“Brilliant !!! Our 2 dogs loved it and the family made us welcome, we felt very secure that the dogs would get a 5 star treatment . The pictures and video they sent were reassuring and we now have a dog sitter that delivers everything we require”

“Yvonne and David are so lovely, we felt from the meet & greet that our boys would be well looked after, and they definitely were! They dealt with Kenny's anxiety and Geoff's general grumpiness so well, we weren't ever worried about them. We also got great pics and videos, absolutely going to rebook.”

“We had such a great experience leaving Vader with them and honestly couldn’t have asked for better care From the start they were friendly, polite, and really easy to communicate with, which made the whole process feel stress-free. While we were away, they kept us updated with regular photos and videos, which we really appreciated, and it was so reassuring to see how happy and settled he was. It was obvious Vader was completely comfortable and having the best time (I genuinely think he would’ve happily stayed longer!!) They really embraced his personality as well, even his obsession with bringing his collection of sticks in the house lol, which made it feel like he was properly understood and cared for, not just “looked after.” When we picked him up he was absolutely exhausted, which says everything; clearly lots of walks, playtime, and attention. We wont hesitate to book with them again and would 100% recommend them to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, caring, and genuinely great with dogs”

“Rebecca was fantastic and bruno really enjoyed his stay with her family and making friends with her dog Douglas. Rebecca kept myself and my partner updated during bruno's stay with plenty of pictures and messages to re assure us he was safe and loving his life. Bruno will definitely be returning ☺️”

“Left our 3 year old Labrador with Jake this past weekend and Jake was very good with him. His communication with messages, photos and video was excellent. Our dog is typical in that he needs loads of exercise and Jake took him out as much as he could. We’ve got no complaints with Jake and will use him again and would recommend him to everyone.”

“Erin and Alex were fantastic! Could not rate them highly enough. Sent me so many lovely photos, videos and messaging updates throughout Floyd's stay whilst we were on holiday. I felt like they did a brilliant job looking after Floyd and he seemed to have the best time! Will definitely be looking to book them in the future 😊”

“This was our first time using a dog sitter, and I was a little nervous, but Brianna was fantastic. She took great care of our dog Betsy, kept me updated with messages and photos, and made the whole experience stress-free. My dog was happy and well looked after. I would definitely recommend her and would happily book with her again. Thank you!”

“Jessica is a lovely, warm and friendly person and has an obvious love and enthusiam for dogs. Our dog Dexter had an overnight stay with Jessica when we visited Gateshead and he had a wonderful time, going for walks and making friends with Jessica's own dog. We had great communication before and during Dexter's stay. As we left Dexter was virtually hugging Jessica goodbye! I'm only sorry we live so far away as I would use Jessica on a regular basis and will do so if we visit the area again, I can't recommend her highly enough.”

“So glad we chose Emma to care for our dog when we had a 5 day break away. She was really helpful and kept us updated with photos and messages daily. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who needs their dog looked after and will definitely use her again if/when needed. Thanks Emma”

About: I’ve grown up caring for dogs, including my own Shih Tzu, so I understand their needs and personalities deeply. I’m gentle, patient, and great with both playful pups and senior dogs. I focus on comfort, trust, and keeping each dog happy, safe, and loved—just like they deserve. I work part-time on weekends from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m., so I’m free most afternoons and weekdays to walk, play, and care for dogs. Spending time with them fits easily into my routine—it’s something I truly enjoy and look forward to every day! I treat every dog as if they were my own. In a pet owner’s home, I follow their routine carefully—feeding, walking, and playtime just as instructed. I make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved, keeping their space clean and cozy while giving them plenty of attention and affection.

“Lauren has looked after our two staffies twice now and we couldn’t happier with the level of care. She’s brilliant at sending regular updates and great at wrangling our big bundles of energy. My anxious (rescue) Chihuahua was instantly comfortable at the meet and greet and came home from his overnight stay happy and relaxed. I’m delighted and my dog is already looking forward to a week’s holiday with Csilla.”

“I could not recommend Jenny enough! Beautiful person and she clearly knows what she’s doing when it comes to dogs! She looked after our 4 cockers and as nervous owners doing this the first time she really set our minds at ease. Would definitely use her again! 5* service.”

Laura was absolutely fantastic with Joey from start to finish. She was so friendly, helpful and accommodating, and it was obvious how much she genuinely cares about the dogs she looks after. Joey settled in so quickly and looked completely comfortable and happy in her home. She kept me updated and was an absolute pleasure to deal with throughout. I wouldn’t hesitate to leave Joey with Laura again and would highly recommend her.

When we left Milly and Marley we were more than a little apprehensive as we have never left them with anyone before .but I have to say we couldn’t have left them in more safer hands the photographs and video updates were more than enough to keep us updated on their stay they loved their stay and I would highly recommend anyone unsure on where to leave their fur babies to look no further than Avi..AMAZING ❤️

Julie was amazing with Joey. She made him feel right at home, was so loving and caring, and kept me updated with lots of photos throughout his stay. She really took the time to understand his needs and adapted to him effortlessly. It was clear how much she cared for him, and I wouldn’t hesitate to leave Joey with Julie again. Highly recommend!

Gus really enjoyed his time with Adam I can’t believe how well settled they made him. I know how demanding he can be and have never seen him so happy and calm when I returned from holiday. I would definitely recommend using Adam. He kept us informed on how Gus was doing with photos and messages to help keep our piece of mind.

Perfect as always! Arthur has had a great time and made a doggy friend who he is missing already! Michaela is great with his special diet and making sure he is walked first thing when it is this hot. She is great with giving updates, photos and making sure he is really well taken care of.

Rachel was outstanding from start to Finish! I can’t recommend her enough. The best in the business. She will Be the only person we leave our dog with when it’s needed. I thank Rachel so much as she constantly put us at ease, sent pictures and lots of messages. Thank you

Gabe and his partner were absolutely fantastic! They looked after my affectionate Labrador over the weekend with care, fun, and all the attention he could wish for. They even took him to a farmers' market and the local park. Daily pictures and updates kept my mind at ease and filled me with joy that he received so much attention and cuddles. Highly recommended sitters! Will be booking them again without hesitation.

You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
