“Would highly recommend Ella-Marie. She was always on time and left feedback after every walk. Photos and updates always gave us peace of mind whilst we were away that Harley was looked after on his walks.”

About: I absolutely adore pets, especially dogs. I have always been surrounded by dogs between friends, family, and my own dog who sadly passed away recently. I love going on walks or just keeping dogs company at home. Pets are so important, so it’s key to look after them properly. I am moving home for the summer break from university and am looking for some extra money doing something I love. I work for a catering company so my schedule is incredibly flexible. I live with my parents and have a fenced garden. There are multiple parks within half and hour and I love going for walks! My parents both adore dogs, and I have previously looked after dogs in our home.
About: A happy hello, we're Debbie and Dave, dog lovers and cat cuddlers. We've 40+ FIVE STAR reviews on another pet sitting platform (just ask for a link). We recently joined Rover, but on other sites, we've cared for dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, a hamster, and a pig. 100% of our FIVE STAR reviews have come from real pet parents who've trusted us to care for their pets. We're fully insured and are non smokers. Now for the fun bit: WE ADORE FURRY SNUGGLES! We're so happy to have shared our "official" pet/house sitting journey with 70+ furry friends PLUS a colony of 12 outdoor cats, and 22 feathery friends, and we're delighted (OVER THE MOON!) when we're asked back for return sits. We are a couple, which means pets get double the cuddles, attention, and love for the price of one. It's especially helpful for multiple pets, and energetic dogs or those that pull on the lead. We have had many loved pets ourselves over the years, but none of our own nowadays. Between us our own pets in the past have included dogs, cats, rabbits, gerbils, fish, a duck, and a parrot, but none of our own nowadays. So how did our pet sitting life begin?... We used to care for our son’s Boston Terrier as he worked away a lot, but he moved to Spain, and took Dory (our grand-pup) with him, and they're now settled with a family of their own in Spain. That's when our thoughts of pet sitting began, having a void in our lives with them gone, and being unable to have pets with travelling to visit them for extended periods. We LOVE pet sitting, but what began as a way to top up our hearts with furry snuggles, fast became an amazing full-time way of life, filled with fun and furry characters. In 2023, we turned our own home into a holiday cottage while we spent time with fun and furry new friends. On the house-sitting side of things, we've plenty of experience, from owning our own home, owning rental properties, and carrying out refurbishments on our various properties too. Also, I (Debbie) used to own a cleaning business that employed 12 staff until I sold it many years ago. Therefore, we are used to caring for properties, and have a common-sense approach, should anything unknown happen, like frozen pipes or power cuts. We live a quiet life, we're polite and friendly with neighbours, we're well-behaved, and house trained! Some pets just don't settle very well in kennels, catteries, and other people's homes, and we'd love to help if we can, so please feel free to ask any questions. We're very friendly and more than happy to answer anything. PS If you haven't had anyone stay in your home to look after your pets before, you'll find us very easy to chat with. We care for pets the way that suits each pet's individual needs and characteristics. With feeding times and walks, we're totally flexible around your particular pet's needs, and what makes them happy. We're fully ensured, non-smokers. From dog walking to cat cuddling, we love surrounding ourselves with animals. We also care for pets in their own homes while their owners take a well deserved trip, this means the only thing that changes is the person who is caring for them and giving them strokes and affection. So they can stay where they are happiest, with familiar smells and surroundings. Medication/Extra TLC: We've cared for many pets on various types of medication, with many different ailments, just ask for more details. We have a soft spot for those that need a little extra TLC and the elderly ones too. Shy or timid pets: Pets warm to us very quickly to us, and our reviews are testimony to that. We're fantastic with those that are shy, timid, and afraid of the world. We've 40+ FIVE STAR reviews on another pet sitting platform. Just ask for the link.
“Sam is great with Luna. She can be quite a fussy and nervous dog but it is clear that Sam endeavours to accommodate all of his clients. Within less than one week Luna has already accepted Sam, and he is working hard to find out more about her. So excited to see how she flourishes in confidence. Thank you Sam!”

About: I’ve grown up around animals and have always had a strong love for pets. I’ve had a cat since I was young and have helped with caring for my family dog for the past six years, so I’m very familiar with daily routines like feeding, walking, and giving lots of attention. I’ve also helped look after pets for family members, which has given me experience with different types of animals and personalities. I’m reliable, gentle, and always make sure pets feel comfortable, safe, and happy while in my care. I am currently a student at Durham university so have all summer to play and care for your animals:) I have lots of experience with walking and playing outside. Beaches and big fields are my favourite I am flexible and can take pets to my house with a lovely field near by for them to play in. Or I can come to you and help that way:)

About: I have grown up with dogs my whole life, caring for numerous dogs of all different types and sizes. I am finishing up my PhD in genetics, I have a passion for animals and have volunteered in multiple animal sanctuaries and I especially love taking care of dogs. I have an active lifestyle and this makes it easy for me to tire out some of the more energetic dogs. Your dog will get lots of love and everything will be done to make sure your pet has a wonderful stay. Look forward to hearing from you! :)

About: I am currently a full-time firefighter but due to shift work, it means I have a lot of time off of work. I have a huge passion for animals and believe their welfare is as important as any humans. From working as a firefighter means I have developed skills around approaching animals safely and calmly. Understanding animal behaviour, and handling aggressive or frightened animals. I am training in providing basic first aid and life support to animals. Due to working shifts means I have a huge amount of flexibility throughout the week. I only have two days where I am unavailable throughout the day. I will always try to accommodate whatever is best for the client whether that is weekends, late nights, early mornings or multiple visits through the day. I will always have respect for owners homes when it comes to pet sitting. Any rules you would like me to follow I will be obliged to. The home will be left as good as it was before I entered. The care of the pet will always be the main priority of my service.
About: I’m a dog mom to a Siberian Husky mix, and I’ve been caring for dogs since 2015. Over the years, I’ve raised and trained both puppies and rescue dogs, volunteered with animal shelters and rescue groups, and fostered dogs of all sizes and temperaments. I understand that every dog has their own unique personality and needs, and I treat each one with the same love, patience, and respect I give my own. I’d love to care for your pup and make them feel happy, safe, and loved while you’re away! I have plenty of flexibility to care for pets throughout the day. I can provide regular walks, playtime, and attention based on each dog’s routine and needs. I follow your pet’s routine, keep things tidy, and give them lots of love and attention. I want them to feel safe, happy, and right at home while you’re away.

About: I've been pet and house sitting with my mum since I was a teen. I have experience training puppies, caring for kittens, pet sitting dogs of all ages and have great connections with cats and dogs alike! Couch potatoes or energetic toy chasers, all welcome with me!! I'm currently a student at Durham University who has submitted my dissertation and finished exams! I'm free to hang out, walk and play with any pets that need some company! I live in student accomodation in Durham City, very close to parks, river walks and forest trails. I also have experience pet sitting in other homes, always respectful and careful not to interfere with the home or the pet's routines.
About: For as long as I can remember, my family and I have had pet companions to share our love with. I grew up with two cats before our dog Phoebe joined the family. Sadly, I had to leave them in my parents and sister’s care when I moved to university (or maybe the other way round). Since then, I have been requesting daily updates on them so I understand an owner’s unwavering obsession with their companion’s well being and will gladly send updates by the minute if need be! I used to fill the gaps in time spent away from my guys by volunteering to petsit for friends and family. With this experience I realised how the feeling of responsibility may increase when I’m looking after someone else’s pet while the enjoyment I get from their presence does not change. So I can comfortably say that this job would be nothing less than a pleasure. My accommodating student schedule also means that I’m free to spend time with your little amigos whenever necessary! As a PPE student, most of my lectures are condensed around noon leaving my mornings, evenings and weekend’s free for the most part. Although I have social commitments outside of my course these tend to be very flexible and can be rescheduled when I get the chance to chill out with your pet for a while! I always like to make sure that a pet’s safety and health comes first by taking care of all their needs specified by their owner and am comfortable giving them any form of regular medicine they may need. Other than that I enjoy an active lifestyle so would be keen to walk or play with your pets whenever you or they feel is necessary.
About: Along working part time at the age of 19 in 2024 I took on dog walking through a small business in Teeside for 17 months, I studied animal management for both cats and dogs for 2 years where animal welfare was essential Pet care fits in my weekly routine naturally, I currently own 2 cats, a dog and a rabbit which all require specific animal needs daily. I care for pets solely by the animal owners needs and preferences for the animals welfare both in dog walking and dog/cat sitting. Being fed, exercised and socialising regularly and needed is essential.

About: I've had a dog for more than half my life, helping train her from a puppy both within and outside of classes. During this, I have also walked dogs for family and friends regularly. Occasionally I have helped to petsit dogs too, ensuring that there is no hostility between them and my own dog. I am currently on university student, on my summer holiday until September, so I am almost always available to take care of dogs. while I am looking for work, it will be part time or temporary so my schedule will remain incredibly flexible. I can care for dogs however is needed according to their own needs, letting them outside on or off lead, keeping them in certain areas, giving regular walks and keeping them entertained.
About: I have a year of hands-on pet care experience, and caring for dogs has been part of my life for years — my family used to run a German Shepherd dog farm. This taught me discipline, confidence, and how to understand dogs’ behaviour. I’m kind, reliable, and I treat every pet like my own, including pets that need extra attention such as senior dogs. In terms of availability, I work from home on Fridays, so I can fully commit to pet sitting that day, as well as weekends. I’m also happy to do evening walks during the week. When caring for pets in my home or the owner’s home, I prioritise safety, routine, and comfort. I follow the owner’s instructions closely (feeding, walks, playtime) and keep the environment secure by checking doors/gates and removing anything unsafe. During walks, I use safe handling and avoid risky situations. I’m calm, attentive, and happy to give regular updates with photos for reassurance.
About: I am a 36 year old hospitality consultant living and working in County Durham. I live with my fiance and our dog, a 4 year old corgi named Ibra. She is super friendly and trusting! We all love to spend time with animals and are confident in our abilities to take care of pets no matter their size, age or needs. I feel so lucky to be able to meet and look after other dogs in my spare time - and it’s great for Ibra to socialise! We loves walks in the forest close to our house and have a secure back garden, plus plenty of space indoors! We look forward to meeting you :) I work full time but arrange my schedule so that I have busy weeks and then free days off in blocks! My availability is always up to date in the app, but it’s difficult to say how things ‘usually’ are, as the free time could be mornings, evenings, weekdays, weekends etc! I live in a ground floor apartment surrounded by lots of green spots and close to the botanical gardens. The building had a roof terrace which is rarely used - so it’s perfect to take some water, snacks and toys up there and let the dogs off the leash! It’s is perfectly safe, and surrounded by a complete glass barrier. I’m lucky to currently be able to choose when I work and i am enjoying having a relaxing spring! My calendar will always be updated and I wouldn’t put myself as available if I could be distracted by anything work related. I live on a quiet estate in a house with a nice garden, and we have a nice amount of space indoors too. There are plenty of walking opportunities close by, cycle paths and forest walks etc.
About: I had a cocker spaniel until recently but unfortunately she had to be rehomed. I love dogs and grew up with them. I live alone in a nice estate surrounded by great dog walks. I work full time Monday -Friday but weekends and evenings are free and I have some Mondays and Fridays off. I can also work from home during the week so weekdays for daycare are also a possibility. Enclosed back garden and your dog would have full use of my house, or whatever rules you want in place. I’m a dog lover and I would love to have the company of your pet. I have some Mondays and Fridays off. I generally work 8-4pm Monday - Friday but I can work from home and my evenings and weekends are free. I have a rear enclosed garden with a 6ft high fence, grass and paved area with plenty of plants and greenery. It’s not a huge garden but enough for your pet to have a little run around. I would want the dog to be happy and in my company with plenty of walks, cuddles, sitting beside me etc.

Dog owners share their Rover experiences - County Durham
Ella had my dog Arlo stay with her a couple of nights and walked him also whilst I was away on holiday. I was impressed with the level of care and attention she gave. Plenty of updates and photos during the stay and during walks. Would highly recommend and will definitely use Ella again.

Tegan looked after my little springer and poodle whilst I was away. She was amazing and my little pooches enjoyed there walks with her. She updated me regularly whilst I was away with photos and videos. I would definitely book her again and hope she will continue to do future walks with them. Thanks Tegan xxxx

She was absolutely fabulous with my reactive rescue! Took time to understand Lucy and build trust with her. Followed our instructions in handling Lucy when she got stressed. Also very accommodative with short notice requests. Would definitely be booking her again and can't recommend her enough!
