“Evie was great. We felt comfortable trusting her to look after Shadow (our cat) as soon as we met her. Shadow also took to her straight away which is rare! We got updates and photos every day so didn't have to worry while we were away. This was the first time we had left Shadow with a sitter and we will definitely be trusting Evie again!”

“Louise helped me out last minute when my daughter could no longer look after my dog. We arrange a meet and greet within days. Communication was brilliant and I loved all the pictures and knowing the times of when Louise was there with Karma. I get anxious as Karma is dog reactive but this didn’t put Louise off. I’d definitely book Louise again and recommend her to look after your pet.”

“Casey was great taking care of our cat, Steve. She sent us daily updates about how he was doing and how much he had eaten. Casey noticed about the house being too warm so opened up the windows while there.”

About: Hi, I’m Amey ☺️ I absolutely love dogs and spending time with them, whether that’s going for walks, giving them company or simply helping them feel safe and comfortable. I especially have a soft spot for nervous or sensitive dogs and understand that some need a little more patience and reassurance. I have experience caring for dogs and regularly spend time around rescue dogs, so I’m comfortable with different personalities and temperaments. I’m calm, reliable and happy to follow any routines, boundaries or training your dog is used to. I’m mainly available on weekends and would love the opportunity to spend time with a lovely dog who enjoys walks, companionship and lots of fuss 🐶🐾 I work full-time within a primary school setting during the week, so I’m mainly available on weekends and during school holidays. I enjoy spending my free time around animals and love going on walks, giving pets company and helping them feel comfortable and settled while their owners are away. I understand how important it is for pets to feel safe, relaxed and secure in their usual environment. I’m calm, patient and happy to follow your pet’s normal routine, including feeding, walks, boundaries and any specific needs they may have. I especially understand that some animals can be nervous or need a little extra reassurance and patience.

About: I've had pets ever since I was a little kid, I've had dozens of connections with cats of my own and I love them, the same going for dogs too! I have a very good sense and closeness with animals that can ensure that your pet is well cared for and looked after. I am currently a student finishing up the end of his year, meaning I have plenty of spare time to care for all your pets in need while you're away! I'm available almost anytime throughout the week and I'm spontaneous with taking care of them, and I can take care of them overnight on weekdays for when needed! I'm a very gentle pet handler, I'll make sure that their happiness and wellbeing is held to just as high a standard as their safety is, with that being top of the line. I can always keep my eye out on them and be attentive at all times for when the situation calls for it.

“Ivett was a perfect cat sitter for my Ebony! She gave her fuss, played with her and fed her well. Plenty of pics and videos were sent to me each day she visited. I have booked her again in a couple of weeks, and know all will be well whilst we are away. Would definitely recommend her! ”

About: I’m experienced in handling large dogs (any size/breed welcome) and have a deep understanding of the needs and quirks of anxious and reactive dogs and the care and patience they require through my experience with my extremely nervous rescue German Shepherd who was in very bad mental and physical condition when I adopted him. Sadly, he passed at the end of 2024 after many happy years together. Personally, I found it extremely difficult to trust others to walk or care for him during our time together so I’d like to reassure those in a similar position that I can take care of their best friend when they need it and I’ll always be as careful, understanding and vigilant as I was with my own. My garden is secure with full, well-maintained fences and walls and a padlocked gate, I have blinds on all public facing windows which can be closed if dogs are triggered by people walking by. Everyone is welcome to supply any toys, beds or anything that makes your dog feel more comfortable and of course I will stick to their usual walking schedule and dietary requirements. I live directly next to a large park which is not typically very busy and offers numerous trails from the main paths to avoid others when caring for reactive dogs. I will never let anyone’s dog off the lead during a walk (unless I have booked a secure field) and always clip leads to a strong walking belt as extra security, walk in shaded areas on hot days and carry water at all times. I mainly work from home so when boarding and pet sitting your dog will be with me all day with regular opportunities to play, go in the garden and for walks in the morning, lunch time and evening. I’m available for walks morning, lunchtime and evenings during the week and all day Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. I only care for dogs from the same household on walks and in my home unless they are friends who have already spent time together. This is for the best possible wellbeing of each dog. I’d rather provide quality and complete confidence than take on as many dogs as possible as I believe in giving them the individual care and attention they deserve with as few stressful triggers as possible. I work from home so dogs will not be left unattended or outside for prolonged periods. I only endorse the use of positive reinforcement / reward-based training and treat all dogs with respect, understanding and care tailored to their specific needs. I’m happy to discuss your requirements, answer any questions and arrange a pre-stay meet and greet if required. I have also completed a certified DBS check through my employer. We do not have any children or pets of our own in our home.

About: As a pet owner myself I am an excellent sitter and I have also cared for friends and families pets while they have been away on holidays. I can provide your pets with the best quality of care as I would with my pets and keep them well entertained. Each experience with a pet has lend me to understand each pet individually so make sure they have a stress free time while you are away. I am currently away from home to attend University. I’m originally from Newcastle and have a couple of pets at home which I miss terribly but being a student in student living I am not allowed to get any sort of pets which is hard as I am pet lover. I joined this app to help pets feel comfort while you are away and for me to experience the enjoy of pets love again. I can help you provide and keep your pets on their schedules of their daily activities such as walk to stretch their legs and keep them active, being feed and water, play time and also a time to rest.

About: I’ve grown up with both dogs and cats and have over 20 years of experience caring for my own cats. Alongside this, I have around 10 years of hands-on experience looking after dogs for extended periods, often for weeks at a time. I’m very comfortable with animals of all personalities and needs, and I genuinely enjoy providing them with a safe, happy, and loving environment while they’re in my care. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine as I’m not currently working, which means I have plenty of time and flexibility to give pets the attention they deserve. I’m home most of the day, so I can maintain consistent feeding schedules, provide regular playtime, and ensure pets feel comfortable and settled. I’m able to adapt my routine around each pet’s needs, whether that’s multiple walks for dogs, quiet companionship for cats, or sticking closely to specific care instructions. Because of my availability, I can offer a calm, attentive environment and won’t need to rush or leave pets alone for long periods. I provide attentive, reliable care whether pets are in my home or in their owner’s home. In my home, I create a calm, safe, and welcoming environment where pets can settle in comfortably, sticking closely to their usual routines for feeding, play, and rest. I make sure they get plenty of attention, stimulation, and affection so they feel relaxed and at home. When caring for pets in their owner’s home, I respect their space and follow all instructions carefully to maintain the pet’s normal routine. I ensure feeding schedules, walks, litter or garden care, and any specific needs are met consistently. I also keep owners updated for peace of mind, so they know their pets are happy and well looked after while they’re away.
About: Hello. I'm Dan, 34 years old and a lot of free time giving me the opportunity to help you and your pets. I'm an avid animal lover of all types and would welcome all invitations to walk, watch over and treat your best friends as mine too. I like to stay active, keeping a regular walking distance everyday and would happily welcome company on those walks. Whether that be short routes around the neighbourhood or a much longer trek in the hopes of tiring them out by the end of the day. I am a licenced first aider with lots of experience fostering dogs and cats in the past with severe medical conditions and other special requirements. In those situations I'm well trained to remain calm under pressure and skilled at assisting your pet in times of need.
About: I’ve started caring for animals since I was 10, starting with small rodents like hamsters and rabbits, even having fishies multiple times. Since 13 I’ve looked after my two Jack Russel Terrier mixes who are inseparable. They have PTSD and have come out of their shell amazingly and are now older dogs but still loving all the same. I also now have a Cockapoo who has major separation anxiety when away from my mom and I keep her so happy and entertained. I’ve cared for manny animals for others in the last 4 years, from a French bulldog with dietary requirements, special walking needs and anxiety to a bigger golden retriever who is caring all round. I’ve fostered a handful of kittens and cats before finding them a loving and caring forever home, I’ve looked after manny dogs and even smaller pets like reptiles and rodents. I am currently in University however it doesn’t take up every day of my week, this means most days of the week I will always be free. As for weekends, I can move things around to suit your best needs! When it comes to your home, I will be with the animal all hours of my time there, minus my own toilet breaks of course ahaha, and will be walking them as needed or letting them out into the back garden to go toilet. I will make it my too priority if your fur baby has any special requirements they are met on time and at the best quality I can give.

Pet owners share their Rover experiences - Middlesbrough
Booked Evie twice now to look after our “boys”. Evie is pleasant, friendly and communicates well throughout the process. We were worried that our timid cat wouldn’t make an appearance this early in Evie’s visits but we were delighted when we received pictures of both during our trip away. Would definitely recommend

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Middlesbrough choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a key safe. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalised codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in a flat, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or lift etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a qualified vet or offer other resources to help.
