“Adam has been a brilliant sitter for Bentley from 14th March for a week. Was really not sure if I could leave Bentley with anyone as he is quite an anxious dog. However, Adam provides a calm & obviously happy environment for his guests. Regular updates, photos & videos really helped me to feel relaxed while away & Bentley seemed to make himself at home , looking chilled & relaxed. Big thank you to Adam & would love to be able to use his service again.”

“Hayley is a nice, sensible and accommodating person. Hayley communicated effectively and promptly, and sent photos. Chael was very well cared for and we hope Hayley will take Chael the next time and every time we need a home-from-home for Chael in the future, and one cannot be more complimentary than that! Thank you hay”

“Bruce had an absolute amazing stay with Millie, she ensured all his needs were met and he was look after and cared for. Millie ensured bruce was settled and at ease prior to booking by offering a meet and greet session at her home. Bruce loved his stay with you and had definitely made a new best friends. Highly recommend and will definitely book again . Thank you so much for taking care of him for us. 😀”

“Julie and her family took wonderful care of Conkers. Before he stayed we did a meet and greet where Julie really took the time to ensure she knew all about Conkers and his needs. I received daily updates of him looking happy and comfortable and he was well tired out and relaxed when I picked him up. I would absolutely book in with Julie again.”

“We are so happy we chose Anitha to look after Yumi for us for 5days. We have never left her before, and wanted her to stay in a loving home. Anitha and Raj certainly provided that, along with thier 2 fluffy boys oreo and teddy 🥰. They provided regular updates with photos and videos, wich was very reassuring for us. Yumi was having so much fun, we stopped worry about if she was OK, and instead we wondered if we would get her home 🤣. We can't thank them enough and we will definitely be using Anitha again for any future trips. And possible play dates.”

“Thank you to Justine for taking the best care of Riley today! He made himself at home as soon as he walked through the door so I knew he felt comfortable and safe. We arranged a meet and greet a few weeks ago and from then I knew I made the right choice choosing Justine and Matt to care for Riley, I really do appreciate your time today and apologies for such an early start! Will definitely recommend you both and look forward to booking Riley in with you again soon. Thank you also for the picture updates they really do put your mind at ease. You both have the highest recommendation from us xx”

About: I grew up with a cocker spaniel and in my twenties owned two beagles so have no problem with hyper active dogs. Over the last few years I have looked after a bijon frise, a daschund, two labradoodles, a golden retriever, a cockapoo and a cavapoo. Some of these have been at their own home and some at my own home. I'm happy for either circumstance as it is wherever the pet or owner would like the pet to be. I work full time so Mondays and Fridays will be me working from home or the clients home but free all weekend. I can do other days upon negotiation. Sundays I will be busy for 2-3 hours in the morning but can still do the morning feed and walks. I do not have a garden but do have a large field 100 yards from the house. I will always keep the pet on the lead. I try to keep the routine laid out by the owner where possible i.e. nap times, feeding, walking, how they sleep at night etc
“Pepper has had such a wonderful weekend with Abbey and her lovely little dogs! I’ve really enjoyed the updates and Pepper is happy and healthy. She’s been amazing thank you so much for taking such good care of her. I will be booking with you again next time we need her looking after 🙂🙂”

“Bea had a great experience with Luke, she was well provided for with plenty of space. Dog bed in each room, garden to play in etc. very loving and considerate for the dogs needs. Highly recommended!”

“It was our first time leaving our 8 year old dog Luna with a stranger but Kirsty and her family made us (and the dog!) feel so much at home. From the minute we booked and arranged a meet up prior to her stay, to the second her stay was over, Kirsty was updating us lots with plenty of pictures and videos, which reassured us massively. We can’t thank them enough - and I didn’t think Luna wanted to leave! We will definitely be booking again when needed 😀🐾”

“Great stay with Sara. Sara always provides a very calm environment and always keeps us up to date with pictures and messages. Chas Clearly loves being there and can't wait to return.”

“It was such a great peace of mind to leave Monty with Leah, she gave regular updates and I knew he was happy and well looked after my whole trip. I will be hoping Leah is available if we need to go away without him again. Thank you!”

“Helena was absolutely amazing with our very nervous dog, so kind and patient with him. Helena listened carefully to what he likes and needs and made his stay very stress free Great communication with lots of pictures sent too which really helped me with the first time leaving him. Thanks again Helena”

“Would highly recommend Dan as a sitter. He’s very easy going and was attentive to my dog’s needs, allowing him on the sofa and bed, just like a home from home. He had plenty of walks and Dan updated me regularly with pictures and messages. Thank you Dan, couldn’t ask for more”

“I couldn’t recommend Racheal more if I tried this was the first time leaving our dog with someone who isn’t family and I think he enjoyed it more with Rachael, she sent videos/photos plenty of updates and I could see he was settling just like he was at home and that I had nothing to worry about. He will be coming back to Racheal every time we go away thank you x”

“Ru has been so well looked after. He came home happy and tired. I received loads of photos of his walks and plays. He doesn't normally settle well woth other dogs but it wasn't an issue. Thank you for caring for him”

“Our lovely Ginger was diagnosed with diabetes over Christmas just gone and is now insulin dependent. We thought we would never be able to go away without her again due to being able to leave her with someone we could trust to feed her correctly and give her the insulin she needs. I contacted Faith and she was happy to have her for us so long as I explained and showed her what Ginger needed and how to administer her medication. We were both a little nervous but there was no need to be, Faith did an amazing job of looking after Ginger, she always checked if she was unsure and kept in contact with us regularly. We were sent lovely photos showing how happy Ginger was, she was in her element stealing all of Faith’s dog Tommy’s toys, she even came home with her favourite one!! We no now we can leave ginger in good hands if we ever go away again x”

Dog owners share their Rover experiences - East Riding of Yorkshire
We contacted Charlie at very short notice to look after Brock. After meeting her and Arlo I realized Brock would be looked after like I would want. She sent me daily updates and photos of Brock. He settled in with Charlie and Arlo and had the time of his life. Lots of walks and love. He looked lovely when we fetched him and although he was extremely happy to see his dad he is missing Arlo his new friend. I would highly recommend Charlie to anyone and will always send Brock to her when we go away. Thank you Charlie and Arlo for making Brock's time away from us enjoyable. He has had an absolute ball.😘

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Yorkshire and the Humber may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
