About: I have had pets since I was 10 years old. I have had cats, dogs and kittens and also rabbits. I have experience looking after people’s kittens/cats/senior cats and also puppies/adult dogs and senior dogs. I have medication administration experience as our old senior cat had medical conditions which required medication. I love looking after furbabies to ensure their individual needs are being met taking into consideration their different personalities. I currently work a 9-5 job Monday to Friday but I am free evenings and over the weekend. Over the weekend I am more flexible to look after pets in my own home, take them for walks and do drop in sessions. I can also offer dog walking/ drop in sessions in the evening after work hours. I have a fenced backyard for your furbaby and I am a 5 minute walk away from a field. I am available to meet up prior to a sit/walk or drop in so I am able to meet you and your furbaby so you can assess who is going to look after your family member.
“Caitlin was great with our old Cocker Spaniel. So patient and caring. Also great communication before and during the appointment. Even sent a lovely photo. Would highly recommend! Thanks Caitlin”

“Lucy was an excellent pet sitter! She was flexible, caring, and handled our anxious cat Felix really well while we were away. When we came home earlier than planned, she refunded the unused visits without us even asking, which was greatly appreciated. She also watered our plants and checked on our fish, so everything was well looked after. Highly recommended and we'd happily use her services again. Thanks Lucy.”

“Octavia-Louise was a godsend today when we needed help to look after our boy who has recently been attacked. He took to her immediately and is clearly very kind hearted. As I was also attacked this has been such a benefit to me to know he’s been taken care of when I had to go out”

About: Hi, I’m Zoe 😊 I’ve had the joy of looking after dogs of all ages, breeds, and temperaments, and I currently share my home with an energetic cocker spaniel who keeps me on my toes and reminds me daily how much love and fun our four-legged friends bring into our lives. I know how important it is to feel confident that your dog is safe, happy, and well cared for while you’re away. Whether it’s going on long walks or simply giving plenty of love attention, I’ll make sure your pup gets exactly what they need whilst their mum or dad are away. I’m attentive to their needs, experienced in handling high-energy dogs, and committed to giving each dog the love and care they deserve. If you’re looking for someone reliable, patient, and passionate about dogs, I’d love to help! I work from home the majority of the time and have plenty of opportunity to give your pet the love and care it deserves, with regular walks, toilet breaks and cuddles! I have a fenced garden and a friendly cocker spaniel to keep your pup company! At your home, I will be more than happy to take instructions and look after your pet / home as needed to minimize disruption to their routine as much as possible.

About: Hi, I’m Beatriz! I’ve been around dogs my whole life and absolutely love having them as part of my day 🐾 After moving away for university, I really missed being around dogs, so I joined BorrowMyDoggy where I built up a great network of dogs I regularly cared for. This gave me experience with different breeds, personalities, and routines. Since moving to York, I’ve continued dog sitting and now have two regular dogs I look after. I also have experience with more nervous dogs—my mum’s dog is quite anxious and can be scared of new people and other dogs, so I’m used to being patient, reading their body language, and helping them feel safe and comfortable. I’ve also cared for family dogs for longer stays (up to two weeks at a time), so I’m very comfortable with overnight and extended care. I work from home 2–3 days a week, which means I can be flexible—perfect for daytime sitting, lunchtime walks, or keeping your dog company throughout the day. I’m reliable, patient, and genuinely love spending time with dogs—whether that’s long walks, playtime, or just giving them lots of attention and care. I’ll always treat your dog like my own and make sure they feel safe, happy, and well looked after. Pet care fits really naturally into my routine, especially during the week. I work from home 2–3 days a week, so I’m able to offer daytime care, have dogs stay with me while I work, and do lunchtime walks. During weekdays I have a flexible schedule, which means I can give dogs plenty of attention, regular walks, and company throughout the day. I do tend to be a bit busier on weekends, so I’m usually better suited to weekday walks, daycare, or sitting. That said, I’m still happy to help with overnight stays over weekends when planned in advance. I always aim to make pets feel as safe, comfortable, and relaxed as possible—whether they’re in my home or their own. At my home, I have a small garden for quick toilet breaks, as well as a great, fully fenced green space nearby for safe walks and playtime. I keep a calm, clean environment and stick closely to each dog’s usual routine, including feeding times, walks, and any specific instructions you provide. For stays in my home, I do ask that dogs are house-trained. When caring for pets in an owner’s home, I’m very respectful of their space and make sure to follow all routines as closely as possible to keep things familiar and stress-free for the dog. I’m attentive to their behaviour, especially with more nervous dogs, and always take a patient, gentle approach to help them feel secure. I’m also happy to provide updates and photos, so you can feel confident your pet is in safe hands.
About: Having worked in pets at home from age 16 for 5 years I got to learn all the basics of animal care for a variety of pets. I've grown up around spaniels and have a beautiful 3 year old male working cocker spaniel who loves a friend to play with. I've also previously walked dogs as a part time job as well as care for people's pets through borrow my doggy before I got my dog. I currently work full time as a nurse, my weekends are free and I also have a day off during the week where I would be happy to help out with dog walking or visits. I have a fully secured back garden with grass and patio and no flower/plant borders making it very secure and safe for dogs. I would treat your dog the same as my own whilst also respecting their routine and normal house rules.
About: Had 4 different dogs in my lifetime, all who were loved until the age of 18, aswell as 2 cats, and have experience dealing with dogs all different natures and breeds. I love taking care of them and keeping them safe and being around animals brings me much joy. One of my current dogs being 18, and my other being 1, means I have to deal with both senior and youthful energy all the time, teaching me alot. I'm currently in my first year at York St John University, although have lots of free time all week, so I'm happy to help out during the week and on weekends! I love to spend time with animals, so I am extremely flexible, and will likely be available whenever required 😁 I'm happy to adapt in whatever scenario to care for any pets, I'm happy to feed them, play with them, chill with them, keep an eye on them, take them out for walks, smother them with love, whatever you require!
“Brooke is amazing. We were really apprehensive about using a service like this because our cat is really shy and hides from everyone, however Brooke was able to connect with Frida on day one which was incredible. I would high recommend Brooke.”

About: I have grown up around dogs while riding horses since I was a kid. I have spent 18 years in the horse riding club and have plenty experience looking after dogs for friends, family and clients. I have looked after all kind of dogs especially bigger dogs. Each dogs needs are different to others and I provide personalised care around your dogs needs. I may ask a lot of questions but this is to make sure I familiarise myself with your dog, their habits and needs so we both can enjoy our time together. I can provide walks, drop in visits and staying at your house over night. I'm also experienced in providing medication to dogs. I have availability on evenings and weekends. I have my own dog so I don't take dogs home but can play with your dog at yours and occupy their brains with different games so they enjoy their time with me.
About: As a fellow pet owner / vet student it can be hard to find someone I trust to care for my pet as I would want when I go away. They are our babies after all! And so, I'd love to offer a safe pair of hands to other local pet owners. 🐾 Cuddles, play time, poop scooping, cleaning up any mess, brushing and WhatsApp pic and video updates are all part of the charge! As a final year vet student I'm also very experienced in first aid and the stealth techniques required for medicating animals, I'm used to it :) Bins, post and plant watering all part of the service 🌱 Get in touch if you have any questions! 🐾 I have a pretty flexible schedule & can usually do services with little notice depending on my week day so get in touch if you're not sure! 🐾 I am currently only offering services at the clients home or dog walking service. Please ignore the following: (My home has a fence and a secure back garden :))

We couldn’t be happier with the care Frank provided during the drop-in visits. Communication was excellent from start to finish: Frank kept me updated after every visit with messages and photos, which gave me real peace of mind while I was away. Winnie can be quite reactive and doesn’t always warm up to new people, but she built trust with Frank surprisingly quickly and was clearly very comfortable. He was also willing to meet her before the drop ins as well, so she wouldn’t be stressed when he came over, which is very thoughtful. He was very responsive, replying quickly to messages and answering any questions or concerns I had. He also kindly changed the visit time at a short notice. I would absolutely book with him again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and professional sitter!

Jingxi was phenomenal watching Sylvie while we were away. We needed someone when our regular dog sitter was at work (we work from home) and Jingxi was fantastic at making sure Sylvie went potty, had some treats, and played. She went above and beyond and was so so communicative. We will definitely use her again and would highly recommend her to anyone who needs someone to look after their fur babies! 😍

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in York choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a key safe. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalised codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in a flat, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or lift etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a qualified vet or offer other resources to help.
