About: I have been passionate about animals for as long as I can remember. Back in my home country, raised my own dog from a tiny puppy, and he is now a lovely ten-year-old senior dog. Looking after him over all these years has given me valuable hands-on experience caring for older dogs, understanding their slower pace, special health needs and gentle care requirements. 么 I also rescued and cared for six cats while living in China. Looking after this group of rescue pets taught me immense patience, how to help shy, nervous animals feel safe, and how to manage multiple pets with different personalities and needs at the same time. Those wonderful years built my confidence and deep love for every furry friend. Since moving to York in the UK, I now have one friendly, well-socialised one-year-old dog who lives with me at home. He is calm, gentle and happy to meet other dogs. I am home full-time and rarely out of the house for long periods. This means your dog will get constant companionship, frequent daily walks, regular feeding times, plenty of playtime and rest. 1 am also happy to administer medication if needed. I treat every pet that stays with me like a member of my own family. Throughout their booking, I will send you regular photo and text updates, so you can enjoy peace of mind while you are away. I welcome puppies, adult dogs and senior dogs of all temperaments. I am currently not working and stay at home full-time, so I can dedicate plenty of time to look after, play with and walk your dog every single day. We were a bit nervous at first about using a pet sitter, but Joanne arranged a meeting in a nice neutral space and I could tell from her interactions with my dog that she cared about dogs and we left her with our beloved little girl. While away, Joanne sent lots of videos and from the videos we could tell that our dog was really being looked after well - the dog was really relaxed in the videos, was being played with, and looked very very comfortable with Joanne. So comfortable in fact that we were a little worried our dog would want to stay with her when we came back, as our dog was definitely being pampered! About: I’ve grown up surrounded by all kinds of animals, from cats and dogs to chickens, horses, and even a rescue fawn! Animals have always been a big part of my life, and caring for them is something I genuinely love. Over the past few years, I’ve had the opportunity to travel the world, including spending time in New Zealand where I was fortunate enough to house-sit and care for some wonderful dogs. It’s our second time booking with them, and Chapo had been quite moody before we dropped him off, but as soon as we got to their house he was suddenly very happy, very excited, very waggy tail, thrilled to be back. We have recently left our greyhound with Lesley and Phil, we were anxious about leaving him as he had never been left with anyone before and we were worried how he would cope. We met them beforehand and felt very reassured he would be good hands. During his stay we had regular updates and photos showing how happy he was which was very reassuring and he was very relaxed when we picked him up. Lesley and Phil are genuine dog lovers and we would be happy to leave Louie with them again.
I had no hesitation in booking Vanessa again to look after Harry. She and her family are wonderful with him - lots of walks, games and cuddles with her and the boys. Harry enjoyed a variety of walks, including at Filey Kite Festival. Vanessa really took time to understand Harry’s needs and his sleeping and eating schedules and managed them perfectly. Bethany looked after Cherry when we were on holiday and judging by all the photos and updates Cherry had the most fantastic holiday herself. It was so nice to get updates and pictures of Cherry and Olive playing together and having fun. We would definitely recommend Bethany she is a kind and caring dog owner and definitely welcomed Cherry into her home.
Jo was so lovely and professional. She asked lots of questions when we met before Millie's stay to make sure Millie was well looked after. She sent us a few photos and videos during her stay, which was lovely. Millie had a great stay and made herself very at home. I will absolutely use Jo again!!!
Kate was a fantastic sitter and we highly recommend her to other pet owners! She cared for our 2 year-old fox red labrador, Margo, for 6 days and I don't think Margo wanted to leave when we got back! Kate obviously has a lot of experience with animals and was instantly comfortable with Margo, despite her being a little anxious and over excited when we first met! Kate followed all of our instructions, took Margo and some lovely walks, sent us updates on a daily basis and was even very relaxed and understanding when we got delayed on our journey home. Jane is the best! I was super worried about leaving our dog at home for the first time while we went away for a week, but Jane and her little troop of helpers (2 Chihuahuas and Gizmo, that chill cat) made Olive feel completely at home. Wouldn't hesitate for a second to leave Olive with Jane again. Total life saver!
I booked Georgia and Will last minute whilst away on holiday with my 3 dogs. Georgia was really quick to reply to messages, and was friendly and helpful, I also received great communication and photos during the day of the stay. If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee.
