About: I have over 5 years experience looking after my family dogs, Hugo and Finn, as well as looking after family friend’s dogs, cats and bunnies when they are on holiday. I absolutely adore caring for pets and would love to share my passion with you I work from home flexibly so I am available most days to care for your pets and to walk them / take them outdoors whenever they need. I live in a house with a gated garden and security is a priority for me. I am patient and caring with all furry friends, no matter their personality.
About: My family have had pets as little additions to the family since I was born, I don't remember any time when we didn't have pets in our house. I have fed them, walked them, bathed them and loved them unconditionally. Pets really are an addition to the family, they should be loved and treat like one! I am permanently working from home so your pet will never be left waiting. I will have to double check with when I would be able to pick up your little babies. I will ensure that any dogs off lead are in an enclosed area, that any treats offered from strangers whilst on a walk are "accepted" then immediately thrown away.
About: I've had dogs all my adult life a border collie till he was 18yrs old a jack Russell who was also 18yrs old. I have a jack/chowawa and I look after family and friends pets and they are happy to leave their pets with me and suggested I did it professionally as I love animals and can give them the home from home vibe.plenty of walks fresh water and cuddles .. I work for 3hours cleaning on a morning from 6am till 9am do not work Wednesdays or weekends my dog goes most places with me. I have a totally enclosed back garden and my living room door leads straight into it. I have my own extremely friendly loving jack/chowawa which gets on with other dogs. My dog is wormed/flea treated..and used to family pets and friends pet staying and he likes the presence of other friendly dogs.
About: I have a 7 year old miniature labradoodle, so am well equipped with meeting the daily needs of a dog. Equally, I have experience as a dog walker in boarding kennels, working with a range of dog breeds. I have looked after a range of family members dogs, so recognise that each dog has a unique personality and specific needs and routines to cater to :) I am a first year uni student at York University, so pet care will primarily be available on weekends where I can come away from my studies. Equally, I can offer services around term time, such as Easter, Summer and Christmas! I understand the importance of creating a comfortable space for your pet in their natural environment, so will not stray from any instructions I have been given in order to achieve this!
About: As a dedicated pet parent to both a dog and a cat, I understand the love and care our furry friends need. With years of hands-on experience, I can provide attentive, reliable pet sitting tailored to your pet’s unique needs, whether it’s playtime, cuddles, or extra patience for senior pets. I treat every pet like my own, ensuring they feel safe, happy, and loved while you’re away! Pet care naturally fits into my daily routine because im already used to feeding, walking, playing with, and caring for my own pets. Having a cat and a dog means i understand different needs, like daily walks for dogs and litter box maintenance for cats. When pet sitting i will make sure i stick to their routine, keep the home nice and tidy and clean up any accidents if needed. I am also willing to do any little jobs as instructed like watering plants etc. I will spend quality time playing with the pet. Before leaving i will ensure all doors that need to be closed are closed and that the pet is safe in the home.
“Kelly stayed overnight while we attended my daughter’s wedding, I was really scared letting a stranger stay overnight but after meeting her ,Kelly was lovely and we had no hesitation letting her stay in our home overnight to look after my fur babies. She kept us updated how to dogs were and it put me at ease, When we arrived home our dogs where happy and content like they had fun while we were away. I would recommend kelly to anyone and would definitely use her again.”

“Abbie has been brilliant with Rex - he really took a shine to her and enjoyed his time hanging out! Abbie is really friendly and great with dogs - I would definitely recommend if you need your furry friend looking after.”

Pet owners share their Rover experiences - Darlington
Good communication before our sit & also a pre-meet. Hannah arrived on time & showed great flexibility when I was delayed getting home. My dogs can be a bit slow to warm to new people they were obviously happy in Hannahs company & they were well cared for. I got daily updates & photos which were much appreciated. My house was looked after, clean & tidy on my return. Would recommend Hannah for house sits & will book her again. Thank you Hannah

Scarlett is fantastic. She was communicative, on time, prepared for the dogs and her stay, even bringing her own poop bags just in case! She was on time, and completely followed our instructions to a tee - Socks & Parker loved her! I only hope she comes back from Uni more often to have them again - thank you Scarlett you’ve been a lifesaver this week!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Darlington walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Darlington choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
