About: I’ve taken care of a variety of animals, mostly dogs, having run my own pet care and mess cleaning service a few years ago (Furry Friends Cleanup Crew). I am very comfortable with dogs, cats and other animals of all sizes and temperaments. Having said this, it’s still important that I meet your furry companions before a sit to give them a chance to know me and so they’re more comfortable during our time together. I’m lucky enough to have a flexible work from home role so pet care works very well with my lifestyle. As long as you are happy for me to bring my laptop along I am able to house/pet sit as long as you need. I have my own car and a clean driving license. At my home I have plenty of room and a high walled garden, so plenty of safety and space. I make sure to give dogs as many bathroom breaks as they need when sitting, wether that means taking them for frequent walks or simply letting them out in the garden if that is the preference.

About: I’ve grown up caring for dogs, including my own Shih Tzu, so I understand their needs and personalities deeply. I’m gentle, patient, and great with both playful pups and senior dogs. I focus on comfort, trust, and keeping each dog happy, safe, and loved—just like they deserve. I work part-time on weekends from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m., so I’m free most afternoons and weekdays to walk, play, and care for dogs. Spending time with them fits easily into my routine—it’s something I truly enjoy and look forward to every day! I treat every dog as if they were my own. In a pet owner’s home, I follow their routine carefully—feeding, walking, and playtime just as instructed. I make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved, keeping their space clean and cozy while giving them plenty of attention and affection.

About: I’ve grown up around all kinds of animals! I helped out on my uncles farm and my first “job” was volunteering in my local pet shop, I have my own baby girl Winnie (Maine coon) who is super friendly! I have also grown up with my grandparents 12 cats, 2 Gerbils, Bernese mountain dog, Great Dane cross and Newfoundland so I am accustomed to all animals big and small. I have a large fenced garden and Saltwell Park a 5 minute walk down the road. I also drive, so trips to the beach or other green spaces is a guarantee. I am a teacher so I am off every weekend and I get all school holidays off and have no foreseeable travel plans. I have a big garden and large open plan downstairs as well as a huge local park 5 minutes walk away which I visit regularly. I am generally active and playful with animals! I have a fenced garden and local park close by, I drive so can pick up/drop off and do day trips to the beach etc. My current cat is indoor only but she has full roam of the house and gets harnessed outdoor time in the garden for enrichment. I would be happy to cater for indoor or outdoor cats though and she is very comfortable with dogs having come from a mixed pet household and having met all our friends pets.

Absolutely amazing! They did such a good job of looking after Woody, we got updates daily, pictures down to the littlest detail of how he was doing! We were able to meet them a few days beforehand so they could meet our pup and he could be introduced, and we couldn’t be happier! 10/10, I’d definitely recommend them and book again!

Kira was fantastic! She had great communication, asked all the right questions and came at short notice to look after Tilly for the afternoon. I felt very confident leaving Tilly in Kira's capable hands and came home to a very happy dog. Will definitely be booking Kira again when Tilly needs some extra company! Thank you Kira from me and Tilly!

About: Cat sitting + Clinical researcher - Newcastle upon Tyne and all areas nearby Cats have been a part of my life since I was 11 years old, and my love for them has only grown over the years. Since moving to Newcastle, UK, I’ve helped friends care for their cats, and in 2017, I adopted my own beloved black cat who has been my loyal companion ever since. Through my experience, I’ve encountered & managed a diverse range of cat care situations, including: ✔ Feeding difficulties & picky eaters ✔ Managing constipation & digestive issues ✔ Post-surgery aftercare & recovery support ✔ Providing comfort, cuddles & companionship Cats are more than just pets to me, they are a fundamental part of my life... As a devoted cat lover, I understand their behaviours, emotions & needs. Being a cat sitter isn’t purely a job; it’s a passion... With a genuine heart for feline care, I am committed to ensuring every cat feels safe, comfortable & well cared for in my presence. As a dedicated cat sitter, I understand that every cat has a unique personality & their comfort, health is my top priority... Some cats are independent, while others need extra attention & reassurance - especially when faced with a new person. I take the time to build trust, ensuring each cat feels relaxed & at ease in my care. 🐾Tailored Care for Every Cat🐾 Clear communication with owners is essential to providing the best possible care. Whether your cat needs feeding, fresh water replenishment litter box maintenance, cuddles, grooming, medication administration (including injections), or close observation, I will follow your instructions carefully, thoroughly & attentively. Each visit usually lasts between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on your requests & your cat’s needs. 🐾Reliable & Transparent Service🐾 To give you peace of mind while you're away, I can send regular photos and videos - as many as you’d like! You can always stay updated & reassured about your cat’s well-being. 🐾Flexible & Trustworthy🐾 I am a permanent resident of Newcastle upon Tyne with a clear DBS check, ensuring reliability & trustworthiness. I am always open to learning and adapting to your cat’s specific needs. Any special requests, let’s discuss them...I’ll do my best to accommodate. Price is negotiable depending on travel time, requested timing & specific needs!!! Your cat’s happiness & well-being are my top priority. I’m here to provide loving, professional care. Let’s chat about how I can help... It depends. There will be a discussion with clients. Sometimes I work remotely, sometimes I am not. There will be the timetable for me in advance for clients to check prior to their decision to contact me. Alternatively, please contact me by email directly. We will schedule a meeting for the pet care. I am happy to cover all the areas in Newcastle upon Tyne. Different cat has different personality and behaviour towards loneliness and facing a stranger, even different attitudes towards female and male. Communicating with cat owners is also quite important to know how to take care of their cats and how to max my help. I hope every cat is the most comfortable around me. As long as owners tell me in brief or detail what treatments and services you need from me, I will let you know if I can do it or not, I will try and learn as much as I can to provide my service based on your cats' needs as my responsibility. By following the owner's instruction, I spend 30 - 40 mins/each visit with cats who need daily feeding, cuddling, combing, medication administration or/and injections and observation. Photos & videos are available to send to owners as needed.

I honestly couldn’t have asked for better dog sitters. I was quite nervous as it was my first time leaving them, but they completely put me at ease from the start. They kept me updated regularly with messages and photos, which really reassured me while I was away. It was clear both my dog and cat were being really well looked after and given lots of care and attention. I came home to a spotless house, which was such a lovely touch and really appreciated. Everything felt calm, tidy, and just as I’d left it. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for reliable, caring pet sitters. I wouldn’t hesitate to book them again.

I would 100% recommend Anastasia to anyone needing someone to look after your pets! Anastasia and her partner looked after my dog, Nellie and my cat, Mango at my home for a few days while we went London. They were both so friendly and formed such a good bond with Nellie and Mango straight away! Anastasia sent over loads of photos while we were away and kept in contact regularly, her communication was always so quick and was very reassuring. Mango and Nellie looked like they had such a fun time and I will definitely be reaching out when I need a pet sitter in the future! Thank you both so much for the last minute booking and how much care and love you showed towards Nellie and Mango, I appreciate it so much!😊

The average cost for House Sitting in Gateshead on Rover is £29.33 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 513 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Gateshead. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Gateshead walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Gateshead choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
