I'm a full-time mum so really flexible. I can easily tailor walks into my day, based on the type and level of exercise your dog requires.

My home is a spacious bungalow with a large enclosed garden. There's lots of grass which energetic guests love zooming around on and plenty of interesting trees, bushes and garden ornaments for curious noses to sniff out. On warm/dry days the patio doors stay open so there is constant access. Indoors I always set up at least one of the bigger sofas to be dog-friendly (unless you don't allow that in your own home). For overnight stays I don't allow dogs into the bedroom areas at night-time. They sleep in the open plan kitchen/diner which is over 60 square meters. I'm a light sleeper so can pick up on anything during the night, popping through as needed to ensure they are settled.

Information Julie M. would like to know about your pet
The main things I need to know are how they are around children/people/other dogs - we spend a lot of time as a family with other kids and pooches so please consider this when booking. For boarding I always invite you to my house for the Meet&Greet, where I will run through a range of questions to get as much info upfront as possible. This can take about 30 minutes but is a great opportunity for your dog to get to know my family, the house and the garden.
A typical day
A typical day would start with a lovely walk around the local area, whether that be Sunniside Park or Watergate Forest Park. For dogs who need to stay on lead we can spend some time playing in the garden back at home to burn off a bit more energy. Whatever I am doing throughout the day will be dog friendly and I often link up with friends who also have dogs for nice long walking adventures. At weekends we typically explore the Derwent on Saturdays, incorporating a dog friendly cafe which offers a range of canine treats.

Pet care experience
Hi, my name is Julie, I love animals and before having children and a corporate career, I ran my own business from home with the time to raise a beautiful Rhodesian Ridgeback (see photos). I am now a full-time mum and since the pandemic I have been spending more time providing a second home for friends’ dogs while they are on holidays, but I do miss the walks and cuddles when they go home…this led me to Rover. I am experienced with a broad range of dog sizes, ages and temperaments, from laid back labradors to spirited spaniels, so the care I provide will be carefully tailored to you and your dog. On walks we’ll happily explore your local area together, or, with your agreement, we can jump in my car and head off into the lovely countryside we have around the North East, including National Trust sites, woodlands, beaches, nature parks and the Derwent valley. Daycare/Boarding: your dog will become a treasured member of my family while they stay, with a busy house and two kids to play with (aged 12 and 15). I often walk with friends who also have dogs and enjoy taking advantage of dog-friendly cafes/venues. Kindly bear all of this in mind when selecting these services. Please do message me with any questions 😊
Reviews

Superb - kind and professional. I, we, and my family in general would recommend Julie in a heartbeat. Second to none attention to detail, clear communication and above all a clearly great natural ability to build rapport with dogs and care for them as a home away from home. Thanks again Julie.

Once again Bess had a super stay with Julie and her family.

Once again George has been spoilt rotten with Julie even braving a storm to get the walkies in

Rolo had a great time! Went on so many walks and was always busy. Thank you for looking after him so well and giving us plenty of messages and pictures.
