We booked on Rover as our usual sitter was away, I was apprehensive as they hadn’t been left with people we didn’t know. Leanne and Daniel are BIG dog lovers, after booking we did a meet and great, Mabel and Baxter were relaxed and happy as soon as they arrived at their house which left us feeling so much better about leaving them. We were away for 10 days and got daily updates, photos and videos of their holiday adventures. We would recommend Leanne and Daniel to anyone who needs a dog sitter, they were very well looked after and happy.

Raymond and Jo looked after my frenchie Suki for just over two weeks. From the beginning their communication was prompt. I was anxious about leaving Suki but Ray and Jo completely put my mind at rest. They have heaps of experience and obviously cherish dogs. I received regular updates and photos and didn't worry at all. Ray and Jo are such a special couple and Suki was really well looked after with that extra love. I would highly recommend them.

Eleanor had Thanos for 2 nights while I was away at a festival. She clearly looked after him well as he was in great spirits when I picked him up. I got updates about everything important, she administered his meds as instructed, sent me cute pictures after play time etc. Really couldn't recommend enough!

About: Hi, I’m Rob! 🐾 I’m an experienced dog walker and sitter who genuinely loves being around dogs. I’ve cared for dogs of all sizes, breeds and ages, including walking up to 6 dogs at once. I work from home, so I’m able to give visiting dogs plenty of attention throughout the day, with lots of time for walks, play and company. I live in a quiet area with fields, trails and the beach just a short walk away, plus I have a secure fenced garden. I also have two older, friendly dogs of my own. They can be kept separate if your dog prefers their own space. High-energy dog? No problem. I’m happy to provide longer walks and exercise, including running if appropriate. Your dog will be treated like one of my own. ❤️ Before booking, I like to know about your dog’s energy level, walking needs, temperament, diet and anything else that helps me give them the best possible care. I currently have a flexible, work from home job so im able to provide 24hr attention to any dog visiting the house. As well as plenty of free time for walks and playtime I have a fenced garden and live near plenty of open fields, trails as well as a 5 minute walk to the beach. 2 older dogs with good temperaments also in the house, but can be separated if necessary

Mica was very chilled and we felt at ease after meeting her. Luna warmed to Mica straight away. The house was clean, tidy and safe. We would definitely use Mica again. Luna returned happy and playful. Grest over night stay. Mica is close by to the Scarborough open air theatre , as we were attending a gig there that evening the location was perfect.

Went to a caravan for 3 nights and had to get a dog sitter for my wee dog Mia as she just wouldn’t settle. Helen was absolutely amazing I can’t express that enough! She answered straight away when I booked, she sent me pictures of Mia to let me know how she was getting on and kept in touch with texts to keep me updated. She has her own three dogs and you can tell they’re all pampered pooches 🥰 if anyone is looking for a dog sitter in this area I would 100% recommend Helen and will definitely be back myself 🙈❤️

We could not be happier with the care Mabel received from Kevin & Caroline! After a great initial meet and greet, we booked her in for a 4-night stay. Mabel loved her time with her new doggy friends - Benji & Dusty. It was immediately obvious how much Kevin & Caroline love and care for animals—Mabel was treated just like one of the family from the moment she arrived. Receiving regular photo updates gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. Mabel came home happy, settled, and well-cared for. We’ll definitely be booking again in the future if we need a place for Mabel to stay. Highly recommend!

It was the first time for me to leave Monty for this time as he’s only 15 months old and a very precious family member. Monty met Zach and did a getting to you know session and then spent 5 days and nights with Zach - Monty has clearly had a “holiday” I arrived home and he was full of beans and had clearly been very well cared for.. thank you Zach. You will be top of my contacts for any future doggy daycare/sleepover needs.. I can’t thank you enough ..

Leanne, Daniel and Nala have been wonderful from start to finish. Our dogs have come happy and tired out from all the runs in the big garden. It was so lovely to get updates and photos whilst we were away, it was very reassuring. We will definitely use your services again, thank you so much.

Eleanor looked after our dog Milo overnight so we could go to an event nearby. She is located minutes away from Scarborough open air theatre so perfect if you need dog care to go and see something there. She was super accommodating and quick to respond, very friendly and Milo felt at ease with her straight away which is always reassuring because he can sometimes be anxious around new people. She clearly loves dogs and even offered to keep him an extra hour or two so we could have a day out the following day! When we came to collect him he had already had 2 walks and was very at home with Eleanor. Really happy with the care she gave Milo and he had a lovely time staying with her- would highly recommend her to anyone looking for dog sitting in Scarborough, thank you Eleanor for your kindness to our boy 💚

Molly is a bit of a stress head when she knows we are packing stuff up to go away, as she knows she will be staying somewhere else. She has returned from Kayleigh's though a happy dog. A lovely dog friendly house where I feel sure she will have made herself at home. Looking forward to her going again soon.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in Yorkshire and the Humber may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
