I can’t praise Laura and her family enough! From arranging the booking to picking Boe up, everything was just brilliant. They have a lovely home and are the nicest people you will meet, and your pets will have the best care that they deserve during their stay. Constantly kept me upto date and at ease on how things are going. Plenty of walks throughout the day and any requests or instructions were not at issue at all. Already planned to rebook with Laura again for another stay. Thankyou again to the whole family for making Boe’s stay so welcoming! ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

I needed to find a new sitter for my little dog as my usual lady is retiring this year. He stayed with Daria yesterday and overnight as a trial and he settled in lovely. I had no worries that he was being well cared for during his stay and got regular updates and videos which was very comforting. I am about to re book for some later dates. 🙂

Hayley was absolutely amazing with our Staffy Lola! She looked after her as her own. After being very nervous about leaving her for the first time overnight, Hayley made me feel so comfortable knowing she was in the best care! She sent lots of photos of Lola to us out on walks and having cuddles 😊 Lola was very happy staying with Hayley & her son. I couldn’t think of a better person to of chosen to look after her. I very highly recommend Hayley to anybody looking for somewhere to leave there pets overnight in a loving family home. Thank you so much Hayley I will definitely be using you again and recommending you to everybody I can.

Matthew was caring and conscientious whilst looking after our little dog. The circumstances were less than ideal, the weather was 30 degrees and she unfortunately had an illness which required antibiotics, although she was well in herself by the time we left her, she still needed to finish her course of medication whilst staying with Matthew. Matthew kept me updated and in touch the whole time, and immediately shared any concerns, and acted as necessary. Thank you Matthew

About: Hi! I’m originally from Brazil and recently moved here. I’m still improving my English, but I’m dedicated, responsible, and passionate about animals. I’ve been working with pets since 2021. In Brazil, I worked at a pet shop as a pet bather, where I gained experience handling dogs and cats of different sizes, breeds, and personalities. I’ve also cared for my own pets, as well as pets belonging to family, friends, and clients. I really enjoy spending time with dogs, whether we’re out on a walk or relaxing and playing together at home. I also offer dog boarding in my home, where I can provide a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment for pets while their owners are away. I make sure they receive plenty of attention, affection, exercise, playtime and rest, always respecting their individual routine and needs. I currently have a flexible schedule, which allows me to provide reliable and dedicated care. My goal is to make every walk and stay a positive, safe and enjoyable experience, while giving owners peace of mind knowing their pet is in good hands. I look forward to meeting you and your furry friend! I have a flexible schedule and plenty of availability for dog walks during the week and, when needed, on weekends. I also offer dog boarding in my home, providing a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment where pets can feel relaxed and cared for while their owners are away. I like to organise my schedule so I can give each dog the time and attention they deserve, always respecting their individual pace, needs and personality. Whether it’s going for a walk or staying in my home, my goal is to provide safe, enjoyable and stress-free care, making sure every pet feels comfortable, happy and well looked after. When caring for animals, their safety and well-being are always my top priorities. During walks, I always keep dogs securely on a leash, avoid unsafe areas, and pay close attention to their behavior and surroundings. For dogs staying in my home, I provide a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment, while carefully following their usual routines, needs, and any instructions provided by their owners. I always respect each pet’s routine, personality, and individual needs, whether they are joining me for a walk or staying in my home. My goal is to make every walk and stay a safe, enjoyable, and positive experience, giving owners confidence that their pet is being cared for with patience, responsibility, and attention.

Millie was absolutely amazing from start to finish. She replied to all my messages quickly, and was very thorough to make sure that Maggie's routine wasn't too disrupted and her stay was as comfortable as possible. She was very reassuring of my worries about leaving a crazy puppy with someone new for her first night away from home, and even met up with us beforehand so that Maggie could meet her and see the house before she went to stay overnight. She sent regular updates and pictures throughout the stay, and I could see that she was really settled and having a great time getting lots of walks love and attention! I would definitely recommend Millie, and Mags can't wait until I next go away so that she can go and visit her new best friend❤️

This was a long visit...nearly 3 weeks. First time we have ever left one of our fur babies so long, but Justine & Matty take such great care, we never worried for a second. Lots of pics and videos showing him living his best life, and plenty of pupdates to keep us up to date with how he was doing. I was worried he would not want to come home as he was having so much fun.

About: What sets me apart as a sitter is not just my experience, but my genuine love and commitment to animal care. Having always had a dog of my own, I understand the unique needs and personalities of each pet. I'm also experienced with cats, and I've looked after the dogs of my friends and family, which has given me exposure to different breeds and temperaments. I’m particularly skilled in providing care for puppies, ensuring they get the attention they need for training and socialization. I also have experience with senior pets, offering the patience and understanding they need in their later years, from administering medication to providing gentle exercise and extra comfort. Whether it’s daily walks, playtime, or just some extra cuddles, I’ll make sure your pets feel loved and well taken care of while you’re away. Pet care fits into my daily/ weekly routine as I have plenty of spare time to help and look after your pets! This is because I’m a uni student but with ample time available When caring for pets in a pet owner's home, I focus on keeping their routine as normal and stress-free as possible. I follow all feeding schedules, walk times, and any special instructions you provide to ensure your pet feels safe and comfortable in their familiar environment. I also make sure to spend quality time with them—whether that’s playing, cuddling, or simply keeping them company—so they feel loved and not alone while you're away. If I’m caring for pets in my own home, I create a warm, welcoming space that’s clean, safe, and suited to their needs. I maintain their routine as closely as possible and provide plenty of attention, exercise, and affection. Whether it’s making sure a dog gets their favorite toy or a cat has a cozy, quiet spot to relax, I do everything I can to make them feel right at home. In both settings, communication is key—I keep you updated with regular messages and photos so you can feel confident and at ease while your pet is in my care.

Our two dachshunds stayed with Jack for a week, having previously had a practice overnight stop. They came home happy and had obviously been well looked after. Jack gave them meds (they both had allergy tablets) and their worming and flea treatments (eco friendly). I forget to pick something up when we collected the boys so went back a couple of days later. The boys were delighted to see him again, so this shows me that they must have enjoyed themselves.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in Yorkshire and the Humber may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
