“I cannot recommend Louise enough she looked after both of my cats for 2 nights she kept me updated with photos and how they were doing throughout the day. I was able to go away and know my cats were in good care with Louise. The house was clean and tidy coming back home and she even emptied the bin before leaving. ”

“Maya was amazing from the very beginning; during the meet and greet I instantly felt comfortable with her and she engaged well with Walter. We shared information about Walter whilst he was in Mayas care and Maya took the information on board. During Walter’s care with Maya whilst we were away we received lots of updates, messages and was updated about their day. Maya went above and beyond not only ensuring Walter’s care and comfort was provided for but also ensuring my worries and anxieties as an owner leaving my dog was also met. Maya really looked out for Walter ensuring he didn’t feel lonely or withdrawn, Maya followed our instructions for Walter’s care and I am over the moon with her! I will be booking Maya again in the future and I can’t recommend her enough. Thankyou again Maya!”

“Caitlyn looked after Arlo from 8-5 for me. When I got back he was extremely tired and calm, which showed how much time she put in to playing with him and keeping him entertained. Made my evening so much more peaceful! Would highly recommend.”

“Julie saved us when our pet sitter cancelled last minute before our wedding earlier in the month. We've never left our pets with anyone (non-family/friends) before and were quite worried about our dog Walter. We needn't have been concerned as they were all happy on our return! If we need another pet sitter again I'll be contacting Julie first. I would definitely recommend!”

About: I understand that trusting someone with your pet is a big decision because I’m exactly the same with my own dog, Roo. She’s my daughter, and I would only ever leave her with someone I completely trust. That’s the standard of care I strive to provide for every pet I look after. As a professional dog walker, I hold a Level 3 qualification in Canine Behaviour and a Level 4 qualification in Canine First Aid. Combined with my hands-on experience professionally working with dogs since the age of 14, these qualifications allow me to understand canine body language, recognise signs of stress or illness, and provide safe, enriching care tailored to each dog’s individual needs. Whether I’m taking your dog for a walk, pet sitting during the day, or providing overnight care in your own home, I’ll treat them with the same love, patience and respect that I give Roo. I’ll take the time to learn their routine, personality and preferences so they feel safe, comfortable and happy while you’re away. I know how important peace of mind is, so I’ll keep you updated with regular messages and photos throughout my time with your pet. My priority is always their safety, wellbeing and happiness, giving you confidence that they’re in caring, knowledgeable and professional hands. Pet care is my full-time focus, so I plan my days around the pets I look after. This allows me to provide reliable walks, pet sitting and overnight stays without rushing, ensuring every dog receives the time, attention and enrichment they deserve. My own rescue dog, Roo, is at the heart of my daily routine, so I understand how important consistency, exercise and companionship are. I carefully organise my schedule to meet each pet’s individual needs, whether that’s sticking to their usual walking routine, feeding times, play sessions or simply providing company and reassurance while you’re away. I believe every pet deserves patient, attentive care, and I treat every dog as if they were a member of my own family. Your pet’s safety, comfort and happiness will always be my priority. I take the time to get to know every dog as an individual, understanding their routine, personality, likes, dislikes and any medical or dietary requirements, including allergies. As a professional dog walker with a Level 3 qualification in Canine Behaviour and a Level 4 qualification in Canine First Aid, I’m trained to recognise canine body language and behaviour. This allows me to assess how a dog is feeling and adapt my approach to ensure they remain relaxed, comfortable and happy throughout their time in my care. I’m experienced with crate training and understand that some dogs benefit from having a safe, familiar space to relax. I can also provide quiet, calming areas where dogs can choose to rest away from other animals if they need time to themselves. Every dog is different, and I always respect their individual needs and boundaries. I have a secure, fenced garden for safe outdoor time and share my home with my rescue dog, Roo, and my two cats. However, I appreciate that not every dog is comfortable around other animals. If your dog is nervous or prefers their own space, I can cater to their individual needs and carefully manage their environment to help them feel safe and secure. I know how much our pets mean to us because I feel exactly the same about Roo. She’s a member of my family, and I provide every dog in my care with the same patience, kindness, respect and attention that I would want for my own pet. My goal is to give you complete peace of mind, knowing your companion is in safe, experienced and caring hands.
About: I've always had pets, mainly cats but have also owned a husky & labrador in the past. Truly animal obsessed 😍 currently have 2 house cats (rescues). I currently work from home, wanting to get this started so I can reduce my hours and spend more time giving back to the world of fur! Whatever your pet needs can be arranged, I'm open to personalised requests based on your pets needs and will cater the service to provide the best care.

“Jessica was a fantastic dog sitter. I felt really at ease knowing my dog was left in such capable hands. She sent regular updates, asked questions rather than just guessing, and truly cared for my dog. I would certainly recommend!”

“Olivia recently stayed at our home and looked after our very energetic needy Labrador Oreo. We instantly felt at ease leaving Oreo with Olivia, she has great knowledge in looking after dogs and Oreo fell in love with her straight away, we will definitely use Olivia again in the future! Thanks again Olivia”

“Tasha was great with our cats having so much experience with her own we felt like our two would be right at home with her and we were right :) It was a last minute booking we needed but she made time to visit us the day before to meet our cats and go over their needs (as fitz especially is a weird one and bee hasn’t been dealing with the heat too well) She sent the most photos we’ve ever gotten from a cat sitter which really put our minds at ease. Thank you so much!”

“We had two brilliant experiences with Roxanne. She looked after my dog for the day and then on another occasion she looked after her for 3 nights while we were on holiday. Both times I felt very reassured by Roxanne. I can be quite nervous leaving Delilah to be looked after by others but Roxanne kept me updated with plenty of lovely messages and photos. When we met for a meet and greet it was clear how much Roxanne loves animals and what a good relationship she has with them. After the initial meet and greet I was much happier leaving Delilah with her. I would definitely recommend Roxanne to anyone and also will ask her to look after Delilah in the future. My house was left immaculate too.”

“Alex was brilliant with my two dogs, they both felt comfortable with her straight away. She was efficient and great at communicating prior to the booking. I got photo updates and knew they were in safe hands :) thank you Alex!”

“First time anxiously leaving our Mack with a dog sitter. How lucky we got finding Pablo. What a gent who genuinely had Mack’s best interests at heart. Listened to everything we said about his behaviours and both seemed to enjoy one another’s company. Confidently let him explore off lead in on his favourite walks. We both felt 💯 confident that Mack was safe and well. When he said he would look after him like his own, he truly did. Couldn’t be happier with Pablo and highly recommend. Thanks Pablo. You’re a Star 🌟”

“Jessica was absolutely amazing for our little Buddy. She was extremely caring and handled him with such love! She sent constant updates which was massively appreciated!! I will be booking her again as Buddy loves her and that is clear from when he saw her again and his tail was wagging away.”

“This was the second time Louise looked after Buddy, and yet again she did a brilliant job. She kept us updated daily so we were able to enjoy our weekend break, with confidence that Buddy was in very kind and capable hands. Thanks a million Louise! We will undoubtedly use your services again!”

“Absolutely fantastic. Was lovely to meet her beforehand and our dog instantly fell in love with her. She asks the right questions and we felt she takes this seriously. We have never left someone in our home with our dog before but there was no doubt for us. She comes across really well. Friendly and trustworthy. She kept us updated throughout and we would definitely love to ask her to help us again.... So would our Dexter!!”

We can’t thank Alannah enough for taking care of our puppy while we went in our first holiday leaving him at home. We were nervous leaving him but Alannah soon put our nerves at ease. She met us prior confirming our booking to ensure our pup was ok with her and she was good to stay with him ✨ Rex is very energetic being 8months old so we were hoping he would settle while we were away and were reassured with regular messages and photos at our request that things were smooth back home. We left Alannah emergency contacts just in case for extra piece of mind. If you need someone trustworthy, kind, and caring for your pooch I would highly recommend Alannah. Added bonus of the house being safe whilst we were away and clean and tidy when we were back! Thank you so so much! You deserve a holiday yourself now! X

Jess was amazing with Bindi and our home. Unlike others, we came home to a clean home as well a happy dog and all in order. We also asked Jess to help us out for a few extra hours because our flights were delayed and she was happy to help out with covering that extra time to feed Bindi and make sure all was ok at home before we made it back. She sent us photos and made sure we were informed and was responsive to messages and requests, so thank you so much Jess. We really appreciate it.

OMG! There are not enough positive words in the English dictionary to describe Jessica ! I have used Rovers 3 times now in total (all different sitters). First one was amazing, second left me extremely anxious and third.. well you know the saying, third times the charm!! Jessica honestly showed so much love to our tornado! He is a handful at first, where he wants your non stop attention and will bark at you. He will then kiss you a million times if he loves you. I came home just now, and it was like we weren’t away. He genuinely wasn’t fussed we were back and I was like “ok then! This is great!” I want to list the things I honestly adore about Jessica: - She gave me continuous updates on Buddy - She didn’t have to, but she walked him - She is so friendly! - You can tell she loves animals! - She isn’t just friendly to animals, she is extremely friendly to everyone else she speaks with! - Has such a positive, energetic attitude! - She left the house in such a clean state ♥️ I said to my husband I wouldn’t want to go abroad due to the last time. But Jessica honestly was so amazing that I have decided to go away later in the year and book her again ! Honestly thank you so much! I have never felt more at ease leaving Buddy before ♥️ If anyone is considering booking her, DO IT! You will honestly be so happy with her!! Your babies will be cared for so well!

Corrie was an absolute hero - we had an emergency a needed last minute cover. Corrie was super quick to respond, very friendly, polite, accommodating and willing to help at short notice. Corrie was conscious to ensure she understood Thea’s routine and how best to care for her which was very reassuring and put me at ease. I would absolutely recommend Corrie to others and we will certainly use her services in the future ourselves.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in South Tyneside choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
