“Maggie and John are absolutely fantastic caring and easy to communicate with. We had no worries about our Dobby staying with them at all as we knew he would be taken good care of. We got regular updates how is Dobby doing with pictures of Dobby and he looked very happy. 💖🤗”

“Frankie loved his stay with Christine & Luke & Hugo! I’m sure Hugo & Frankie will be friends for life. Christine kept me happy by sending lots of videos & picture updates, I felt at ease & knew Frankie was being loved & looked after. Thank you so much for looking after my fur baby, I would highly recommend this wonderful family & home 🥰🐾”

“We had a meet and greet with David and Vicky a few days before Roo’s stay, and after meeting them I felt very comfortable leaving Roo with them. They are a great couple who obviously love dogs and they went out of their way to make her stay enjoyable. We had regular pup-dates with photos which was reassuring. We feel like Roo had her own holiday (including a trip to the seaside!) whilst we were on ours. Thank you so much! We will definitely try and book again next time we are away.”

“This was Lucky’s 5th stay with Antonia with more booked for the future. He’s super happy and makes himself comfy as soon as he arrives! Super lovely to know Antonia’s house is like a second home for Lucky and that he knows where he is and that he’ll have a lovely time whilst I’m working 🥰🐾”

“Veronika and her family were lovely and made Teddy feel very welcome. We were updated daily with lots of photos while we were away. I dont think Teddy wanted to come home.”

“Clear and concise communication from start to finish and super welcoming. Stepped in last minute when we were let down by someone else. Otto looks to have had a fab time from pictures and videos and we will definitely be using Bradley again.”

“This is the first time I have tried this service for looking after dogs as an alternative to kennels. Sarah suggested that I bought Jack my border terrier to her premises before making the booking to see if there were any apprehensions, she made Jack feel at home straight away which eased any doubts I had about this type of dog sitting. Sarah has been superb with Jack throughout his stay, keeping me informed by text of his daily routine and sending me occasional photos of jack which showed him being cuddled and well attended too. I can thoroughly recommend Sarah for her care and love of dogs and I won't hesitate to use her again to look after Jack.”
“Brooke did an amazing job of looking after my girl Juno. She was really reassuring before and when dropping Juno off. I got updates multiple times a day including videos and photos. It was lovely to see her so happy and enjoying her time, even went on a mini swim. Juno seemed to have so good of a time she wasn’t even bothered when I went to pick her up! Would 100% recommend to book with Brooke as I certainly would again!”

“Excellent care of my cockapoo whilst we went away for a week. First time we have left our 3 year old dog for this length of time. Kept us informed of how everything was going throughout our time away.”

“What a holiday stay! Milo was so well looked after, exercised regularly and really made to feel part of the family. We received plenty of updates and photographs and he got on well with the other dogs. Thank you so much for an excellent stay.”

“Extended our stay for our beloved Oakley as we where unexpectedly delayed by one extra day, following on from our original booking, peace of mind knowing Brian and Erika could accommodate our request 😊👍🏽”

“I Would defiantly use Ross again. This is the first time we have left our dog with a boarder from the minute I met Ross I felt reassured & knew he was in safe hands Ross was very easy going & has a great understanding of dogs, Ross was quick with responses & kept us up to date with how he was getting on! Very happy with the service & would recommend 😊”

“After Sarah agreed to look after Henry. We went to meet her and her husband Bob. Henry took an instant liking to both. We went back for a second meet, Henry ran straight upto them and into the house and made himself at home. I had no doubts what so ever leaving him with Sarah and Bob. Sarah sent photos of Henry, he looked happy and at home. I can't recommend Sarah enough to look after your dog. He will be so well looked after. Will certainly be booking Henry in again. Thank you very much Sarah and Bob for my worry free weekend knowing Henry was with you.”

“I knew Thomas was right the minute I met him. I met Thomas before we went away and immediately knew he would be the perfect person to look after our dog. Thomas sent lovely pictures of wonderful walks every day. We couldn't have been happier. Thank you so much Thomas and I know Rae will be so happy to come and stay again.”

“Izzy has just a 2 night stay with Joseph & Helen and thoroughly enjoyed it, I don't think she wanted to leave to come home 😂 We had plenty of updates whilst we were away and feel very confident in using Joseph & Helen again in the future!”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better people to look after our dog, Layla. From the very beginning, it was clear that she was in caring, capable, and genuinely loving hands. Caroline and Andrew took the time to understand Layla’s routine, personality, and little quirks, which made a huge difference. We received regular updates, photos, and messages that gave us complete peace of mind while we were away—it was obvious Layla was happy, relaxed, and well cared for. Layla wasn’t just “looked after”—she was treated like part of the family. We’re incredibly grateful and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the couple to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, attentive, and truly passionate about dogs. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of Layla—we will definitely be booking again!❤️”

“As always, Nelson was really happy staying with Sarah and Ed and well looked after. He definitely seems to settle in and treat them as surrogate parents whilst we are away. Thanks again both of you 🐾💚”

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in East Midlands may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
