“Becky looked after my two Siamese cats whilst I was away for a week, they are shy with strangers but she did a fantastic job! Both cats were very relaxed when I got home and I'm not sure they even missed me!! Will definitely ask Becky to cat sit next time I'm away and have no hesitation in recommending her. Thanks Becky!! 😃”

“So glad I discovered Kelly. My cat, Barry, and I instantly bonded with her. I got some lovely and amusing updates, with some great photos. I think Barry took a real shine to her & was subsequently quite disappointed to see me walk through the door upon my return. Kelly was happy to stay over her allotted time to make sure Barry had everything he needed. Communication has been great. Really happy with the service provided. I have already rebooked Kelly & have no issues in using her again if required in the future…..I know Barry will be delighted 😀”

“Needed last minute day care for my cocker Henry, Elizabeth completely put me at ease, she stayed in constant communication with me, had a lovely time playing with Henry who was happy and calm when I got back from my long day. Would highly recommend.”

“Louise is absolutely fantastic and I couldn’t recommend her enough. She is very reliable, has great communication, and always keeps me updated with regular messages and photos from every visit. My 6 month old puppy absolutely loves her, which gives me so much peace of mind when I’m away. It’s clear she genuinely cares about the dogs she looks after and treats them like her own. Thank you so much, Louise!”

About: We are a young couple who both currently work in the veterinary industry. I am currently a veterinary care assistant & receptionist for the last 4 years in Middlesbrough. I have always grown up around dogs and cats and currently have 2 dogs and 2 cats of my own. Alex is a qualified veterinary surgeon also working in the Middlesbrough area. He works with dogs, cats and exotic pets. He has also grown up with dogs, cats and reptiles but currently has 2 pet snakes. We are both very experienced with all types of pets, including large breeds, small breeds, young pets, geriatric pets, anxious pets as well as giving all medication types such as oral, topical and injectable medications. We are both busy professionals that typically work during the week days. But we both have Thursdays weekends and most evenings free to look after your pets. With enough notice we are able to move our schedule around to fit around your pets needs. We both care for animals for a living, so we are both extremely knowledgable about pet care and welfare. Animal and human safety and welfare is our top priority. We recognise that each pet has individual needs and requirements and we will always do our best to achieve this. This may include strict exercise routines, feeding specific diets and administering medications. Unfortunately we are not currently able to provide pet sitting at our home.

About: I’m very active and love walking. My fiance is also on rover so it’s something we both enjoy doing. My Dalmatian is a big softy and has never had any issues with any dogs or cats. As long as they are friendly with her she would always enjoy a play mate. One of us are always in the house and we are happy to cater for any special requests. We can assist with any training requirements. I can do hybrid working when required. I don’t work weekends at all. My fiance is also at home during the day so there is always somebody in the house. Callie gets a minimum of 2 walks a day. Happy to cater for any special requests I have a fenced garden and a backyard. I’ve got a very friendly Dalmatian that loves play dates. Wouldn’t ever need to leave the dog by themselves. Plenty of photos and videos with regular updates
“Guste has been amazing. I went with the right person to check in on my two cats when I went away. She is very friendly, followed instructions perfectly, she went above and beyond and even hoovered and cleaned up more than I would ever ask her to. My painfully shy cat let Guste stroke her, she normally hides and only comes out after a sitter has left. Guste’s reports were lovely and detailed. I felt reassured that my girls have been well looked after. I could not recommend highly enough, I will happily book her again. Thank you so much!!”

About: I have taken care of dogs varying in age from puppies to senior dogs. I have trained puppies to walk on lead correctly without pulling. I am a professional dog walker so pet care fits very easily into my routine as it’s what I’m used to doing 24/7. About: I grew up in the countryside in a family with dogs and cats and also chickens, ducks, sheep and even a pony, so I am very comfortable around all animals and have had both dogs and cats in my own family over the years. I do love both and do understand and enjoy the difference between them. I believe they all have their own identity and personality and it is up to us to encourage them to feel they can express themselves in a fulfilling way both for themselves and their owners and carers to enjoy. I have taken care of dogs and cats from puppies and kittens, through maternity and on to end of life care so have wide experience of caring for them through all stages of their life, from early exercise, socialising and training to simply spending quiet time together providing close comfort and companionship. I have a large Victorian terraced house with plenty of space and a safe walled rear courtyard for fresh air. I will only board one pet at a time so your pet will get all the attention and space he or she needs.

“Rosie looked after my two cats while I was away for two weeks. I received daily photos and updates which was really reassuring! She was kind and professional from the start and I felt at ease knowing they were being cared for by Rosie. Highly recommended!”

“Lauren has been such a find! Having never used pet services before, it’s a bit worrying handing your keys over to a stranger and having them look after your pets. Lauren made me feel at ease from the start. I’ve had photo and text updates on the status of my pet, which has been reassuring. She has also been very accommodating. My life, at present, is a little chaotic and she has been very patient with me, changing dates, last minute requests etc. I’m really delighted with the service she has offered and will definitely use her again in the future.”

Cat owners share their Rover experiences - Darlington
Katie was absolutely amazing, and I'll definitely be recommending her and booking her again. Her communication was excellent throughout. She provided detailed Rover cards and always kept me up to date with any changes or concerns. She took fantastic care of Cleo and made me feel completely comfortable leaving her in Katie's care. Even though Cleo is a very shy cat, Katie was patient enough to gain her trust, and within a few days she was able to pet and play with her. When Cleo managed to get out through an upstairs window, Katie handled the situation calmly and kept me updated throughout. She followed the plan we agreed to make sure Cleo could get back inside safely, and I really appreciated how reassuring and proactive she was. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Katie to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and communicative pet sitter.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
