“Jordan was fantastic, I only booked the evening before and she was so accommodating and easygoing, especially as it was short notice. Doris has a wonderful time, I received regular updates which was great. I’d happily send Doris back anytime. 🩷”

“Our 9-month-old whippet/staffy mix had a great time with Kelly! Her three other dogs kept him entertained, and Kelly sent us daily updates and cute photos from the dog park. He came home happy, healthy and tired! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Kelly to anyone else who is looking for a really capable sitter.”

“This was our first time using Rover and Odie’s first time away from family members we thought kennels wouldn’t be the right solution for Odie as he needs a quiet space being an older dog and after hours of scrolling for the right person we came across Michael. Reading his profile gave us reassurance and confidence that he would be the right person to look after our boy with his home offering a home from home environment, quiet space, meeting routines, patience and understanding of his personality he ticked all the boxes! Michael was quick to respond with any queries before we went ahead with booking. We received lovely pictures and videos of Odie out on walks and snuggled up at his home and he looked very happy and content throughout the whole Holiday. We had no worries or concerns at any point. We wouldn’t hesitate to book again in the future with Michael as he was very kind, approachable and genuinely very caring. Thanks again Michael for looking after our Odie boy and it was an absolute pleasure meeting you. Enjoy your thank you gift🍾 Craig, Kerri, Kids and Odie”

“June was wonderful, Ventress had a great time. We recoeived video and picture updates which we greatly appreciated! June was very kind and her attention to care was spot on (Ventress is teething so June gave her ice to help sooth her gums). Would definitely recommend and will we definitely will be using June's services again”

“My little dog Milo has stayed with Jamie twice now. Jamie is quick to respond to questions and has great communication. Milo enjoys Jamie’s company and was happy to greet Jamie when he went back for his next stay. He came home settled and happy and seemed relaxed and well cared for in my absence. I’d highly recommend Jamie’s care for your furry friends.”

“This was the first time we used Jessica, and we were not disappointed. From the messages before the visit to the care and photo updates while we were away, everything was excellent. Boris, being a bulldog, has specific food requirements and a set routine, which Jessica and her family adapted to perfectly. We felt completely reassured knowing he was in such good hands. We will definitely be using Jessica again in the future. Boris does not like the car and we always have trouble on collection but Jessica’s husband helped get Boris in the car with care, he is now snuggled up having had his favourite dinner , doing his favourite hobby of snoozing 💤”

“Katherine was amazing with Charlie. I felt at rest as soon as I met her, she send me photos and videos and when I picked up Charlie he didn’t want to come back 🙂🙂 Will definitely book again and very pleased with the service Thank you”

“My Charlie stayed with Wendy for the first time for 2 nights. At the meet & greet, we felt immediately at ease with Wendy’s calm voice & demeanour, as my Charlie suffers with separation anxiety & is extremely timid. She showed an interest in Charlie & he instantly warmed to her, which filled me with confidence that Charlie would be just fine in her capable care. She was also thorough in her communication of Charlie’s care & I felt reassured by her attention to details. I received regular updates & photos from her whilst he was there. When we collected him, he appeared calm & happy. I believe that Wendy is a loving & caring sitter, who will go above & beyond for your pet.”

About: I have had pets all my life, from chickens to dogs, guinea pigs and rabbits. There’s not many animals we haven’t welcomed into our home. I currently work 2 days a week, due to being a full time mum - this means I’m flexible throughout the week and weekends. Because my husband works shift I would like to know in advance when a pet needs looking to but don’t be afraid to ask at short notice. If I can help, I will! All of our pets that require vaccinations are vaccinated. All are up to date with flea and worm treatments. Given that I work in a vets they receive high end (pom-v) treatments not over the counter products. We previous had a little Westie, Pixie who was diabetic, her medication required a strict time routine to ensure she was stabilised well after meals.

“Stan had a wonderful time staying in Becky’s lovely home. Becky really knows how to look after dogs to the highest standard and the ease of communication and feedback was fantastic throughout. I would not hesitate to have Stan stay again. Excellent job. Would give more than 5 stars if I could 🤩”

“Callie had a great time with Michelle and Andy. She's been with them twice and already gets excited when we pull up in the car! They were really flexible when I needed to extend the time I had booked a couple of days beforehand. I wouldn't to hesitate to book with them again and fully intend to.”

“Here’s a polished 5-star review you can post for Amanda: --- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amanda was absolutely wonderful! She cared for both of our dogs like they were her own and made sure they were comfortable and happy the entire time. She kept us updated with plenty of photos and messages, which gave us peace of mind while we were away. Her communication was clear and reliable, and it was obvious how much she truly cares for animals. We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter—highly recommend Amanda!”

“Constancia and her son were absolutely amazing looking after Harry! Lots of cute vids & pics. He was so happy and relaxed when we picked him up , it was clear he was very well cared for and made to feel at home. Thank you both so much , we’ll definitely be back! 🐾✨”

“Louise was warm and welcoming to both us and our dogs as soon as we met her. She kept us updated throughout our holiday. Our dogs have returned happy and healthy (in fact I suspect they would like to have stayed even longer). We have booked Louise again.”

“Another fantastic stay for Ronnie. Sarah will update daily with pictures and videos, getting to see what fun Ronnie is having, really puts us at ease. Thank you again Sarah for looking after Ronnie and welcoming him into your own home with Lola”

“As always a lovely stay for Pebble with Emma, Max and Pepsi! Emma was extremely accommodating when my plans changed due to the snow. A huge thanks once again! Pebble is already looking forward to the next stay.”

Dog owners share their Rover experiences - Hambleton
Jordan accommodated us at short notice after we were let down by kennels and after Ted and Berties stay we would never consider kennels again. Truly a home from home and they were spoilt and loved every minute! Lots of play, walks and cuddles and we received regular photos and videos from Jordan. I don't think our fur babies even knew we had gone they were having so much fun! Jordan and her husband were true animal lovers that was obvious and our two were so very happy having their little break with Jordan. Thanks so much we will definitely be back for sure 😀

These guys were great in every way. Lots of updates on my dog- Lily, they’ve had a lot of experience with all breeds of dog and I was confident leaving Lily with them. During their time dog sitting they took Lily on a few adventures and also lots of snuggles on the sofa. 10/10 would recommend to all and just a lovely couple.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Yorkshire and the Humber may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
