Julie, is a really lovely lady. She is very caring and loving with my dog Sully. He has been going to Julie for daycare for almost 3 months now. He always comes back very happy and content. Sully, is always kept active with 2 walks a day and Julie, keeps me posted with pictures and video updates, regularly. I would highly recommend Julie to anyone.

Sophie was wonderful with Lily. Lily is 15 and blind so leaving her with a new person is always a worry but Sophie put us at our ease immediately and Lily was very comfortable at her home. Thank you Sophie.

About: I’ve taken care of a variety of animals, mostly dogs, having run my own pet care and mess cleaning service a few years ago (Furry Friends Cleanup Crew). I am very comfortable with dogs, cats and other animals of all sizes and temperaments. Having said this, it’s still important that I meet your furry companions before a sit to give them a chance to know me and so they’re more comfortable during our time together. I’m lucky enough to have a flexible work from home role so pet care works very well with my lifestyle. As long as you are happy for me to bring my laptop along I am able to house/pet sit as long as you need. I have my own car and a clean driving license. At my home I have plenty of room and a high walled garden, so plenty of safety and space. I make sure to give dogs as many bathroom breaks as they need when sitting, wether that means taking them for frequent walks or simply letting them out in the garden if that is the preference.

Aviral & his wife took excellent care of Piper, they kept me updated with what they got up to & with pictures. Piper seemed to have had a great time & wasn't wanting to leave when I came to pick her up. They looked after Piper like she was their own pup, will definitely use them again.

About: My partner and I have had our own dogs, and family dogs in which we have taken care of diligently for most of our lives. Our soft love, playful personalities and calm approach around dogs enables us to comfortably have dogs around us. With plenty of affection, lots of walks and tail wags our love for dogs is unmatched. We have cared for dogs of all sizes and ages but we prefer those between the ages of 2-10 years old, but we are flexible to accommodate all. Working from home full-time, we have the flexibility to take the doggo’s out whenever it is needed throughout the day. As active individuals, we can provide adequate time to stimulate and play with the dogs, as well as the ability to provide adequate toilet breaks. With a three-levelled, fenced back yard they are free to roam around and have fun - with the curiosity of sniffing everywhere, like we know dogs love! With access to plenty of suitable parks, trails, and walking areas, we can ensure your loved one will get all the attention, exercise and love they crave!

About: I’ve had dogs and cats ever since I was born, in total I’ve looked after 3 sausage dogs, a foxhound and a cat called Lucy! I take them on walks, bathe them and give them lots of cuddles I’m currently working part time as a Researcher for Northumbria Police and I work from home (except for Thursdays). My usual shift patterns are 11-3 Monday to Friday (Tues -12:30-16:30). So I have a lot of spare time to look after your furry friends! I have a relatively large front and back garden and I’m happy to take them on walks every couple of hours as I love going on walks for fresh air. I also live 10 minutes away from chase park so happy to let them roam there for a couple of hours to get some fresh air! I don’t mind if they have an accident in the house, which animal doesn’t from time to time! My house is big enough for any type of dog to roam and play and we always make sure the house is clean and nothing that could cause injury is out

About: Before coming to the UK, I was basically a mom of 7 dogs. Spending time with them is never tiring . Aren't they little angles ✨ I have flexibility since its summer and I have no school. Pet care just kinda slips into your day—like feeding your furry overlord when you wake up, going on poop patrol during walks, and brushing enough fur to make a second pet. Once a week, it’s spa day When I’m caring for pets—whether in my home or someone else’s—it’s all about creating a safe, cozy vibe they can trust. I pet-proof the space (no sneaky snacks or chewable cords!), stick to their routine so they feel secure, and shower them with affection

She kept us up to date throughout the day of his activities and sent us photos which definitely put us at ease. He had a wonderful time with Kateryna, thank you! About: Hi I’m Molly, and I am a HUGE lover of four legged friends. I’ve been pet sitting for three to four years, working with dogs, cats, puppies and older dogs of all sizes. I took a break for the last year or so to travel and work, but I’m excited to get back to meeting your furry family members! My family life has always revolved around animals and I’ve raised them from puppies to seniors. In 2024 we adopted Raffy from the Dogs Trust and we’re working hard to settle her into her new home. I actively participate in training and enjoy learning about the best ways to interact with animals. I already enjoy walking a lot so taking your pup out multiple times a day is a bonus. I currently work from home 9-5 every week day. I have a relaxed position, all I need is WiFi! This gives me lots of time to spend with animals and can give them my full attention. I also have an hour lunch Mon-Fri, and I am free most evenings and weekends for walks or sitting. Although I am not consigned to my laptop this does need to be taken into account for dogs who may need more attention or supervision. Security and honesty is very important to me and I would hope to share this with any respective animal owners. I uphold these values, especially when caring for others pets; they are family members. Depending on the animal, I would make sure they aren’t alone for long periods and that they have what they need at specific times and keep to their normal routine, including walks, food and water. I like to make sure every pet I look after has enough enrichment, as owners being away can be worrying for them: playtime, walks, hide and seek are all my favourites. I will provide regular updates on your pet including pictures and videos so you know that they are safe and happy.

FAQs for Doggy Day Care - Gateshead

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Doggy Day Care in Gateshead on Rover is £23 per day (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Doggy Day Care easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Doggy Day Care. For more information on service fees, click here .

There are 466 sitters on Rover for Doggy Day Care in Gateshead. About 89% of Gateshead sitters can respond to requests in under 60 minutes. Whether you are planning ahead for public holidays, need last-minute care, or need same-day cover for an urgent trip, you can message multiple sitters at once to find available care.

Once you find the right match, you can arrange a Meet & Greet to ensure they are a perfect fit for your pet’s personality before confirming.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later collection to match your Gateshead commute.

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust collection and drop-off times when needed.

Your dog’s first day care experience is a big milestone! To help your pup settle in comfortably, we recommend:

  • Food and treats portioned for the day, with feeding instructions
  • Your dog's lead and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)
  • Any seasonal gear, such as paw-safe wax for winter or a cooling vest for the summer
  • Medication, if applicable, with clear dosage notes
  • Any special care instructions or training tips to help your sitter provide the most personalised care possible

Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in North East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a qualified vet or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s booking protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
