“Alex was brilliant with my two dogs, they both felt comfortable with her straight away. She was efficient and great at communicating prior to the booking. I got photo updates and knew they were in safe hands :) thank you Alex!”

“Corinne took care of our puppy well and was really respectful of our home and guidance for training Lily. She’s a lively puppy and it was the first time we were leaving her so it was made much easier by Corinne’s updates and photos.”

“Natalia did a great job with Kiwi. Natalia is great at responding to messages and sending updates. She is also very calm and all the instructions. Kiwi was settled and calm after Natalia left which to me always indicates that her needs were met. Highly recommend Natalia”

“Pablo house sat to look after our two dogs for five days. This was the third time Pablo has looked after our dogs and as usual he provided the best possible care. He always cares for them as if they were his own, keeps us updated with pictures and videos and we have never once worried about leaving the dogs with him. Pablo has always gone above and beyond and we can’t thank him enough.”

“Jessica was a fantastic dog sitter. I felt really at ease knowing my dog was left in such capable hands. She sent regular updates, asked questions rather than just guessing, and truly cared for my dog. I would certainly recommend!”

“When Louise came over to first meet buddy, he instantly warmed up to her, which is unusual as he can be quite nervous around new people. She kept me updated with how buddy was doing and helped to make the whole experience easy. I will definately be using her services again, and im sure buddy cant wait!”

About: I’ve grown up caring for dogs, including my own Shih Tzu, so I understand their needs and personalities deeply. I’m gentle, patient, and great with both playful pups and senior dogs. I focus on comfort, trust, and keeping each dog happy, safe, and loved—just like they deserve. I work part-time on weekends from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m., so I’m free most afternoons and weekdays to walk, play, and care for dogs. Spending time with them fits easily into my routine—it’s something I truly enjoy and look forward to every day! I treat every dog as if they were my own. In a pet owner’s home, I follow their routine carefully—feeding, walking, and playtime just as instructed. I make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved, keeping their space clean and cozy while giving them plenty of attention and affection.

About: I offer stress-free dog boarding, walking and other services, with experience insured boarding staffies and other high energy breeds. 🐾 I have grown with dogs and surrounded by them all of my life. My family have had staffies, Labradors and Rottweilers all of my life, I basically learned to crawl with one licking my face!! I am well versed in breed with bucket full of affection and breeds who like to stick to their schedules💜 I work in finance and have the flexibility to work from home, I will be able to do home visits and walks during office hours as well as boarding! I will be able to give your pet my full attention to ensure they do not pick up anything they shouldn't. My home is a secure ground floor flat with a yard. I live with my partner who will be involved if boarding. If you have any training you would like me to maintain or help with, please let know.

About: I’ve had dogs for over 10 years and regularly care for them independently, in Newcastle and at home, from a samoyed to a little pomerenian. I’m used to managing daily routines, walks, feeding, playtime, and quiet companionship. I’m a third-year university student at Newcastle, so my schedule is fairly flexible outside of lectures and study time. I am free weekdays and weekends, evenings as well. I’m used to planning my days in advance and can easily fit pet care into my daily routine. Always down for walks as study breaks (need my 10k steps a day) and spending time at home, which works well for giving dogs consistent attention, care and lots of cuddles (if the dog will be happy). I follow the owner’s schedule very clearly, walking times and house rules to make the dog the most comfortable and secure. I adjust my care depending on the dog’s energy level ( I do usually 1 big walk in the afternoon and 2 small walks in the morning and evening, but depending on the dog). I always try and make the dog as comfortable as possible and make his day as enjoyable and full of activities as the weather allows.
About: I have own a dog in the past for 15 years aswell as dog sat my neighbours dog Rosie, 8 year old Jack Russell terrier. I have recently helped a lost dog and invited him in my apartment until we found his owner, providing him love, attention, comfort, food and water. I also enjoy playing Frisbee with my boyfriend's dog Wolf, a 9 year old Border collie. I am willing to seek a career in pet care as I love animals and it breaks my heart when I see animal abuse and neglect or even animals on the streets alone. Sadly, in 2019 my bestfriend Snoopy died which inspired me to help and look after pets. I beilieve that their have rights just as humans do! I would also like to address that I dont own my own transport and would like to travel locally due to not knowing the area due to anixety issues, however your beloved pet is welcome in my property, I dont have some much of a garden but ive lived in Gateshead for 2 weeks now and I am pretty near to Saltwell Park for walks or even a game of frisbee to get enough exercise and fresh air and I can ensure you peice of mind that they are kept on a lesh if required by the owner all times when out and about and wont let them out of my sight. I don't have a garden, but I can ensure you to keep your pet on a leash at all times when going on walks and toilet breaks.

About: Lived around cats and dogs all my life, grew up with a staffie and love all types of dogs. Spent time looking after my neighbours dog who was a big labrador who needed medicine regularly. I am currently a personal trainer and swimming teacher. I work unsociable hours so I have time to stop by during the day and at times a normal 9-5 worker can not be home. I am also a car owner. I am not afraid of dogs, I have the ability to put your pet in a crate if needed and can give medicine when required. I can also play with your pet cat or dog with any toys they have. I have my own car which I am the only driver of.

Through my studies and personal experience, I understand animal behaviour, health and safety, and husbandry. I always aim to make pets feel comfortable, cared for and happy while their owners are away. I’m reliable, communicative and genuinely love spending time with animals. I am in my summer holidays of uni with few other commitments so have plenty of time to look after and play with your pets! I enjoy keeping dogs physically and mentally stimulated with games, enrichment activities and exploring local parks and new walking routes. I always adapt to each dog’s energy levels and routine so they feel comfortable and happy.
About: I’m a reliable and caring pet sitter who’s a little pet deprived! I’m from the USA but currently studying for my Masters in Newcastle, and I miss my dog and cat terribly. Alongside having pets of my own, I’ve also completed house sitting jobs where I’ve cared for dogs by feeding them, letting them out and playing with them while also caring after the home. I’m responsible, tidy and happy to follow your pets routine to keep things as normal as possible I’m currently working on writing my dissertation which I luckily can do from anywhere! All I need is wifi so my schedule is super flexible. I have a small studio for pets to roam around but I also live very close to parks and plenty of trails to take walks.

Pet owners share their Rover experiences - Newcastle upon Tyne
This was our first time having Severine over while we were away and the experience went super smooth! Happy to have had her over so I could enjoy my trip knowing the cats were well looked after and safe in the meantime. It was clear that the cats felt comfortable around her! She kept us updated the entire time, followed all the instructions I had, was very communicative, polite and tidy! I came home to very relaxed and happy cats and the flat just as I had left it ♥️ We will definitely be booking her again!

Sophie saved us when our cat sitter cancelled last minute and was absolutely wonderful! She was so kind with the girls and kept us updated with regular photos and messages. She went above and beyond when we had a house emergency while we were away and was able to help us sort it - we are very very grateful! Would absolutely have her back to look after the girls and would recommend her to anyone else!

Such a lovely and friendly girl! Cannot praise her enough! Both doggies were happy and relaxed and she kept me updated. Our older dog had an operation last week so we were worried to leave him but we didn’t need to worry at all! The boys can’t wait to rebook!

I’d never used a cat sitter before, and I’ve had Cassi for 13 years—she’s been my baby since I was in Year 6. When my mum brought her up to Newcastle after my partner and I moved in together, I knew leaving her would be hard, so I was definitely a bit anxious. Katie was fantastic from start to finish. She communicated really well, sent us lovely photos every day, and made me feel completely at ease having her stay with Cassi. When we got back, it was clear Cassi had been happy and settled, which meant everything to me. I’m so grateful for the care she gave her. I’d happily recommend Katie to anyone and would absolutely use her again next time we go away. She also left the house exactly as we’d left it—clean, tidy, and no trouble at all. 5 stars all round!

I honestly couldn’t have asked for better dog sitters. I was quite nervous as it was my first time leaving them, but they completely put me at ease from the start. They kept me updated regularly with messages and photos, which really reassured me while I was away. It was clear both my dog and cat were being really well looked after and given lots of care and attention. I came home to a spotless house, which was such a lovely touch and really appreciated. Everything felt calm, tidy, and just as I’d left it. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for reliable, caring pet sitters. I wouldn’t hesitate to book them again.

- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Newcastle upon Tyne choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
