“Communication with Daniel was excellent. He asked for me to message when leaving with a ETA. When I arrived he was on the pavement to meet me. Hughie is a big rescue dog who can be reactive and nervous. Once we got Hughie out of the car Daniel set off straight on a walk to settle him and give him a positive experience. Hughie looked back a couple of times but walked along next to Daniel happily. Daniel had no problems managing Hughie and I will be happily booking again. In fact he is going for a sleepover over in August”

“Helena has boarded our 2 dogs on several occasions for a few days to 2 weeks. This time they went for day care only. The communication and care was as excellent as our boarding experience. The dogs love her and go crazy when they arrive at her house. I never have to worry that they won't be OK. Definitely recommend! 🥰”

“Lily was great at looking after our pup. She was communicative, took him on walks, made sure he got on with the other dog and gave him plenty of attention and rest. Thank you!”

About: I have owned dogs for most of my life, very recently getting my own puppy who is now 4 months old. I understand the importance of providing not only exercise but also companionship and care. Doing lots of my own research and my experience as a dog owner has taught me how to read canine behavior, basic training, manage different temperaments, and ensure a safe and enjoyable outing/space. I’m quite flexible with plenty of time to look after your pups! With availability for boarding, walks, drop ins and any other pet services you need. I also have my own vehicle. I have a good sized fenced off back garden with a friendly fur baby of my own to keep your fur baby company, with lots of doggy toys to keep entertained. I also have a crate can easily crate your dog if needed.
About: You may notice a gap in our recent reviews, we took a short break for personal reasons, but we are so excited to be back! We truly love every 'furry' guest we host and can’t wait to meet yours. I currently work a hybrid schedule, so I am unable to accept dogs with severe separation anxiety. However, I am a great fit for pups who are comfortable being home for up to 4.5 hours (half a workday). For the other half of the day, I work from home and your little one will have my full attention! Every dog has a unique personality. The more you share about their specific needs and quirks, the better we can ensure they have a wonderful 'staycation' while you’re away. Please reach out with any questions! We know leaving your dog can be stressful for both of you. Your pet's well-being is our top priority. A meet and greet is essential so we can assess compatibility and how quickly your dog settles into a new environment. If everything goes well, we recommend a trial stay. We want to ensure your dog is happy and relaxed while you're away. While we'd love to care for every dog, we're unable to accept pets with separation anxiety or those who cannot be left alone, as our setup doesn't allow for 24/7 home care. However, you can be confident that your dog will receive lots of love and attention during their stay with us! For the garden: "We have a private, fenced-in garden in the front and a tiered garden in the back, offering your dog safe spaces to explore and relax." For the canal walks: "I'm familiar with some scenic canal paths perfect for calm walks and playtime. These offer a peaceful alternative to busier city areas."
About: As well as our own 20 month old dog, Poppy, we care for our parents’ 14 year old dog on a regular basis as well as friends & families dogs. We have over a years experience using Rover and caring for dogs privately too. We have cared for dogs for up to 3 weeks at a time, and very comfortable adjusting our lifestyle to suit the needs of dogs in our care. We have even taken dogs on holiday with us! Our lovely dog Poppy (a cross Spaniel/Beagle/Terrier) loves the company of other dogs, which is part of the reason we have signed up to care for other dogs. We are really comfortable with other pets, have a very dog friendly home, where they will be treat like our own and kept safe, warm and loved for as long as they are here. We recently welcomed a lovely baby boy into the world, so please note that any dogs we care for MUST be happy and comfortable around children and babies. I (Emily) work from home flexibly, and currently walk our own dog 3 times a day between us. We have an active lifestyle and love being at home. With us already having a dog of our own, we spend most weekends walking and taking her to the pub! We have a fenced, sizeable back garden which is perfect for your dog. We also have room for your dog to be kept separately from our own at night, whether that be on our sofa or in his/her own crate. We are really flexible and happy to accommodate your pets needs whilst staying with us. We live across the road from a big playing area where there are plenty of dog walkers, and have a park and woods on our doorstep too. Our dog walks off the lead, but we’re happy to keep yours on a lead, or off - whatever you are comfortable with.
“Emma is brilliant - very welcoming and loves having Jenny to stay. Jenny got to go on fun adventures with Emma and her dog Lottie. Lots of photos and videos too which are always welcome! Full recommended.”

“Kate was great looking after Hugo. She was great at giving updates and good long walks. Hugo came back very happy and exhausted. I would highly recommend Kate to look after your pet.”

About: Hi, I’m Claire I only care for one dog at a time, so your dog will be the only guest in a calm, relaxed home. I work best with dogs that are settled in a normal home routine, happy to snooze, potter around the house, enjoy their walks, and relax afterwards. My aim is to give them a peaceful stay where they feel secure rather than overstimulated. I’ve cared for dogs and cats of many breeds over the years and understand how important consistency is. I will follow your pet’s usual routine closely so they can settle quickly and feel comfortable. I’m fully insured and qualified in Pet First Aid, and I provide regular photo updates so you can relax knowing they’re happy and settled. To keep the environment calm for all pets in my care, I’m best suited to animals that: • are house trained • can be left briefly without distress • sleep through the night • are comfortable in a home setting If that sounds like your pet, I’d love to hear from you and learn their usual routine and favourite things. Qualifications: Pet Care Certificate Professional Pet Sitting Diploma Advanced Pet First Aid I work from home full time and walk three times a day; usually around 8am, 1pm and 6pm, however this can be changed to suit. I live in an apartment with plenty of space, however there are a few dogs in the building which yours is likely to meet so needs to be fine with them. My building is secure with an underfloor car park so when going in the car, your pet won’t leave the building until they’re belted in. I can adapt my place to suite your pet’s needs and they will be allowed in any room. I can also stick to any rules you may already have for them.

“Susan and Hans were both very friendly with both me and my dog Lola, who seemed to have a great day with them in their house. Communication was quick and easy, and they were relaxed about drop off/pick up times etc. They were clearly dog lovers and their house seemed well set up for dogs. We will be using their service again in the near future for sure! Thanks to you both.”

“Finnan had a great time once again with Kate and Dottie. It really is a huge weight off knowing that he’s in good hands and has a lovely friend to play with whilst we’re not around. Kate is excellent at keeping us informed with pictures and messages during his stay to let us know he’s doing well and having fun. Highly recommended”

About: I’m experienced in caring for dogs and other small animals, and I hold a Diploma in Animal Care and Land‑Based Studies. I genuinely enjoy looking after both dogs and cats, and I have my own animals at home, so I understand how important it is to give pets the same level of care, patience and attention they’re used to. I’m reliable, calm and confident with different breeds and personalities, and I take pride in creating a safe, happy environment for every animal I look after. I fit pet care naturally into my daily and weekly routine. I already care for my own animals every day, so feeding, walking, playtime and general supervision are part of my normal schedule. I enjoy planning my week around giving pets consistent attention, keeping them happy, comfortable and well‑looked‑after. I provide a safe, calm, and welcoming home where pets are cared for with patience, routine, and genuine affection. I make sure their environment is clean, comfortable, and hazard‑free, and I always prioritise their wellbeing. Pets in my home are treated with kindness, consistency, and respect, so they feel secure, relaxed, and truly looked after.
“Toby and Cindy had the best day ever. They've been working from home with me since COVID, and as such don't get a lot of chance to socialise. We booked a day with Helen so my husband and I could go out without worrying about them getting anxious at home, and it couldn't have been better. Helen and her handsome boy Ru are so warm and friendly. After an initial wariness about the new situation, mine settled down with their new BFFs. I got lovely photos and the sweetest text from Helen mid-day letting us know that everything was going great, and when we got home, the dogs immediately had a most contented nap. It's now the next morning and they are still so happy and tired from their adventures. Helen is HIGHLY recommended and we will definitely be returning in the future!!”

“We left our dog with a dogsitter for the first time, and I was quite worried — I didn’t know how he would behave, whether he might be aggressive, or miss us too much. But everything went perfectly. I received several messages with updates about how he was doing, and I always knew I could reach out and get a quick reply. I’m very grateful to Ance — she is truly caring and attentive, both with animals and their owners. Highly recommended!”

Dog owners share their Rover experiences - Calderdale
Daniel has been looking after Nika weekly for 8 months now, it's reassuring to know that when I have to be in the office, Nika is somewhere safe, and being well looked after. He's friendly, helpful and experienced in handling dogs. As such, his advice and just general chats at drop-off or pick-up have been invaluable to me as a new dog-owner

Katherine couldn't have been more fantastic. She was so helpful with pick ups and drop offs, sent photos through the day, and great communication before and during the booking. As a needy hound, my dog can be hard work and anxious but she looked utterly relaxed and like she'd enjoyed herself when I picked her up. Thank you :)

Your dog’s first day care experience is a big milestone! To help your pup settle in comfortably, we recommend:
- Food and treats portioned for the day, with feeding instructions
- Your dog's lead and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)
- Any seasonal gear, such as paw-safe wax for winter or a cooling vest for the summer
- Medication, if applicable, with clear dosage notes
- Any special care instructions or training tips to help your sitter provide the most personalised care possible
Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in Yorkshire and the Humber may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English, French, German, and Spanish from Mon-Sat 9am to 6pm. A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
