Kirsty looked after Honey for two nights, Honey settled in straight away and was very comfortable. Kirsty made her feel at home and had lots of toys for Honey to play with. She also made sure Honey had plenty of outdoor time with walks in the woods and the beach and provided us with lots of updates. Would definitely recommend Kirsty, she is an excellent dog boarder and we will be booking again!

Judith was amazing. At very short notice looked after Amber. Gave regular updates. Amber seemed to think it was her home from home. I think she had a great time. We will definitely be using Judith again.

About: I've always had pets, dogs and cats. Since losing my dog and cat a few years ago, I have missed having a furbaby. I have worked for various animal rescue organisations, here in the UK, Singapore and China, and have lots of experience in caring for and owning a dog. I also completed a animal behaviour course and have 30 years experience in caring for cats and dogs of all ages and sizes. I would love to look after your dog in my home. As I live in Northumberland there are many beaches and walks in the area, plus I have a large garden which your pooch would love to run around. I can't wait to meet you and your dog and welcome them into my home, giving you peace of mind while you are away. I'm retired and I will have plenty of time to walk, play and take care of your dog. Your dog will become part of our family while its with us and will join us on beach walks and outings. My home has a doubled fenced large garden so lots of space to run around. Your furbaby will have a space on the sofa and the bed and will be looked after as if they were my own.

Jack's first (and definitely NOT his last!) stay with Ros & Charles. They welcomed Jack into their home & looked after him so well for us, he settled in straight away. He's an anxious border collie, but they took all his "foibles" into their plans, and made sure he was always happy. We had regular updates & some lovely photos. He got 10/10 on his end of stay report - lots of positive feedback! Ros & Charles have a wonderfully safe enclosed garden, and live on a nice quiet road, so it was perfect for Jack. Looking forward to booking him in with them again soon! Highly recommended.

Anna and her husband looked after Koko over the weekend and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. They were very responsive from the start and kept us updated throughout his stay with messages, photos, and videos, which gave us real peace of mind. They were both incredibly supportive and helpful, and it was clear that Koko was well cared for and comfortable. I truly think he really enjoyed his little staycation with them! We would absolutely recommend Anna and her husband and wouldn’t hesitate to book with them again.

I almost don’t want to leave a review as when something you’ve found I so good you want to keep it to yourself. That wouldn’t be fair in Anna or the other dogs out there that need a home from home with a family who adores dogs. Oscar had the time of his life and I will be using Anna and her family for Oscar a lot! Thank you Anna.

Julie was new to Rover when we booked, but after a call I felt totally reassured to leave Pingo with her. She asked all the right questions and took interest in Pingo's routine and needs. We had frequent updates during the stay, Pingo had at least as good a holiday as we did, maybe even better! Thanks Julie.

About: I've adored animals for as long as I can remember, especially dogs. Growing up around them, they’ve always been a huge part of my life and honestly never felt like “just pets” to me, they’re family. After losing my beloved Labrador last year, I started caring for other people’s dogs to help fill that quiet space, and I quickly realised how much joy it brought me. What began as helping friends and family turned into something I genuinely love, so much so that I decided to leave my fulltime job and pursue dog care full time. I understand how important it is to feel comfortable leaving your dog with someone else, and I treat every dog as if they were my own. Whether your dog loves long walks, cuddles on the sofa, playtime, or just calm company, I’ll make sure they feel safe, loved and happy while they’re with me. I’m reliable, patient and attentive to each dog’s individual personality and needs, and I’ll always keep you updated with photos and messages for peace of mind. I can’t wait to meet your furry best friend and make a new friend for myself 💕 I recently left my fulltime job so I can be available all day/night to look after/walk/play with your dog. They will have all my time I have a large fenced garden and yard so any fury friend will be safe and have lots of room to explore. In the village I live there are alot of great walks that is popular for dog walking so your dog would have plenty adventures if required.

This was the first time leaving Ralph for more than 2 nights and couldn’t have felt more at ease leaving him with Zoe. We previously did a trial stay for 1 night so it was great to see how excited he was to see her when she arrived to pick him up - it instantly put us at ease 🤩 Zoe sent daily updates (videos and pics) and could tell immediately that he was relaxed and enjoying his time with her, they were clearly good pals. She had him out and about on day trips around the region and I was reassured that Ralph was having as good a holiday as us (if not better! 😂) I can’t recommend Zoe enough for her loving and caring nature and certainly won’t hesitate to have her look after Ralph next time we go away. Thank you 🙏🏼

I felt confident with Lindsey taking our Vizsla Frankie away for the day. She was lovely with her and asked what Frankie needed during her stay. I was delighted to receive photos of Frankie during the day reassuring me that she was ok. I would recommend Lindsey to look after any dog and will be using her again if she’ll have Frankie (our young and energetic dog) again.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in North East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
