Georgia looked after our cockapoo puppy, Milo, for two days and we couldn't have asked for anyone better! It was the first time we'd ever left him, and she couldn't have made us feel more at ease. She kept us updated throughout with pictures, which was so reassuring, and it was clear Milo had the best time with Otis and Barney – it was like a little holiday for him! Georgia is so kind and caring, and we'll definitely be booking with her again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend her!

Liam and Hannah were amazing. I felt at ease dropping off my extremely young puppy for the very first time for a night away. Liam sent me photos and assured me that my baby was having a good time. If we are in their neck of the woods again and in need then I will definitely be in contact again. Thank you so much for taking care of my baby, 🐶

This was our first time using a dog sitter, and I was a little nervous, but Brianna was fantastic. She took great care of our dog Betsy, kept me updated with messages and photos, and made the whole experience stress-free. My dog was happy and well looked after. I would definitely recommend her and would happily book with her again. Thank you!

Lynn and her family looked after our golden Bonnie amazingly whilst we were away for a few nights - Bonnie had a great time and was clearly very happy and comfortable during her stay - getting to go on exciting walks and making friends with the other lovely pups that Lynn was looking after during that period. Communication from Lynn was great and very reassuring for me (as someone who gets a bit nervous leaving Bonnie when we’re away!) Would definitely book a stay with Lynn again in the future and know Bonnie would be very happy to return! ☺️

My 2 girls have just spent the week with Eva and to be honest I don’t think they wanted to come home! They had a great time, long walks in the fields and lots of cuddles and care when at home. Daily updates and photos were a comfort and confirmed they were being exceptionally cared for. I have already rebooked with Eva for a future holiday!!

We left Nero with Emma for 3 nights and couldn’t have been happier. We received plenty of pupdates and communication was excellent throughout. Emma even offered a video call beforehand, which really put us at ease as it was our first time using Rover. She’s clearly very experienced with all kinds of dogs and a genuine dog lover. Nero was so well looked after. We’d highly recommend Emma and wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

Millie seemed happy when I collected her, Patrick let her sleep on the bed as she does at home which I have no doubt would have made her feel safe as Millie is quite needy. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Patrick.

Csilla is absolutely wonderful. She is very experienced and has a calm energy which any dog would respond well to. My anxious (rescue) Chihuahua was instantly comfortable at the meet and greet and came home from his overnight stay happy and relaxed. I’m delighted and my dog is already looking forward to a week’s holiday with Csilla.

I'm delighted with how Poppy cared for Minnie, my elderly and fairly nervous jr/chihuahua cross. Minnie had a lovely time pootling about the garden with Poppy's lovely, gentle dog Narla. I could see from the photos and video Poppy updated me regularly with, that Minnie was happy and relaxed - which in itself is an achievement. I have no hesitation in recommending Poppy for dogs care and will definitely be booking her again.

About: 🐾 A Home Away From Home for Your Best Friend! 🐾 Hi! I'm a lifelong dog lover with years of hands-on experience caring for dogs of every age, breed, and personality. Dogs have always been a huge part of my life, so I understand that every pup is unique and deserves plenty of love, patience, and individual attention. From energetic puppies learning the ropes to gentle senior dogs needing a little extra care, I'm experienced with it all. I've helped with puppy training, supported older dogs with arthritis and mobility issues, and cared for every stage in between. Whether your dog is full of zoomies or prefers a slower pace, I'll make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and happy during their stay. I've looked after dogs of all shapes and sizes—from tiny Jack Russells right up to gentle giants like Dogues de Bordeaux—so no matter how big or small your four-legged family member is, they'll be welcomed with open arms. Your dog will have plenty of room to make themselves at home in our spacious house, with lots of cosy spots to relax, nap, or simply potter about. Outside, we have a large, secure garden where they can stretch their legs, play, sniff, and soak up the fresh air. We're also surrounded by beautiful countryside, making it the perfect place for exciting adventures, leisurely strolls, and plenty of sniff-filled walkies. Sharing our home is our lovely spayed female Golden Retriever, who absolutely adores other dogs. She's friendly, gentle, and always happy to make new friends—whether that's a game of chase in the garden or simply lounging together after a long walk. I know how important it is to leave your dog with someone you trust, and I'll care for them as if they were one of my own. Whether they're staying for a day, a weekend, or a longer holiday, you can relax knowing they'll receive lots of love, attention, playtime, cuddles (if they enjoy them!), and updates so you can see what they've been getting up to. I can't wait to meet you and your furry friend! I work from home full-time, so caring for dogs fits naturally into my daily routine. My schedule already revolves around my own Golden Retriever, meaning your dog will always have company, attention, and plenty of opportunities for exercise and relaxation throughout the day. Our mornings start with breakfast (our Goldie would never let us forget it!), followed by a long walk through the beautiful nearby woods and countryside. If anyone comes home a little muddy after their adventure, they're more than welcome to enjoy a quick rinse before settling in. While I work, the dogs can relax wherever they're most comfortable, with free access to our spacious, secure garden whenever they fancy a sniff or a potter outside. I take regular breaks throughout the day for playtime, cuddles, toilet breaks, and, of course, the occasional well-earned treat! In the afternoon, we head out for another walk before winding down for the evening. Whether your dog loves exploring, playing, snoozing, or simply being close to people, they'll enjoy a relaxed, home-from-home environment with lots of love, attention, and companionship. Your dog's safety, comfort, and happiness are my top priorities. We have a large, fully secure garden with high fencing, giving dogs plenty of space to run, play, explore, or simply relax in the fresh air whenever they like. I also make sure that any plants within their reach are dog-safe, so you can have complete peace of mind. Sharing our home is our friendly, spayed Golden Retriever, who absolutely loves the company of other dogs. Whether it's a game of zoomies around the garden, exploring together on walks, or curling up for a well-earned nap, she's always delighted to welcome a new furry friend. Inside, our home is spacious, calm, and relaxed, and dogs can settle in wherever they feel most comfortable. Whether your dog is playful and energetic or prefers a peaceful snooze after a walk, they'll have plenty of space to feel safe, loved, and right at home.

About: I have over 20 years of experience owning dogs and have been offering dedicated dog walking services for the last two years. I pride myself on providing varied, engaging walks tailored to each dog's personality, including swimming opportunities for the water lovers! When your pets are with me, they are treated exactly like my own. You can rest assured they will receive an abundance of attention, exercise, and cuddles. I'm available for boarding or walking any day of the week. I have a Labrador myself however if you'd prefer your dog to be sole dog, then I can often arrange for my dog to go to family. I have a back yard and also a garden available for dogs to go out. I'm also very close to a number of scenic walks for your dog to experience different sniffs.

Ella-Marie gave my almost 7-year-old cockapoo, Chloe, the loveliest last minute sleepover when originally plans for her care during my graduation ceremony fell through. Chloe has never had a sleepover with anybody other than my parents, so I had been a bit nervous about how she’d be when she returned, but she was happy and relaxed and had clearly had the most gorgeous time. I would unreservedly recommend Ella-Marie for anybody looking for a loving and relaxed dog sitter for their precious pups.

Whilst we were away we got daily updates and pictures and just knowing our boy was having a wonderful time allowed us to relax and enjoy our weekend away. Cariana is such a lovely gentle person I felt so confident leaving Bramble with her. She was so kind and appreciative of the fact that I was anxious about leaving my dog after a really bad experience with another sitter some years ago. Bramble had a lovely stay and was very well cared for and had tons of fuss and attention. I had regular pup - dates and lots of photos which put me at ease. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Cariana.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Dog Boarding in County Durham on Rover is £31.92 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Dog Boarding easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Dog Boarding. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 512 sitters on Rover offering Dog Boarding across County Durham. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in North East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
