“Katie was absolutely amazing, and I'll definitely be recommending her and booking her again. Her communication was excellent throughout. She provided detailed Rover cards and always kept me up to date with any changes or concerns. She took fantastic care of Cleo and made me feel completely comfortable leaving her in Katie's care. Even though Cleo is a very shy cat, Katie was patient enough to gain her trust, and within a few days she was able to pet and play with her. When Cleo managed to get out through an upstairs window, Katie handled the situation calmly and kept me updated throughout. She followed the plan we agreed to make sure Cleo could get back inside safely, and I really appreciated how reassuring and proactive she was. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Katie to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and communicative pet sitter.”

“Thank you Sophie for stepping in last minute to give puppy Lottie some company while I was at work Really appreciate you making the time to come and meet us all last night too to put our minds at rest and to see what she'd need on the day! Very caring and a natural around animals!”

About: I grew up in a house with a lot of pets and have always loved spending time with, nurturing and caring for animals. Friends and family have relied on me to care for their pets, including puppies and older dogs, large and small I'm self employed so have a lot of time and energy to help you care for your pets and keep them active and healthy. I can provide walking or pet-sitting services during weekdays on a very flexible basis to best suit your schedule I have a safe and spacious flat in central Newcastle where I can care for cats and smaller dogs, but which might not be suitable for larger dogs. I can provide pet-sitting services at your home in this instance, if required

About: I’ve taken care of a variety of animals, mostly dogs, having run my own pet care and mess cleaning service a few years ago (Furry Friends Cleanup Crew). I am very comfortable with dogs, cats and other animals of all sizes and temperaments. Having said this, it’s still important that I meet your furry companions before a sit to give them a chance to know me and so they’re more comfortable during our time together. I’m lucky enough to have a flexible work from home role so pet care works very well with my lifestyle. As long as you are happy for me to bring my laptop along I am able to house/pet sit as long as you need. I have my own car and a clean driving license. At my home I have plenty of room and a high walled garden, so plenty of safety and space. I make sure to give dogs as many bathroom breaks as they need when sitting, wether that means taking them for frequent walks or simply letting them out in the garden if that is the preference.

About: I'm a caring, reliable pet lover with experience looking after dogs and cats of all ages and personalities. I've cared for energetic puppies, gentle senior dogs, nervous dogs who need extra patience and reassurance, and cats with their own unique routines. I understand that every pet is different, so I take the time to get to know their needs, whether that's a relaxed walk, plenty of playtime, or simply providing calm companionship. My priority is making sure your pet feels safe, happy, and loved while you're away, giving you complete peace of mind. Im currently a university student, so have lots of free time as my course is very independent based! I love seeing my regular pups on a daily basis, it fits perfectly into my routine and keeps me busy. Your pet's safety, comfort, and happiness are always my top priorities. Whether I'm caring for them in my home or yours, I make sure they have a calm, clean, and secure environment where they can feel relaxed. I follow their usual routine as closely as possible, including feeding, walks, playtime, and any special instructions, to help them feel settled. I treat every pet as if they were my own, giving them plenty of attention, patience, and care while keeping you updated for complete peace of mind.

About: I’ve been around dogs and cats since I was a baby. Growing up my grandparents also owned parrots, bunnies, dogs of all sizes, cats, tortoises, fish, you name it…my parents always had dogs and cats. I also owned a dog for 11 years. I feel most comfortable around animals :) Being an older sister of 3, I grew up being the responsible one, caretaker and I’d also walk the dogs, train them, feed them and help my parents in any way I could. When I adopted my first own dog, I learned how much love I have to give and how much responsibility it takes to look after a furbaby. He was very anxious and reactive, so it was 11 years of learning and challenges, but he was the sweetest and goodest boy, right up until the end. I’m currently working full-time. For now I’m looking to combine my love for animals and building up a side income during my free time. I’m happy to look after and walk your pets during my free time on the weekends. I can drive which allows me to get to places a bit further out. I cannot have pets in my own home sadly. However, I’m happy to come in and check on your kitten or pooch while you’re away. I can also pet sit if needed and play with, feed and walk your dogs. I can also train and teach your dog (or cat, if they feel like it haha) some tricks. Work on their confidence by using gentle rewards and lots of patience on their walks. I have experience with reactive dogs and I know how important it is to maintain comfort and special care for the sensitive pups.
“We booked Anastasiia in for a brief sitting before she looks after Finn for 3 weeks. She’s polite and efficient in her responses to all queries. Finn loved her and we feel really comfortable having her watch over him (and the house) while we’re away.”

I’ve also had experience in looking after friends dogs at there house overnight where I’ve made sure there dog is fed ,watered and walked as many times as requested . i work as a carer but i have spare hours where i can look after and play with your dogs and give them all the attention they deserve i have a fenced garden where your dogs can play and have fun and also a labrador of my own so they have a friend , i also own a crate if its needed I’m currently on a break from full time work so I can give all my attention to my new furry friend! About: I’m a lifelong dog lover with hands-on experience from my own Labrador and previously my much-loved Doberman and Dalmatian. I enjoy heelwork, obedience training, agility, scentwork, swimming, frisbee, and fetch - always tailored to each dog’s unique energy, age, and breed. Whether it’s a high-drive pup or a senior needing a gentle pace, I adjust to their individual needs with patience, structure, and care. Pet care fits naturally into my routine right now as I’m currently on maternity leave and have lots of flexibility for walks and drop-in visits. I bring my little one along in a pram or carrier, so I’m only able to care for dogs who are comfortable around children. This setup allows me to give dogs regular, focused attention while maintaining a calm and steady routine. I treat every dog with the same care and attention I give my own. During walks and drop-ins, I focus on safety by using secure, well-fitting gear and choosing routes that match each dog’s energy level, temperament, and confidence. I never rush or push dogs beyond what they’re comfortable with — I move at their pace, whether it’s a high-energy outing or a calm sniff-and-stroll. I follow all instructions carefully, from feeding and medication to specific training cues or behavior preferences. I’m always watching for changes in body language, mood, or behavior so I can respond quickly and appropriately. Building trust is essential — both with the dogs and their people. I communicate clearly, keep owners updated with photos and messages, and aim to make every visit feel reliable, calm, and positive for your pet.
About: I’ve grown up caring for dogs, including my own Shih Tzu, so I understand their needs and personalities deeply. I’m gentle, patient, and great with both playful pups and senior dogs. I focus on comfort, trust, and keeping each dog happy, safe, and loved—just like they deserve. I work part-time on weekends from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m., so I’m free most afternoons and weekdays to walk, play, and care for dogs. Spending time with them fits easily into my routine—it’s something I truly enjoy and look forward to every day! I treat every dog as if they were my own. In a pet owner’s home, I follow their routine carefully—feeding, walking, and playtime just as instructed. I make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved, keeping their space clean and cozy while giving them plenty of attention and affection.

About: With over a decade of experience starting from the age of 10, I have honed my skills in providing exceptional care for dogs of all breeds and sizes (from Cockapoos & Chihuahua’s to Japanese Akitas & Newfoundland’s!). What sets me apart from other dog sitters is my deep passion for animal welfare, personalised approach, and attention to detail. I treat every dog as if they were my own, ensuring they receive the love, exercise, and companionship they need while you're away. My early start in dog sitting has given me a wealth of knowledge and a genuine understanding of dogs' needs, making me a reliable and trusted choice for pet owners. I’ve currently got plenty of spare time within the next month, at which I point I will be working Part-Time Monday-Friday. I will be available every evening & weekend and only at work for a few hours during the day! When caring for pets in their owner's home, I prioritise creating a safe and comfortable environment for them. I conduct a thorough assessment of the home to identify and mitigate any potential hazards, such as securing loose wires, removing harmful plants, and ensuring access to clean water and safe, designated areas for play and rest. I adhere to the pet's regular routine, including feeding, exercise, and any specific care instructions provided by the owner. My attentive approach ensures that pets not only feel secure but also remain healthy and happy while their owners are away.

“I had a great experience with Stuart through Cat in a Flat and would happily book him again. He was professional, reliable, and communicated well during his five visits over three days, which gave me peace of mind. My cat hid at first, but by the final visit she came out for him — a real sign of his calm, patient approach. Definitely recommended”

About: Hi there! My name is João, I came from Brazil to do my PhD research a few months ago and, since then, has been working as pet sitting in Newcastle. I had to leave my two cats under my friend's care during the period I am here (sadly but also thankfully), so I sincerely can relate with the need of having someone responsable, trustful and experience to look after our littles. I have experience taking care of dogs and cats here, as well as of pets for family and friends in Brazil, including dogs, cats, hamsters and bunnies, which I consider positive experiences in developing a sense of how to provide assistance in different situations regarding sitter them. For me, aside from doing an extra money to support my period of study here, it will be a genuine pleasure to spend time with your pets and give them all the love I keep with me for my cats, and I will make sure to take care of your pets with the same attention I would like mine to be cared, ensuring they will be safe, respected and catered to all needs. As I have flexible times at university my schedule is always free. I am available all day every day of week so we can previously arrange the activities you need to be provided (including home visits, house sitting, walk in neighbourhood, take or pick from home to somewhere, or others). But as each pet has their own personality, before I can look after your pets I will need to know as much as possible about them, like routine, diet, any allergies, medicines, behaviour alone and with other animals, in and out of home, activities that they enjoy etc. If you feel that I can help you caring your pet please send me a message so we can chat about how I can help. Claire was absolutely fantastic. She really helped me out by taking a booking at short notice. Luna was clearly very well looked after and seemed so happy when I returned after an extremely long day away from the house. Claire kept me updated with pictures and even managed to get some cuddles from Luna, which was so lovely to hear as she can be a little timid with new people! It was so nice to come home to a happy cat — and even a new toy for Luna from Claire! 🥰 This was my first time booking somebody to look after Luna who wasn't a friend or family member, and Claire made the whole experience so much more comforting with her responsiveness, attentiveness and friendliness. I will certainly be booking Claire again if needed, and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone to look after their pet! ❤️

Anne was fantastic with our cat and gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. They were reliable, communicative, and clearly caring, taking the time to understand our cat’s routine and personality. We came home to a happy, relaxed pet and everything exactly as expected. I’d absolutely recommend Anne to anyone looking for a trustworthy, cat sitter. We'll be booking with her again

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
