“Yvonne and David were amazing again! So great with our boys, taking them on adventures and putting up with their 'quirks'. Such a great feeling to be able to go away and not worry at all.”

“We had such a great experience leaving Vader with them and honestly couldn’t have asked for better care From the start they were friendly, polite, and really easy to communicate with, which made the whole process feel stress-free. While we were away, they kept us updated with regular photos and videos, which we really appreciated, and it was so reassuring to see how happy and settled he was. It was obvious Vader was completely comfortable and having the best time (I genuinely think he would’ve happily stayed longer!!) They really embraced his personality as well, even his obsession with bringing his collection of sticks in the house lol, which made it feel like he was properly understood and cared for, not just “looked after.” When we picked him up he was absolutely exhausted, which says everything; clearly lots of walks, playtime, and attention. We wont hesitate to book with them again and would 100% recommend them to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, caring, and genuinely great with dogs”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better experience for Luna’s overnight stay. Luna stayed overnight while we travelled to Birmingham, and we felt completely reassured from the start. We received plenty of updates and photos, and it was lovely to see how relaxed and comfortable she was throughout her stay. Communication was excellent, Jesica and Sam were warm, friendly and clearly cared about Luna’s wellbeing. Pick-up was smooth, so everything was handled professionally. Thank you for taking such great care of Luna. We would highly recommend you to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog sitter. We would happily book again!”

“I'm so happy with the care Inca received from Lauren and Ross but more importantly, Inca was happy. Absolutely top notch care and attention with lovely and reassuring updates. You won't go wrong leaving your precious pet in their care and I won't hesitate to book again if needed.”

About: I have cared for dogs since I was 11 years old and currently have a two-and-a-half-year-old Cockapoo in the UK. Alongside caring for my own dog, I have experience looking after both small and large breeds, as well as raising cats and rabbits in my home country. Dogs staying with me will enjoy daily visits to the nearby park, with at least two 30-minute walks or play sessions each day. With the owner’s permission and where it is safe, they can also enjoy off-lead play. I am patient, attentive and always take the time to understand each dog’s individual personality and routine, treating every pet as part of my own family. I believe every dog deserves to feel safe, loved and at home while their family is away. I am a PhD student with a flexible schedule, and my partner is at home full-time, so dogs staying with us will have plenty of company, attention and supervision throughout the day. Our usual routine includes three outdoor trips at around 9 am, 3 pm and 8 pm, with walks, playtime, sniffing and games of fetch in the large park just two minutes from our home. Between walks, dogs are free to relax, play and spend time with us at home. We also do our best to follow each dog’s usual feeding, walking and sleeping routine, so they can settle in quickly and feel comfortable and at home. We live in a spacious two-storey house with plenty of room for dogs to relax, play and move around comfortably. A large park is only a one-minute walk from our home, making regular exercise and outdoor time easy. Dogs are not routinely kept in crates, although we can follow their usual crate routine if requested. All guest dogs are welcome on the sofa, and dogs under 30 kg may sleep on the bed with the owner’s permission. We carefully follow all care instructions and make sure every dog is well supervised throughout their stay. I also keep detailed records of your dog’s daily routine and wellbeing, including their meals, walks, toilet habits, mood, behaviour and any other important changes, so you can easily keep track of how they are doing. Regular photo and video updates are provided throughout the stay, together with detailed status updates, so you’ll always know your dog is safe, happy and having fun. Photos are shared in a way that allows owners to easily view and save them as lovely memories of their dog’s stay.
“Jack was really settled & happy during his stay with Andrew. Lots of lovely long walks, and a fair few cuddles on the sofa. They got on like a house on fire, and became firm friends, even though it was only a short stay. Jack didn't even look up when I left after dropping him off... :-( Andrew kept me updated with what they were up to & sent some pictures, which was great. I would have no hesitation in recommending Andrew - he takes time to understand a dog's quirks & foibles, and tailors his plans accordingly. Jack had such a great time that when I went to pick him up, I had to literally drag him to the door!!”

“Erin and Alex were incredible with Tec; caring, lovely and excellent communicators. I'll definitely be asking for help when I need a sitter again. I was especially grateful for the brilliant updates and time Erin and Alex took to meet, greet and later make sure Tec settled and was comfortable. Would recommend”

“Would 100% recommend! Luna really enjoyed her stay, settled in really quickly and we got lots of daily updates. Thank you so much for looking after our baby 😊”

“Cooper had a brilliant time on his holiday with Rebecca and her family. She was extremely welcoming and attentive to his needs. Our pre meet was extremely helpful and gave us an opportunity to ask lots of questions beforehand. She provided daily updates as agreed with photos and short videos of his time there. This gave us peace of mind he was enjoying himself whilst we were away. Messages are responded to quickly and she was very flexible with pick up/drop off times and also with activities for dog walking based on the weather during a mini heat wave. Rebecca lives near a nature park so Cooper thoroughly enjoyed his daily walks exploring and getting out into the open fields along with her own Cockapoo Douglas who was very friendly. We would highly recommend Rebecca and no doubt Cooper will be back for more holidays in the future.”

“Rachel and Jamie were incredible with our Luna! Super friendly and welcoming, and were very kind in being flexible when our train was cancelled on the way back from our trip away for the weekend. We’d highly recommend them as sitters as Luna looked like she was having the time of her life the entire weekend! Thank you again, Rachel & Jamie!”

About: Hi I am Millie, I have grown up with dogs and cats all of my life and before moving away to Newcastle for university I had 3 dogs and a cat. I love animals and would love to help out friends and family members whenever they were going away or needing some support by looking after any of their pets! I am not in a position to have my own pet at the moment but I think this is an amazing alternative and would love to be involved. While I currently work full time during the week as a trainee solicitor I am available from friday evening to late on sunday to look after any animals! I have lived in Newcastle for 5 years now after moving here for university and fallen in love with the city. I would love to have a pet of my own but see this as the perfect opportunity during the weekends to look after someone else animal and care for them! I have a fenced garden with a locked gate and plenty of space in my 4 bedroom house. My garden space is enough for any size dog and I am also close to a large field

About: I have been around dogs for many years and have been a dog owner since 2018, when I welcomed Ruby, my Cockapoo, into my life. I was actively involved in her training and have gained plenty of hands-on experience caring for her over the years. Although I have since moved away from home, I regularly look after Ruby when my parents are on holiday. I also occasionally care for my partner’s parents’ Weimaraner when they are away, giving me experience with dogs of different breeds, sizes and personalities. I am currently in between jobs, so dog sitting is a great way for me to spend my time doing something I genuinely enjoy. I am also happy to look after dogs while working from home, meaning they can have company, attention and care throughout the day rather than being left alone for long periods. At the moment, I am not working, so I have plenty of time to give dogs lots of attention, including nice long walks, regular toilet breaks and plenty of time to relax and have cuddles. When I start my new job, I will be working from home three days a week, so I will still be able to provide plenty of care and company. I can walk the dog before work and during my lunch break, as well as let them out into the garden regularly for toilet breaks. I think having a dog around while I work will be great company for both of us! I have a secure, fenced garden where dogs can safely enjoy some fresh air and outdoor time. I don’t currently have any pets of my own, so your dog will have my full attention and be the centre of attention while they are staying with me. I understand how important it is to trust someone with your pet, and I will always make sure they feel safe, comfortable and well cared for in a calm and welcoming home environment.
“I was very apprehensive about leaving my baby with a stranger, but Phoebe immediately put my mind at ease. She was very responsive and looked after our little dog, Cloud, so well. She regularly sent us pictures and updates, which was incredibly reassuring. Cloud is a Lhasa Apso and a very sensitive little dog, so I was particularly worried about how he would cope. When we picked him up, he was happy, relaxed and clearly had been very well cared for. Thank you so much, Phoebe, for taking such wonderful care of our precious Cloud. We would be more than happy to leave him with you again in the future and hope you'll have him back! 🐾❤️”

About: I’ve grown up caring for dogs, including my own Shih Tzu, so I understand their needs and personalities deeply. I’m gentle, patient, and great with both playful pups and senior dogs. I focus on comfort, trust, and keeping each dog happy, safe, and loved—just like they deserve. I work part-time on weekends from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m., so I’m free most afternoons and weekdays to walk, play, and care for dogs. Spending time with them fits easily into my routine—it’s something I truly enjoy and look forward to every day! I treat every dog as if they were my own. In a pet owner’s home, I follow their routine carefully—feeding, walking, and playtime just as instructed. I make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved, keeping their space clean and cozy while giving them plenty of attention and affection.
“We have a 3 legged disabled Rottweiler who has vulnerabilities and can be very cautious with people she doesn’t know. We contacted Jake who went out of his way to adapt his home for her as she struggles with smooth wooden floors. We tried an overnight stay to see how she is and how he bonds with her. Jake went above and beyond to accommodate Xena. We then went on our family holiday and he sent regular updates and worked on the bond and building the trust with Xena over the 2 week period. He gained her trust to overcome her vulnerabilities and we got regular updates and photos. I would highly recommend Jake. He put our minds at ease knowing our dog was getting what she needed and was well looked after. Thanks Jake 👍”

“Amber was very professional and I felt reassured that Milo would be well looked after. He did indeed have a wonderful time and Amber sent messages and photos throughout the stay. I wouldn’t hesitate to book again and highly recommend her service.”

“Beth took great care of Zeke overnight, sending lots of pictures and responding quickly to my messages. Zeke came home happy, so I highly recommend Beth and will use her again. She was attentive to Zeke's needs and made sure he was well-fed and comfortable. Thankyou very much for taking care of my not to little puppy :)”

Christina’s nephew Panos who was helping her during Coco’s stay did a fantastic job of looking after her. He was super kind and caring and sent frequent updates during her stay to let us know how she was getting on. We did a meet and greet ahead to ensure Coco got on well with Apollo (Christina’s lovely, amiable, black lab) which she did, and so it was also lovely to know and see she had great doggy company too. Thanks for taking good care of our Coco. 👍🏻🙏🏻

Beth was amazing!! We are usually so nervous leaving our two dachshunds as they are our babies and it can be challenging finding someone who can handle them as they can be barky and territorial. Beth kept us completely calm and reassured, she sent numerous picture updates each day of the boys enjoying their walks to the beach, park and cafes, socialising them with other sausage dogs and cuddling them lots. We couldn’t have asked for a better level of care, Beth was fantastic with our babies.

Lauren looked after our Jim for 2 nights for his first visit, she sent us regular updates with messages and pictures to show how he was getting on. This was Jim’s first time away from us and we felt really confident leaving him with Lauren, as the updates showed how loved and looked after Jim was. Booked in again already, thanks Lauren!

Copper and Ginny stayed for two weeks, and we honestly couldn’t have been happier with the care they received. From the very beginning, they took the time to get to know the dogs with a pre-stay visit and made notes about their individual routines and schedules. This really showed how kind, considerate and attentive they were. They made Copper and Ginny feel completely at home — it really was a home from home for them. It was lovely to receive regular updates while we were away, which gave us great peace of mind and was very much appreciated. Most importantly, the dogs came home very happy and clearly enjoyed their time with them. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them and will definitely be booking with them again. Thank you so much for taking such wonderful care of Copper and Ginny! 🐾
Jessica and her partner were amazing with our dog Peanut once again! This was the longest I’ve ever been away from him, so it was incredibly reassuring to receive regular updates and photos of him having the best time. It was so lovely to see how happy and well looked after he was, and knowing he was in such caring hands made being away from him so much easier. Thank you both so much for taking such great care of Peanut. We really appreciate everything you did and will 100% be using Jessica again! 🐾❤️

Rebecca has been absolutely amazing! From our first meeting where she gave us all the information we needed we knew Aston would be in great hands. Communication was brilliant with daily pupdates on how Aston was getting on and pictures of his walks and antics. Special thank you for being so accommodating!

would of given 6 stars . Deborah was fantastic and would definetly book her again. Our dog Tyler is 12 years old and never stayed with a sitter before. Deborah came to meet tyler beforehand and collected him on the day he was staying with her . Deborah sent us a couple of videos of Tyler settling in which was very reassuring and brought him back to us the next day which was very helpful. would 100% recommend Deborah to look after my pet . She was fantastic and lovely lady

We were very happy to leave our dog, Charlie, in Barbara's capable hands while we attended a family wedding nearby. Barbara clearly knows her stuff when it comes to dogs and she knew exactly what Charlie needed from the moment he arrived. It was great to receive a message from her letting us know how Charlie was getting on, reassuring us that he was fine. If we are ever in need of a Newcastle based dog-sitter again, we will definitely be contacting Barbara.

My 2 dogs had a wonderful time with Benjamin! They came home with bright eyes and very waggy tails which is always a give away. I wouldn’t hesitate to leave my dogs again with Benjamin. Loved the photos he sent us too as they were snuggled up on his lap. Thanks again, they will definitely be back to see you

Jake was absolutely amazing from start to finish. Before the booking, he invited us to visit with our dog, Link, so he could get used to the environment, which really put our minds at ease. On our wedding day, Jake kept us updated with regular photos and messages, allowing us to fully relax and enjoy our special day knowing Link was happy, settled and in such safe hands. It was clear how much care and attention Jake gave him, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We would highly recommend Jake to anyone looking for a caring, reliable and professional dog sitter. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of Link!

Sitters in North East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
