About: I have grown up with a variety of animals my entire life, all varying in ages and sizes. I currently provide pet sitting and walking in addition to my current full time job for friends and family. This includes looking after my sister’s 11 month old puppy and training where possible. I am currently working full time Monday to Friday in a college. With my weekends free, I work from home on Mondays and Fridays which allow me to pet sit on these days, I can do overnight stays so long as I don’t have an event. With my job I sometimes do overtime which allows me to book off additional days for pet sitting should I need to. I prefer looking after pets in the pet owners home as I believe pets deserve to feel at home and safe, what safer space is there for them than a space they live in. I will provide the upmost care and respect in your home, I am also DBS checked

Shunqi is really lovely and my cats loved her. She sent lots of photos each visit and kept me updated on how well they were eating, if they didn't feel like playing that day or if she had any concerns so I wasn't worried at all. My cats have also tended to sulk when I have left them with other people before but they seemed really happy when I got back. Will definately book again in future :)

Jonny was an excellent cat sitter! He was dependable, communicative, and clearly loves cats. He sent regular updates and photos, which gave us peace of mind while we were away. We came home to two happy, well-cared-for cats. We’d absolutely book with Jonny again and highly recommend him to other Rover pet parents.

About: I have experience of owning and looking after family and friends dogs. I am a keen walker, loving nothing more than being out with dogs locally. I curently work part time in a freelance basis at home so have lots of time to help to care for and walk dogs locally. I am always up and about walking our dog early, then we have a other couple of walks planned through the day. We have an enclosed garden so we have fun between walks playing in the garden. I have a large fully enclosed back garden and live in a village near Selby giving us access to beautiful walks and fields on my doorstep.

About: I’m a friendly dog lover offering dog sitting, walking, and boarding. I grew up with dogs and have lots of hands-on experience with a range of breeds. I’m confident, calm, and attentive to each dog’s individual needs, routines, and personalities. I also send regular updates and photos, giving you peace of mind that your furry family member is being cared for like one of my own! Now that I’ve bought a house, l really miss having a dog around to take on long walks, play with, and cuddle up with on the sofa. Whilst saving for my wedding, this felt like the perfect way to combine my free time with my genuine love for dogs 🐾 I’m available most days for boarding or daycare as I can choose which days I work from home. When I am working from home, rest assured your dog will still have company all day as I pop their bed next to me as I work, so that they can signal its belly scratch time whenever they want! On sunny days, i’ll work in the garden with the patio doors open so that they can soak up the sunshine and inspect my plants! ☺️ My garden is completely fenced in with no side access, so you won’t need to worry about your dogs getting anywhere they shouldn’t (I know they can sometimes try to be houdini!) I also have experience with dogs which don’t like other dogs and need that extra bit of planning and dog awareness on walks to ensure all dogs involved remain as calm and stress free as possible. So if you do have a dog which you would rather doesn’t come into contact with any other dogs (I know the feeling) please rest assured I am confident and comfortable with this and I just require that they wear a harness for safety reasons :)

About: I’ve grown up around dogs and have owned two dogs of my own, giving me years of hands-on experience with different personalities, routines, and care needs. I currently have a long haired miniature dachshund named Presley, so I’m very familiar with daily walks, playtime, enrichment, feeding, and providing a safe, loving environment. Alongside caring for my own dogs, I’ve also looked after friends’ and family members’ dogs, helping with walks, feeding, companionship, and general care. While I’m new to Rover, I’m passionate about building my experience and treating every dog as if they were my own. I’m reliable, patient, and understand that every dog is unique. I’ll always take the time to get to know your dog’s personality and routine, ensuring they feel comfortable, happy, and well cared for while they’re with me. I currently offer pet care on Saturdays and Sundays, making me a great option for weekend walks and drop-in visits if you’re busy or simply want to go somewhere for the day. I’ll always do my best to be flexible where possible on weekdays and will keep my calendar up to date so you know exactly when I’m available. I look forward to spending quality time with your dog and making sure they feel happy, safe, and well cared for. Your dog’s safety and wellbeing are my top priorities. I’ll take the time to understand their routine, personality, and any specific needs before every walk or drop-in visit. During walks, I’ll ensure your dog is safe, happy, and gets the exercise they need, while drop-in visits will include plenty of care, attention, fresh water, and any feeding or toilet breaks required. I’ll also keep you updated with messages and photos so you can feel confident they’re in good hands.

About: I have been passionate about animals for as long as I can remember. Back in my home country, raised my own dog from a tiny puppy, and he is now a lovely ten-year-old senior dog. Looking after him over all these years has given me valuable hands-on experience caring for older dogs, understanding their slower pace, special health needs and gentle care requirements. 么 I also rescued and cared for six cats while living in China. Looking after this group of rescue pets taught me immense patience, how to help shy, nervous animals feel safe, and how to manage multiple pets with different personalities and needs at the same time. Those wonderful years built my confidence and deep love for every furry friend. Since moving to York in the UK, I now have one friendly, well-socialised one-year-old dog who lives with me at home. He is calm, gentle and happy to meet other dogs. I am home full-time and rarely out of the house for long periods. This means your dog will get constant companionship, frequent daily walks, regular feeding times, plenty of playtime and rest. 1 am also happy to administer medication if needed. I treat every pet that stays with me like a member of my own family. Throughout their booking, I will send you regular photo and text updates, so you can enjoy peace of mind while you are away. I welcome puppies, adult dogs and senior dogs of all temperaments. I am currently not working and stay at home full-time, so I can dedicate plenty of time to look after, play with and walk your dog every single day. I am fully available for pet-boarding services all week with no strict time restrictions. I have rich long-term pet-care experience. I previously cared for six cats and a 10-year-old dog back in my home country. Now I own a one-year-old friendly, well-socialised dog here in the UK. I will closely supervise all interactions between the pets and offer your furry friend a safe, quiet and comfortable home environment.

I work hybrid so have the flexibility to WFH meaning lots of cuddles and toilet breaks, plenty of walks and engagement. I also work half days on Friday so have the availability to walk on Friday afternoons too. I am happy to view homes before dog sitting and understand the environment in which your pet lives in, will require the basic needs of your dog before hand and learn about their habits (no off lead etc)

About: I'm currently a student Occupational Therapist who is really missing my family's pets while I'm at uni! 🐾 I love animals and know how important they are as valued members of the family! As a teenager I volunteered for the Cats Protection League and would clean litter trays for people in my local area who couldn't do so themselves. I would often dogsit for neighbours, and have even looked after someone's pet frogs before! 🐾 I adapt to whatever style of care your pet needs - some pets value calm and slow paced interactions, and some pets seem to have unlimited amounts of energy! My goal is to keep your pet happy in a style that is closest to their normal. 🐾 I am a very clean person, who will send regular updates via text and video. I have a fully enhanced DBS, and solid references :) 🐾 It's currently the summer holidays at University, so my schedule is completely flexible! I am doing a lot of studying at the moment, which can be done with your pet if they need extra company or supervision 🤓📖 I volunteer at my local community garden for a few hours a week, but this is flexible. I'll happily send update videos and pictures, and will always make sure you know what's going on. I understand that pets feel upset when their family leave for a trip, so I try to make the experience a positive one!

About: Hello, I’m Rebecca! ☺️ I joined Rover because I need my fix of furry friends! I grew up with pets, and I miss being around animals. I’m a 31 year old looking to pet sit alongside my full time job. I would love a little pup of my own, but due to my current housing situation, that isn’t possible (yet)! I do a lot of long walks, so would love the company. I’m happy to look after your pets in your home or take them out for a run, whatever the weather! I love dogs of all different sizes, ages, training and energy levels. I look forward to looking after your 4-legged friend! 🐶🐱🐾 I am a part-time dog-sitter but would love to fit in as many walks as possible! I keep my calendar open so I have the opportunity to move things around to help. I will only walk off-leash with your pup if I feel confident in doing so! I am unable to accommodate animals at my house but am happy to care for your pets at your home. I am happy to meet beforehand to run-through any needs you may have!

Yes, absolutely! Many sitters on Rover are experienced in caring for multiple pets simultaneously, whether you have a pack of dogs, a clowder of cats, or a mix of both.

Look for sitters who highlight multi-pet expertise or check for verified reviews from other Selby pet parents with similar pet households.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Selby choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a key safe. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalised codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in a flat, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or lift etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a qualified vet or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s booking protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
