“We left our 7 year old Cockapoo with Leanne and David for 3 hours whilst we took the children to Alpamare water park, and he played with their dog, and we picked up a very happy dog. Can't thank you both enough and we are more than happy to fully recommend”

“Eleanor is fantastic with my dog Chester, it’s no trouble for her to go that extra mile for him as he needs extra care with having separation anxiety. Chester is always happy to go to Eleanor and I would highly recommend her to anyone. Thank you for taking great care of Chester 😀🐶🐾”

“Mica was very chilled and we felt at ease after meeting her. Luna warmed to Mica straight away. The house was clean, tidy and safe. We would definitely use Mica again. Luna returned happy and playful. Grest over night stay. Mica is close by to the Scarborough open air theatre , as we were attending a gig there that evening the location was perfect.”

“Went to a caravan for 3 nights and had to get a dog sitter for my wee dog Mia as she just wouldn’t settle. Helen was absolutely amazing I can’t express that enough! She answered straight away when I booked, she sent me pictures of Mia to let me know how she was getting on and kept in touch with texts to keep me updated. She has her own three dogs and you can tell they’re all pampered pooches 🥰 if anyone is looking for a dog sitter in this area I would 100% recommend Helen and will definitely be back myself 🙈❤️”

“Absolutely wonderful. Willow was extremely well taken care of. Walked and fed as required. She had so much fun she was so tired when we got home she fell asleep and started snoring :) Would highly recommend and will use Chloe again!”

About: We’ve had dogs all our lives and currently care for two of our own, so we’re confident handling all ages, sizes, and personalities. We also foster dogs until they find their forever homes, which has given us hands‑on experience with nervous dogs, unsure rescues, and dogs with behavioural challenges. Through fostering and personal experience, we’ve become comfortable administering medications, building trust with anxious dogs, and creating calm, safe routines for pets who need extra patience and reassurance. Pet care fits easily into our routine because I work from home and my partner works part‑time, so there is always someone at home. This means dogs are never left alone, get plenty of attention, and can enjoy regular playtime, and a calm, consistent environment throughout the day. We provide a calm, dog‑friendly home where pets are always supervised as one of us is always in. We keep routines consistent, follow all feeding and medication instructions carefully, and make sure walks and garden time are safe and secure. Whether in our home or yours, we focus on creating a relaxed, trustworthy environment where every dog feels comfortable.
“Chris was excellent with my dogs, both have specific needs, willow is old and needs tablets for her arthritis and George is young, big and quite clumsy, he's also a bit of artist. Chris managed both their needs well and kept me updated with pictures. Will definitely use him again”

“Our Beagle Ralph had a great first stay with Lynda & Frank. He seemed so happy with them & had plenty of walks and lots of fun! Lynda sent us regular pictures and updates so we were assured he was having a lovely time. He is looking forward to his next stay now. Thank you both!”

“Karrie and Kevin were absolutely incredible with our 2. Being a Belgian Shepherd, Ava isn’t quick to warm with new people, and yet she was soon easing herself gently into her loving temporary home alongside her Golden Retriever sister Pink and her adopted sister, German Shepherd Willow, owned by Karrie and Kevin. I would not hesitate to book again.”

“Domino had a fantastic experience staying with Laura and her family. Laura kept us updated on Domino, with photos and he looked so relaxed and contented, it made our time away more enjoyable. Domino enjoyed walks with Laura's dogs in perfect surroundings and quickly became part of the family. We look forward to using Laura again. Thank you Laura”

“It was the first time for me to leave Monty for this time as he’s only 15 months old and a very precious family member. Monty met Zach and did a getting to you know session and then spent 5 days and nights with Zach - Monty has clearly had a “holiday” I arrived home and he was full of beans and had clearly been very well cared for.. thank you Zach. You will be top of my contacts for any future doggy daycare/sleepover needs.. I can’t thank you enough ..”

“Catherine was absolutely marvellous, I could not have asked for anyone better to look after my dog. He was thoroughly spoilt, and I knew that at Catherine’s he was home from home. I had regular updates and would not hesitate recommending and using Catherine again. Thanks Catherine, you are amazing and helped me out no end!”

“Avril, thank you so much for taking very good care of Rocky. He’s now fast asleep now we’re home, so he’s clearly been well looked after and walked well. As he’s worn out. Bless him. I’d definitely recommend you, and will be in touch soon. Thank you so very much. Love from Rocky and I. Xx 😁🐶🐕💐”

“I couldn't be happier with the care and attention that Santa provided to my dog during her three-day stay. From the moment I dropped off my dog, I knew she was in good hands. Santa has a warm and welcoming home that immediately put my dog at ease. She took the time to understand my dog's routine, preferences, and any special needs she had. It was clear that she genuinely cared about my dog's well-being. Throughout the stay, Santa provided regular updates and photos, which gave me great peace of mind. It was evident that my dog was having a wonderful time and receiving plenty of love and attention. I could tell that Santa went above and beyond to make my dog feel comfortable and loved. My dog came back home happy, healthy, and tired from all the fun she had.”

Molly had a really lovely time with Leanne, who looked after her beautifully. She had lots of attention, friends to play with, walks, and even ‘find the biscuits’ games to keep her interested in her food. Leanne kept me updated with lovely photos and videos. I highly recommend her for boarding. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Mica was very chilled and we felt at ease after meeting her. Luna warmed to Mica straight away. The house was clean, tidy and safe. We would definitely use Mica again. Luna returned happy and playful. Grest over night stay. Mica is close by to the Scarborough open air theatre , as we were attending a gig there that evening the location was perfect.

Eleanor looked after my Frenchie Suki for the first time. The booking went smoothly with prompt replies. Eleanor is a delight and obviously loves dogs. There were a few instructions from me on Suki s care which Eleanor took all in her stride which gave me reassurance. Suki was loved and well looked after so I would highly recommend Eleanor. I will be booking again!!

Molly is a bit of a stress head when she knows we are packing stuff up to go away, as she knows she will be staying somewhere else. She has returned from Kayleigh's though a happy dog. A lovely dog friendly house where I feel sure she will have made herself at home. Looking forward to her going again soon.

Very friendly service, extremely happy with everything, wayne took very good care of our blue, kept us constantly updated with videos/pictures, replies were prompt and he also was very understanding when we were running late for pick up! Would definitely recommend! Will definitely will be using waynes services again 😊

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Yorkshire and the Humber may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
