“morris was great with our cat tugboat, he followed all the instructions we left and gave us updates and photos every day, and was really responsive. tugboat needs a calmer approach and takes a while to warm up and morris got on great with that! we will happily be booking again :)”

“Katie was fabulous at looking after Ruby. Very professional in all of her communication and kept me fully up to date (with photos of a very happy hound!). I could see how happy and relaxed Ruby was in being looked after by Katie who was able to give her medication and take excellent care of her. Ruby can’t wait to see her again!”

About: I have experience taking care of both cats and dogs. I myself have a cat which I care for by myself so I'm confident that I'm reliable and responsible to be a good pet-sitter. I'm a full time university student but I don't spend that much time outside so pet sitting and dog walking are an amazing time to be more active while I'm doing things I love and helping people out! That said, if I don't have a lecture planned, I'm more than happy to meet your pets! I live in a complex with CCTV security and two locks. There's a small fence around the garden and regular check ins from the agency
About: I am a trustworthy and reliable student who adores animals and would love to help someone out. I have plenty of experience looking after a range of animals for my neighbours. I am currently in university and have a part time job but I am not in all day everyday and can be flexible to your needs. I will always share my availability of that week with you for full clarity! Learn their personality so I don’t push boundaries they aren’t comfortable with, I aim to do this initially through communication with owners about needs, expectations etc.

About: I’m a veterinary student with hands-on experience caring for animals of different ages, sizes and temperaments. I have done a range of volunteering/placement at different shelters and organisations. I’m confident handling energetic dogs as well as older pets who may need extra patience and attention. Through my studies and personal experience, I understand animal behaviour, health and safety, and husbandry. I always aim to make pets feel comfortable, cared for and happy while their owners are away. I’m reliable, communicative and genuinely love spending time with animals. I am in my summer holidays of uni with few other commitments so have plenty of time to look after and play with your pets! I enjoy keeping dogs physically and mentally stimulated with games, enrichment activities and exploring local parks and new walking routes. I always adapt to each dog’s energy levels and routine so they feel comfortable and happy.
“Stephanie is absolutely lovely! She was great with our little dog. As well, very accommodating and great communication. Fully recommend her and she’s welcome to spend time with our dog anytime”

About: Hi! I’m a cat lover with over 5 years of hands on experience caring for cats. I’ve fostered several cats in the past and often look after my friends’ cats when they are away. I truly enjoy spending time with all kinds of kitties and thankfully they seem to love me too! I currently live with my own lovely black cat who I adopted five years ago. She is my little baby and we spend time all together which builds a strong bond between us. Because of that, I completely understand how hard it can be to leave your furry baby behind when you are away. That is why I always make sure every cat I care for feels safe, loved and relaxed. Whether your cats need cuddles, quiet companionship or just someone to keep their routine going smoothly. I’m here to help!
“Natalia looked after my cat for 5 days when i was on holiday. She kindly came the day before to meet my cat and I before I went away. She sent photos and updated everyday. Thanks again!”

About: I am a reliable and caring sitter with experience looking after dogs in a safe, calm, and attentive environment. I have helped with feeding, walking, and keeping pets comfortable while their owners are away, making sure each dog gets the attention and exercise they need. I am confident handling different temperaments and always focus on building trust with both pets and owners. I take pride in being punctual, responsible, and treating every dog as if they were my own. I am currently a student at Newcastle university, so am able to work around my lectures, most evening and weekends. When at home I feed my cats everyday and clean there litter boxes I provide a safe, calm, and caring environment whether pets are in my home or I am caring for them in the owner’s home. In my home, I make sure pets have a comfortable space, stick to their usual feeding and walking routines, and give them plenty of attention, playtime, and supervision. I keep the environment clean and pet-friendly at all times. When caring for pets in an owner’s home, I follow their specific instructions closely, including feeding schedules, exercise, medication if needed, and maintaining the pet’s normal routine to reduce stress. I also keep owners updated with messages or photos for peace of mind. My priority is always to make pets feel safe, happy, and well cared for.
“We booked Anastasiia in for a brief sitting before she looks after Finn for 3 weeks. She’s polite and efficient in her responses to all queries. Finn loved her and we feel really comfortable having her watch over him (and the house) while we’re away.”

About: I grew up in a house with a lot of pets and have always loved spending time with, nurturing and caring for animals. Friends and family have relied on me to care for their pets, including puppies and older dogs, large and small I'm self employed so have a lot of time and energy to help you care for your pets and keep them active and healthy. I can provide walking or pet-sitting services during weekdays on a very flexible basis to best suit your schedule I have a safe and spacious flat in central Newcastle where I can care for cats and smaller dogs, but which might not be suitable for larger dogs. I can provide pet-sitting services at your home in this instance, if required
About: I’m a reliable and caring pet sitter who’s a little pet deprived! I’m from the USA but currently studying for my Masters in Newcastle, and I miss my dog and cat terribly. Alongside having pets of my own, I’ve also completed house sitting jobs where I’ve cared for dogs by feeding them, letting them out and playing with them while also caring after the home. I’m responsible, tidy and happy to follow your pets routine to keep things as normal as possible I’m currently working on writing my dissertation which I luckily can do from anywhere! All I need is wifi so my schedule is super flexible. I have a small studio for pets to roam around but I also live very close to parks and plenty of trails to take walks.
“Amazing!! Would thoroughly recommend Colie! We asked Colie to come to check on our puppy for an hour twice this week and she was fab! Such a nice person too! Fully trust her and we are going to ask her to come back! We received photos of him and then a report card with what went on in the hour which was lovely. Baxter says thank you! X”

About: Before coming to the UK, I was basically a mom of 7 dogs. Spending time with them is never tiring . Aren't they little angles ✨ I have flexibility since its summer and I have no school. Pet care just kinda slips into your day—like feeding your furry overlord when you wake up, going on poop patrol during walks, and brushing enough fur to make a second pet. Once a week, it’s spa day When I’m caring for pets—whether in my home or someone else’s—it’s all about creating a safe, cozy vibe they can trust. I pet-proof the space (no sneaky snacks or chewable cords!), stick to their routine so they feel secure, and shower them with affection
About: I was a dog owner of a Hungarian vizsla for 15 years (since I was age 7), and my dog had seven puppies which I helped to care for along with my family. So I do have lots of experience with dogs, whether it be dog walking, feeding dogs or clearing up dog litter. I'm looking for some dog therapy so I’ve made Rover my full time job! I love playing with dogs and I am always up for a cuddle with them. I will treat your dog as I would my own, with lots of love and affection. I am confident with all aspects of taking care of dogs because I just love them that much. I have a big house with space for your pet to run around, with a small fenced yard and Heaton park nearby to go on long walks. I am flexible with whatever times people need me to dog sit. Rover is my only job so I have lots of free time to take care of your pets, any ages or breeds of dogs welcome! I have a small fenced yard and there is also a park nearby I can take the dog on walks whatever the weather may be!
About: I’ve looked after dogs for most of my life, whether they’ve been my own family pets or for family and friends. At home I currently have a 1 year old working cocker which I really miss when I’m back up at uni. Having such a high energy dog means I feel like I can keep up with just about anything! I am a medical student so sometimes just having a dog to hang out with is much needed! I have put “no pets” as in my uni house I have not got pets. I am a medical student so I do tend to have quite a busy schedule but I also sometimes have half days which means I tend to get back just after midday. As I am now on my placement years I have a little less free time but I am always free in the evenings and I am completely free on weekends, all day and night. My schedule varies weekly but but it means that no days are ruled out every week! I have a valid DBS certificate. I can easily crate your pet if needed, and due to growing up with dogs and having looked after a fair few I know my way around keeping them safe and any precautions I would need to take. As I will be looking after your dog in your own home it will mean that they won’t be uprooted or in a new environment, so you won’t have to worry about them being somewhere you don’t know and they don’t know. I am very respectful so any house rules you may have I will ensure to follow E.g. if your pet isn’t allowed on the sofa I will continue to enforce that.
“Andreea looked after 3 of our families dogs all with complex needs one very excitable puppy and on with hearing issues and complications from cancer and they were well looked after and enjoyed Andreea’s company greatly.”

I would highly recommend Severine. She looked after my cat while I was away for a few days, and I came home to a very happy and relaxed Tilly, which says it all. Severine kept me updated daily and it gave me real peace of mind knowing Tilly was so well cared for. Thank you, Severine, for taking such wonderful care of her. I wouldn't hesitate to book with you again!

Tasha was great looking after our cat recently. Our cat is quite shy but took to Tasha straight away. Tasha had a lot of patience ensuring our cat came back home in the evening when he was quite naughty and took a while to come back. Would definitely recommend!

Kira looked after our cat Rosie whilst we were away and she was perfect! Kira kept us updated, sent pictures and i could tell she gave her lots of care and special attention! We came home to a very happy healthy kitty! Thank you Kira for being an amazing pet sitter! Will definitely recommend and re-book 😊

We are first-time Rover users, and hadn't previously had a cat sitter we didn't know, so were slightly nervous - but were delighted when we found Emily. She immediately inspired confidence, took careful note of what was needed, but most of all was obviously just a lovely person. Our cat took a shine to her and we felt very happy that she was being left in good hands. When we were away Emily kept us up to date with reports and photos. Definitely 5 stars!!

We absolutely loved all the updates Cheryl sent while we were away. She took amazing care of all our cats, and we're pretty sure they loved having her around too! It gave us real peace of mind knowing they were so well looked after. We would 100% recommend Cheryl to anyone looking for a pet sitter, and we'll definitely be using her again next time we're away. Thank you so much, Cheryl!

Ruth did a meet & greet and following this, came to look after our little pooch on short notice. Super communication at every step of the process and also sent photos and updates during the visit + a check in afterwards. I came back to a very happy doggy after they had lots of play time together! Highly recommend, your doggie will be in very safe hands with Ruth!

Hannah does a wonderful job of caring for my cat while I’m away, making sure he is well fed and well entertained! She is very trustworthy and reliable which gives me complete peace of mind leaving my cat in her care while I’m gone. She is an absolute star, I’ll definitely book with her again in the future ♥️

Janire looked after our elderly cat whilst we were away. I would highly recommend her, she was excellent - very diligent and kind with great communication throughout. she kindly helped us with some house issues that unexpectedly occurred whilst we were away too which we were very grateful for.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Newcastle upon Tyne choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a key safe. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalised codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in a flat, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or lift etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm.
