Durham with access to lots of beautiful walking routes, parks and open spaces. I have two friendly, well-socialised dogs who enjoy the company of other dogs, helping visiting pets feel relaxed and at home. I also have two dog-savvy children who have grown up around dogs and understand how to interact with them respectfully. I will follow your dog's usual routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, exercise needs and any special requirements, so they feel comfortable and settled while in my care.

My 2 girls have just spent the week with Eva and to be honest I don’t think they wanted to come home! They had a great time, long walks in the fields and lots of cuddles and care when at home. Daily updates and photos were a comfort and confirmed they were being exceptionally cared for. I have already rebooked with Eva for a future holiday!!

I would highly recommend Emily she was amazing with our fur baby Marler, gave him lots of love, attention and super walks 2 sometimes 3 times a day. Marler and I had a lovely pre-meeting and walk with Emily and her dog Archie and from the moment I met Emily I felt Marler woukd be happy and safe with her. Whilst we were away we got daily updates and pictures and just knowing our boy was having a wonderful time allowed us to relax and enjoy our weekend away. We cannot thank Emily enough for taking care of Marler x

Enzo had a great time staying with Ben and Kayleigh and of course Ruby. They were fantastic with communication and understanding when times switched up late in the day. An update and picture of Enzo and Ruby making friends put our minds at ease to know that Enzo was settling well for his first weekend away. I think it’s safe to say Enzo would love a return visit :)

Cariana is such a lovely gentle person I felt so confident leaving Bramble with her. She was so kind and appreciative of the fact that I was anxious about leaving my dog after a really bad experience with another sitter some years ago. Bramble had a lovely stay and was very well cared for and had tons of fuss and attention. I had regular pup - dates and lots of photos which put me at ease. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Cariana.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
