Lyndsey is nothing short of incredible. She didn’t just look after Dottie, she treated her like her own and cared for her exactly the way I would. She stayed at my house for around a week and took the time to truly listen to all of Dottie’s very specific, very her ways, handling everything with so much patience, love, and understanding. Dottie doesn’t like anyone, so coming home to find her genuinely bonded with Lyndsey, relaxed, happy, and completely herself honestly blew my mind. As an added bonus, Lyndsey left the house cleaner than when I left it, which just says everything about the level of care she gives. I trust her completely and will be using her loads this year, now that I know Dottie is in the absolute best hands possible. 🐾💖

Zoe was absolutely incredible as our house and cat sitter. She sent us so many videos and updates every single day, which we really appreciated- it made such a difference while we were away. She treated our home like her own, and we came back to it absolutely sparkling. It gave us total peace of mind knowing everything was being so well looked after. Most importantly, Percy and Merlin clearly adored her. You could tell from the videos that she’d taken the time to play with them, give them lots of cuddles, and really build a bond... they’d genuinely made a new friend! Zoe is such a warm, lovely person who truly cares. We couldn’t recommend her more - she’s the best person you could trust with your fur babies, and she made our holiday completely worry-free.

About: Hello. I'm Dan, 34 years old and a lot of free time giving me the opportunity to help you and your pets. I'm an avid animal lover of all types and would welcome all invitations to walk, watch over and treat your best friends as mine too. I like to stay active, keeping a regular walking distance everyday and would happily welcome company on those walks. Whether that be short routes around the neighbourhood or a much longer trek in the hopes of tiring them out by the end of the day. I am a licenced first aider with lots of experience fostering dogs and cats in the past with severe medical conditions and other special requirements. In those situations I'm well trained to remain calm under pressure and skilled at assisting your pet in times of need.

About: I've cared for a variety of pets throughout my life, from dogs and cats to horses and livestock! My aim is for all pets to feel as loved as possible. I work part time from home, as well as helping on the family farm. I have lots of availability for dog walking and pet sitting. Currently only offering house sitting and dog walks while work is being done on my house. However, current clients will have priority for when pet sitting in my own home becomes available. I have a gentle but playful border collie who can join playful pups for walks, or single household walks are available too!

Kay gave us all the information we needed. She met early to discuss & view the house. Bella was very comfortable with her. Kay took her out for a walk & sent a photo to us . That reassured us & made us relaxed for the evening. Bella was sitting on her knee when we returned ,so calm & happy.

About: Hello 👋 I am Ruth, 34 and have a 9 year old mix Pip. She is a rescue and through endless love and training she has blossomed over the years from a nervous, shy, quivering pup into a friendly, confident and loving dog. She is in excellent health for her age and loves nothing more than to zoom around a field! I have trained 3 of my own dogs and believe in a loving, positive approach with sensible boundaries. I am extremely active so your dog will get plenty of exercise! I have experience with dogs from 12 weeks to senior. I am self-employed so have plenty of time to give pets the time and attention they deserve. I am very flexible and can work around you and your furry friend as I can't work from anywhere at any time. I have my lovely Pip to keep your pet company and lots of play and socialisation. I can walk, spend time with or care for your pet in your home. I am clean, tidy, respectful and trustworthy. I am keen on animal health and feeding a good diet and plenty of exercise, with constant access to water and regular toilet breaks.

Andrew was great, he looked after our dogs in our home for a week. The dogs really took to him quickly and enjoyed having him around. One of dogs took poorly and needed veterinary attention quickly. Andrew ensured this happened and kept us up to date with his progress in the days that followed which was really reassuring. We would definitely recommend Andrew to anyone wanting their dogs cared for in their own home.

Jessie settled well with Jessica and the two of them seemed to have a great time. We came home to a very happy dog - she obviously hadn't missed us very much. Jessica was brilliant - the house was spotless. As if no-one had been here. We would definitely use Jessica and Rover again. Thank you

I don’t even know where to begin with this review for Jane and Lee. They were just brilliant from start to finish. They were so friendly and welcoming upon meeting them, and it was clear how much they loved dogs- bonding with our three straight away! As soon as we met them I knew we’d made the right decision in picking Jane and Lee to stay in our home to look after the dogs. Throughout our holiday they stayed in touch - sending messages and photos about how the dogs were, walks they’d been on, funny sleeping positions they’d got themselves into and much more. It was so clear to see how happy, safe and loved all of our dogs felt with Jane and Lee. It was the first time we had ever left our puppy, and after she built a special relationship with Lee our mind was instantly at ease that she would be fine without us for a week. They also met the needs of each dog perfectly, taking the younger two on longer walks than our older boy - but getting him out slowly and safely too. Jane and Lee left the house absolutely spotless, tidying up after themselves and the dogs before we returned home. It made it much easier for us to relax knowing what a great time the dogs were having with Jane and Lee at home. We will 100% be using Jane and Lee again in the future if we ever need our dogs looking after. We honestly can’t thank you both enough!

Kelly stayed overnight while we attended my daughter’s wedding, I was really scared letting a stranger stay overnight but after meeting her ,Kelly was lovely and we had no hesitation letting her stay in our home overnight to look after my fur babies. She kept us updated how to dogs were and it put me at ease, When we arrived home our dogs where happy and content like they had fun while we were away. I would recommend kelly to anyone and would definitely use her again.

As soon as we met Lee we felt very comfortable with him. Our two dogs were content and knew from what he told us he worked out their little traits. Pour dogs were happy with him and we will definitely use again. House was just as we left it (if not better). Thank you xxx

FAQs for House Sitting - Cleveland

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 179 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Cleveland. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Cleveland walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cleveland choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
