“As this was willows first time away from myself I was quite nervous on how she would be however Ella-Marie was fantastic, kept me updated throughout and willow was a really happy pooch 10/10 and will definitely be using Ella’s services again!”

“We couldn’t really recommend Lynn enough after Hugo stayed a couple of days for doggy day care. Lynn was just excellent looking after Hugo. She was flexible when I got the dates wrong on our booking and had to change last minute. Communication was great and drop off and collection was really easy. She is super friendly and Hugo enjoyed his time there with her and her family and her dog Rosie who is a lovely dog. We got some lovely photos of Hugo on his walks and he had a great time. Next time we’re back in Durham we will be definitely using Lynn again! Thanks!”

About: I have had dogs my whole life. I have my own dog, Nala, who I adore and who is great with other dogs, so if your dog is looking for a sitter where she can be around another dog, we would be perfect. I have a fully enclosed rear garden as well as great walks locally. My house is calm, caring and relaxed, the perfect environment for any dog. I taking the dogs for walks and making sure dogs get all the exercise and enrichment they need through the day. The dogs that I’ve looked after previously have adjusted quickly into our safe and caring environment, wherever possible I aim to mirror their own home, following as close a routine as we can. They will get plenty of attention, care and activity both physical and mental enrichment. I have no children, but my dog would be around, so your dog must be happy with other dogs. I work from home a number of days a week and would be looking to care for dogs on these days, where I have plenty of time for walks, cuddles and to look after all of their needs. I also don't work a number of mornings so can fully focus my attention on the dog during this time. I have a secure fully fenced medium size garden the dogs can enjoy and they would also have freedom in the house to roam. I live walking distance to some good nature walks where the dog can enjoy exploring and get good exercise. These walks are safe and away from cars.

About: I’ve grown up around animals and have always had a strong love for pets. I’ve had a cat since I was young and have helped with caring for my family dog for the past six years, so I’m very familiar with daily routines like feeding, walking, and giving lots of attention. I’ve also helped look after pets for family members, which has given me experience with different types of animals and personalities. I’m reliable, gentle, and always make sure pets feel comfortable, safe, and happy while in my care. I am currently a student at Durham university so have all summer to play and care for your animals:) I have lots of experience with walking and playing outside. Beaches and big fields are my favourite I am flexible and can take pets to my house with a lovely field near by for them to play in. Or I can come to you and help that way:)
“Superb! ? Faith took excellent care of our poodle Åtto, on very short notice. Faith comes across as very friendly and caring, and I felt reassured and confident that our dog would be in good and safe hands during his stay. Communication was very smooth and Faith sent us both pictures and a review of how our dog had been doing while with her. I can absolutely recommend Faith to anyone looking for a top notch dogsitter! ?”
About: A bit about me 🫶🏼 Hi! I’m Sophie but you can all call me Soph, I am a dedicated and trustworthy pet sitter with a genuine love for animals. I’ve been surrounded by pets my whole life, growing up and into adulthood with both cats and dogs. I truly understand how important it is to find someone you can rely on and trust to look after your fur babies🐾 I provide a safe, calm, and loving environment where your pet will feel comfortable and cared for while you’re away. Your pet’s safety and comfort are always my top priority, and I will treat your fur baby as if they were my own. I offer plenty of cuddles, attention, and affection from our very first hello to the final goodbye. I work from home, which means I’m flexible and able to adapt to you and your pet’s needs. I can work from the comfort of your home, helping your pet stay relaxed and content in a familiar environment while you’re away. As I work remotely, access to reliable WiFi is essential during house sits. I have experience with a wide range of animals, from kittens and puppies to adult cats and dogs, as well as reptiles of all shapes and sizes. With me the tiniest of babies to largest they are all welcome. I believe every animal deserves love, patience, and attentive care and that’s exactly what I provide. I also have experience caring for dogs with a wide range of needs, including those with allergies who require close attention to diet, exercise, and overall routine. I’m confident managing feeding plans and ensuring everything is tailored to keep them comfortable and healthy. I’ve also cared for senior dogs who need a gentler approach, including slower paced walks, support with stairs, and extra patience and understanding especially for those experiencing incontinence, where regular toilet breaks are never an issue. I’m experienced in administering oral medication safely and calmly, and I always take the time to make pets feel at ease. Whether it’s providing attentive care or simply giving plenty of belly rubs and affection, I’m dedicated to ensuring every dog feels happy, supported, and well looked after. Whether it’s walks, playtime, feeding, or simply companionship, I tailor my care to suit each pet’s unique personality and routine. Meet & Greets 🐾 Meet and greets are an important first step for you, your pet, and myself to ensure we’re the right fit for each other. Our initial meet will last around 15–20 minutes, giving us time to discuss your pet’s routine, needs, and preferences so I can provide the highest standard of care. It’s also a great opportunity for me to learn about your pet’s personality, likes, and quirks helping us build a positive and comfortable bond from the start. Most importantly, it allows your pet to meet me at their own pace, have a good sniff, and feel relaxed and confident in my presence. You are your pet’s best friend, and I promise to be a close second🫶🏼 I work from home Monday to Friday, which gives me the flexibility to work from anywhere with a reliable WiFi connection. This allows me to be fully present and attentive to your pet throughout the day. I’m an early riser, so morning walks and toilet breaks are never an issue, and my schedule easily accommodates both morning and evening walks. Working from home also means plenty of time for play, companionship, and, of course, lots of cuddles🐾 I also have a secure, fenced garden—perfect for safe outdoor play and fresh air. I’m ideally located near woodland areas, offering great opportunities for longer, enriching walks in nature. If your pet is crate-trained or requires crating, I have the space to accommodate this, ensuring they feel safe and comfortable when resting or left alone. Please note that my home does have stairs, so if your pet prefers to sleep upstairs or on the bed, they would need to be comfortable using stairs or be okay with being carried. When in pet sitting in someone else home I ensure your house is treated as thought it is my own. I will ensure your house is clean and tidy on your return and throughout my stay. Your pet is my priority so ensuring they feel safe and content is vital. When out on walks unless confirmed by yourself during our initial meet and greet, your pet is kept leaded and with me at all times. I from experience know trust is very important so I am happy to do a few sessions ahead of my stay with your fur baby to ensure you and your pet feel safe and happy.

“Marley had the best time with Sophie today. Sophie sent us lots of updates and photos of Marley throughout the day to let us know how he had settled. Marley is such a high energy dog but Sophie was brilliant with him and meeting his needs. Her communication is brilliant and is very responsive to messages. Marley also loved meeting and playing with his new doggy friend Riley. We would happily use Sophie again for dog sitting in the future. Thank you!”

About: I've had dogs my whole life and currently have two friendly, well-socialised dogs of my own. I regularly help care for my neighbours' dogs while they're at work, providing walks, companionship, feeding and plenty of attention. I genuinely love spending time with dogs and understand how important it is to know your pet is safe, happy and well cared for. I currently only work on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so I'm available most other days for dog walks, drop-in visits and boarding. For boarding, dogs would need to be comfortable around children, as I have two dog-savvy children who have grown up around dogs and know how to interact with them respectfully. My own dogs are very friendly and enjoy the company of other dogs, helping visiting pets feel welcome and at home. I will care for your dog as if they were one of my own, making sure they receive lots of love, attention, exercise and cuddles while you're away. I also only work term time so I’m at home full time during the school holidays ☺️ Pet care fits naturally into my weekly routine as I already care for my own two dogs every day. I am fully available on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays for walks, drop-in visits and boarding. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays I work from 8:30am until 3:30pm, but I'm available after work. I also only work term time so there are periods where I am home full time, my husband also works from home on a Tuesday and is in the local area on wednesdays usually so our dogs are never left alone much at all which will be the same for your pet 🙂. Weekends are usually spent with my family enjoying local parks, beaches and countryside walks, and any dogs staying with us are welcome to join our adventures. If we're visiting somewhere that isn't dog-friendly, we're usually only out for a few hours at a time. Your dog's safety, comfort and happiness are my top priorities. We have a large, secure garden with high fencing, giving dogs plenty of space to play and explore safely. I live in a lovely area of County Durham with access to lots of beautiful walking routes, parks and open spaces. I have two friendly, well-socialised dogs who enjoy the company of other dogs, helping visiting pets feel relaxed and at home. I also have two dog-savvy children who have grown up around dogs and understand how to interact with them respectfully. I will follow your dog's usual routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, exercise needs and any special requirements, so they feel comfortable and settled while in my care.

Let me know of any dietary requirements for on the go treats of if feeding time happens at daycare ! I am a mother of two young children, 5 and 3 years so I'm looking for early mornings and afternoon hours mainly however I could still accommodate you. Dogs are welcome in our bed but we also have space for a crate if that's what you prefer. * I don't drive therefore I am reliant on public transportation. Dogs will be walked locally to your area As a stay at home mam I'm home 24/7. I operate between a 6am-10pm for dog sitting to accommodate those starting work early or ending later etc. Your dogs meal times will be incorporated during their stays just let me know when you prefer them to be fed and what (I usually ask owners to provide food themselves just to avoid any allergies or dietary requirements) As a dog sitter/boarder, you dog will be staying in a family home. A full house of 2 young children (4+5yrs) myself and my male partner. All dogs are welcome on our sofa and even in our bed (if that is what you allow) we do have some steep stairs to the upstairs area which can be off limits to dogs that are older or have issues with joints etc. A small enclosed yard out the back which the gate is closed at all times however the wall and fence are no bigger than 5ft. The yard is washed down for hygiene purposes.
“First time using a dog sitter and my 4yr old Cockapoo was absolutely fine. It was great knowing he was with an experienced dog sitter and with other dogs for company. Will definitely be using again.”

About: I am QLS Level 3 Animal Care, Pet First Aid & Pet CPR qualified, and carry a pet first aid kit with me at all times. I am a passionate animal lover; I volunteered for Sheffield Retired Greyhound Trust until I moved to the North East in 2024, spending my Saturday mornings caring for and walking rescue greyhounds. I grew up with two of my own dogs. I have been providing dog walking services since 2017, and daycare and boarding since 2019, meaning I have over 15 years of experience taking care of dogs. 🐶 I have a calm and quiet home, and can provide enrichment and plenty of attention, especially if your dog loves a sofa cuddle! I pride myself in being reliable and communicative, so you know your dog is in the best hands. I live near Rainton Meadows Nature Reserve, and hold a Durham Wildlife Trust membership to walk dogs in a variety of different places so they don't get bored. 🌳 I organise a pre-meet before all boarding bookings to check that you and your dog feel comfortable with me, my partner Cal, and our home, to make sure we're a good fit for your dog and vice versa. We don't have any of our own pets, and I only care for one family's pets at a time, to ensure I can provide the best one to one love and care; a real home away from home. 🥰 When your dog is in my care, I treat them as if they were my own. I will provide you with regular photo 'pupdates' on how they are and what they're getting up to. 🐾 I work from home, so I can offer boarding and daycare for dogs and small furries (separately, or together if from the same famiy). I can only cater for dogs with separation anxiety for daycare, but not for boarding. I live in a calm and quiet detached house with a decent sized fenced-in garden, with my partner Cal. We don’t have any of our own pets, and I only care for one family’s pets at a time, to ensure I can provide the best one to one love and care.

Dog owners share their Rover experiences - County Durham
Pepper had the best time with Rosie (& the gang) this week. He spent 4 fantastic days in Rosie’s very capable hands. He was taken on stimulating walks, fun runs, a day trip to the seaside with balls thrown, swimming and splashing around. In addition to all of the exercise he was given so much love, care and attention. He was eager for the front door to be opened every morning when I dropped him off so he could get into Rosie’s house as soon as possible to start his day with her. I was also super impressed with Rosie and the gang and I was at ease from the moment I left Pepper in Rosie’s care. Rosie has a genuine and sincere love and affection for dogs and you’d be hard pushed to find someone to care for your dog who does it better than Rosie.

Thank you to Lynn for looking after our dogs for an afternoon while we went to a football match. We could see from photos how content our two gordon setters were both snuggled up to her sitting on the floor. We look forward to leaving Daisy and Bella with her in the future.

Your dog’s first day care experience is a big milestone! To help your pup settle in comfortably, we recommend:
- Food and treats portioned for the day, with feeding instructions
- Your dog's lead and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)
- Any seasonal gear, such as paw-safe wax for winter or a cooling vest for the summer
- Medication, if applicable, with clear dosage notes
- Any special care instructions or training tips to help your sitter provide the most personalised care possible
Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
