“Wonderful experience with Keely housesitting for a week, our two dogs (one nervous) took to her immediately and she kept us well updated with plenty of pics to put us at ease. Think the dogs were disappointed when she left, I would definitely use Keely's services again!”

About: I’m a very bubbly, caring and patient person. I’ve grown up around animals, cats and dogs. My grandma has had many cats over the years that I have helped to care for. Presently my grandma has 2 cats, that were feral, that I’ve helped to take care of many times and I looked after them from when they were both kittens. Previously my grandma had had a Miniature Jack Russel and a Lhasa Apso, which I would sometimes care for. My aunt owns 4 cats, a French Bulldog, an African Grey Parrot and a Corn Sanke. Two of the cats are Mainecoons, who I love playing with. My Aunt has also previously had Mastiff’s and a Malamute, which I would also care for time to time. I’m currently working part time at a bar, so I mainly work nights. On a Thursday and Saturday morning I volunteer at a charity for animals. Around all this I can take your energetic dogs out for a walk or I can stay and keep your dogs/cats company. I am also happy to play with them too. I will care for your pets by taking them out on walks, playing, feeding and even keep ing them company when they want a cuddle.

“Absolutely amazing service! From the first visit I knew Alannah was the perfect person to look after my dog. I was a bit apprehensive as he is very nervous and has never been left with somebody he doesn’t know really well, but settled perfectly and loved the regular updates and photographs I received throughout my holiday. She is so patient and followed his routine. Also kept my house lovely and tidy too It was very obvious she is an animal lover and genuinely cares for the animals she looks after I could not recommend enough and have booked again for my next holiday ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

About: As a huge dog lover, I have extensive experience working with all breeds and temperaments — from small companion dogs to larger, more challenging breeds such as Cane Corsos and XL Bullies. My background includes working with the police as a dog handler, carer, and trainer, giving me hands-on experience in canine behaviour, training, and handling. I am also qualified and experienced in assistance dog handling and canine behaviour, and I currently work as a night veterinary assistant. This means your pets will always be cared for by someone knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely passionate about animal welfare. I’ve grown up around dogs my entire life, raising puppies and adopting rescue dogs throughout childhood and into adulthood. I currently have two rescue dogs of my own: Milo is my adopted Romanian mixed breed. He is well trained, gentle, and very affectionate. He gets along well with most dogs, although he can feel a little anxious around very large or overly excitable dogs. Milo can also be nervous in unfamiliar environments at first, but once he feels settled and comfortable, his soft and loving personality shines through. He is especially gentle and friendly with children once familiar with his surroundings. Moby is my 3-year-old Collie mix, also rescued from Romania. He is a sweet, easy-going boy who can be timid when meeting new people due to his difficult past, but he absolutely loves other dogs and enjoys playing. He can spook easily at times, but he is very well behaved, fully house trained, and equally happy having a play or simply relaxing and chilling out. I am very much a dog person and feel completely comfortable caring for dogs of all breeds, sizes, and personalities. I treat every dog as if they were my own and always aim to provide a calm, loving, and safe environment. You can be confident that your dog will be happy, relaxed, and comfortable during their stay — a true home away from home. Use my code “LEWISC58962” or link to get £15 off your first booking with me on Rover: https://www.rover.com/sit/lewisc58962 I am able to look after my dogs Milo 10yrs and Moby 3yrs alongside with my partner. He is a routine man and will wake up minutes before my alarm for a morning walk and food, he then usually has a afternoon walk followed by an evening walk before bedtime. I previously worked from home that allowed me to care for pets while your away and treat them with as much love as I do with Milo and Moby and their maintaining with routines. Your dog will be more than happy and comfortable here with milo and Moby, me and my partner pampered like one of our own along side regular updates. I have unclosed back garden, where they are free to wonder out and in along with Milo to keep company and plenty toys keeping keep them entertained while they stay, home away for home. Caring for your pet will be around your daily life and care for them, if they are crate trained or sleep in their own bed or in ours we will stick to what you/they know best to keep everything as natural and comfortable during their stay.
“Maya was very friendly and attentive with our little Tino. He took to her straight away and didn't look back at me when leaving. I received photos and an update with Tino cuddled in on the sofa - very cute. We look forward to Mayas next visit in a couple of weeks would very much recommend- thank you 😊💙”

About: I have taken care of my friend's dogs for over 4 years now, dogsitting, walks and vet appointments, and I feel confident to look after your pets whenever you need. I am a university student with only two days at uni with most of my time being spent at home studying on my own at home which makes my schedule very flexible. My flat has restricted windows, and there is a garden/parking which is walled in the back of my apartment block where I can take your pets for fun time on the grass.

“Iris absolutely loved her time with Jenny! I felt so comfortable leaving her knowing she was in good hands, and I was kept up to date with pictures and updates which was amazing. Will definitely rebook in the future - thank you!”

“5 stars. Can't say enough good things about Jatuporn. My dog is big, young, and nervous...not easy! But TJ was very patient and understanding with her, accommodating Jo Jo's sensitivity to get her trust. She quickly found the way to Jo Jo's heart by throwing the football with her (endlessly). And they made progress in trust while I was away. She kept me informed via text throughout my trip so I was never worried. I would recommend her without hesitation to other dog owners who need someone to take care of their dog while they are away.”

“Jordan was absolutely brilliant with our rescue huskador Dillon - just the right mix of excited to see him but a lovely calming presence! We had so many amazing photos sent, so we always felt super secure, and Jordan went above and beyond with looking after the house (and us at times!) Couldn't recommend more highly 😊”

“Debs and Dave are two of the nicest people you could ever meet. From the moment they first came to (meet and greet) us I knew my fur babies were in safe hands. With regular photos and videos of the 3 cats obviously enjoying themselves, my home was looked after and respected too. We can’t wait for them to come back!! See you soon many thanks and lots of purrs from us all xx”

“Alex was brilliant with my two dogs, they both felt comfortable with her straight away. She was efficient and great at communicating prior to the booking. I got photo updates and knew they were in safe hands :) thank you Alex!”

About: Hello! I'm Oscar, I'm 36 years old, and I love animals! That's why I'm here! I am also a volunteer carer at the Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter, so I am more than comfortable around any pet and will be able to attend to your pets' needs. My cats, Nala and Marie, are everything to me. They're both rescued cats from the streets. About: I’ve always grew up around dogs and have a cockapoo of my own who is turning 6 this year. He is my pride and joy and have had him since he was a puppy. I should be available to mind your dog when my beloved boy is not in the house which is usually every other weekend as he goes to stay with other family. I work full time so would not be able to take your dog unless I was off work during the week. I am usually available on weekends , please feel free to message so I can check availability and in some cases re- arrange things. I would be available most evenings if required for dog walk or dog sit. My current work schedule is: Tuesday 8.30-6.30 Wednesday 8.30- 6 Thursday 8.30-6.30 Friday 8.30- 6.30 My partner finishes work at 2.30 on a Friday. Please message with any requests as unless I am working I can usually be quite flexible with my arrangements as my dog enjoys his sleep overs with other family. I have a high fenced back yard. I am happy to take any bedding/ blankets belonging to the pet to make them feel more comfortable within my own home. I also allow dogs on my furniture and bed as feel they should be treated like part of the family . The dog would never be left alone within my care where I go they go and if they don’t like social settings that’s fine, walks and chills on the sofa also work for me! For every dog I consider taking I would like to meet the dog and owners to understand the dog and make sure I can meet its needs. I am also happy to send owners updates of the dog when they are under my care as I know it’s Important to know your dog is having a good time!

I live with my brother who is more often free on a Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. I have a walled back garden large enough for sunbathing and toilet breaks more than play time, but I have West Park just down the end of the street with running space for days! Home is open plan downstairs, pooches are free to roam the house apart from the bedrooms.

Pet owners share their Rover experiences - Sunderland
Zoe was fantastic, kept us updated with photos and even figured out a very confused set of instructions I left! All pets were very calm and happy when we got back, and the house was very well taken care of. Zoe clearly has a way with animals as both cats immediately liked her on the first meeting, which is rare for us! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Zoe.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sunderland choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
