“Lauren initially arranged a meet and greet and asked all of the right questions. She made friends with Evie quickly and made us both feel really comfortable. Evie was very excited to return for her day care and had a glowing report when I picked her up. Lauren provided 2 updates throughout the day including a picture. Thanks again Lauren for taking such good care of her whilst I had a long work day! We will definitely be booking again 😊”

About: As proud owners of our own wire-haired dachshund Gus, we know just how much our dogs mean to us. We offer plenty of love, attention, walks and cuddles in a safe and caring home. Every dog is treated like part of our family, and we will keep you updated with photos and messages so you can relax whilst you’re away. Both myself and my wife are able to work from home during the week on regular basis, as pet care is a priority with our own dog. Therefore, if caring for your dog we would ensure someone would be able to care for them every day. I have a fenced garden with plenty space for your dog to run around and play with our own dog. If necessary or preferred our own dog was crate trained and slept in a crate until very recently. Any visits to check on dogs will be done at times best suited to individual dogs and walks/play time will always be p provided. We have done this regularly for dogs in our own families.

“Fantastic sitter - so happy with Jessica. She made both dogs feel completely at home. Felt at ease with her straight away and could tell she genuinely loves dogs. So reassuring and took great care of my two nervous little noodles xx”

“Hannah looked after my 11-week-old puppy for two days, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. As it was my first time leaving such a young puppy with a dog sitter, I was a bit anxious, but Hannah put me completely at ease from the moment we met. She kept me updated throughout the day with messages and photos. It was clear that my puppy was well cared for and in safe hands the entire time. I’ve already booked with her again for a few weeks time, I would recommend to anyone looking for a dog sitter ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

“Alla has been amazing with our dog for daycare for the last couple of weeks. We get great of updates of how he is doing along with amazing photos/videos throughout the day. Alla has also been incredibly flexible to work around our schedule, along with picking him up/dropping him off. I would highly recommend for daycare!”

“My 5-month old whippet puppy, Henderson, spent the day with Pheobe when I had to go into work and he obviously had a great time! He’s come home a happy and tired boy - the sign of a good day! Pheobe sent pics and an update during the day which was great for peace of mind. Really appreciate the care given to Henderson today, and both myself and him look forward to his next doggy daycare - thanks Pheobe!!”

“Our dog has been staying in the day with Louise the last few weeks. He's generally quite nervous but always seems to be happy heading over to her house in the morning. He gets plenty of walks and we love getting the updates of how he's getting on!”

“This was the first time that we had ever left Jasper in doggy day care. We could not have been more pleased. Rosalind and Charles were the ideal carers - experienced, calm and reassuring. We feel that Jasper had the best experience and we were kept informed with how well he was settling in, with a photo which put our minds at rest. We would not hesitate to use them again. Thank you!”

“Milo had a fantastic day with Alex and his dog Kaia, we received plenty of updates, videos and photos throughout the day which kept us at ease knowing he was settling in well! Alex was extremely responsive and clearly communicated throughout the booking process and whilst Milo was at his house, giving us an early update to reassure us he was all good! He obviously had a great time as he’s been fast asleep since we got home didn’t want to leave when picking him up. Thanks so much Alex, Milo will be visiting again for sure!”

About: Hi! I’m a reliable, caring, and enthusiastic dog lover who genuinely enjoys spending time with dogs of all shapes and sizes. I’ve looked after dogs for friends, family, and neighbours over the years, giving me experience with a variety of breeds, personalities, and ages. I have a large fenced garden that is fully secure for your dog to enjoy. More than happy to accommodate different requirements, please just let me know in advance.
“Andrew took the time to meet us and get to know our dog before we booked, and kept us updated throughout the day with pics - will definitely be booking again when we need someone to watch our pup :)”

“Huge thank you to Brooke for helping us out at such short notice. I highly recommend Brooke. She was so thoughtful around Tyr's needs as an anxious dog, and looked after him so well. It was lovely to receive lots of photos and updates while he was with her. He definitely had a great time and I will absolutely ask Brooke to take care of him in the future.”

About: I have previous experience as a dog walker and cat sitter. I have grown up with multiple animals in the home and trained my family dog to pass his therapy dog exams last year. I am currently working part time so I have plenty of time to entertain your pets! I am also on a very flexible schedule so can adapt if your pets have any special requirements or if I am needed to be there for constant care. I have two cats in my own home so I am unable to house pets in my house as I don’t want to cause them or your own pet any undue stress!
“Bailey really settled in great with Josh. She got taken out for walks and got plenty zoomies in, being a whippet this is her favorite pastime. I would not hesitate to book Josh again very reliable.”

Emily looks after my golden boy, Max, and I’m so glad I found her. She treats him like her own, and he has the best time playing with her gorgeous golden, Reggie! Max always runs straight to the door and doesn’t even look back to say goodbye, which says it all! It’s so reassuring knowing he’s being well looked after, and the photos Emily sends always make me smile. If you’re looking for someone to care for your fur baby, don’t look any further, Emily is amazing!

Colette was excellent. She proposed a free meet up before hand so that we could both assess the suitability of the other which I really appreciated. It was great to know that Thea was going to get along with her and Reggie. She sent regular photos and clearly tried to follow the ‘structure’ we’d asked her to follow for Thea’s eating and, critically, sleeping. Colette was friendly and confident and clearly knew her stuff which put me at ease. Reggie, despite being 5 x the weight of Thea, looks to have got on really well and is a gentle giant despite his own young years. We will absolutely be happy to use Colette again.

This was the first time we had left Travis with anyone other than family or friends. Douglas got in contact straight away and made sure he knew everything he needed to before Travis spent the day with him and his family. He also ensured we knew what to expect which made us feel better about leaving him with someone new. Douglas was very welcoming in the morning when Travis was dropped off and showed him love from the second he arrived. There were pictures and updates throughout the day which was lovely and again, offered a lot of reassurance that Travis was doing just fine. I know that Travis was welcomed and loved for the day which is exactly what we wanted! Thank you so much for everything.

Your dog’s first day care experience is a big milestone! To help your pup settle in comfortably, we recommend:
- Food and treats portioned for the day, with feeding instructions
- Your dog's lead and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)
- Any seasonal gear, such as paw-safe wax for winter or a cooling vest for the summer
- Medication, if applicable, with clear dosage notes
- Any special care instructions or training tips to help your sitter provide the most personalised care possible
Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee.
