“Maxi is quite a challenging dog with the separation anxiety that he has but Sophie was brilliant with Maxi, we felt instantly at ease upon meeting Sophie that Maxi was in safe hands, updates were very informative and always for ours and Maxi's benefit. Would highly recommend Sophie to anyone looking for a dog sitter/boarding.”

“Julie, is a really lovely lady. She is very caring and loving with my dog Sully. He has been going to Julie for daycare for almost 3 months now. He always comes back very happy and content. Sully, is always kept active with 2 walks a day and Julie, keeps me posted with pictures and video updates, regularly. I would highly recommend Julie to anyone.”

“Our 8 month old spaniel, Bonnie, had a very fun stay with Laura, Leandro and Sindy. We received lots of updates of Bonnie napping, chasing leaves and playing with Sindy! Laura and Leandro are natural dog people and we felt very comfortable leaving Bonnie with them. I would not hesitate to leave her with this lovely couple and would highly recommend them! Thank you, Laura and Leandro!”

“Anna and her partner Alex were fabulous, Scout had a great time with them! Scout is a high energy pup and they were great with him. Very understanding of his bad puppy habits and offered great insight and support working with me, am 100% a return customer, thanks again!”

“Maia was absolutely fantastic in caring for Mabel. Her communication is excellent, she put me at ease and sent lots of updates and photos throughout the day. Mabel had lots of cuddles and fun and enjoyed going for walks. Mabel had a brilliant day with Maia and I highly recommend her!”

“After a previous bad experience with a dog sitter, we were nervous about leaving our boy with anyone. After our meet & greet with Emma we could see that she was very professional, attentive & calm with all the dogs she had that day, introducing cooper to them all one at a time, this put us at ease, so we booked a doggy day care with her. Again this experience was great, Emma knowing we were nervous put us at ease keep us updated with Coopers progress with pics and messages. We’ve booked Cooper in for another doggy day care before he goes there for boarding in March. Thanks A lot Emma.”

About: At my dog sitting service, I am proud to providing top-notch care for dogs with a personal touch. For example: puppy and senior care, video calls with the owner, daily reports about how we spent the day, online tracker ( walking routes, location) with a 24/7 acces via app, home made cooked healthy meals (optional). I'm mainly at home all day, but I have cctv access with a speaker option if I need to go out. I never leave a dog at home alone who is with me for the first time and I am not sure what to expect from them exactly. I have a fully closed rear garden and a friendly tiny dog, Bobby (11, Shi-tzu mix :). Dogs can use sofas, beds if they are allowed at their home as well. I only use crate at a special request of the owner. Dog walks are only on-leash.

“Hannah looked after my 11-week-old puppy for two days, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. As it was my first time leaving such a young puppy with a dog sitter, I was a bit anxious, but Hannah put me completely at ease from the moment we met. She kept me updated throughout the day with messages and photos. It was clear that my puppy was well cared for and in safe hands the entire time. I’ve already booked with her again for a few weeks time, I would recommend to anyone looking for a dog sitter ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

“Kateryna was wonderful with our dog Arty and really helped at short notice! She kept me informed throughout the day with updates and pictures which was much appreciated. Arty was a happy and tired doggy at the end of the day. I would definitely rely on Kateryna for future Arty needs! Five stars!!!!”

“Fantastic sitter - so happy with Jessica. She made both dogs feel completely at home. Felt at ease with her straight away and could tell she genuinely loves dogs. So reassuring and took great care of my two nervous little noodles xx”

“Elsa loves her afternoons with Aviral, she’s so excited to see them and is well looked after. Reassuring to know we can leave her somewhere safe where she is happy.”

“Phoebe was great with Ham and Burr, she paid attention to their quirks and their routines and every time I picked them up they were tired and happy! I would recommend Phoebe to any person looking for doggy day care”

“Lauren and her partner were great with Stevie. She arranged a last minute meet and greet to reassure us and was very flexible with drop off/pick up times. Stevie had a great day, made herself at home and enjoyed her walks and cuddles. Lauren gave us updates throughout the day. We would use definitely use Lauren again and recommend to others ⭐️”

About: I have been surrounded by dogs my whole life growing up with, looking after and training two Labradors who have both been anxious with other dogs. I am a friendly individual who will make sure that dogs feel safe and comfortable while on walks and in my home. I am highly capable of looking after both young and old, small and big dogs and will cater to each and every need:) I have just finished my final year of university and am staying in Newcastle for two more months so have plenty of free days. I love going on walks and getting out of the house and would love to be a new (second) best friend for your pet! I live in a maisonette where we have looked after dogs on three separate occasions with sufficient space in the living room and easy access to a nearby park. I will ensure that there are no harmful and chewable objects around. There are no other dogs in this house so my full attention will be given to your pet:)

Dog owners share their Rover experiences - Gateshead
My precious dog Mabel stayed with Laura and her partner for the day whilst I attended a conference in the city. Drop off and pick up was very easy- easily commutable from the city centre. My dog instantly felt at home and I received regular updates throughout the day. At pickup my dog was so happy and fell asleep as soon as we got back to the hotel so I knew she’d had a great day. If we are ever back in the area I will definitely be booking with Laura again!

Holly was absolutely fantastic. Dexter was excited to arrive each dat and relaxed after he left. She went above and beyond to ensure he had adequate stimulation, care and exercise. Holly also communicated professionally with me and attended reliably. I highly recommend her and will be rebooking her right away for the future, assuming she has availability.

Your dog’s first day care experience is a big milestone! To help your pup settle in comfortably, we recommend:
- Food and treats portioned for the day, with feeding instructions
- Your dog's lead and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)
- Any seasonal gear, such as paw-safe wax for winter or a cooling vest for the summer
- Medication, if applicable, with clear dosage notes
- Any special care instructions or training tips to help your sitter provide the most personalised care possible
Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
