“I was really nervous about leaving my dog with strangers for the first time but with regular pupdates of how Rosie was & the fact they stuck to her routine put me at ease. The fact they had a friendly dog themselves made Rosie’s stay much more fun I would definitely use this couple again.”

“Anna and her husband looked after Koko over the weekend and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. They were very responsive from the start and kept us updated throughout his stay with messages, photos, and videos, which gave us real peace of mind. They were both incredibly supportive and helpful, and it was clear that Koko was well cared for and comfortable. I truly think he really enjoyed his little staycation with them! We would absolutely recommend Anna and her husband and wouldn’t hesitate to book with them again.”

“Lauren has looked after our two staffies twice now and we couldn’t happier with the level of care. She’s brilliant at sending regular updates and great at wrangling our big bundles of energy. We can tell how much our girls love staying because this time when we dropped them off they ran to the front door!”

About: Before coming to the UK, I was basically a mom of 7 dogs. Spending time with them is never tiring . Aren't they little angles ✨ I have flexibility since its summer and I have no school. Pet care just kinda slips into your day—like feeding your furry overlord when you wake up, going on poop patrol during walks, and brushing enough fur to make a second pet. Once a week, it’s spa day When I’m caring for pets—whether in my home or someone else’s—it’s all about creating a safe, cozy vibe they can trust. I pet-proof the space (no sneaky snacks or chewable cords!), stick to their routine so they feel secure, and shower them with affection

“Rebecca was fantastic and bruno really enjoyed his stay with her family and making friends with her dog Douglas. Rebecca kept myself and my partner updated during bruno's stay with plenty of pictures and messages to re assure us he was safe and loving his life. Bruno will definitely be returning ☺️”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better experience for Luna’s overnight stay. Luna stayed overnight while we travelled to Birmingham, and we felt completely reassured from the start. We received plenty of updates and photos, and it was lovely to see how relaxed and comfortable she was throughout her stay. Communication was excellent, Jesica and Sam were warm, friendly and clearly cared about Luna’s wellbeing. Pick-up was smooth, so everything was handled professionally. Thank you for taking such great care of Luna. We would highly recommend you to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog sitter. We would happily book again!”

“We really appreciated being able to meet Connie before our 2 year old Terrier stayed with her. It was reassuring for us that she has a good understanding of terriers' quirks and personality ( and clearly enjoys them!) Our boy came home happy and relaxed from a two night stay. We also appreciated the photos she sent during his stay, particularly the ones of him smuggling up for cuddles with her....he looked so chilled out! We will certainly be asking her to take care of him again”

“On our meet and greet, Jake was very professional and calm focusing solely on bonding with our dog. Jake asked us alot of questions regarding the day to day routine and was ok feeding Storm raw food after he walked us through Saltwell park. Jake went above and beyond sending photos, videos and voice messages on Whatsapp during Storms stay. Jake brough Storm out in his car and to dog a cafe. Storm is a large breed, American Akita, who is particular of strangers but accepted Jake straight away. He has stayed twice now. Jake was very understanding that Storm has to be the only pet during his stay and accommodated without issue.”

“Lyudmila has been professional though out Dizzie stay with message also pictures and walks . Lyudmila listened to Dizzie when she’s needed go to the toilet also for her walks . Nothing was a problem to Lyudmila she made me so comfortable for Dizzie to stay at her lovely home . Also it’s home to home for Dizzie . I will be booking again for Dizzie at Lyudmila .”

“Cocoa had another fantastic stay with Erin and Alex. They are both so lovely and accommodating, and kept us updated with photos and updates. Cocoa had the best mini holiday. Thanks again guys :)”

About: I’ve grown up caring for dogs, including my own Shih Tzu, so I understand their needs and personalities deeply. I’m gentle, patient, and great with both playful pups and senior dogs. I focus on comfort, trust, and keeping each dog happy, safe, and loved—just like they deserve. I work part-time on weekends from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m., so I’m free most afternoons and weekdays to walk, play, and care for dogs. Spending time with them fits easily into my routine—it’s something I truly enjoy and look forward to every day! I treat every dog as if they were my own. In a pet owner’s home, I follow their routine carefully—feeding, walking, and playtime just as instructed. I make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved, keeping their space clean and cozy while giving them plenty of attention and affection.

About: I have been surrounded by dogs my whole life growing up with, looking after and training two Labradors who have both been anxious with other dogs. I am a friendly individual who will make sure that dogs feel safe and comfortable while on walks and in my home. I am highly capable of looking after both young and old, small and big dogs and will cater to each and every need:) I have just finished my final year of university and am staying in Newcastle for two more months so have plenty of free days. I love going on walks and getting out of the house and would love to be a new (second) best friend for your pet! I live in a maisonette where we have looked after dogs on three separate occasions with sufficient space in the living room and easy access to a nearby park. I will ensure that there are no harmful and chewable objects around. There are no other dogs in this house so my full attention will be given to your pet:)

“Great updates throughout the day. Some lovely pics. Our pup loved being there he had some great walks. Followed all the directions left, and he came back home happy as Larry! Will definitely book again”

“Julie was amazing. She was so professional, caring and reliable. Her family and home are beautiful and our dog obviously felt safe and secure with them. We were provided with daily updates and pictures and our dog came home relaxed and very well cared for. I’d definitely recommend Julie. Amazing job. Thank you.”

“Grace was wonderful with our new puppy and was very welcoming to our situation. Since he is only 11 weeks old and hasn’t had his second vaccination yet, we needed someone who could care for him on his own, without other dogs around. Grace gave us frequent updates and photos, which was very reassuring. Oscar seemed to love his stay so much that he almost didn’t want to leave! We would definitely recommend her.”

About: I've always enjoyed spending time with dogs and have experience caring for both my parents' dog, Wilf and my boss's dog, Marty. I've looked after Marty for multiple days at a time, providing feeding, walks, playtime and comfort while his owners were away. I understand how important it is for owners to know their dog is happy, safe, and well cared for, so I make sure to follow their usual routine and provide regular updates. Every dog has their own personality and needs, and I enjoy getting to know them and helping them feel comfortable and settled. Living just a couple of minutes from Jesmond Dene and close to Heaton Park means I can offer dogs plenty of exercise and opportunities to explore some of Newcastle's best walking routes. I work from home two days a week, which gives me flexibility to provide dog walking, drop-in visits throughout the day and at weekends. Whether your dog needs a lunchtime walk, company during the day, or overnight care, I can work around their usual routine to ensure they receive plenty of attention, exercise and affection. I aim to keep schedules as consistent as possible to help dogs feel relaxed and secure. Your dog's safety and wellbeing are my top priorities. Before any booking, I like to learn about their routine, personality, exercise needs and any special requirements so I can provide care that's tailored to them. My home has a secure fenced garden for supervised outdoor time and I'm located just two minutes from Jesmond Dene, with Heaton Park also nearby, providing access to fantastic walking routes and green spaces. When caring for dogs, I follow instructions closely, maintain your pet's usual routines, and ensure they always have access to fresh water, exercise and a comfortable environment. I'll also provide regular updates and photos so you can have peace of mind while you're away.
“Avi & G were brilliant with Minnie. They hosted her for a week when we were on holiday. We got lots of updates during the week. Minnie clearly settled well and loved her holiday. We would not hesitate to book again with them”

“Jessica is a lovely, warm and friendly person and has an obvious love and enthusiam for dogs. Our dog Dexter had an overnight stay with Jessica when we visited Gateshead and he had a wonderful time, going for walks and making friends with Jessica's own dog. We had great communication before and during Dexter's stay. As we left Dexter was virtually hugging Jessica goodbye! I'm only sorry we live so far away as I would use Jessica on a regular basis and will do so if we visit the area again, I can't recommend her highly enough.”

“We were blown away by Anna and Alex’s care for Ronnie this weekend. The communication was perfect throughout. You could tell they really cared about fully understanding and catering for Ronnie’s special needs. Lovely updates while we were away and total peace of mind. We’d ask them to look after him again in a heartbeat and would recommend them to anyone looking for trustworthy sitters to look after their pet. Thanks again Anna!”

“Yuen was absolutely amazing in taking care of Eddie and always sending lots of photos of him. I would strongly recommend her services if you’re looking to leave your dog with someone.”

Rebecca was absolutely amazing, she arranged a meet and greet first, which was very reassuring. Then when our doggles went to stay we had regular updates, photos and videos. And one of our dogs has separation anxiety so Rebecca was very understanding and accommodating to suit his needs. We couldn’t have asked for any more! Thank you so much, the pups will be excited for their next stay 🐶🐶

Gizmo had a wonderful stay with Yvonne and her husband. They took such good care of him and posted pictures of his adventures with them. Gizmo usually gets stressed when he is away from his family but he was so relaxed when I picked him up. Would definitely recommend Yvonne to look after your dog.

Kerry was an amazing sitter for our golden retriever. We had the opportunity to meet before, and the questions Kerry asked gave us confidence she was experienced and would give Suzy the best care. During Suzy's stay we got plenty of updates and photos so we could see how happy and calm she looked. The stay was during a heatwave and Kerry did everything right to keep Suzy safe and cool. In the end Suzy didn't want to come away! We could tell she'd been very well cared for and was happy. We would definitely rebook with Kerry and recommend her to anyone looking for a sitter.

Lauren has looked after our two staffies twice now and we couldn’t happier with the level of care. She’s brilliant at sending regular updates and great at wrangling our big bundles of energy. We can tell how much our girls love staying because this time when we dropped them off they ran to the front door!

Phoebe and Jake took excellent care of our dog Jasper when we went on holiday. They had him for four nights, kept him to his usual routine and kept us up to date with how he was doing whilst we were away. It sounds like he's really enjoyed himself and has been very well looked after. I would have no hesitation in booking Phoebe again if we needed someone to take good care of our dog. Thank you again 😀

We couldn’t have asked for a better experience for Luna’s overnight stay. We would happily book again!

Evie looked after Duke on Saturday and I couldn’t be happier with the service. Communication was excellent throughout the day, with plenty of updates and great photos which gave us real peace of mind. Duke came home happy, relaxed and clearly well looked after. It’s obvious Evie genuinely cares about the dogs in her care and I’d have no hesitation recommending her or booking again in the future.

Jessica is a lovely, warm and friendly person and has an obvious love and enthusiam for dogs. Our dog Dexter had an overnight stay with Jessica when we visited Gateshead and he had a wonderful time, going for walks and making friends with Jessica's own dog. We had great communication before and during Dexter's stay. As we left Dexter was virtually hugging Jessica goodbye! I'm only sorry we live so far away as I would use Jessica on a regular basis and will do so if we visit the area again, I can't recommend her highly enough.

Louise gave me regular daily updates, and put my mind at ease as it was the first time I’d left my angel for a week. Louise also took her on little dog adventures and made sure she was well cared for in the hot weather. Easy to communicate with, and I could tell my little darling was safe and sound.

Milena was absolutely fantastic with Griffin, and put so much effort in to comfort him on his first night away from home. Fantastic communication with lots of photos and updates, and very accommodating and understanding of our last minute booking. Overall great experience thank you!

Anna was amazing with our boy. We've used Rover quite a few times and up until Anna not a single one of them hit the mark with his care. I do get anxious when leaving him and Anna really put me at ease, I had multiple updates throughout his time with her, which not only showed our dog was well taken care of but he was so relaxed and clearly having a good time! I would 100% recommend Anna, she is very caring, understanding, flexible and kind. Thank you Anna ❤️

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming

- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
