Christine stayed at my home to look after Skye. She kept me updated and sent pictures. Skye really enjoyed spending time with her especially because she brought home made treats and took her for walks. Would definitely recommend and use again. Thank you Christine

About: I have a dog, an 11 year old cockapoo called Charlie who've looked after since little. I've also looked after poodles and chihuahuas for friends before. I love going on long walks and playing with Charlie and Id love to do the same with your dog too ! I'm currently a full-time student so I'll be able to walk your dog really any day of the week ! Just give me a heads up and I can be there quick as possible. I have a gated off back garden and a building only people with keys can get access into so it's a very safe and secure area. Also, when it comes to walking dogs in different areas, I'm aware constantly of different potential safety issues (such as roads). Since I've been walking dogs for so long I'm aware of all the little problems like this that might come up whilst on a walk which means that I can prevent any accidents or problems occurring.

She is truly responsible and has great skills in handling dogs! During the pre-meeting, I could already tell that she was very experienced and comfortable with dogs. ☺️ She walked our dogs and made sure they stayed happy while we were away. She is the best pet sitter! 👍

Kay gave us all the information we needed. She met early to discuss & view the house. Bella was very comfortable with her. Kay took her out for a walk & sent a photo to us . That reassured us & made us relaxed for the evening. Bella was sitting on her knee when we returned ,so calm & happy.

Gemma was the best sitter we could have hoped for! She is a lovely and caring person and was so nice with our dog, he can be awkward but she handled him superbly and managed to walk him better than we can! We would not hesitate to use her again in the future!

About: I’ve been around animals all my life, growing up with family pets - from frogs to dogs! When I left home and my family dog of 7 years, I knew I needed a furry companion, so along came Crumpet! My 2 year old Golden Retriever. Crumpet has been with me from being 12 weeks old so I am very familiar and confident with caring for young animals. My dog is my baby so I fully understand how much people love their pets—because I feel the same way about mine. My dog is truly part of my family, and that’s why I treat every pet I care for with the same love, attention, and respect I give my own I’m a full-time teacher who’s passionate about pets and available to care for yours during evenings, weekends, and school holidays. When I’m not in the classroom, I’m dedicated to giving your furry friends the love and attention they deserve When caring for someone else’s pet, I treat them as if they were my own—with love, patience, and attention to their unique needs and routines. Whether it’s playtime, cuddles, walks, or quiet companionship, I make sure every pet feels safe, happy, and loved while their family is away

I understand how important routine, patience, and consistency are — especially for puppies, nervous pets, or those needing a little extra care. I’m fully insured, DBS checked, and committed to providing a reliable and professional service. I have a flexible schedule as I run my own pet service business alongside a 0-hour theatre contract, which allows me to manage my time and prioritise pet care bookings. This means I can often accommodate a range of visit times throughout the day. Pet care is a regular part of my daily routine, and I plan my schedule carefully to ensure each pet receives reliable, consistent care. I also have my own pets, so I understand the importance of balancing time and making sure every animal gets the attention they need. I’m happy to discuss specific timings and requirements to find what works best for you and your pet. All pet sitting takes place in your home, so your pet can stay in a familiar, comfortable environment and stick to their usual routine. This is especially important for both cats and dogs, helping to reduce stress and keep them settled while you’re away. I take the time to follow your pet’s individual routine, including feeding, walks, playtime, and any specific care instructions. Whether it’s a relaxed walk for your dog or a calm, quiet visit for your cat, everything is tailored to suit their needs and personality. As a lifelong cat owner and experienced pet carer, I understand how important trust is when someone is caring for your pet and entering your home. I’m fully insured, DBS checked, and always respectful of your space. Regular updates and photos can be provided so you can feel reassured and connected while you’re away.

Paris was absolutely amazing! I was given regular updates every day, I felt really relieved knowing Monty was being looked after so well, and I’d recommend Paris’s services to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, reliable and caring. Paris came to meet Monty before the sit and really took the time to understand his routine, and my home was immaculate when I came back. It was clear Monty had the time of his life while I was away! Thank you, Paris! :) 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Hartlepool walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hartlepool choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
