About: Hi! I’m Sophia — a dedicated cat lover with a background in education and years of experience working in people’s homes through my role as a home tutor. I’m fully comfortable being in and out of private homes, always respecting your space and routines while providing attentive, loving care for your feline family members. I’ve previously owned a cat myself, so I understand just how unique, quirky, and sensitive our furry companions can be. Whether it’s a cuddle session, a play break, or just quiet company, I tailor my approach to suit your cat’s individual needs and personality. You can trust that I’ll treat your home and your pet with the same care and respect I would my own — reliable, thoughtful, and always with your cat’s comfort as my priority.
“We have a 15-year-old Jack Russell called Bella who suffers from separation anxiety and has a number of health issues. Since her brother passed away six years ago, we've never left her with anyone. After booking a concert in Scarborough for my partner, I looked on Rover to see if I could find someone suitable. Eleanor immediately stood out because of her fantastic reviews. We arranged to meet Eleanor near the beach to see if she and Bella were a good fit for each other, and we couldn't have been happier. If anyone was born to care for animals, it's Eleanor. She made such a fuss of Bella, took the time to ask thoughtful questions about how to care for her, and instantly put us at ease. Knowing how anxious we were about leaving Bella for the first time, Eleanor kept in touch throughout, which meant so much to us. When we came back, we were amazed to find Bella fast asleep, completely relaxed, right next to Eleanor. That alone told us everything we needed to know. My partner and I wouldn't hesitate to book Eleanor again the next time we're in Scarborough, and we wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for someone kind, caring, and trustworthy to look after their pet. Thank you, Eleanor, for everything. You made what felt impossible for us feel completely natural.”

“Emma was so attentive to Vinny’s needs and I had no concerns about leaving them to take care of Vinny and his complex needs. I received updates including photos during their stay and it was a pleasure to host them in order to look after my boy and they are already booked in for another stay. Highly recommend 🤩⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🤩”

“We asked Lillian to dog-sit our BCs, Billy and Syd whilst we went to a concert at Scarborough Open Air Theatre. Lillian is a proper pooch-handling pro, who organised everything with us so we could enjoy our evening worry-free. Highly recommended, 5-stars!”

About: Hi, I’m Rob! 🐾 I’m an experienced dog walker and sitter who genuinely loves being around dogs. I’ve cared for dogs of all sizes, breeds and ages, including walking up to 6 dogs at once. I work from home, so I’m able to give visiting dogs plenty of attention throughout the day, with lots of time for walks, play and company. I live in a quiet area with fields, trails and the beach just a short walk away, plus I have a secure fenced garden. I also have two older, friendly dogs of my own. They can be kept separate if your dog prefers their own space. High-energy dog? No problem. I’m happy to provide longer walks and exercise, including running if appropriate. Your dog will be treated like one of my own. ❤️ Before booking, I like to know about your dog’s energy level, walking needs, temperament, diet and anything else that helps me give them the best possible care. I currently have a flexible, work from home job so im able to provide 24hr attention to any dog visiting the house. As well as plenty of free time for walks and playtime I have a fenced garden and live near plenty of open fields, trails as well as a 5 minute walk to the beach. 2 older dogs with good temperaments also in the house, but can be separated if necessary

“Jessie settled well with Jessica and the two of them seemed to have a great time. We came home to a very happy dog - she obviously hadn't missed us very much. Jessica was brilliant - the house was spotless. As if no-one had been here. We would definitely use Jessica and Rover again. Thank you”

“Zach put in a lot of time and effort to get to know Baloo before having him for a whole day. Can't thank Zach enough as he eased my worries about leaving Baloo for the day with a sitter. Baloo got on very well with Zach too which helped a lot!”

About: I've cared for a variety of pets throughout my life, from dogs and cats to horses and livestock! My aim is for all pets to feel as loved as possible. I work part time from home, as well as helping on the family farm. I have lots of availability for dog walking and pet sitting. Currently only offering house sitting and dog walks while work is being done on my house. However, current clients will have priority for when pet sitting in my own home becomes available. I have a gentle but playful border collie who can join playful pups for walks, or single household walks are available too!
About: Experienced in having my own friend, a retired police dog (Springer SpanielxBoarder Collie) until his age of 15 for years. My family fosters rescue dogs from Romania, Kizzie (the one pictured) stayed with us for 3 months going from extremely scared of people to the most loving playful dog. Loving the outdoors myself, sharing it with dogs is something I really enjoy. Since traveling for work the last couple of years I was unable to have my own again. Wayne responded quickly to messages and answered my questions…the booking process was therefore smooth. He answered my message on the day to confirm all was good. He then told me he was on his way. Wayne arrived on time and was pleasant and bonded instantly with our dog. We were sent a message and photo during the evening to show our dog chilling. We have an over-attached dog and were visiting Scarborough for a concert staying in an Airbnb. Wayne was perfect for our peace of mind knowing that our dog wouldn’t be barking (or crying).

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Scarborough walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Scarborough choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
