“Amy was just what we needed. Our Paddy was at ease and the drop in time was great to get him in the garden and a bit of company. Amy was on time and great with communicating. Will be using again 🙂”

“Maya was very caring when looking after my two cats, she spent time playing with them and sent lots of photos of them while she looked after them which I appreciated! I’m sure Bean and Toast will look forward to seeing them again next time we go on holiday! Thank you Maya :)”

“Eve is a professional, caring person with the added advantage of her being a veterinary nurse and I will definitely use Eve again to look after Bella. She came to meet us prior to the booking, though Bella hid behind the sofa!!! Hopefully Bella will make friends with Eve next time (very nervous cat initially). Honestly contact Eve she is lovely and trustworthy. X”

This lifelong experience has provided me with a deep understanding of the unique needs and personalities of various animal companions. About: I’ve grown up surrounded by animals, including dogs, cats and other pets, so caring for animals has always been a natural part of my life. I understand that every pet has their own personality, routines and little quirks. Whether it’s a playful dog who needs plenty of enrichment, a nervous pet who needs patience and reassurance, or a cat who prefers calm and consistency, I take the time to understand what makes each animal feel comfortable and safe. I’m attentive to the small details — changes in behaviour, body language, preferences and routines — because I believe great pet care is about more than the basics. It’s about creating trust and making sure your pet feels happy and cared for while you’re away. I’d love to welcome your dog or cat into a calm, caring environment where they receive the attention and respect they deserve. I work from home, which allows me to build pet care naturally into my daily routine and provide regular attention throughout the day. My days already include structure, including daily walks and time dedicated to being active and outdoors, so caring for a pet fits naturally alongside my existing routine. I enjoy creating a calm and consistent environment where pets can feel comfortable and settled. When caring for pets alongside my own cats, I prioritise their comfort and safety. I would provide separate spaces where needed, allowing each pet to have their own area, routine and time to relax. For example, visiting cats would have their own dedicated space while they settle in, with individual time spent with them throughout the day, while my own cats have their familiar areas. For dogs, I would take a similar approach by managing introductions carefully and making sure each pet has the space and attention they need. I believe pets are happiest when they feel secure, respected and able to adjust at their own pace. My goal is to make pet care feel like a natural part of my day while ensuring every animal receives personalised attention, routine and companionship. My priority is creating a safe, calm and comfortable environment where every pet feels secure. My home has a fully fenced garden, providing a safe outdoor space for pets to enjoy fresh air and supervised time outside. I always prioritise safety, including being mindful of each pet’s behaviour, needs and comfort levels. As I have my own cats, I take introductions and boundaries seriously. I would provide separate spaces where needed, allowing each pet time to settle and feel secure in their own environment. Any interactions between pets would always be carefully considered, gradual and supervised, based on the individual temperament of each animal. I believe every pet deserves to feel safe, respected and understood. By maintaining clear routines, providing individual attention and adapting care to each animal’s personality, I aim to create a positive and stress-free experience while they are in my care.

About: I have taken care of mainly dogs, and temporarily cats too (they adopted me haha!). I had looked after small - medium - big sized dogs. Longest period is caring for a medium sized Cocker spaniel for 10 years before she passed away from cancer. The biggest breed I have looked after is a Rottweiler much heavier than me. He's the sweetest baby I love him so much! I am naturally patient with animals and have an overflow of love to give to these beautiful souls! Your family is safe and happy with me ❤️ I'm working part time 80%. Most available on weekends and Mondays. (For any service except boarding) Partly available on Wednesdays so can consider drop in visits/ walks on the day. I am available most (if not all) holidays so you will feel utter relief to have me care for your beloved family if and when you want to get away! :) I am most available around Seaton Burn, secondly Gateshead so we can get to each other faster if you're around these areas. I have a car which helps in getting around. My day job is working as a GP if it helps! I'm fully DBS checked, with up-to-date safeguarding training. Not a vet but my profession is all about optimising care and safety, meeting my client's needs and minimising risk! 💯 I have numerous experiences looking after pets at home, whether mine or someone else's home. I have great situational awareness when doing walks in outdoor settings. I don't mind any breed really. That's why I'm doing this! (As I can't have all breeds) ♥️ The heaviest breed I have cared for and walked is a rottweiler over 65kg+. So I genuinely don't mind larger dogs. Of course it also depends on the temperament of the dog and the bond we have on meet and greet. At the moment I'm not providing boarding service on my profile as I'm renting, but this may change depending on what kind of pets you're needing care for. Just contact me to discuss :)

Cat owners share their Rover experiences - South Tyneside
It was the first time I have had to use a professional cat sitter. Emily is very professional in her work and asked the appropriate questions in regards to my cat’s routine. Emily introduced herself first to my cats and they both loved her. Emily sent me daily updates as well as videos. I will be using Emily for next time and I highly recommend Emily to any of my friends who may need a sitter in the future.

We'll definitely be using Eve again in a heartbeat :-) Eve was very quick to respond when we made our initial inquiry, and swiftly organised a free "meet and greet" at a suitable time. When we met Eve she was incredibly warm and friendly and her passion for animal care shone through. Eve's visits included administering medication for our cat as well as feeding, cleaning, and playing. Our cat is usually shy with new people but the photos show that she thoroughly enjoyed Eve's visits. It was very humbling seeing our cat's disappointed look when she realised it was us coming through the door and not Eve!

We had a really positive experience with Alannah. She followed all the instructions carefully and was incredibly helpful and kind throughout. It was clear that she genuinely cared and took great care of our cat, which gave us real peace of mind while we were away. Overall, a fantastic sitter—we would definitely book with Alannah again and highly recommend her to others!

Amela is very reliable and gives great updates on my cat when I am away. Also has lots of common sense, when something didn't work the way she expected it to she immediately contacted me. I have no reservations to recommend her on her reliability and common sense attitude.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
