We had a meet and greet with Keely earlier this week, followed by a sitting service today. Keely is really good with our Dog, we’re all at ease with her. Very easy to get along with, it’s clear she has a passion for animals. We will most definitely be using her again in the near future.

About: I’m a very bubbly, caring and patient person. I’ve grown up around animals, cats and dogs. My grandma has had many cats over the years that I have helped to care for. Presently my grandma has 2 cats, that were feral, that I’ve helped to take care of many times and I looked after them from when they were both kittens. Previously my grandma had had a Miniature Jack Russel and a Lhasa Apso, which I would sometimes care for. My aunt owns 4 cats, a French Bulldog, an African Grey Parrot and a Corn Sanke. Two of the cats are Mainecoons, who I love playing with. My Aunt has also previously had Mastiff’s and a Malamute, which I would also care for time to time. I’m currently working part time at a bar, so I mainly work nights. On a Thursday and Saturday morning I volunteer at a charity for animals. Around all this I can take your energetic dogs out for a walk or I can stay and keep your dogs/cats company. I am also happy to play with them too. I will care for your pets by taking them out on walks, playing, feeding and even keep ing them company when they want a cuddle.

Natasha was amazing looking after Riley. Plenty of photos and videos which helped us relax as this was our first time using a home sitter with Riley and we were to say a little anxious. Riley absolutely love spending time with her and is so chilled on our return. Thank you Natasha great service

About: Experienced dog‑lover returning to Rover after some time away. I previously cared for a Spaniel of my own and have years of hands‑on experience with energetic, affectionate breeds. I offer a calm home, long walks, enrichment, and plenty of attention. I’m reliable, communicative and always send regular updates so you know exactly how your dog is doing. Pet First Aid trained and confident with a range of temperaments — your dog will be in safe, caring hands. I'm really lucky to work hybrid and flexibility 90% of my week. I am more than happy to work with parents to ensure that any alone time is limited and that their dog has the best stay possible. I’d like to think that you are getting a quality service where your dog is treated as my own and will be taken on quality nature walks whilst in my care.

About: As a huge dog lover, I have extensive experience working with all breeds and temperaments — from small companion dogs to larger, more challenging breeds such as Cane Corsos and XL Bullies. My background includes working with the police as a dog handler, carer, and trainer, giving me hands-on experience in canine behaviour, training, and handling. I am also qualified and experienced in assistance dog handling and canine behaviour, and I currently work as a night veterinary assistant. This means your pets will always be cared for by someone knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely passionate about animal welfare. I’ve grown up around dogs my entire life, raising puppies and adopting rescue dogs throughout childhood and into adulthood. I currently have two rescue dogs of my own: Milo is my adopted Romanian mixed breed. He is well trained, gentle, and very affectionate. He gets along well with most dogs, although he can feel a little anxious around very large or overly excitable dogs. Milo can also be nervous in unfamiliar environments at first, but once he feels settled and comfortable, his soft and loving personality shines through. He is especially gentle and friendly with children once familiar with his surroundings. Moby is my 3-year-old Collie mix, also rescued from Romania. He is a sweet, easy-going boy who can be timid when meeting new people due to his difficult past, but he absolutely loves other dogs and enjoys playing. He can spook easily at times, but he is very well behaved, fully house trained, and equally happy having a play or simply relaxing and chilling out. I am very much a dog person and feel completely comfortable caring for dogs of all breeds, sizes, and personalities. I treat every dog as if they were my own and always aim to provide a calm, loving, and safe environment. You can be confident that your dog will be happy, relaxed, and comfortable during their stay — a true home away from home. Use my code “LEWISC58962” or link to get £15 off your first booking with me on Rover: https://www.rover.com/sit/lewisc58962 I am able to look after my dogs Milo 10yrs and Moby 3yrs alongside with my partner. He is a routine man and will wake up minutes before my alarm for a morning walk and food, he then usually has a afternoon walk followed by an evening walk before bedtime. I previously worked from home that allowed me to care for pets while your away and treat them with as much love as I do with Milo and Moby and their maintaining with routines. Your dog will be more than happy and comfortable here with milo and Moby, me and my partner pampered like one of our own along side regular updates. I have unclosed back garden, where they are free to wonder out and in along with Milo to keep company and plenty toys keeping keep them entertained while they stay, home away for home. Caring for your pet will be around your daily life and care for them, if they are crate trained or sleep in their own bed or in ours we will stick to what you/they know best to keep everything as natural and comfortable during their stay.

First time that Maya has looked after Zeus and she ensured that he had the best time, gave him all of the attention that he demands 🤣 Maya came to see Zeus at short notice but did not hesitate to commit to looking after him… she sent me plenty of updates and really put my mind at ease. Will definitely have Maya look after Zeus in future.

Debs and Dave are two of the nicest people you could ever meet. From the moment they first came to (meet and greet) us I knew my fur babies were in safe hands. With regular photos and videos of the 3 cats obviously enjoying themselves, my home was looked after and respected too. We can’t wait for them to come back!! See you soon many thanks and lots of purrs from us all xx

I can't recommend Alannah highly enough! She looked after our cat, Cersei, and our whippet, Luna, with so much care, love, and attention while we were away. Cersei was unfortunately suffering from a UTI at the time, and Alannah went above and beyond by keeping me updated on how she was doing. Her regular check-ins and updates gave me so much peace of mind and meant I could actually relax knowing Cersei was being so well cared for. Luna is a sensitive little soul, so I was a little worried about how she'd cope, but she took to Alannah immediately. That says everything about how gentle, kind, and compassionate Alannah is. She has such a calming nature, and it was obvious both of our pets felt completely comfortable with her. I also really appreciated all the lovely photos and little check-ins throughout our trip. They truly put me at ease and made being away from our pets so much easier. I will 100% be asking Alannah to come back and stay in our home to look after Cersei and Luna again. Thank you so much, Alannah ❤️

Amelia, what can I say! Teddy loves you. We hired Amelia to look after Teddy for almost two weeks while we were on holiday. She came to our home to look after him during the day (our son was home for the evenings) and I felt so relaxed that he was in such good hands. Teddy is a sensitive dog and doesn’t warm to everyone. He loves her! Thank you so much Amelia. It made our holiday that our gorgeous boy was so well looked after and had lots of cuddles. We will definitely stay in touch and book again. Incredible service. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

About: I have taken care of mainly dogs, and temporarily cats too (they adopted me haha!). I had looked after small - medium - big sized dogs. Longest period is caring for a medium sized Cocker spaniel for 10 years before she passed away from cancer. The biggest breed I have looked after is a Rottweiler much heavier than me. He's the sweetest baby I love him so much! I am naturally patient with animals and have an overflow of love to give to these beautiful souls! Your family is safe and happy with me ❤️ I'm working part time 80%. Most available on weekends and Mondays. (For any service except boarding) Partly available on Wednesdays so can consider drop in visits/ walks on the day. I am available most (if not all) holidays so you will feel utter relief to have me care for your beloved family if and when you want to get away! :) I am most available around Seaton Burn, secondly Gateshead so we can get to each other faster if you're around these areas. I have a car which helps in getting around. My day job is working as a GP if it helps! I'm fully DBS checked, with up-to-date safeguarding training. Not a vet but my profession is all about optimising care and safety, meeting my client's needs and minimising risk! 💯 I have numerous experiences looking after pets at home, whether mine or someone else's home. I have great situational awareness when doing walks in outdoor settings. I don't mind any breed really. That's why I'm doing this! (As I can't have all breeds) ♥️ The heaviest breed I have cared for and walked is a rottweiler over 65kg+. So I genuinely don't mind larger dogs. Of course it also depends on the temperament of the dog and the bond we have on meet and greet. At the moment I'm not providing boarding service on my profile as I'm renting, but this may change depending on what kind of pets you're needing care for. Just contact me to discuss :)

About: Hello! I'm Oscar, I'm 36 years old, and I love animals! That's why I'm here! I am also a volunteer carer at the Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter, so I am more than comfortable around any pet and will be able to attend to your pets' needs. My cats, Nala and Marie, are everything to me. They're both rescued cats from the streets. They're house cats but they do enjoy some outdoor time, we love to take them out on leads to have a little walk on the porch or back garden. I know what I'd want from someone looking after my girls, and always try to do the best for others peoples' pets!

Absolutely amazing! They did such a good job of looking after Woody, we got updates daily, pictures down to the littlest detail of how he was doing! We were able to meet them a few days beforehand so they could meet our pup and he could be introduced, and we couldn’t be happier! 10/10, I’d definitely recommend them and book again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Sunderland walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sunderland choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
