“Jake was fabulous! We were desperately trying to find someone who would look after our dog for a week as our original carer couldn’t take dogs in season. Jake was great from the beginning. We organized a meet and greet before going ahead with the booking. He’s confident with all breeds and sizes with a very calm demeanor which has a positive effect on the dogs. Otter got 2/3 walks a day and we received daily updates of her adventures. This was the first time we’ve left her with someone else for such a long period of time but all the anxiety washed away when we met Jake. Highly recommend and in such a brilliant location in the countryside. We would 100% recommend Thanks again for looking after our Otter (:”

“Emma has been amazing with Wilbur our 9 month old pup. We were extremely worried about our first time leaving him but after our first visit to meet Emma we knew he completely in safe hands! Emma made sure we had regular updates and lots of photos and has really made him one of her own this last few days! Big thankyou Emma and family! X”

“After Sarah agreed to look after Henry. We went to meet her and her husband Bob. Henry took an instant liking to both. We went back for a second meet, Henry ran straight upto them and into the house and made himself at home. I had no doubts what so ever leaving him with Sarah and Bob. Sarah sent photos of Henry, he looked happy and at home. I can't recommend Sarah enough to look after your dog. He will be so well looked after. Will certainly be booking Henry in again. Thank you very much Sarah and Bob for my worry free weekend knowing Henry was with you.”

“Joseph and Helen had a met and greet with Stan (my elderly Boxer) before they cared for him. He’s usually a little nervous of people he doesn’t know but went to them straight away with no anxiety, which tells me a lot about someone. Joe kept in communication before hand ensuring he knew everything he needed to know about Stan and any foibles he had. While I was away I was sent a photo and message to say how well he was settling. When I hit back from my trip I was met by a very relaxed and chilled dog who had obviously had a good time.’ I would certainly use Joseph and Helen again and can’t recommend them enough.😃”

“I cannot speak highly enough about Jade. She is fantastic with dogs and looked after Frankie when things weren't right for him, she could not have done anything more and we both agreed that in the best interest of Frankie that I picked him up a day early. I can assure everyone your dog will be highly looked after with Jade.”
“Excellent service. Rupert was well looked after by Kristina and her family. He had plenty of lovely walks and Kristina sent photos daily. I will definitely recommend her to other pet owners. Thank you 😊”

“Lindsey was more like family to our Ness, she took the time to look after her, make her feel comfortable and entered through their walks. Ness felt right at home from the kindness and care throughout their weekend together. Some how she even got our fussy dog to eat her food! Thsnk you so much, ant dog in her care will cared for in the most loving way possible.”

“Maggie and John are absolutely fantastic caring and easy to communicate with. We had no worries about our Dobby staying with them at all as we knew he would be taken good care of. We got regular updates how is Dobby doing with pictures of Dobby and he looked very happy. 💖🤗”

“Megan was amazing from start to finish. She quickly responded to my messages and was clear with her communication throughout. I’d never left Ronnie with anyone outside of my family before and she suggested a meet and greet so I’d be confident when leaving him. I couldn’t have been more confident when walking away, her and her partner were so lovely and accommodating. Ronnie had the best time with them and I received regular photos of him throughout the week - he loved Bella their gorgeous dog so much - I was a little nervous he wouldn’t want to come home!!! Id recommend them everyone and would happily have Ronnie stay with them the next time we need.”

“So lucky to have found Colin and his family to care for Frank, our miniature schnauzer. He is so well looked after and settles so well. So reassuring to be able to go away, knowing Frank is well cared for.”

About: I have grown up around dogs and regularly have my mum’s dog to stay for up to 2 weeks at a time. I trained my family dog when she was a puppy and continue to recap her commands with her. I also have looked after my friends cats when she goes away by checking in a few times a day to feed and play with the cats and ensure they get time to go outside. I am a hybrid worker so have the flexibility to wfh. My hours are flexible so I can ensure I take dogs on long walks during my lunch break and that they are fed and played with at periods throughout the day. I have a fenced garden with plenty of grass and space to go to the toilet and run around. I live at the end of a cul-de-sac so very safe area with no cars passing by and a main road is a bit of a walk away. I allow pets on the sofa and have a plenty of blankets to cover furniture with so don’t mind them jumping up.
“We couldn't have asked for a better boarding experience for our Sheepadoodle Willow. Migle clearly loves dogs and cares for them like they are her own. She sent daily updates and was very thorough in making sure all of Willow's needs were met. Willow warmed to her straight away and appreciated all the attention, snuggles and walks. Highly recommend. Thank you Migle”

“Hamish was very well cared for by lovely caring people. We were only worried that he may not want to come home as he had such a wonderful time. Would not hesitate to recommend and will certainly use again when the need arises.”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better people to look after our dog, Layla. From the very beginning, it was clear that she was in caring, capable, and genuinely loving hands. Caroline and Andrew took the time to understand Layla’s routine, personality, and little quirks, which made a huge difference. We received regular updates, photos, and messages that gave us complete peace of mind while we were away—it was obvious Layla was happy, relaxed, and well cared for. Layla wasn’t just “looked after”—she was treated like part of the family. We’re incredibly grateful and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the couple to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, attentive, and truly passionate about dogs. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of Layla—we will definitely be booking again!❤️”

Sitters in East Midlands may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee.
