About: Reliable, friendly, and passionate about animals, I care for pets of all kinds, taking time to understand their individual needs and routines. Whether it’s walks, playtime, or companionship, I treat every pet like my own while keeping you updated for peace of mind. I do work full time but this is hybrid so I can work around boarding and working from home as needed. My place of work is only a 5 minute walk away from my house so I am able to come home during the day to let the dogs out for a leg stretch before going back to work. I work a half day on a Friday and have every weekend off too so on the weekends any short term guests get my full love and attention I have a fenced garden where my dog spends his time sunbathing where possible. There is a wooded area near my house where I take my dog to explore
“We had the pleasure of having Tim come over to look after our puppy, and we couldn't be more pleased with the experience! From the moment he arrived, Tim was incredibly friendly and approachable. He took the time to listen to all the information we shared about our puppy's routine and needs, which immediately put us at ease. Throughout the day, Tim kept in touch with us, providing regular updates and photos that reassured us our furry friend was in great hands. It was clear he genuinely cared about our puppy's well-being, and his attentiveness made a significant difference in our peace of mind while we weren’t there. . We highly recommend Tim to anyone in need of a pet sitter. His professionalism and warmth truly made the day enjoyable for both us and our little one. We will definitely be reaching out to him again in the future if he is happy to come back.”
“Sophie was amazing, using Rover for the first time & not having ever left my 2 border terriers overnight at home before was something I’d wanted to do for ages but hadn’t been able to pluck up the courage ! Sophie was so thoughtful, easing my worries about my nervous border by taking time to come & meet them before the house sit which was invaluable. On the day, her calm professional approach resulted in her building a relationship with my nervous border which I am so grateful for & is really beneficial for the future. Thank you so much Sophie I now feel relaxed about planning the next house sit & am looking forward to leaving my dogs in safe hands again”

About: The Pawfect Getaway. *Taking bookings for Christmas & New Year four legged guests. Drop me a message to enquire re availability and costs* I have many years of hands-on experience caring for dogs as part of my own family. Over the years I’ve shared my home with working Cocker Spaniels, Springer Spaniels and Labradors, so I’m very familiar with both energetic breeds and those who enjoy a steadier pace as they mature. Living with dogs has taught me the importance of consistency, patience and understanding each dog’s individual personality. I’m comfortable with daily walks, feeding routines, enrichment, and quiet companionship — not just exercise, but genuine care and presence. I also have experience administering medication, including tablets and routine treatments, and I’m happy to follow clear instructions to ensure your dog’s health needs are met properly and calmly. What Sets Me Apart Your dog would be cared for in my own home, not a kennel or busy multi-dog environment. I offer one-to-one care, meaning your dog gets my full attention and is treated as an individual, not part of a crowd. I take time to understand and maintain your dog’s existing routines — feeding times, walks, sleeping arrangements and any special habits — so they feel settled and secure while you’re away. Familiar routines make a world of difference to a dog’s happiness and wellbeing. I provide a quiet, relaxed, home-from-home environment, ideal for dogs who prefer calm company, personal attention, and a predictable day. My aim is always that your dog feels safe, comfortable and genuinely cared for — and that you can enjoy your time away with real peace of mind. Pet care fits very comfortably into my daily routine as I am retired and at home all day. This means your dog will have constant companionship and supervision, rather than being left alone for long periods. I’m able to structure my day around your dog’s usual routine, including regular walks, feeding times, medication if required, play, and plenty of rest. Being at home allows me to give unhurried, one-to-one attention, respond quickly to your dog’s needs, and provide reassurance throughout the day. Whether your dog enjoys activity or prefers a quieter pace, I can adapt the day to suit them while keeping things familiar and calm. My aim is to offer a consistent, home-from-home experience, so your dog feels settled, secure, and genuinely cared for while you’re away. I care for pets in a calm, structured, and attentive way, always treating them as individuals. When caring for dogs in my own home, I provide a safe, relaxed, home-from-home environment with plenty of supervision and one-to-one attention. I follow each owner’s instructions carefully, maintaining established routines for feeding, walks, rest, play, and medication, as consistency is key to helping dogs feel secure. I take time to understand a pet’s personality, preferences, and any health or behavioural needs. I’m experienced with energetic breeds as well as dogs who prefer a quieter pace, and I adapt care accordingly. I ensure dogs are never left for long periods and always have companionship, comfort, and reassurance. When caring for pets in my home, I respect and follow the same careful approach — sticking closely to the pet’s normal routine, keeping their environment familiar, and providing calm, dependable care. My priority in every situation is the pet’s wellbeing, comfort, and safety, and giving owners genuine peace of mind while they’re away.
“Janette is an exceptional house guest and dog sitter. Special because of her humanity, her quick grasp of the owners' anxieties. She was a reassuring presence during my absence, her communication was top notch. Photos and text updates were both helpful and reassuring. Janette had a sick dog to care for whilst I was away. Her sensible and calmness observations, advice and checking in with me was both exceptional and professional. She clearly bonded with my dog who was assured of her constant attention. Her care for my dog was outstanding and as a careful curator of my home, the need to keep it clean and tidy, her cleaning prior to her departure was excellent. Janette is a home dog sitter sent from what must be a very small pool of sitters that you recommend. I would highly recommend her as an excellent, trustworthy and very kind, flexible and helpful people I personally have ever encountered in this role. FIVE STARS ÷ Dr Mark Jones. Durham, UK”

About: Hi, I'm a huge animal lover offering pet-sitting services! Ive grown up around dogs since I was a baby and I've got experience looking after family dogs (including puppies!) for up to a week. I've also cared for neighbors' cats and even friends' horses. Since I can't have my own pets in my flat, I'd love to help care for yours. I’m reliable, responsible, and will treat your furry, scaly, or feathery friends like my own. I'm currently a student working part-time, so I have plenty of time to dedicate to your pets on my days off. I'm available any day of the week apart from Friday and my university schedule is 9-12 on Wednesdays. Unfortunately, I can't look after your pets in my own flat as the landlord doesn't allow pets. However, I'm more than happy to travel to you and look after your pets in their own homes.
“A repeat sit by Amanda, she's my first choice for any sits for my 2 dogs, i know they are confortable with Amanda & well cared for. Always good communication & pictures throughout the sit, my 2 dogs are always really happy to see her even Flossie who can be a bit choosey about who she likes.”

“Emily was amazing from start to finish, she looked after Dora for a week at our house whilst we were in Spain 🇪🇸. I was very anxious about leaving Dora with someone new however, Emily kept me up to date with pictures and updates every day. Emily took Dora on lots of new and varied walks which was great and I’m sure Dora enjoyed them! The house was left immaculate when we returned which was a lovely bonus when returning from holiday. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Emily and will be using her for any future holidays and pet sitting requirements. Thank you very much Emily. 🥰”

“Madison was incredible! Left the house spotless and really clean, even though it was a very wet few days, the wet dog could have made everything soaking. Most importantly my dog absolutely loved her and had a brilliant time. Would highly highly recommend her to anyone needing a dog sitter!”

About: I’ve had dogs within the family looking after them and giving them the care they need. I’ve looked after active, laidback, elderly and young dogs. The services I offer are 1:1 & group walking (if in the same area and the dogs get a long with each other) the walks are tailored to each dog and I sometimes take them in the car to go explore new areas for them to sniff. I’ve worked in kennels and a dog daycare in the past so have good experience with different dogs. I’m available most of the days if there isn’t another pet sit booked but this can be discussed further when bookings come up, the dogs are tend to be left for 4 - 5hrs at a time and then I stay with them for an hour before I go back out again. My schedule varies week to week depending on what I’ve got booked in that day. I am happy to fit in your dog in the surrounding area and give them the best care. Whilst pet sitting in your own home I ensure that the dogs routine is followed. I will take in your post and on my departure I’ll ensure that you home is left clean and tidy.
“Joe arrived on time. Within a few minutes of sitting down, he had my very nervous dog, Jett, eating treats from his hand, and by the time I left, she was cuddled up to him. Very caring, I felt totally confident I could enjoy my evening out knowing Jett was in safe hands. Highly recommended.”

“Kelly stayed overnight while we attended my daughter’s wedding, I was really scared letting a stranger stay overnight but after meeting her ,Kelly was lovely and we had no hesitation letting her stay in our home overnight to look after my fur babies. She kept us updated how to dogs were and it put me at ease, When we arrived home our dogs where happy and content like they had fun while we were away. I would recommend kelly to anyone and would definitely use her again.”

“Olivia was fantastic with our two boys. She took the time to come and visit them before the booking and asked loads of questions to make sure she was able to care for them the best she could. Olivia stayed in contact throughout giving us updates on the boys. She ensured both boys went on walks even though one of them is tricky on a lead and can be reactive. They both seemed to love her partner. I would definitely book again!”

Katie has been an absolute treasure. So glad we found her after several cancellations, definitely meant to be! Our gang of 3 were so happy with her. They took to her instantly, even our little nervy Maeve. The care she gave them was excellent, her attention to detail and routines above and beyond. She also treated them as individuals, which I think they loved. Her daily photos and updates meant I was the most relaxed I've ever been on a holiday! We'll definitely book her again and I can't thank her enough! Top dog sitter.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Richmondshire walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Richmondshire choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
