“Georgia looked after our cockapoo puppy, Milo, for two days and we couldn't have asked for anyone better! It was the first time we'd ever left him, and she couldn't have made us feel more at ease. She kept us updated throughout with pictures, which was so reassuring, and it was clear Milo had the best time with Otis and Barney – it was like a little holiday for him! Georgia is so kind and caring, and we'll definitely be booking with her again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend her!”

“This was the first time at using a sitter for my pup. I was very anxious about leaving him as he hasn't left my whole side in the 2 years since he was diagnosed with epilepsy. Adele was just amazing, putting my mind at ease. Ollie had an amazing time. Very professional and lovely lady. Will definitely book again with Adele. Highly recommended.”

“Teddy had a wonderful time with Csilla and her daughter, he is an anxious boy but he settled in strait away. Csilla sent pictures and a video of Teddy playing in the garden. Although he greeted me enthusiastically when I went to collect him he was very happy to stay !! I’ve already booked two more stays and I would recommend Csilla to others without a second thought. Thank you for looking after my little man so well and treating him like one of the family.”

“Bella loved her stay with Sarah, in so much she's seems a bit down not to still be with her. We went away for a week and Sarah kept us up to date with daily photos and messages which showed bella having a great time . Friendly and helpful throughout Sarah let Bella have the run of the house and looked after her brilliantly. We will definitely use Sarah again and some of our friends have already made inquiries about they dogs. Many , many thanks to Sarah for a professional and smooth weeks stay .”

“Han looked after our dog for the first time this weekend and I have nothing but positive things to say. From the first meet and greet I felt very positive and had no worries or concerns about him staying. We were kept updated about his stay and recieved pictures throughout. We've already got his next stay booked! Thanks 😊”

“Emily is a lovely person who looked after my precious Westie recently . She provided me with lots of updates which is important to me and photos of Koura enjoying herself on walks on the beach as well as looking very chilled and comfy in Emily’s home . I would highly recommend Emily and will use her again when I’m in the area .”

“James took great care of disco and sent us regulars updates. He took him on long walks around the country park which he loved and made sure he had is medication every day. I’d encourage anyone who needs a hands on sitter to book with James. ☺️”

“Laura and Chris were superb sitters, I will definite be using them again (should the need arise) kept me informed and popped a few photos on for me. Great location for a dog or even 2, plenty of walking areas and as they have a closed off garden, the dogs enjoyed plenty of outdoor chilling. A big thank to the pair of them, I am very happy, and the dogs were too!”

“What a wonderful first experience leaving our dogs with home boarders. They were brilliant very informative and sent us lots of photos and videos of Dexter having so much fun even during a heat wave!”

“Rebecca was amazing looking after Milo! He stayed with her for 3 nights and it was clear he had a fantastic little holiday. She kept me updated throughout his stay with lots of photos and videos, which really reassured me and put me completely at ease while I was away. Milo looked so happy and was very well cared for, and I honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience. I would definitely book with Rebecca again and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and caring to look after their dog!”

“Charlotte was wonderful with our treasured cockapoo and we felt completely as ease whilst we were away for the night. We got regular updates and photos and videos and were completely reassured that Darcey was absolutely fine with Charlotte. We won’t hesitate to use Charlotte again to take care of Darcey 🐶❤️”

“What a brilliant person. Very calm and made me feel very calm and happy before Boris went to stay and while he was there - will definitely call Lewis again next time Boris needs a holiday”

“Rocco had a great stay with Harry and Jade - I am always wary of leaving him as he is a big strong dog and needs plenty of care, however I was instantly put at ease and knew he was in safe hands after meeting Harry and Jade. I received updates and photos throughout the visit and would be more than happy for Rocco to visit again 10/10”

“Nala had another great stay at Rebecca’s, this time for a week! There were no issues at all and communication was great. I would 100% recommend, and Nala will be visiting more often 😁”

“Another wonderful stay with Anthony for Jack. A daily update with photo or video was lovely to receive, and something we looked forward to each evening! Anthony was really patient with Jack - he's a very sensitive nervous dog, which can present its challenges, but Anthony did a great job with him. They had a lovely 9 mile walk together, which was great to hear. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Anthony, he's a superstar!”

“This was our first time using a dog sitter, and I was a little nervous, but Brianna was fantastic. She took great care of our dog Betsy, kept me updated with messages and photos, and made the whole experience stress-free. My dog was happy and well looked after. I would definitely recommend her and would happily book with her again. Thank you!”

“Claire was fantastic at looking after my dog, she gave regular updates through the day on what they’d been up to. I felt my dog was in a “home from home” environment and treated as part of Claire’s family.”

“Diane was an amazing host for our dog Belle. She has come back very happy after the week and she has clearly had fun. Belle spent time camping down the lakes and had a great time with their dog Niko. Would definitely use Diane again :)”

Steve and his family took great care of Sarge, my silver lab. It was quite last minute but Steve was more than happy to meet beforehand so that I could meet the family and see where Sarge would be staying for the night. I received plenty of updates, sarge settled in straight away and loved his little holiday! Will definitely be booking Steve again knowing that Sarge was happy there.

Highly recommend Megan she looked after my boy for just short of 2 weeks whilst we travelled abroad. Megan has fantastic communication, sent photos and kept me up to date which was massively reassuring and most importantly our boy was well looked after. Would use again.

Left our puppy for the 1st time with Hannah, she really put me at ease and Bobby took to her straight away. We had a few little chats before hand and on the night she sent me lots of messages and pictures. I will not hesitate to book Hannah again and highly recommend her if your looking for someone to look after your baby.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
